Industrial music review Cohesive Eclecticism
Never have I heard an album so scyzophrenic. I could try to give you a generic summary of their sound, but it's so diverse that it would take forever. One song might be harsh noise with distorted, growling male vocals, the next could be beautiful ambience with angelic female vocals, the next song might combine the two. One song sounds almost like a rock/metal industrial song similar to KMFDM or Rammstein, still another sounds like a classical composition given a digital edge. Somehow, it all works together. How could something this eclectic feel so cohesive? Aside from all the songs being brilliantly composed, few of them seem to have much in common.

I know for a fact that all these songs were written by the band over the course of several years. They were just experimenting and wrote whatever they felt like at the moment with no intention of making them "work together", yet somehow they do. It's like listening to a classical concert where all the different styles merge into one story with brilliant results. Somehow, these four musicians have created an album that is far greater than the sum of it's parts or even the sum of it's creators.

People of all different musical tastes have found themselves captivated by this album. It's simply exceptional music and any music lover, regardless of their preferred genre or scene, should give this band a chance. This is pure art without any pretense or scene-posturing. This is what happens when aural artists create just for the sake of creating.

(If you are looking for other works by this artist, this is their only full-length CD. However, two of the members were the creative force behind November Commandment, an industrial band that sounded a little like a much colder, harder version of Depeche Mode. One of them created a concept piece about an industrial plant called Parca Pace and it became a unique band in it's own right. Parca Pace and Sanctum have songs on the Endtimes sampler as well and it's worth getting just for those compositions.)

Industrial music review stunning
This is an incredible album. Harsh industrial tracks alternate with angelic and angst-ridden female vocals to stunning effect. Not to mention lyrics borrowed from mystic Hildegard von Bingen. I am definitely going to check out their other albums.

Industrial music review wow
I bought this cd thinking it was really Macbeth, which I have on vinyl. It's even better than Macbeth, better than Occupied Europe--it is the bomb.

The improvisational and jazz qualities jump out at you as on no other Laibach albums. It is still quite industrial, sheet-metally.

Plus, you get a lot of Tito samples.

The last two tracks are from a Berlin show and are extremely improvisational.

Industrial music review Live aural torture!
This CD contains live recordings taken from three Laibach concerts in 84/85. The main one (from which the album takes its title) took place in Ljubljana on Dec. 21 1984 in memory of the deceased band member Tomas Hostnik. The coverart of the CD is the actual poster for the gig, and you may notice that the name of the group is nowhere to be seen; this is because at that time (82 - 87), Laibach's name itself was banned from the public arena by the authorities - the liner notes contain a great deal of interesting info about the historical significance of the concert.

What about the music? Well, this is definitely niche listening, being light-years removed from Laibach's sound today. Even those familiar with some of their earlier work may be surprised by the viciousness on display here. This is hardcore pounding early Industrial with a searing lower end that reverberates in your skull, complete with Neubaten-esque sheet metal sounds. To top it off, the band were experimenting with free jazz at the time, and so the tracks here also feature a shrieking clarinet being played pretty much at random along with the rest of the chaos. This may sound like a recipe for disaster but leads instead to musical nirvana (in my twisted opinion!), but is NOT for the meek! Standout track? 'Nova Akropola', here given the raw energy missing from the studio version, and featuring a monumental, slightly off-tune, bass line to die for!

I have every Laibach album (except for 'Neu Konservatiw) and this is my favourite. Recommended for those who like their music atonal and harsh.

    Industrial music review great music
If you like industial with guitar, or without, this has both, I'm a guitar player myself so the industrial I listen to has to have some guitar in it although I do like pure industrial that is purely electronic, so this is one cd I can listen to start to finish without skipping songs

Industrial music review This is THE industrial CD.
If you love industrial, you must own this CD. In my opinion, "High Tech Low Life" itself is worth buying the entire CD. It is one of the best songs I have EVER heard.

Industrial music review Stressed out? Xylon's the answer!
I first heard Xylon on a compilation I have had for a couple of years called 'Into The Mix'. I just happened to play it about a week ago and fell in love with Xylon's track 'Funky Alienation'. I can't believe I had this in my possession for so long and didn't realize how beautiful this track is. I just had to search Xylon on Amazon because I needed more. 'Mooncafe' is all I expected and more. Their tracks just present such a feeling of self-transcendence and freedom. The freedom to lift up and fly away. Wow! I am an avid fan of electronic music, particularly upbeat trance. I have plenty of Hypnotic's compilations and artist albums such as Aqualite and Astralasia. I love the psychedelic(goa) trance scene, but have been looking for the perfect chill-out trance album. But not necessarilly ambience. I believe I have finally found it. Funky Alienation, Bizarre Planet, and Mooncafe are the best tracks on this CD, but all are wonderful. Need some peace of mind? This is your answer. Great job Xylon!

Industrial music review A Combination of Melodic Tones and Rythmic Lifts
This recording sifts through melodies and tones that carry each piece higher into the clouds of mystery yet keeps the listener grounded with the cool, yet not disruptive, electronic rythms. The best tracks are "Bizarre Planet" and "Mooncafe" while the short "Prelude" begins the mood and the other pieces continue the cool atmosphere.

Industrial music review Great New Wave and Ethereal Mix - New Classic!
I've been a fan of Mera's work with Black Tape for a Blue Girl and Faith and the Muse for many years, with Remnants of a Deeper Purity being my favorite BTFBG album of all time where she appears as cellist and front-cover model. But you add Byron Brown's talents to the mix and Mera taking on the vocals and I was literally blown away from the first time I heard samples on mp3.com. I have had the album now since it first came out and it still gets tons of play on my stereo. This band is a classic that will remain on Gothic Paradise for as long as they are making music. The New Wave, Gothic and Ethereal influences all blend so well to create a very accessible, never boring and smooth sound. "Walking West" reminds me of the better smooth songs of Faith and the Muse and "Nu Wave Fairy" brings out the best of the New Wave genre rivaling and superceding other greats like Blondie and Berlin. This is highly recommended, see my full review at Gothic Paradise - www.gothicparadise.com.

Industrial music review gorgeous, I am madly in love with this album
I haphazardly stumbled upon this band while on mp3.com looking for cocteau twins similar artists, the album cover did not look promising but it is what's inside that counts, ey?
they sound like all of my favorite artists in one super sexy package. This cd is in heavy rotation on my stereo, it never becomes redundant or tiresome, each track is impressive and incredibly catchy, songs like "Shaky shaky bells" are Cocteau twin-ish, Mercurine is a bit more new-wave sounding than the aforementioned band at times.

I have listened to a ton of music and it comes down to this, plain and simple download rocks. Buy all their stuff before it goes out of print.

    Industrial music review Download: MICROSCOPIC
This EP consists of mostly dance remixes from the album "Furnace",and has three new tracks for a grand total of eight tracks."Microscopic" was manily released for club play only, but is much better than that. The music on "Microscopic" EP is exactly along the same lines as the first album, the remix tracks for the most part have a dark and thundering bass line feel, that should appeal to the club crowd and anyone who loves industrial music.
    RELEASED ON CLEOPATRA RECORDS
DOWNLOAD IS :Dwayne Goettel(r.i.p), cEvin Key, Mark Spybey, Phil Western and Genesis P-Orridge

Industrial music review Only for fans of Furnace!
This CD is worth getting, but know what you are getting into! This is not as wierd as Download gets, but it is pretty wierd! I won't hesitate to recommend it though, there are some really cool songs on here!
