Alternative Pop Compilations music reivew Not bad, but not the complete roots of Roadrunner
When Roadrunner Records first started out, there were a handfull of bands that kept the label rolling, and while this compilation has a few good moments, it misses the mark for the most part. Sure, Slipknot helped catapault Roadrunner to superstar record label status, but they don't belong on here, and neither does lead singer Corey Taylor's Stone Sour band either. Of all the Sepultura songs that could be included on here, they picked "Roots Bloody Roots", which was the band's only real hit. Anything from "Beneath the Remains", "Arise", or "Chaos A.D." would have been a better selection. Coal Chamber and Killswitch Engage helped find the label success as well, but they don't belong on here either, and neither does Max Cavalera's Soulfly. Not to mention that material from Fear Factory and Type O Negative should have been from their debut albums, instead of the more recent hits. Thankfully, someone remembered the band's that made Roadrunner a force to be reckoned with at one time: Deicide, King Diamond, Life of Agony, Obituary, and Nailbomb; but where is Mercyful Fate, Death, and Biohazard? Who knows, but for everything this compilation does wrong, it does a lot right. Thankfully they decided not to include any tracks from Nickelback.

Alternative Pop Compilations music reivew Metal up the ass
This is a great cd Ididn't expect much from.I bought it for 4.99
at my fav record store.here are the best tunes and why i chose
them.
1. Fear Factory-Replica.Fear Factory kick ass and this is one of
their best songs.Never slow and always crunchy and heavy
2.Killswitch Engage-In the Unblind.KSE kick the sh@t out of every
one,I like Howard Jones,But Jesse was the man.
3.Sepultura-Roots Bloody Roots.A classic tribal/metal tune from
the Calvera brothers and co.
4.Chimaira-Fascination St.Melodic and relentless at times.GREAT.
5.Decide-.Got to have some all out death once in a while.
Well those are stand outs the rest are good though.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review check it out !
this incredible album is a compilation of artist from roadrunner records back in 2003! i highly recomend this cd to anyone who is or has become interested in metal. the heart of roadrunner records compilation has a very very VERY good selection of talented artist new and old.
and about a half of the songs are exclusive, like the remix of "spit it out" by slipknot and "unreal" by ill nino. it also includes the cover of the cures dark "fascination street" by chimara, which is actually pretty good even though its about 5 minutes long. the classic song "roots bloody roots" by sepultura is very catchy song and was a great way to kick of this cd. what i enjoyed the most on this compilation though was the song "brujeria" by brujerizmo! which is a very unique mexican heavy metal band. during the song "dead by dawn" by deicide they scream like frogs croaking, which is interesting i guess... i like all of the other songs to although i am sort of disapointed by the soulfly song because its kind of retarded and anoying, it sounds more punk rockish and is only a minute and 30 seconds long. but the song i really hate is the song "abigail" by king diamond. the guy screams like a little girl, its sounds really anoying. but other than that this is a great compilation and the inserts include long list of roadrunner artist during 2003 and small portrates of all the bands on the inside cover except Nailbomb and Brujerizmo. o'yeah song number 3, "In the unblind" is by Killswitch Engage!

Alternative Pop Compilations music reivew An ok dance CD
This is an ok dance CD. Only about 4 good dance tracks worth the listen such as "Who Do U Love" - Deborah Cox, "Be My Lover" - La Bouche feat. Melanie Thornton, "Dreamer" - Livin' Joy, "Beautiful Life" - Ace of Base. The rest is basically pretty boring. Not a great dance CD, but still an ok one. Get this only if you like most of the tracks and artists on this dance compilation album.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review THE BEST!
This awesome CD reminds me of my senior year of high school at the American School of the Hague in the Netherlands. Alternative Pop Compilations music review My favorite
As someone else stated, I had this tape years ago and it was my very favorite. I lost it and couldn't remember the title. I looked in music stores - everywhere. I finally did a search on Amazon.com. The one song I really remembered was "Man from Casaeria". The music was beautiful. I finally found the name of the album and was thrilled to see that I could still order it. I have it on my computer now and play it whenever I want to hear relaxing music - Christmas or not! It is the BEST ever CD!!!!!! P.S. I have since also found the tape I had lost!

Alternative Pop Compilations music review ~ MAGICAL~
Ok, so I collect holiday CD's and have Many! THIS one is my all time favorite. The whole family loves it. We take it out Thanksgiving and play it non-stop through the holidays. It is hard to describe because of the different melodies, some serene, some lively. Did I mention that I love this cd?!

Alternative Pop Compilations music review Quiet and Beautiful Music for the Season
This collection is one of the top three albums of my over 500 CD collection of holiday music. I find The Man from Ceasaria to bring a refreshing MidEast flavor to any celebration, and the Return of the Magi is especially moving. John Doan's version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen is one of the perfect evocations of how the holiday feels as you're packing up the ornaments and reflecting on all that's happened in this season and seasons past.

This album is especially suited to sitting quietly by the fire or dozing off to sleep -- or anytime that the joy and hecticness of the season threatens to make you forget the real reasons behind it.

This benefit CD for the Northwest AIDS Foundation collects a dozen previously released remakes of classic rock and soul songs from the 1960s to the 1980s. Each listener will find his or her own highlights--this corner has always been partial to Aztec Camera's to-swoon-for take on Van Halen's "Jump"--but the entire disc makes for tasteful play-through. The overall slant is positive, with Sarah McLachlan (Donovan's "Wear Your Love Like Heaven"), the Go-Go's ("Cool Jerk"), and John Wesley Harding (Madonna's "Like a Prayer") in particularly sunny moods. Cover Me should stand not only as a fine fundraising tool for a great cause, but as a reminder that the foundation still has much vital work left to do. --Rickey Wright

Alternative Pop Compilations music review A MUST HAVE CD
Far and above one of the best compilation CD's to date. A must have for Sunday morning lounging or an easy dinner with friends. A perfect gift for a friend!

Alternative Pop Compilations music review cover me covers all
Cover me is a great musical compilation that has something for everyone. A real treat and best of all you get great music and help out a very worthy cause at the same time.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review Great Tunes!
I'm not a sophisticated music listener but have found this disc to be on "permanent play" in my car and home CD player. I really like the version of "Like A Prayer", "Jump" and Melkey Sedek's amazing voice. I'm giving these out as stocking stuffers to everyone in my family! The fact that the profits go to fight AIDS is just a bonus.

A superb two-disc set of Narada's finest recording artists, from David Arkenstone and Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel to Nando Lauria and Dordán. Narada has assembled a wide assortment of musical glad tidings that encompass New Age-like pop arrangements with larger ensembles, Celtic interpretations, jazzy and neoclassical pieces, and a host of acoustic readings, the least of which is Billy McLaughlin's "What Child Is This?" Whether you like straight-ahead arrangements like Arkenstone's playful and more produced "I Saw Three Ships," or improvised pieces such as the enchanting rendition of "Carol of the Bells" by Kostia, The Best of Narada Christmas does a good job of pooling the finer works of its artists in one Whitman Sampler that packs value-plus--and enough seasonal atmosphere to turn your listening environment into a shaken snow globe. --Martin Keller

Alternative Pop Compilations music review Beautiful, Relaxing Christmas Music
This 2-disc set is one of my favorites--and I own over 32 Christmas CD's and over 20 Christmas cassettes.)

Narada is a popular New Age label, and this is a compilation CD from previous Narada Christmas releases. What is New Age music? Many styles fall under New Age music, including neo-classical, instrumental, ethereal synthesized music, Celtic, and light jazz. Some artists don't like to be categorized under New Age, but it's hard to find a place for the beautiful, relaxing, and positive music that often falls under the New Age genre.

This CD features traditional Christmas songs rendered in a non-traditional way, as well as new Christmas songs that are sure to become favorites of the season. There is enough varying of styles to add interest, including songs with beautiful vocals. What you won't find on this CD is drummed up "fake" holiday cheer with songs that grate on your nerves. Every song is truly ear candy that will soothe frazzled holiday nerves and bring the mind and spirit back to a more peaceful and joyful state.

Currently we have both CD's in our car's CD changer, and it was a treat to listen to them as we went Christmas shopping this weekend. Even my 5 year old son called from the back seat "nice singing!" I highly recommend this 2-disc Christmas collection from Narada if you like fresh, inspiring, and pleasant holiday music.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review Sets a happy mood
What I demand from Christmas music is that it create a mood. I have Christmas music that is reverent, contemplative, festive, playful, or reminiscent of years gone by. I have Christmas music by which to wrap presents, watch a fireplace fire, visit with friends, meditate, clean house, or write Christmas cards. While this CD does not create some of the strong emotional reactions that I have to some Christmas music, it is happy and light. My husband whistles to it. Although there are many spectacular selections, there are few demands from the music to stop everything and listen. For me, this is the music by which to watch it snow, plan shopping trips, or quietly visit with friends. Except for the ending Hallelujah chorus on Disc 2, I would call this Christmas chamber music.

Some details: Disc 1 is 60 minutes and Disc 2 is 62 minutes. That is a lot of music for the price. I highly recommend this 2 disc set.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review IT IS THE BEST.......
THIS IS THE BEST OF THE NARADA COLLECTION BECAUSE IT HAS MOST OF THE MUSIC FROM THE OTHER CDS. BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING ALL
THE COLLECTION BECAUSE YOU WILL GET SO MUCH MORE. THIS IS JUST
A SMALL SELECTION OF THE MAIN COLLECTION. I PLAY IT ALONG WITH THE OTHERS FOR A WONDERFUL 4 OR 5 HOURS OF MUSIC. I HIGHTLY RECOMMEND THIS CD WITH THE OTHERS.......

Alternative Pop Compilations music review one of the best comps
Not So Quiet on the Western Front is one of the best comps because it offers most of the best hardcore/punk from California and Nevada at the time. I definitly recommend this to anyone who is new to hardcore,Check it out.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review The Alternative Tentacles/Maximum Rock & Roll compilation.
Ah, i didn't even know this had been reissued but i'm glad that it has.

There are a number of reasons why you should own this. One is that it's probably the best hardcore compilation ever recorded. At the very least it's every bit as good as "flex your head" or "this is Boston and not L.A".

Another is the line-up : Dead Kennedys, Crucifix, 7 Seconds, Fang, Flipper, MDC, Intesified Chaos, Code Of Honor, The Church Police, Capitol Punishment and pretty much ever other early 80's hardcore/punk/noise band from California you can think of.

But, the most important reason why you should own this is because it includes the song "holocaust" by M.A.D who were the early incarnation of Bl'ast!. This, to my knowledge, is the only M.A.D song that's ever been officially released from their 1982 demo tape. Anyway, you know the song that plays in the background at the start of "time to think" by Bl'ast! on the "power of expression" lp before the guitars crank up and the scattershot drums come in..? This is that very song.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review The Definitive NorCal Punk Compilation
This is it; this is the music that liberated thousands of my fellow Northern Californians. There's some truly kick-ass $hit on here. And while the styles range tremendously, every song on this album is good. And then some are GREAT, like "Pay Salvation" by Los Olvidados or "Breakout" by UXB. If you like Maximum Rock and Roll, you will love this album! This is a monument to nonconformity and I highly recommend it.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review Hit random and bang your head
A sleeper that demonstrates what happens when you take a bunch of indy bands and give them a good cause. In this case the cause is to support the suicide helpline, and the bands provide some of their best. Thrice's "Silhouette" sounds almost as good as Killswitch Engage's "End of Heartache" (although without Howard Jones' vox potenta), Shadows Fall unleashes a live version of its simultaneously psychotic and pensive "Thoughts Without Words." Contributions by Poison the Well, Silverstein, and Further Seems Forever add to the mayhem. Consider it aggressor ownership of the auditory senses.

Is it strange to have an assortment of thrash, speed, and core performing for suicide prevention charity? It should be noted that the Red Cross used "Halleluja" by Rufus Wainright, a song about loving hopelessly, to raise funds for the Nine-Eleven victims. Regardless, it's a good collection.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review very good
lots of good songs on this cd. Yellowcard stands out among them all. the other volumes are good too. check this cd out!

Alternative Pop Compilations music review simply mindblowing
When I bought this CD, all I was thinking about was the artists on this CD since I had purchased the previous Plea for Peace Take Action vol. 2 compilation and I knew it would be good. This CD was simply amazing. A good all around effort and the Cd introduced me to bands that I have never heard of before but like them now such as The Beautiful Mistake, Copeland, Fall Out Boy, Brendan Benson and the Wellfed Boys, etc.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review Excellent Christmas CD!
Yeah I'm a big Narada fan and this, in my opinion, is their best Chrismas CD. I bought it while stationed in Germany in 1992 and the music coupled with living in that part of the world at that time of year was just magical. My favorite song is the first...no doubt. But they are all great. A must CD for your holiday collection.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review The best X-mas CD ever
I love this CD. I first got it on cassette tape in the mid 1990s, wore out that tape, bought another one, and finally got the CD. The version of the First Noel is the most beautiful I have ever heard, and The Evergreen Song is touchingly done. I would recommend this CD to anyone who loves Christmas music, and music in general. I listen to it even in the summer!

Alternative Pop Compilations music review Not usually a new age fan, but...
This album is my favorite Christmas album. The classics are so well done! And the new original songs - with a little marketing, they could become classics. "Song of the Evergreen" & "Gloria" are especially wonderful.

Alternative Pop Compilations music reivew Electronica goes to Machu Pichu
This is a mood album filled with various electronic styles including drum & bass, trip hop, trance and dub. The interesting aspect of this CD is the concept of mixing "ethnic" sounds that give it a primitive meets electronica sound. Very trippy stuff that will have you feeling very relaxed as though you were among the clouds in the higher elevations of Machu Pichu. The music is inspired by samples taken from an Incan music recorded album by Inti Raymi a UK band. Lots of pan flutes mixed with all the above electronic elements including vibes, nature sounds and haunting melodies. The CD plays heavily on the dub technique. This a compilation of groups including such heavies as "Trans-Global Underground"and "Fun-Da-Mental" among others. Sometimes the sound is more Eastern sounding as with "TGU's" "Cazares Mix" a sort of Hare Krisna goes to a rave at the Festival of the Sun. "F-D-M" has "Sufi Inca" that has tablas mixed in with flutes, an odd mixture but an interesting musical stew. This is kick back music to listen to when you want to feel in an other worldly mood or mute the sound while watching the Discovery Channel. It could be the soundtrack for an Incan expedition. Just a side note, the cover has an artists rendering of the famous Aztec Sun Calendar, by the way Aztecs are not Incas, they were two different civilizations.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review I'll Give it an Easy 5 Stars Myself....
Yo no lie, this is a quality CD.... The Music is earthy and modern with that ancient indian vein running through it. Its true when the others say no other CD compares to it. Its one of a kind. Can I go so far to say that some of the songs give my soul a warm feeling? No joke about this CD.....

Alternative Pop Compilations music review Takes you to another level
I have had this CD since I started listening to techno/electronic music (about 4 years ago) and have not found a match for it quality-wise to this date. It is more thought provoking and emotionally stirring than any other CD I own; listening to it is an experience in itself!

Alternative Pop Compilations music review A wonderful CD
Okay, - there are 2 songs that I'm not crazy about - BUT all the rest are wonderful. Forces me to think and worship and join in praise. I get so much encouragement from this CD and listen to it all the time. Some songs I play over and over again because the message is that powerful.

Alternative Pop Compilations music review Awesome
I work at a Christian bookstore and we play hundreds of CD's and this one is one of my favorites; it's amazing. It's not the kind of CD that grows on you either; you love is right from the start! :) The songs are well put together and really speak to you. They are the kind of songs that make you stop and go, "...wow".
