Industrial music review Desmo Donte is the King of Vampires
Desmo Donte is THE band to listen to on this cd. The lead singer, Riccardo has a beautiful voice that haunts deep to your innermost soul...."Into the Sun" still lingers in my mind....good job Desmo Donte...and Riccardo :)

Industrial music review Excellent
These are the sort of songs my favorite goth club djs play, but I hadn't heard most of these. I had heard ExVoto, saw them in concert, they were awesome. I'd love to find more cds of theirs.

Industrial music review Great etherial Goth from the immortal Ex-Voto and others.
This is the kind of compilation Cd that you can just let run...no wannabe covers from Puff Daddy...its all etherial Goth. Ex Voto has been around a long time, and developed a loyal following. This effort prominently features the voice of the stunningly beautiful Babalon (shes also on the cover of their new CD). If you're into it, see their website too...you can get more CDs there.

Industrial music review Incredible Energy
This is some of the most energetic music that I've heard, and yet isn't retarded on the musical side of it. Most drum and bass is not all that heavy on the music side of it, and is focused mostly on the beats. This is nowhere near the case from this duo. And they do more than just drum and bass, there's some crazy break beat, and even a track blurring genders, with a sort of electro/industrial breaks feeling to it. The guitars they bring with the music add an incredible twist, adding even more to the energy. Great CD all around, I'd recommend this over most drum and bass CD's out there right now.

Industrial music review WOW!
Aaaaaah. It's refreshing to finally hear something like this. I've been searching for this sound forever! They take the insane tempos of hardcore techno, add some great samples, killer guitar riffs and mind boggling beats and make them sound like never before. I would recommend thisd to anyone who likes fast paced electronic music and is sick of the juvenile and ridiculous Atari Teenage Riot acts.

Industrial music review killa--(:--
A must have for all hardcore raver techno fans.

Compilations are usually the TV dinners of musical releases. Yeah, you'll get your Salisbury steak, but you know the peas are lurking in the next compartment. Well, Electropolis, Metropolis Records' first various-artists collection, mostly steers us away from the wilted veggies and offers some tender meat to chew on. The disc is really almost a who's who of '90s industrial dance music, with many of the genre's four-star chefs making an appearance. Front Line Assembly whip up a previously unreleased drum & bass-inflected track that wouldn't have been out of place on their FLAvour of the Weak album; :Wumpscut: bring to the table a German version of "Soylent Green"; and we are treated to tasty tracks from Haujobb, Evil's Toy, Funker Vogt, and Mentallo & the Fixer. The other cuts? Well, they come mostly in the form of lumpy mashed potatoes (Thinkingman, Out Out) and overcooked rice (the usually strong In Strict Confidence). Oh, well. If you can't stand the heat... --Steve Landau

Industrial music review Twining the Threads of Genres
When I first started bringing Metropolis albums to my home, it was a hit or miss process that I wasn't sure of and that I sometimes found myself regretting. Granted, they do produce some of the best music in the world when it comes to EBM acts, but randomly picking and choosing personas to bring into the fold wasn't the best way to taunt the day. Then, by some freak chance, I bumped into my first Electropolis album and found that there were a few bands I hadn't tried here, that some people I had made rash judgments on were actually a lot better than I had given them credit for, and that this form of electronic music encompassed more ground than I thought. While on the heavier side of the EBM rainbow, most of the acts here are pretty versatile, and the coverage of the sampler is good and allows a little bit for ever taste that cares for techno/industrial/EBM dancefloor melodies out there.

Many of the tracks on the album bear noting because they are pretty creative and are actually enjoyable to listen to. Front Line Assembly's Bliss, sculpting an exotic plateau that isn't as dark as their normal works but that still carries its weight, joining Numb's Blood, perhaps their best work ever because of the voxed lyrics and the heavy yet darkly contrived sounds, the heavier sounds of Wumpscut's Soylent Green (in German), Informatik's Entropy that flashes me back to a time when all their words were voxed and all their sounds seemed possessed by shadows, Mentello and the Fixer's almost screamed vocals on the distortedly heavy Vision (some don't like the remix, but I thought it was good), an older Funker Vogt release that still wears their heavier sounds, Terminal Sect's slower BPMing Backwards Effigy that becomes catchy after a few listens, and others as well. This isn't to say that everything is perfect on the album because it isn't, but it does state that, in the world of samplers, it is a cut above the rest because of its listenability.

For anyone wanting to look into some older Metropolis releases and experience some of the heavier sounds resting on the steps of electronic angst, then this would be something worth checking out. There are quite a few bands here that have the ability to hook their listener, plus many of them have something - albeit dark most of the time - about the world and its sociopolitical ways of running things. It, along with quite a few other Metropolis albums, comes highly recommended.

Industrial music review Broaden Your Horizons
This compilation by one of industrial musics premier record label's, Metropolis, offers up almost every important band in modern EBM / industrial dance. You have some staple acts like Front Line Assembly (with what was probably an unreleased song from FLAvour Of The Weak) to :wumpscut: (a Soylent Green in German). Both of these tracks are worth full price of the CD. But wait, there's more!
There's a remix of Numb's dark and evil 'Blood' from their Wasted Sky release. Da5id Din's Informatik offers up 'Entropy', an excellent track. Numb remixes Thinkingman's 'Screaming Saints' to abrasive perfection while In Strict Confidence offer an extended mix of their awesome 'Prediction'. Out Out, Terminal Sect, Necrofix and Evil's Toy all serve up some great industrial tracks, making this the best compilation CD I own.
Weaker track that I found (or ones that didn't suit my tastes) were Mentallo & The Fixer's remix of 'Vision'. I really like MATF but this mix really seems to have no direction. I am not a big fan of the techno side of industrial, but if you do, Funker Vogt's 'Killing Fields' would definitely be for you. Haujobb and Snog are both bands that I'm not too fond of either and these tracks are exemplory of the music they make. If you like these bands, this would be good for you.
Basically for the average industrial fan, this CD is all hit-no shxt. Highly recommended.

Industrial music review A wonderful Metropolis sampler
This is a great collection of industrial, whether it's for the purpose of introduction or collection. This album has enough remixes and unrealesed goodies, like Wumpscut's German Soylent Green, to satisfy the jaded listener. I was glad to hear the established acts like Numb and Mentallo along with a couple of lesser known bands. All the songs are great - I love Snog's Born to be Mild, and the FLA instrumental is priceless. Thanks go to Metropolis for a great album.

Industrial music review Great techno-industrial CD you must own.
This is by far one of the best CD's in my collection FOR GOOD REASON!!!! It pulsates and grinds away like industrial was meant to but unlike a lot of stuff it's actually listenable. It's clean and structured, which makes it just amazing. If you love industrial but hate the tires-on-gravel, laryngitis vocals and distortion of most bands, this is for you. My favorite tracks include Leviathan, 2D, Wind of the North, Final Man, and Go Film, but all are great.

Industrial music review Fine, fine album.
If you have nothing from this band, but like dance industrial/EBM, then you're missing out. Mostly dark and heavy (but I wouldn't say angry) beats, and lyrics which are actually quite listenable and very complementary (to the music).

Industrial music review Another fantastic album by Die Form
This album is amazing. It's a worthy continuation of Die Form's previous work. All the tracks are awesome by themselves, but the album as a whole is a flowing masterpiece. My favorites are Transgressions and Suffocations.

Industrial music review A must have ....
Extremum is absolutely exquisite. While the pace is a bit different than other previous albums, every track has its own unique intensity, ranging from the ethereal to the horrific. The tracks flow smoothly in a natural progression. This CD confirms my belief that Fichot is a genius at capturing emotion in sound.

Industrial music review extremum=extreme pleasure
Extremum, from a great dark band called Die Form,is a great album.Being a fan of their other albums, especially Duality, they always have very strange, sexually moody, erotic tones in their music. Not for the faint hearted! If you enjoy macabre music, this album is for you. This album is a bit slower than theur other ones. But still just as effective.Definately an album filled with fantasies of sugarplums and opium filled dreams.

Industrial music review twisted
"I'm not crazy. I'm not deranged. I am... I am... I am TWISTED!" The theme that runs through 'Pandemonium'; my favorite song on this disc. These guys are good. No song is alike, but they're all good. Great engineering. The balance of instruments and vocals build upon each other and produce a feeling and a pressure in the listener, more than just a mix of sounds. And it's $0.01. You can't go wrong.

Gridlock's grinding noise and pounding, violent rhythms may owe much to the legacy of industrial bands of the late 1980s, but on Further, their sophomore release, the duo of Mike Wells and Cadoo prove they aren't out to make just another tired old industrial album. Light, soothing atmospheres are desecrated (but in a good way) by the percussive onslaught, as though pleasant dreams were being interrupted by unspeakable nightmares. Vocals manifest themselves in that coarse, typically industrial manner, but they are sparse and fitful, strategically kept out of the way of the music. The resulting mix places the group somewhere amid the musical Bermuda triangle of Skinny Puppy, Dive, and Autechre. There's a stark, terrible, apocalyptic beauty to the songs--sleek, seductive, but hiding a hideous secret. A very engaging recording and a worthy follow-up to 1997's excellent The Synthetic Form. Just don't listen to it alone in the dark. --Steve Landau

Industrial music review Gridlock is music for any situation...
Whether you're sad, angry, confused, happy or depressed. Gridlock will always leave you excited. This album is quite a bit darker than Formless (if you're familiar with that CD).

Bottom line, don't listen to it alone in a dark room... You may become scared very easily!

Industrial music review Staggering.
This work is simply unparalleled in any art genre. It grinds, floats, glides, and scrapes along in the most intriguing and mesmerizing fashion; quiet, whispered lyrics add texture at points, while crushing beats fall between simple and harmonious chords. Every track is fully unique: "Sever" develops into a progressive, beat-driven machine takeover, while "Scrape" devolves into aural chaos; conversely, "Ash" builds itself out of almost nothing into a pensive, haunting hymn, and the title track "Further" overlaps into an almost mantra-like chorus of synths and clicks. Pure auditory magnificence.

Industrial music review Classic
This is truly a classic within the so called Industrial genre."Further" combines hasrh power-like noise strucute, with dark ambient drones and ambience, and for even more depth throws in minimal, yet deep meanings lyrics. An amazin release from this San Fran based band, a cd to dream to, to read to, to..do whatever you want. If you like this cd, check out Gridlock's side porject, Dryft..
