Indie and Lo-Fi music reivew Blue Jeans Music
Listening to this CD is like putting on a pair of old, stone-washed blue jeans, or your favorite pair of beat-up tennis shoes like the chucks featured on the cover of this album. It's certainly nothing flashy, nothing too showy, nothing that's going to impress the suits. But that's the point, isn't it? This is just plain good music, super-comfortable, and flat out fun.

If you're looking for comfortable, indie-ish folk-rock music that will leave your toe tapping and its melody stuck in your ear all day, this is the right album for you, as well as Scott's other albums for sale here or at scottandrew.com.

Indie and Lo-Fi music review Music for the winter and summer
I have been listening to Scotts music the first day he published a song on his web page. I find the music has a lot of energy and let's talk plain: it is music with rocks in.

    Artist: The Moaners

    Tracks:
    • Heart Attack
    • Too Many People
    • Terrier
    • Elizabeth Cotten's Song
    • Flannery Said
    • Oh Christy
    • Water
    • Talk About It
    • Paradise Club
    • Hard Times
    • Secret Joy
    • Chasing The Moon
The Moaners erupt from the glut of guitar-and-drums garage/punk/blues duos with this debut, a hard-smackin' boil-down of bad love, grinding riffs, atmospheric droning, and vocal harmonies that justify their name. Singer and guitarist Melissa Swingle hails from Mississippi, where enough molasses and cotton powder stuck to her vocal cords to make her songs about juke-joint nights and haunted hearts leap from elementary to elemental. She's also funny, in a sneering way, comparing men to breeds of dogs in "Terrier" and wryly paraphrasing author Flannery O'Connor in "Flannery Said." "Elizabeth Cotten's Song" pays tribute to the late North Carolina blueswoman by quoting her classic "Going Down the Road Feeling Bad." Nevertheless, the way Swingle's bittersweet drawl, raw, effects-colored slide guitar, and slow chiseled solos mesh with veteran punk drummer Laura King's uncluttered thumping sidesteps identifiable regional styles and musical eras to create the Moaners' evocative, distinctly Southern soundscapes. To call their music timeless would be an exaggeration, yet their take on rock certainly rolls to its own heartbeat. --Ted Drozdowski

Same ol' tired voice over and over. Not horrible beginnning to end, but not so good either. The band's name sums it up.

Indie and Lo-Fi music reivew They rock !!!!
I've seen those girls live a couple of times: they rock ! This album is *just* great.

Indie and Lo-Fi music review Now this is music!!
I loooooove this disc. A soulful pack of rock and roll songs that will get you movin'. The one drawback is it absolutley goes by too fast. The whole album leaves you wanting more. Bravo!!!! My faith in modern music has been restored.

    • Love's Lost Guarantee

Descend Like Vultures is a fabulous collection of delirious, dizzy alt-pop. At times it reaches the highest acclaim any pleasantly detuned indie-rock can achieve: comparisons to New Zealand indie-rockers from the 1980s. Of course, those bands are fairly obscure these days and this Bay Area bunch may never have heard the Great Unwashed or Tall Dwarfs before. Regardless, they all share an equal love for pure, unbridled pop music and introspective experimentation. Rogue Wave's strummy debut was weighted closer to the pop side, while the new album leans more toward noise in content and pop in context (in the clean sheen of big studio production). In particular, "10:1" marks a new direction, towards a deep immersion in heaviosity. Let's hope the inclusion of "Every Moment" on the Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack has raised the band's profile to where folks aside from kids who post to indie bulletin boards obsessively will hear this album. Vultures is darker, stranger and better than its predecessor. –Mike McGonigal

Indie and Lo-Fi music reivew Rogue Wave-descended like vultures
Rogue Wave is another addition to the sub-pop records family, with bands like the shins, the constantines, the elected, Damien Jurado, and Postal Service, this seattle based record company has the leading edge of indie bands. Zach Rogue writes almost everything for the cd and it really shows the true sound he wanted to get from this album. "Bird on a wire" has the sound of many Elliot Smith songs, "Publish my love" is a soft resonant song that leaves you still wanting to be convinced as to what he can do while "Love's Lost Gaurantee" and "10:1" broaden the sound to create the two ranges that his music could create to be the two best songs on the album. The next song "California"
is not another beach, summer, song it's totally voices my opinion about that certain state in the first two opening words where he says "screw california". and the next best song that almost ends the cd is "you" which has awesome pausing and echoey guitar where he sings about finding love. Under the Radar magazine gave it Number 5 best cd of 2005 and it could have been higher. So this is the sound I've been waiting to hear and Rogue has definetly has delivered.

Indie and Lo-Fi music review Just Getting Better
I absolutely adored this CD, mostly because the music is so different and the band seems to have such a creative force in music-making. If I was forced to pick a genre for this release I would say 60s psychedilic influenced new-new wave. Standouts include "Publish My Love" and "California" but any song would honestly give you chills.

Also, if you enjoy this band, be sure to check out thier first CD, "Out of the Shadow" for more of a experimental 60s influenced sound.

Indie and Lo-Fi music review Amazing!
This album is absolutely amazing! I got turned onto Rogue Wave by hearing them on XM radio, and I was instantly hooked. They are totally underplayed. Every song on this album is amazing!

soundz like poor scrappy outtakes from early Superchunk, recorded thru a busted microphone loosely connected to a junky boombox. its crap dressed up in cooler-than-thou affectations.

Indie and Lo-Fi music review lo-fi crazy awesome
Welcome back, Siltbreeze. Nice slab of frenetic, lo-fi, m/f vox, get-it-on-tape energy. Little bit like Fiery Furnaces, but rougher/rawer.
