Can't use this on IPODI bought this specifically to install on my ipod and found that you can't do it. I Listen to all of my music through Itunes or on my IPOD, even in my car. Very disappointing for the price of this collection. Too bad...seems like a great collection of songs.
Simply Being Overwhelmed...I freely admit to buying this because I'm a BIG Yoko Ono fan and I wanted to hear her song "Every Man...". That, and other reasons as well...
And, believe it or not, I'd never heard Christina Aguilera. (I tend not to listen to that kind of music in general, having grown up with John & Yoko, Frank Zappa, David Bowie, and the artists of that generation.)
Listening to all the different artists and different styles, I was impressed by every song. Yes, Yoko's is a highlight for me, but Christina Aguilera's version of "Beautiful" is strong and melodic and powerful and, well, beautiful. Pink's "Love Song" is a good segue, and Simply Red's classic rendition of the old favorite "You Make Me Feel Brand New" felt like they were recording it for the first time. The Dixie Chicks' "I Believe in Love" was near-perfect harmony, and I will be buying more of their music.
[To all the country music bigots out there who think the Dixie Chicks don't have the right to their own opinions, you should stick with music that doesn't make you think, and can console you in your trailers on a cold Alabama night while you're eating Vienna sausages and drinking your Schlitz beer... OK, so we're trading one stereotype for another, but that's how it feels to have stereotypes flung at you...]
Carole King, well, what can you say? She never fails to deliver, and "An Uncommon Love" is no exception.
My favorite songs are on the second CD. Melissa Etheridge, the B-52s, Cyndi Lauper, Yoko Ono (my favorite, of course!), Dave Koz, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Billy Porter, and Oleta Adams, are only some of the great artists contributing songs.
Each and every track is worth listening to, and since I don't own an iPod, I don't have those particular issues.
Highly recommended!

This CD is absolutely beautiful & supports an amazing cause.i came across this album on the recommendation of a friend and after listening to it the first time i couldn't take it out of my home stereo. it's great to know that artists like the Dixie Chicks, Dolly Parton, Christina Aguliera, Melissa Etheridge, Pink, Oleta Adams, Mandy Moore and so many others, use their talents to support such a great cause. each song speaks of love and reinforces the theme that "love rocks."
one friend had difficulty loading it to his ipod, however a simple call to the record label that produced the cd (centaur music - 888 923 6828 toll free) helped to clear up the problem. now he enjoys the music on his ipod as well.
highly recommended. timeless songs, all with a beautiful message.

The celebratory spirit behind tribute albums doesn't suit every subject. More than a single swaggering rock star has come off as limp and self-loving, and thoughtful chanteuses have gone sappy or sour--which is why saluting the California garage punks of Sublime makes a lot of sense. For one thing, it's nearly impossible to screw up the collapsed band's sunny, to-hell-with-it vibe--its music is a mood encapsulated--and for another, any artist cool enough to take on one of its songs knows instinctively to embrace the ska sensibility and not skimp on energy. What we get with Look at All the Love, is a party with all the right props. No Doubt was an obvious choice and, on the disc's only live track, "DJ's," Gwen Stefani turns in a mid-speed sway-and-bobber; Jack Johnson chills on "Badfish/Boss DJ"; G. Love goes for funk-rock broke with "Greatest Hits"; and the artful Greyboy Allstars send "Doin Time" to jazz school. A single caveat: Hipsters who followed Sublime in its mid-90s heyday and have since had kids should order tiny earplugs with their copies. Fishbone does an admirable job with "Date Rape," but it's still as profane as ever. --Tammy La Gorce

Nice sentiment - poor executionI bought this album on the recommendation of a friend after we had a conversation about Sublime... we both really liked Sublime's music and he told me how great this CD was, so I picked it up. Unfortunately, I can't agree that the CD is that "great." I enjoyed one or two tracks, and I really laud the effort that went into them - it's never easy to cover another band's hits. But some of the songs are just bad - and with most of them I know I'd rather just hear the actual version. If you like covers and want to hear a bunch of different bands pay tribute to a great band that is no more, pick up this CD. Otherwise, just put in "40 oz. to Freedom" or "Sublime" and listen to the masters at work.
If you are a true sublime you'll want to hear thisObviously no one can do a Sublime song better than Sublime but what I like about this album is how everyone put their own style into each of the songs. They didn't try to sound like Sublime but at the same time, you can still imagine Sublime being involved with the making of these songs. The book insert has a little input from each artist on what Sublime meant to them which I enjoyed reading.
Notable tracks are Jack Johnson's version of Badfish/Boss DJ and Abstract Rude's Waiting for my Ruca. Los Lobos did a great job on Pawn Shop as well.

Decidedly GoodI've heard the originals to almost all of these songs many times, so naturally I don't really have the same affinity for these that I do the originals. That being said, I like how diverse the sound is, instead of being true covers, the various artists take liberty to change/add lyrics and create completely different sounding songs than the originals.
The only reason that it's not a 5 is because of the track by No Doubt. Jesus christ I got about 5 seconds into it before I skipped to the next track. What where they thinking?
