Alternative Rock music review Lyrically- The Best CD Ever
When i heard this CD, I couldn't believe it, the lyrics are off the hook! Its also got a great sound that makes you speechless. This is truly one of the best CD's I've ever heard and is by far my favorite!

Alternative Rock music review quite possibly the greatest album ever made
if you know christian rock music, then you probably know how much better it is than secular music. not only lyrically, but also musically. that album hasnt left my player since i got the album 4 months ago. you start with
1 - use me
an awesome grundgy sound rock song thats got great lyrics to mix with its awesome music.
2 - out of my mind
the only way to listen to this song is loud enough that you cant hear yourself when your compelled to sing along as loud as you can make your self sing
3 - prodigal dad
a slower song that just about makes you cry when you realise everything God has done for you
4 - cradle of peace
perfect blend of soft and hard rock in the same song that gives one of the greatest messages ive ever heard in music
5 - alive
you cannot describe this song, musically, its the best song ive ever heard, strong and powerful rock, but its also soft and rhythmic, soothing your soul as its feeds you the greatest words ever put into a song, just about every verse is inspiring enough to make you want to chenge your life and go out and live for god like we are supposed to
6 - electric
my favorite song before i heard alive this song just rocks
7 - Kaleidoscope
my least favorite song, but im still not ever gonna skip over it when it plays =)
8 - Man Alone
This song gets better everytime you hear it, ill go for days with the words and music in my head
9 - Sincerely yours
sometimes you forget about the other songs on the album, but its how you cant stop the music once it starts because of how great every song is that makes this the best album ever
10 - Proverb Doll
Just another awesome song you just cant not listen to
11 - Fly
A little slower for your softie lovers, the song still packs a punch and gives you some amazing lyrics
12 - I'd Rather See God's Face
another song the explores the range of the talents of GSM, hard and soft great verses, awesome choruses, ive never left the car in the middle of the song, you jus have to hear the whole thing

so basically you got anlbum which delivers 12 songs of which about 9 or 10 of the would be your favorite song had you not heard the rest of the album. cant wait till there is more about by these guys =)

Alternative Rock music review GSM Rocks!
GS Megaphone Rocks! Chris Freeman is my Hero! Ben Shreve's voice is awesome and the lyrics are powerful. Alive is an awesome song. This band is definitely best live so go check them out!

Out Of The Blue

Amazon base price: $15.98

Artist: Tim Moyer

Tracks:
  • The Apple
  • All One Or No One
  • Run
  • Out Of The Blue
  • Garden Of Angels
  • My Own Shoes
  • Jump A Train
  • Inside Of Me
  • I Don't Remember You
  • Yellow Fades To Blue
  • If I Could
  • Out Of The Blue (unplugged)
  • Run (unplugged)
  • I Don't Remember You (live)
It's easy to imagine Tim Moyer's songs coming to him out of the blue--clever turns of phrase such as "I was Rhett when I should've been Gable" matched with simple but forthright melodies give his craft a spontaneous, uncontrived flow. Whatever stylistic current he dips into--whether the affirming energy of the title track, the funked-up bass and dirty blues of "Jump a Train," or the direct, heartfelt balladry of "If I Could"--Moyer leaves an impression of singing his heart. It's true there are more-than-faint echoes of Tom Petty ("My Own Shoes") and John Mellencamp (the infectious riff from "Inside of Me"), but Moyer saturates every song with a sincerity all his own, which reaches a powerful climax here in the shattering "I Don't Remember You." Some of the songs start promisingly but never really take off, including "Run" or "Inside of Me." Still--as this debut album amply illustrates--Moyer's raw talent is potent and persuasive. This is a singer-songwriter you'll want to pay attention to as he continues to hone his art. --Tom May

This CD crosses over many music boundaries and has something for everyone. POP Folk, Country, and Rock. Tim has a very gutsy distinguishable voice. Don't take my word for it. Buy the CD or better yet, see him live!

Alternative Rock music review live to the point of tears
I have loved Bjork since i was a little boy, and after her countless...amazing music, this still remains my most favorite song of hers, ever!! it is absolutely beautiful

Alternative Rock music review Lovely!
This is a great song, but the remixes of it are barely different at all from the original, so I'd best reccomend getting this on an import version of the full-length album "debut".

Alternative Rock music review Waiting For Some More
Kevin Martin did a great job with this album. I would love to see the band live. Highly recommend this album. "If we could" (Favorite Song) "Restless", "Thoughtless Innuendos" "I" and "The Lovers" all great songs.

Alternative Rock music review The true spirit of rock'n'roll
Do yourself a favour, get this album, listen through it a few times and you won't be able to get its haunting melodies out of your head. This is a far more subtle record than a hasty listening could lead you to believe. It's full of fantastic harmonies, breaks, shifts, it's powerful and delicate at the same time, the sound is gorgeous. Martin's voice has an amazing range and, although sounding kind of familiar, doesn't really sound like anybody else's. I also saw them live and this was something to behold. Can't wait for their second record. Haven't loved a record that much in a long time...

Alternative Rock music review Simply amazing
I thought Candlebox's first album was one of the best 5 albums of the 90's. This is better.

I wasn't able to listen to anything other this album for a week after getting it, and it still is getting lotsa play on my MP3 player. Velvet Revolver and the Darkness are billed as the saviours of Rock And Roll; Kevin Martin and the Hiwatts are the true saviours.

Do yourself a favor: check out the band's site at kmband.com before buying. You won't be sorry.

If you've heard some good stuff about the slackers, or you just want to listen to some damn good music, buy this album. It is definitely on my top 5 albums of all time list. Vocalist and keys player Vic Ruggiero's amazing song writing ability really shines through in this cd. All 19 tracks are solid. Buy it now.

Alternative Rock music review Vic Ruggiero Rules!!!
If you enjoy roots reggae, great lyrics, ska and a kick arse band these guys are for you. Probably their best album to date even though they all rule. Vic is far and away one of the best singer/songwriter of this generation. The guy cannot write a bad song. Everyone I have exposed these guys too becomes instantly hooked!

Alternative Rock music review Top Deserted Island Disc
Regardless of what genre of music you're most into, The Slacker's The Question is among the best albums of any genre. The Slackers play with an authentic Jamaican ska sound. Ska/rocksteady/reggae such as this by The Slackers is great music. It's got soul, heart, a groove, harmonies, unique melodies, it's usually catchy as hell and it isn't meant to be commercialized! It's meant to be enjoyed and DANCED to!

Anyway if you've heard of the Slackers you probably already know how awesome they are. I would recommend this cd to anyone who is looking to find out what ska is all about, this is the cd I would give them. It's got 19 outstanding tracks that are sure you keep you dancin' on that deserted island.

Alternative Rock music review Stellar
this is by far one of the best bands that I have listened to in a long time. I cannot even get enough of it. i first got interested after they opened at DMB in san diego this summer and now im hooked. i would have paid a lot more for this quality of music.

Alternative Rock music review Reminds me why I love music
Red West is an exceedingly talented band. I had the pleasure of listening to Jayson sing and play his guitar several times on a camping trip before he was in this band, and he amazed me then, but seeing this band live absolutely blew me away. Listening to the Red West makes you revel in the sheer beauty of music. I sincerely hope they become HUGELY successful.

Alternative Rock music review Great Talent
This CD has a wonderful variety of different type songs. Jayson's voice is incredible!!!! Having seen these boys in concert is a whole different experience. They will be opening for Dave Matthews in San Diego on August 29th; I will be there to enjoy this great music and watch their flawless performance. I believe this group shall be the next U2 or Sting of its generation. WATCH OUT...........buy this CD and tell your friends.... There are songs on this CD, which will touch young and old alike....

Remember to Breathe

  • Love Song
  • I Wish I Could Believe Me
  • Pining
  • Keep It A Secret
  • Be Your Own
  • Love Trap
  • Cardboard Boxes
  • To Be Special
  • Little Black Girl
Although she owes more to Joni Mitchell and Joan Armatrading than to Mary J. Blige and Natalie Cole, Rebekah makes music that is direct and fastidious. She doesn't waste time refuting the usual archetypes of black femininity; they simply don't exist in her world. Rather than worrying about who she isn't, she spends her debut recording defining who she is. She delves into relationships on "Hey Genius," in which she declares her fatigue of vain men, and on "Be Your Own," in which she advises her guy "to stop trying to be my man and instead be your own." She describes her détente with your mother's strict religious mores on "Sin So Well," and "Love Song" is about her struggle to counsel a neighbor who is suffering spousal abuse. Rebekah sings these songs with a small, shiny voice that coils inwardly and leaps out with a variety of effects. On "Keep It a Secret" and "I Wish I Could Believe Me," she embodies a rocker's insolence; on the title track and "Pining," she maintains a jazz singer's precision, and on "Be Your Own" and "Cardboard Boxes," she has a soul diva's sauciness. All of her songs possess a sophisticated sense of dynamics. Where she fails is in the mawkishness of "Little Black Girl," and the album sometimes does seem a shade precious. However, her emergence marks the growth of an eclectic bunch who are embracing a broad spectrum of musical backgrounds as their own. After all, the best soul music is about the search for truth, and in Janet Jackson's "Got 'Til It's Gone," Q-Tip reminded everyone, "Joni Mitchell never lies." --Martin Johnson

Alternative Rock music reivew A good debut that deserves more shine!!
Looking at this album I was assuming she was one of the many young R&B artists who didn't make it. Was I wrong. She is one of very few young women singer/songwriters that chooses to be backed by a band instead of some flossy hip-hop production. Rebekah is a very good singer with a great voice and her songs are well written. Each track on this album is different. None of them sound the same, even though they do revolve around a few key topics. The title track is a great song with her band putting together a great track. Her band seems to be just a collection of studio musicians who know what they are doing and this is demonstrated by the fact that her bass player is Mike Elizondo, who currently is Dr.Dre's go to man for any bass lines he might need. Rebekah unfortunately did not really have a chance to be successful. Our society does not seem to appreciate female singers who are not singing cheesy pop love ballads over some synths and a repetitive drum track. If you are looking for a good singer that you've probably never heard of check this album out you will not be disappointed.

Alternative Rock music review Innovative, creative, and sensational
My fiance went on a "spending spree" and bought this for me from a used book store in the junk bin for $1.95. When I listened to this cd I could not believe it was only priced at 2 dollars. This is not pop, R&B, or rock. Its not easily categorized because its simply music and that's the way all music should be. True music is an expression from the artist's soul, not a well rehearsed script provided by the production company to make a lot of money. The quality of the music is worth a whole lot more than 2 dollars. Rebekah has a lot to say in a lot of different ways. Thanks Rebekah for re-introducing me to the art of simply loving music.

Alternative Rock music review Sound of speed
In the early 90's at one of the many low points of my life I discovered the Wedding Present. The music was vast, rambled on and was delivered with a bone crushing intensity. It seemed perfect. I related to everything about it except the lyrics ( well maybe a little). David Gedge seemed like a magnent for bad relationships, flirting and acting kinda dirty or sleazy. All of which I WASN'T BUT ADMIRED. Seamonsters marked a different direction for the band. Their fast and frenetic playing was augmented by the production duties of Steve Albini. Giving all the songs a puchy live in your living room feel that Albini does on all his productions. One of my favorite albums of the 90's. The only thing that is close to filler are the added b-sides. Even those are good.

Alternative Rock music review TheWeddingPresent - Seamonsters
The first time I listened to this CD I knew it would become one of my favorites. The opening riff of Dalliance is merely an overture to the experience in which you are about to partake.

What makes this CD unique is, regardless of your state-of-mind, it wills you into that of the the artists' intended listener. From that point forward, you are guided by TheWeddingPresent through the rest of this work.

This CD is unmistakenly beautiful. I used to hear influences of Joy Division & The Buzzcocks. The time signatures reflected the early Pixies (but I doubt any influence). Now Seamonsters has taken on a life of its' own.

It's been 12 years since I originally purchased this CD. It still yields a different emotional interpretation everytime I listen to it.

Alternative Rock music review Classic Gedge
If The Wedding Present came from Seattle they would probably be held in the same esteem as Nirvana are nowadays. "Seamonsters" was released the same year as "Nevermind" but is relatively obscure compared to that monster album. Still, sales alone does not a great album make and this is right up there with "Nevermind" in quality (some may argue that it's better).
"Seamonsters" moved away from the all out "fast and furious" approach of it's predecessor "Bizzaro". It is a lot more dynamic with delicate passages of music that sound like they're almost going to fall apart giving way to fierce multilayered guitar assaults. Breathtaking stuff and definitely not easy listening. That's not to say that there isn't any sweet pop music on this album "Heather", "Rotterdam" and "Dalliance" are wonderful tunes that point to Gedge's future pop writings with Cinerama and the Hit Parade tracks that immediately followed this album.
Lyrically he's again talking about love that has been lost, but the scenarios are more varied and unconventional this time around ("Octopussy" being an example). If you're fed up with the hundreds of dour "nu-metal" (or whatever they're calling it this week) soundalike [stuff] that clogs up the airwaves at the moment, this album will be a breath of fresh air. Honest music, honest production...awesome.

Alternative Rock music review I only has to hear it once before buying it!
I heard this song once on television, and I went out and bought the CD-single the same day! I'm rather oblivious to the lyrics, but I love the melody, and it is a far cry from the bubble-gum pop I usually buy. I love this track!

Alternative Rock music review Undescribably Great!
Fuel is the best alternative band out there and their music is phenomenal. It is so full of energy and talent. "Shimmer" is a great single but I highly recommend buying the full CD, "Sunburn." I can guarantee you won't be disappointed by this awesome album.

Alternative Rock music reivew evan olson- one room
first let me say i have the respect for evan in that he is one heck of a musician. that being said, he is not much of a songwriter. the songs bounce in between weak and downright silly. Horrible lyrics about "one night flings" and "g strings" make this album unlistenable. it sounds great but there is no substance behind the music. great for teenage girls who don't require depth from their tunes.

Alternative Rock music reivew Bubbly Pop
With Evan's 2002 release of "Red" jamming my changer, I thought it'd be a great time to take a look back at this pop gem. "So Much Better" opens with throbbing rhythm guitar and a zombie-like vocal and slashing electric lead to make this a thoroughly addictive track. "A Million Things" has a commercial pop melody on this midtempo track. "We know nothing lasts forever," Evan laments on the joyful, "Falling." The cover of America's "Tin Man" fits like a glove with Evan not straying too far from the original arrangement. "All I want is just to be in you," Evan sings getting to the point on "Deep In You." "Timing" has a great funky beat with a pretty melody that would have been comfortable on the Bus Stop CDs. A woman's voice calls out, "Evan are you sleeping?" on "Manhattan" that sounds like the soundtrack for a fast-paced dream. "Easy to Leave" shimmies with more rhythm than melody. "One Day" is a happy love song that'll have you slappin' your thigh. "There's a fire in my soul I can hardly control all I know is what's got to be," Olson croons on the pulsing "What's Got to Be." "Don't Break My Fall" has chiming guitars like the Byrds or Tom Petty. The CD concludes with "One Room" that is bright joyful pop. U snooze U lose with this release! Don't miss it.

Alternative Rock music review Evan-Only Getting Better
I remember when Evan was singing for Bus Stop back in '93. That's when I began digging his poppy/soulful sound. I've followed his progress since then & "One Room" is a great collection of his ecclectic groove. Evan is Greensboro, NC's true pop-star poet. If you dig happy, groovy, fun music, this album is for you!
