Industrial music review The Exploration of Human Nature
In the beginning, there silence despite noise and nothing spoke despite the bombarding of voices that heralded from their hollowed homes. Then, in a dark cloud of transition, voices were taught the seeds of angst and tolerance for the supposedly intolerable. This birthed dissension from the mentalities of the ordained orders of things, and a popular front of musical angst was born. It was a multi-headed beast wearing the adornments of scorn for things it saw copulating around its eyes, for the traps mankind waltzed within while traversing on the proverbial toes of one another, and it found itself jaded and somewhat affected by these notions. So, something bleak and menacing in its own rights began to morph and take root as a mouthpiece to minds it likened as something like itself. After a time, the works grew into heavily voxed machines and electronic beats drumming away on all fronts of humanity, taking the forms of bands like Informatik and their initial release, Direct Memory Access 2.0.

Within Direct Memory Access 2.0, there are so many things that go right for a band just finding the footing that would later lead it down paths that would further morph into Syntax and then into the quite-different Nymphomatik, not to mention the side project Din Fiv and its two releases. The techno/electro/industrial copulation works well with the lyrical contents of the songs inside, and the almost growlingly dark machine of a voice speaking from its pulpit becomes yet another instrument, working to further refine the beats being produced. Samples crowd for room within the confines of the tracks, further accenting the works, making little proclamations of their own that seed many a track. The first song is a seemingly dark call to sexual orientation in calls to explore a little "Human Nature." The second, one of my more favored releases from the band in their early workings, is a proclamation to be able to self-govern oneself and thwart the devices of selfsameness in "Autonomous." This mix is a darker, more angst-filled piece, whereas the album manufactures another version of it, proving the machine behind the voice can also sing in an 80s rendition of the same song, "Autonomous-Nothing Is Real Mix." Its actually catchy, drifting down roads that show you just what a little instrumentation and heavy distortion can do to something that some produces. Perhaps my favorite track off the album is "Silicon," one that heralds a transformation of flesh into silicon, of man into mechanical device, and the horrors that come from that becoming. There are also other portions of the album that drift into stranger arrays, plus there are mostly musical renditions of songs that take the listener through a sampling of vocal clips and musical horizons (I Confess).

If you've yet to experience Informatik in its many forms, this or Evolution would be the starting points I would recommend for introductions. This isn't to say that Nymphomatik isn't a great piece, but it does get mixed results from the listening populous. Besides, with men becoming machines, the sadism mixing with romance, proclamations of not wanting to conform, and the beauty in the depravity of vocal machinery, what wouldn't be to like? Highly recommended.

Industrial music review Informatik: Tearing it up!
Danceable, hard songs. A very cool Cyber/Industrial Band from Boston (my home city, always a plus .) Like the band Xorcist they include short bursts of words from movies and such. Informatik uses tracks and bursts of words that fit the song, much better than Bat of Xorcist does. They repeat certain verses in their songs over and over, sometimes to stupidity but others it works well.

Great CD with beautifully crafted Cyber/Industrial music.

Industrial music review The best band in the world
Buy this album now. You will not regret it. Both seperate albums are solid and heavy and don't quit till the last song. There may even be a bonus track at the end. Everything about this group is heavenly, the riffs the vox and most importantly the drumming. These two albums are 10 times better than 'Purified in Pain' and still to this day I haven't found a better metal band. I saw a Purified in Pain poster in a bar in Bangkok too, thats how good these guys are.

Industrial music review awesome diversity, talent, and extremity
The guitarist, Chris Hill is one of the best guitar players ever. The riffs have a lot of variety. Matt Sanders is the most insane drummer I have ever heard. The guy can play way faster than Flo from cryptopsy, and awesomely. The vocalist sounds like somebody made him kill his own family. This is a very original album.

Industrial music review great release
aussie band damaged's first two EPs combined and remixed into one release. brutal, mind bending mixture of speed, death, hardcore & grindcore metal and at times experimental. flawless drumming courtesy of matt sanders and killer riffing by chris hill. includes a cd-rom video for "nailz". buy this beast!!! \m||m/

Industrial music review New Zone revisited
New Zone records was a pioneering electro-techno label who's releases formed the very roots of the German techno movement at the start of the 1990's. A collection of New Zone & it's sub labels were previously available on rare and long since deleted compilation... 'New Zone History Vol. 1'. Electronic Classix picks up all the tracks from this seminal compilation and completes the back catalogue with many more.

This is truly an excellent collection of very early German techno from one of the most influential labels of the day.

Industrial music review Pure Roots Techno
If you want to know how the Techno Music has started this CD is one of your first lessons. This compilation brings some of the most important tracks of European techno as it was in the early 90?s... These songs are the base for the hyped new ELECTRO style... So if you like Miss Kittin, Tiga, Felix da Housecat,... listen to this album and discover from where they got inspired.

Industrial music review Good CD!
This is one of the best collections of dance/techno/Electronic music I have purchased. If you are into this type of music, this a keeper. Check the Real Audio feeds to get a good feel for what is on this CD.

Industrial music review Martians on the Moon!
When I first looked into Metropolis Records and the variety of artists they offered, I found myself impressed with many of them but not wanting to sort through these names at once. Still, I found that Metropolis was kind enough to understand my laziness, putting out samplers that could be really helpful when needing to know what a band sounds like - especially if you have to have constantly new sounds ringing in your listening ears. Moreover, the samplers, especially the ones wearing the Electropolis and Critical Mass logos, are done in such a way that they provide a little bit of everything on the EBM side without slighting you with anything particularly vile. To me, that's an important part of constructing a mix album.

Within the confines of this release, there are a few exclusive remixes and, for fans of Funker Vogt, and exclusive track that I found pretty entertaining. The vocals on this FV piece are HEAVILY distorted, to the point of forcing one to listen carefully to actually understand what its about, but deciphering it and finding out that it was about Martians and space conquests was actually entertaining and odd for them. This did fit into their war theme a bit, I suppose, but it seemed to be them having a little fun and doing what they wanted to do at the same time. Also included is a great track from Informatik that uses heavily voxed beats while proclaiming that war changes nothing, the Mentallo and the Fixer track that isn't as experimental - and for people just now looking into them, they are really on the experimental side of the rainbow - but is notable and pretty heavy at the same time, a Numb song that ranges in some of their better (but not best) work, the always enjoyable Apoptygma Berzerk that doesn't fit into the heavy or voxed range of motions but that does craft great EBM sounds with good lyrics and vocals, some darkly overcast Wumpscut addition that is heavier than the norm they put out, and others that would be worth looking into.

For anyone that likes EBM music, electronica, and the collision of political messages in their clouded, angry skies, then this would be something to look into. It has quite a few things to offer int he way of sampling, letting a person check out what they want to buy or what they wouldn't be interested in, plus the quality of the tracks herein is a cut above the normality of samplers. Also, it has a Funker Vogt song that is commendably done and that can't be found anywhere else, so my recommendation is to buy and learn about interplanetary conquest.

Industrial music review Great for any RiViThEaD!
Why would you not want this CD? For the Prodj. Pitch and Mentallo & the Fixer songs alone...it is worth it! Then they throw in Frontline Assembly, Wumpscut, and Front 242 tracks for good measure! I guess the only thing to tell you it that it's a bit on the heavier side of industrial (puppy, leatherstrip), rather than the etherial side (delerium, die form). If you like Project Pitchfork and FLA, then this CD is a VERY safe buy!

Industrial music review A smart, dark, seductive soundtrack - without a movie...
Ipecac Loop's Cd eX is one of my favorites. I've had it for a few years now and I still listen to it at least once a month. It never loses its depth of expression, its magic, or its artistry - it never rings a false note, it never tries too hard. At times it is a cross between ambient-industrial and Bach - and others, a soft, electronic hell of static and madness, sound-sheets and live wires...But always innovative, and always, without fail, sincere...

Industrial music review Awesome ambient music...
This is a really great CD that I've often used just as background music while I'm doing things. I'm not the type of person who can listen to music while doing other things too often, but this is really nice ambient music that you can really get into. Since the original publisher has disappeared, the artist decided to re-release the album himself on his own "label". Nifty. :) If you like ambient music with a great beat and a rather catchy sound... buy this CD and support an independent artist with great potential and an awesome debut. :)

Fans of Godsmack’s dark, swirling, commanding music will be delighted by the Boston band’s powerful third effort, which mixes arena rock in the vein of an Alice in Chains (in fact, Godsmack takes its name from an AIC song) with the aggression of Pantera. With new drummer Shannon Larkin (formerly of Amen), Godsmack stick with the riff-heavy, layered tunes and sharp, confident bridge-burning lyrics (witness the convincing vitriol of "I F@?king Hate You"). Highlights include Sully Erna’s gut-spewing scream on "Changes," the memorable chorus and commanding assured "I Stand Alone," and the radio-ready "Straight out of Line." The tribal drums and chanting of the instrumental "The Awakening" sets the stage for "Serenity," the final track, which brings Faceless full circle, the acoustic guitars, congas and strings providing a sinuous conclusion to a potent alb! um. --Katherine Turman

Industrial music review I'm breaking my own vows, knowing I'll go down in flames...
I've been hooked on Godsmack ever since I heard their first album. Each one has a slightly different sound to it but all of them sustain quality all the way through - no "album fillers." This long awaited album is no exception, full of great guitar riffs, sexy unique vocals and skilled drum work. I was worried that 'Smack may have lost their edge since the loss of their drummer Tommy but Shannon has possibly even improved their sound. Awesome. A must have for any Godsmack, or infact decent music, fan.

Industrial music review HI INTENSITY
I WON'T GO TO MUCH INTO THE ALBUM,BUT ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS IT IS AWESOME HARD ROCK,WITH GREAT RIFFS AND GREAT VOCALS.IF YOU LIKED THE FIRST TWO CD'S,YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE.THEY GET BETTER WITH EACH ONE.I WOULD LOVE TO SEE GODSMACK AND DISTURBED TOUR TOGETHER.IN MY OPINION THEY ARE THE BEST HARD ROCK GROUPS OUT THERE NOW.(BUT LET'S NOT FORGET ABOUT METALLICA,NEW ALBUM DUE IN JUNE).

Industrial music reivew Electronic at its best
If you've heard The Azoic's previous albums, this one may come as a partial surprise. They have moved from a slower, darker sound to a more dance floor-oriented sound - and it's a complete success in my opinion. Some tracks are truly outstanding, such as Progression and Redemption. A great value.

Industrial music review This is no paradise, but you'll be mystified
I was jumping into Azoic's homepage by chance and listened to a few of their clippings over the internet and was haunted by Kristine's dark and luring vocal immediately. I bought it over the net immediately.

Claiming their music as Fallen Poetics, you can find beautiful and thought-provoking lyrics along with dance floor beat. You are assumed in "Lost", as if you were waving your body in a dark disco...all alone though.

"I know the healing is painful and the heartache unbearable,

but don't dismiss me so quickly until you see inside of me" ~ Lost

Lovers' words....Azoic talks about love in "Lost", about God in "Redemption", about war-crime in "Crave into You", about relationship in "Harsh Reality", about rage in "Evolution", about sex in "Not Justified"... The words are written in a poetic, shadowed, intense feeling way.

"I cannot separate the past from what could last. Or what might always be." ~ Harsh Reality

"And it's coming inside of me, oh my hands are tied.
My soul is being cleansed now, but I am not justified." ~ Not Justified

An interesting combination with the high discotheque electronic dance beat, Kristine's vocal keeps your body wave all night. I highly recommend the album. Looking for more from Azoic...

Industrial music review Progression...
Since last we checked in with the Azoic (Where Broken Angels Lie) one band member moved to Arizona and another left the group entirely. With no small bit of effort lead singer Kristy Venrick and keyboardist Steve Laskarides decided to engage in the difficult task of continuing work on their music despite the long distance between them.

The new material the band put together for this, their third release is somewhat different from previous efforts. A very deliberate foray has been made into the realm of EBM (in the vein of such bands as Funker Vogt and :wumpscut: ) which changes the tempo and overall tone of their sound. Gone are the shifting sonic voids and cold synths so prevalent in "the divine suffering" and (to a lesser extent) "Where Broken Angels Lie." Instead one finds "forward..." to be rich in very danceable hooks and pulsing beats. Kristy's vocal work has also changed a bit, and while her ethereal verses are missed she still retains the rich emotion and sensual appeal in her voice. On "forward..." she also carries the nearly the entire vocal load herself, with Steve taking over only on the Matrix-esque "Evolution" track. Despite these changes in sound the end result retains the identity of the band very well; never does one get the feeling the lead singer has simply changed groups.

With 7 original tracks and 4 quality remixes the CD has a lot to offer. Anyone who enjoyed the Azoic's prior work will likely be glad just to get their hands on more work by this innovative group, and fans of EBM, electronica, Darkwave and Goth would do well to pick it up. In a genre that at times grows stale with scraping male vocals and over-distorted noise it's definitely a step "forward" to hear more beat driven EBM with such a talented female lead.

Industrial music reivew Es ist nur ein Zeitgeist
Bile is an industrial band with distorted vocals and guitars with a bunch of soundbytes which gives them a great raw sound. I really enjoy listening to this album, especially Suckpump. Another good thing about these cd's is that they come together for the price of one. The only drawback are the tracks of soundbytes and other noises, I just see these tracks as filler and Teknowhore has most of these filler tracks. My favorite tracks would have to be Head, I Reject and Get Out. So if you like distorted industrial music or want something different then these cd's are for you.

Industrial music review AWESOME CD!!!!!!!
This cd is (...) insane!!! It's Suck Pump and Tekno Whore put together...If you dont have any of those, save some money and buy Frankenhole b/c Suck Pump and Tekno Whore are out of print and (...)(I got all of their cd's and the originals are better to have but expensive).
