Industrial music review Awesome Industrial Metal
I really can't say that I'm a big fan of industrial metal, but I can say that Rammstein isn't a band to pass up. Having heard Sehnsucht before this, I was a little sceptical. Sehnsucht was a okay album but it really didn't impress me much. This on the other hand did. From the first track to the last, I was in awe. It basically blew their next album (Sehnsucht) out of the water. I love the mix of some techno, industrial, and metal. Every song sounds different from the last, which is somewhat a rarity for me. I also love the lead vocalist's singing. It's very operatic. Every song is good, though I have to say Seamann is the best. I had never heard of a industrial ballet before this and thought it sounded ridiculas when my friend told me about it. Then I listened to it. I can describe it in one word: beautiful. This is just an awesome cd.

Industrial music review One of Rammstein's Heaviest Albums...
This is Rammstein's very first album ever released. I would consider it one of their best releases. The keyboard is much more dominant on this album than laters ones, and the guitar riffs are much harder as well. I would recommend this album for people who like Heavy Metal, Electronic, or Industrial Rock.

-Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen?-...8.5/10
This is a very heavy song and is good for an intro into the album.

-Der Meister-...9.5/10
I consider this one of the best songs on the album. Very heavy guitar riffs, and a very nice keyboard solo.

-Weies Fleisch-...9/10
Once again, very heavy guitar riffs on this song, a nice song altogether.

-Asche zu Asche-...9/10
Awesome keyboard solo on this song. This is probably the heaviest song on the album.

-Seemann-...10/10
This is my all time favorite Rammstein song. The song has a perfect bass guitar riff and Till sings softly throughout the song. At the chorus, the guitars are very heavy, and Till sings in his deep voice. This song also has very well-written lyrics.

-Du riechst so Gut-...9/10
One of the most famous songs from this album. Medium-heavy guitars and very well executed vocals. There is a very good guitar solo on this song as well.

-Das alte Leid-...8.5/10
Very slowly played song. This is one of Rammstein's first demo tracks (a.k.a. "Hallo Hallo"). Very good considering it was originally a demo.

-Heirate mich-...9/10
Very well-written song; I love the lyrics. Song is played semi-slow and speeds up at times. The keyboards sound somewhat like the Mission Impossible theme song. Very good song.

-Herzeleid-...9/10
The lyrics are sung very slowly in this song. This is also one of the heaviest songs on the album. Very Very nice keyboard solo on this track.

-Laichzeit-...8.5/10
The lyrics are sung semi-fast on this track; the lyrics are quite interesting as well. Not a bad song at all.

-Rammstein-...9.25/10
One of my album favorites. Starts off very slow, then the guitars rush in and play very heavy. This song is about the Ramstein air show disaster in Germany. There is also an awesome guitar solo in this track.

Industrial music review Wollt ihr Rammstein in Flammen sehen?
First off my cd cover is different, it only shows their heads and the rest is all white. I think that cover looks better but either way it's the same cd whichever cover you get. This is their first cd and it's the most raw and fast paced album that they've made. Wollt ihr.. is their best riff ever but the song goes on about a minute too long. Asche zu Asche has a great fast paced riff but it's not as heavy as I'd like but it still rocks. Seemann is a ballad that slows down the album but it does have some cool heavy sounding guitars throw in it here and their. Things pick up again with Du riechst ... which is another fast paced fast song with a great riff and beat. Herzeleid is slower but still heavy and the singer does the lyrics a word or 2 at a time and it has a nice keyboard solo. Heirate mich has a mediocre riff but it still works very well. Das Alte Leid is the strangest song here, it doesn't sound like the rest of the songs but it's still good. Rammstein is also slow but heavy and it took me a while to like it but I do. The other songs I didn't mention are also faced paced and good. This cd also has their best guitar solo's, they have a nice warpy feel to them Yes the lyrics are in German, which give it a great sound plus the singer doesn't sound that good singing in English. So if you're a fan or like fast paced music then you should buy this cd.

Industrial music reivew Not bad, but not the complete roots of Roadrunner
When Roadrunner Records first started out, there were a handfull of bands that kept the label rolling, and while this compilation has a few good moments, it misses the mark for the most part. Sure, Slipknot helped catapault Roadrunner to superstar record label status, but they don't belong on here, and neither does lead singer Corey Taylor's Stone Sour band either. Of all the Sepultura songs that could be included on here, they picked "Roots Bloody Roots", which was the band's only real hit. Anything from "Beneath the Remains", "Arise", or "Chaos A.D." would have been a better selection. Coal Chamber and Killswitch Engage helped find the label success as well, but they don't belong on here either, and neither does Max Cavalera's Soulfly. Not to mention that material from Fear Factory and Type O Negative should have been from their debut albums, instead of the more recent hits. Thankfully, someone remembered the band's that made Roadrunner a force to be reckoned with at one time: Deicide, King Diamond, Life of Agony, Obituary, and Nailbomb; but where is Mercyful Fate, Death, and Biohazard? Who knows, but for everything this compilation does wrong, it does a lot right. Thankfully they decided not to include any tracks from Nickelback.

Industrial music reivew Metal up the ass
This is a great cd Ididn't expect much from.I bought it for 4.99
at my fav record store.here are the best tunes and why i chose
them.
1. Fear Factory-Replica.Fear Factory kick ass and this is one of
their best songs.Never slow and always crunchy and heavy
2.Killswitch Engage-In the Unblind.KSE kick the sh@t out of every
one,I like Howard Jones,But Jesse was the man.
3.Sepultura-Roots Bloody Roots.A classic tribal/metal tune from
the Calvera brothers and co.
4.Chimaira-Fascination St.Melodic and relentless at times.GREAT.
5.Decide-.Got to have some all out death once in a while.
Well those are stand outs the rest are good though.

Industrial music review check it out !
this incredible album is a compilation of artist from roadrunner records back in 2003! i highly recomend this cd to anyone who is or has become interested in metal. the heart of roadrunner records compilation has a very very VERY good selection of talented artist new and old.
and about a half of the songs are exclusive, like the remix of "spit it out" by slipknot and "unreal" by ill nino. it also includes the cover of the cures dark "fascination street" by chimara, which is actually pretty good even though its about 5 minutes long. the classic song "roots bloody roots" by sepultura is very catchy song and was a great way to kick of this cd. what i enjoyed the most on this compilation though was the song "brujeria" by brujerizmo! which is a very unique mexican heavy metal band. during the song "dead by dawn" by deicide they scream like frogs croaking, which is interesting i guess... i like all of the other songs to although i am sort of disapointed by the soulfly song because its kind of retarded and anoying, it sounds more punk rockish and is only a minute and 30 seconds long. but the song i really hate is the song "abigail" by king diamond. the guy screams like a little girl, its sounds really anoying. but other than that this is a great compilation and the inserts include long list of roadrunner artist during 2003 and small portrates of all the bands on the inside cover except Nailbomb and Brujerizmo. o'yeah song number 3, "In the unblind" is by Killswitch Engage!

Industrial music reivew good but not what i was expecting
considering i was told by a lot of people that this band was thrash metal I decided to pick up this cd for 2 bucks on ebay. this isn't really thrash at all. it's just double bass pedal and death metal type riffs. dont get me wrong i like this cd but its too industrialized for me, so if you like industrial and want to hear industrial death metal here you go. if you were like me and want to haer some thrash look else were. =]

Industrial music review Industrial Masterpiece
Fear Factory is essentially what you get if Nine Inch Nails, Slayer, and Morbid Angel fused together into one.

Onto the album, the machine gun double bass, the crushing guitar riffs, and Burton C. Bells growls are the main points of this album. The drums are so fast it sounds like automatic weaponry is going off in your speakers. The bassist is largely inaudible, but he is the main guitarist from Archetype and Transgression, so I know he can handle his instrument well.

My favorite songs: Demanufacture, Hunter-Killer, Pisschrist, New Breed, and Self Bias Resistor.

Also get Soul of a New Machine, Obsolete, Archetype, and Transgression for amazing Fear Factory.

Industrial music review Fear Factory's best album
You heard me right folks, "Demanufacture" is Fear Factory's best album ever, and it's also one of the best metal albums of all time. Don't get me wrong, "Soul of a New Machine", "Obsolete", "Digimortal", and "Archetype" are all great albums, but like I said before, this album is their all time best, and it's down right addicting from beginning to end. I've had this album for two years now, and whenever I listen to this, my mind is completely blown away, I just love it. Burton C. Bell's vocals on here are much more different then they were on "Soul of a New Machine", but he's just absolutely awesome on here. His angry screams on here echo Phil Anselmo and Max Cavelera, and his clean singing is just incredible beyond words as shown on tracks such as "Self Bias Resistor" and "Dog Day Sunrise". Dino Cazares's awesome machine-gun-like guitar riffs shoot right through your body like a cannon shot. Chrisian Olde Wolbers's bass lines are hearable and very groovy. Raymond Herrera's sick double bass drumming is just fast and relentless throughout, man this guy is without a doubt one of the best metal drummers ever. The opening title track "Demanufacture" is absolute pure bliss. Whenever I hear the chorus to that song, it immediately gets my blood rushing and my fists pumping. Other great standouts on here such as "Body Hammer", "Replica", and "Flashpoint" have crunchy, heavy grooves, while "New Breed" and "H-K (Hunter-Killer)" are fast, blood rushing, hard hitting, and flat-out intense. Please note that the song ratings on here apply to the original version of this album (without the bonus tracks) that I own.
Jeremy's song ratings:
1. Demanufacture (4:12) - 5/5
2. Self Bias Resistor (5:12) - 5/5
3. Zero Signal (5:56) - 5/5
4. Replica (3:56) - 5/5
5. New Breed (2:49) - 5/5
6. Dog Day Sunrise (4:45) - 5/5
7. Body Hammer (5:05) - 5/5
8. Flashpoint (2:53) - 5/5
9. H-K (Hunter-Killer) (5:17) - 5/5
10. Pisschrist (5:25) - 5/5
11. A Therapy For Pain (9:43) - 5/5
Total Time: 55:13

Overall Score: 100/100
Grade: A+ all the way

So anyways, if you're a fan of Fear Factory, industrial metal, thrash metal, death metal, or just metal, you must own this album. If you don't have this, then what the hell are you waiting for, go out and buy this album now!! Fear Factory Rules!!

If you like this, I also recommend these albums as well:

Industrial music reivew Magnificent violinist
I'll make this brief: the band has an amazing violinist. The vocals aren't very interesting, but the cello and violin playing make almost all the songs on the album worthwhile experiences. My favorites are "Ex Lover's Lover" and "The Man Upstairs." Voltaire's lyrics are somewhat witty and lighthearted; their music is not at all depressing, despite dealing with some "dark" matters. If you want to listen to Voltaire for their reputation as a goth band, I'll tell you that this album is heavily influenced by European folk and seems more alternative to me than anything else. His singing style is rather typical of the goth scene, though.

Industrial music reivew "Good Enough For Goth"
To quote the man, himself, "Good enough for Goth."

I ran across Voltaire completely by accident. I bought a Projekt CD in a used CD store, a holiday CD of all things, because I love irony. Goth Christmas songs. Ho ho ho! Well, turned out I actually liked it, so a friend of mine hopped online on the Projekt website and found out where to buy their CD's. Hot Topic, wouldn't ya know? She bought me a compliation CD from there for Christmas and Voltaire had two songs on there: "Good Night, Demon Slayer," and "BRAINS!" both songs I'd never heard before, but soon fell quite in love with. Not long after, I happened to make a pilgrimage up to a North Denver record store that actually carried a few of Voltaire's disks. I bought "The Devi's Bris" on total impulse and the rest was history.

I grew up listening to folk music, and I gotta say, it's refreshing to hear new music without the heavy use of drum machines and synthesizers--not that I don't love those too, mind you, but Voltaire's simple melodies and modest accompaniment are a refreshing change of pace for burnt out eardrums. Voltaire's songs convey a deep sense of irony and dark wit in their lyrics, something you just don't hear very often in songs anymore. (When did "I did it all for the cookie" become great songwriting??) And for Godsakes, Voltaire actually ENNUNCIATES when he sings, so you can really understand what he's singing! AMAZING!

When you've had it with the radio and would rather drive a spork into your jugular vein than listen to another Linkin' Park song, put on "The Devil's Bris", or any other Voltaire CD for that matter, for something altogether new, yet comfortably familiar.

Industrial music review More Voltaire!!!
This Cd is really great. Not only is it the type of music you would listen to while caked in mud, sliding over a cliff, it's the type of music you listen to caked in mud, sliding over a cliff, holding the hand of the person you love. It is romanic, dark, twisted, and best of all humorous.

Industrial music review Worth Its Weight In Diamonds
Possibly one of the best albums I've ever listened to. However, Acid Bath is certainly an acquired taste. Brilliantly and beautifully dark and melodic, every song on The Kite String Pops brings something powerful to the table. The band's own style varies, more or less, from song to song with lighter melodies like The Bones of Baby Dolls, and Scream of the Butterfly, and then deathmetal masterpieces like The God Machine and Toubabo Koomi.

I won't rate every individual song, Acid Bath is one of those bands that everyone will have a different favorite. I will tell you my two personal favorites on this disc are Cheap Vodka and Bones of Baby Dolls. All of Dax Riggs's lyrics are written by an unmistakable lyrical style that has its roots in various death metal bands, but also strangely in Leonard Cohen, T-Rex, and the Beatles. The blend of moody lyrical styles with Dax Riggs's own darkness produces something truly unique.

I have heard criticisms of the use of instruments in Acid Bath. I disagree with these, personally, as clearly the drummer is very talented as is demonstrated in many of the songs obviously showcasing him. Mike and Sammy are brilliant guitarists, both of them, with different flares and flavors of darkness... Sammy more deathmetal, and Mike more expert at melodic and smooth dark guitar riffs. Audie, may he rest in peace, used a heavy pick when playing bass, which produced a unique and mysterious, mechanical sound that could only work so well with Acid Bath's music. Plus, you want credibility? These guys lived in Swamps south of New Orleans, in houses on stilts where walking outside meant looking out for alligators. That is just badass.

In short, I won't allow my bias to slip through and declare that Acid Bath is the best band of all time, that's a mistake to say. However, I will say that in my opinion, they are a great band, and one of my very favorites for their unique grindcore/darkwave/deathmetal/hardcore/swamp rock style. I recomend a look-see at Acid Bath, and if you don't like it after hearing the album a few times, fine, put away and save it for a rainy day. The more you hear it, the more you'll one day grow to love it.

Industrial music reivew Moonshine Metal
There really is no easy way to describe the phenomenon that was Acid Bath. Although they only made 2 albums (this being the second), they created music that is a combination of Blues, Psychedelic, Death metal, Sludge, Elemental, Doom and just about whatever. Dax Riggs adds an almost poetry like dimension to the band with his lyrics and singing style. This album has it all, fast in your face metal songs with double bass and guitar solos (Locust Spawning) to the slow acoustic and beautiful ballads (Dead Girl, New Death Sensation) and even some really creepy poems featuring voice distortion (Old Skin and the Untitled Track). If you like a variety of styles and elements in your Metal, then this is for you. Truly artistic and unique Acid Bath was one of the few bands that you could title as original because there hasn't been anything like them since. After the release of this album their bassist was killed in a nasty car crash and they decided to call it quits and go their separate ways forming several new bands.

Interesting Fact: The album cover artwork was painted by Dr. Kevorkian.

Acid Bath: R.I.P.

Industrial music review GO NO FURTHER
YOU WANT REAL METAL TO OPEN YOUR EARS? THIS IS IT. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. TOO BAD THEY HAD TO BE LIKE LED, & WHEN A BAND MEMBER DIES, BREAK-UP. THATS LIFE, BUT THE MUSIC LIVES ON. ENJOY!

Industrial music review Very Groundbreaking, Despite What That Other Reviewer Said
One of the reviewers to post shortly before me claimed that Acid Bath was not only "Not groundbreaking" but also "sludge". I am not going to insult your opinion, nor unreasonably ridicule you. However, why must opposition to this band's popularity be so violent? First of all to compare Acid Bath to Soundgarden is blasphemy... They are nothing alike, and Dax's voice has a better, less nasally range with a much more effective scream for his style of music, which by the way is completely different from Cornell's.

Anyway this album rocks.. There are a few good reviews on here already, so I'll spare you. It's the same deal as on The Kite Sting Pops, and it proves that you can't have too much of a good thing.

One final note, keep in mind that Acid Bath was around in 1992... They defined this new wave of deathmetal, whether you want to think so or not. No one has surpassed Dax's lyrical style as of yet, nor are they likely to anytime soon, but God knows they all keep on trying.

Industrial music reivew Great Album
This cd is by far the best effort put forth from Klayton under his band Circle of Dust. His singing improved a great deal on this album, and the music is much more imaginative. Chasm is the best song on the album. The only grudge i have with this cd, is that half of it is remixes. Without them, it would basically be an E.P. I wish there were a few more songs on this album, but i heard Klayton was going to release it as 2 separate cds but wasnt able to (the first half, then release the remixes on their own cd). That would have probably made me give the cd 5 stars. Don't get me wrong, i love the remixes. Level did a great job with his two. Buy this cd. Do it now.

Industrial music review great cd from a master
If you've heard any other of CoD's albums, and thought they were innovative, you will be blown away by this one. Everything on this cd is just as it should be. The programming is tight, the guitars churn, and the vocals are gritty without ever being overly harsh. This one is as good as it gets, and the remixes on the backside are just as interesting as the originals themselves.

Industrial music review Yet another CD that is literally impossible to make better.
There are very few of these types of albums- the ones in which an artist has totally mastered their style. Circle of Dust's Disengage is not only the best Circle of Dust album, but easily as good as any other album I've ever heard. Like Trent Reznor (probably the one most similar to him music-wise), Klay started out with a somewhat cloned sound and a batch of decently written but somewhat samey songs. His first album was kind of like Pretty Hate Machine with more aggression and guitars, in my opinion and was 3 stars or so. I don't have Brainchild, but it seem Ministry-esque to me. This is the equivalent of 'The Fragile' for Klay Scott. All the melodies on here all beautiful and memorable, and you wouldn't believe how much harmony and such he adds to it. The songs are so smoothly constructed that on first listen it almost seemed like one instrument. I definitely agree with another reviewers assessment of this CD as having a 'dark blue mood'. An impulse buy that's worth your time, period. I couldn't have been more happy with it.

  • Shore Lined Poison
  • Grave Wisdom
  • T.F.W.O.
  • Morpheus Laughing
  • Reclamation
While never particularly accessible to begin with, Skinny Puppy reacted to the mainstreaming of industrial (Ministry, KMFDM) with their most challenging disc. Reissued with new packaging, 1990's Too Dark Park does not follow the path set by its predecessor, Rabies, which dabbled in rock structure and pomp. There are most definitely guitars here, but nothing resembling a riff or hook. Each track is already filled up with layers upon layers of audio collage, abrasive squalls, squawks, and squelches, with less emphasis on the clever film samples and tortured vocals of frontman Nivek Ogre. For the first time, his prose seems disconnected from the sound sculpture, hanging alone in its anguish. Signature beats keep Too Dark Park in the industrial-dance genre, and although the pace does let up on occasion ("Nature's Revenge"), its overall cacophony ("Reclamation") makes it a dense listen. --Liisa Ladouceur

Industrial music review Soundtrack to the Apocalypse
This is, without a doubt, one of the best albums in the Industrial genre. Being a reformed Industrial nut, Too Dark Park stands as one of the few albums from the genre that I still listen to regularly. Dark, avant-garde, bizarrely catchy, nightmarish, hallucinatory, this is just a thoroughly compelling listen from beginning to end. I'd recommend this album to anyone with even the slightest interest in dark or experimental music.

''GRAVE WISDOM''

Industrial music review Too Dark Park ~ Skinny Puppy
Too Dark Park is Skinny Puppy's most avantgard release and it came as a respond to industrial music becoming popular and adaptinga more "easy listening" approach and was in total contrast to their more standard rock release Rabies. This is a massive attack of layered sounds, distorted guitar riffs and vocals that have been masively altered with vocoders and other electronic treatments. This is a far cry for their basic first releases (bites & remission) and it shows them dabbling with equipement that they could dream of in the early days. The book-let is quite nice and it has a very strange art that could be said to look like medieval pictures of hell with evil beasts and and the worm on the back looks like a fiend from hell. This is a very different album and the most challenging Skinny Puppy release up to this point.

Industrial music review Sarcastic Satirical Fun
The reason why I bought this cd was to prepare for Voltaire in concert about a month after I purchased the cd. And the only way I was able to trust it enough was through other customer reviews. Let me just say that it is fantastic if you like satirical lyrics and ballad like tunes, especially if you like the use of classical instruments. I feel as if I've been cast into some medieval concert hall. Great fun, especially if you are a fan of dark humor.

Industrial music review Almost Inhuman...
...how Voltaire manages to capture your attention on this CD. Most of it is probably not for happy shiny people, but then I've never exactly been nominated for any Susie Sunshine awards. These songs hang around in your head and they won't go away. Voltaire is a versatile musician, able to flow from one style to another with ease. Of his three CDs that I have, this is my favorite. Buy it. If you think and you have a dark sense of humor, you will love it...

Industrial music review So goths DO have a sense of humor
I'm glad to see I'm not the only goth out there with a sense of humor. All of this man's albums range from silly to sincere with wit and well orchestrated melodies. Songs like God Thinks and Feathery Wings show a more provocative side of Voltaire, while tunes like Headless Waltz prove that he is still hilarious and fun to dance to. This is my favorite of his three and a half albums (Banned On Vulcan maxi-EP also available) and I'm lucky enough to boast a signed copy.
