Industrial music reivew Cooler than "Kooler Than Jesus".
From what I see, this disc is basically just the "Kooler Than Jesus" ep with extra tracks. Hey, fine with me, I'll take those first 7 tracks remastered. Obviously besides the better sound, this includes another 6 prime cuts. "A Daisy Chain For Satan" and "Leathersex" can be found elsewhere, but both are excellent. We get a couple songs from the "Showgirls" soundtrack on the end here too. But the best addition is the "A Girl Doesn't Get Killed By A Make-Believe Lover/'Cuz It's Hot" combo. In a way it's a rather strange collection, and in another way, it's absolutely essential to the TKK fan. They have a "best of" out also.

Industrial music review cuz it's kooler than hot
I can't get into most new music... I can't get into a lot of newer "goth" either, it's hard to just like newer stuff for what it is. So, I've been going backwards for the past several years, & I've been playing catchup with some of the bands I didn't get a chance to hear before, or have liked for a while & it just took me a while to get into them... as is my case with TKK. I first heard "Sex on Wheels" in '92 & slowly heard some other songs along the way. I was too young for the early Wax Trax days, & didn't really get into them until college when I got I See Good Spirits & I See Bad Spirits. This quickly became one of my favorite driving-to-or-from-a-club cd at the time, & I also recognized a couple of songs that they played at these clubs. However, I didn't get this cd until last year... & I wish I had gotten it much sooner!! I'm not even sure why I got it, I just saw it & grabbed it cuz I desperately was lacking some more early TKK. Here're my track comments:

1. basically a remix of "And This Is What The Devil Does", or maybe even a rerecording that I read somewhere?
2. a slower track with an excellent creepy feel... really effective driving around in the dark *grin*
3. this always grabs me for some reason... just has some unexplainable hypnotic vibe
4. cool bassline... yes, after hearing The Crow soundtrack a zillion times b4hand, it dawned on me why the lyrics sounded familiar
5. another remix or remake of "And This Is What The Devil Does"... I'm confused as to the origins, I'll find out some other time I guess
6. it honestly took me a while to get into this one, but I do like this version better than the one on Confessions of a Knife (COAK), which is the version I've been more familiar with
7. heh, this song is just crazy, silly, dancy fun, I can never sit still. it makes me happy... the bassline is just too catchy... & the song's just too addicting!
8. ohhhh yes... although I really dig the songs b4 this one, making myself listen to them one after another makes this song well worth the wait. I know I heard this at a club one time years ago & didn't know who it was... so I asked the DJ, & after finding out it was them, I knew I had to get my hands on it. I just had no clue what album it was from, & forgot about it... now I know. definitely my favorite, & has quickly become one of my fave TKK songs.
9. I luv this song... the distinctive scream just describes your most aggravating day too perfectly... although I do like the mix on CoaK better.
10. I've heard this one before too, although probably the CoaK version. This one took time to grow on me, but I really dig it now.
11. omg (*semi-sarcasm*), this song is just too cool... I can't explain why, I won't even try.
12. very different than most of the songs on here.. saxes, horns, piano, etc... but it's still good
13. mmm, dreamy clubby goodnes... & I do believe I heard a glimpse of it on the movie Showgirls *grin*

Overall, a must-have for anyone's gothy-dance collection. I've had it over a year, & I've found myself listening to it VERY frequently, considering other newer cds by other bands I've neglected because I've overplayed this one... don't TKK feel special now *grin*. Now hopefully next month I'll actually catch them live for once!

Industrial music review Cuz it's hot!
MLWTKK was one of the most cleverest groups in the early Wax Trax! days. A clever blend of Disco/Industrial complete with plenty of gay sensibility, camp and cheesy B-movie Satanism. Groovie Mann and Buzz MCCoy along with the Bomb Gang Girlz delivered some of the most memorable club hits of their time. This collection includes what is truly the best of the Thrill Kill Kult. As the group went on, they lost some of that magic touch. This is the Classic TKK. Includes the great 12" Dance Single "A Girl Doesn't Get Killed . . ." Too bad it is missing the KMFDM Remix of "The Days OF Swine and Roses" which is one of the best club singles ever. Find it!

New Violent Breed, Vol. 1
Released in Audio CD by Allegro Corporation (02 March, 1999)
Amazon base price: $16.99
Used price: $5.95
Buy one from zShops for: $13.28
Artist: Various Artists

Tracks:
  • Goddess - Threat Level 5
  • Take Care (Careless Version) - Funker Vogt
  • Solitary (Signals Edit) - VNV Nation
  • Hero (Aghast View Mix) - In Strict Confidence
  • Crashtime - Scar Tissue

  • Wasteground (DSP Edit) - Chain
  • Red 5 - Yavin 4
  • Truthlike (Biopsy RMX) - Aghast View
  • The Fear - Pulse Legion
From Oakland, California's COP International label comes this tidy sampler of 15 industrial bands and what they've been occupying themselves with as the millennium draws to a close. Predictably, it's grim stuff--as if song titles like "Crashtime," "Suffering," and "Wasteground" weren't enough of a hint, not to mention the disc's title. Industrial clichés aside, this proves to be one of the stronger compilations on the market, clocking in at a value-added 73 minutes and featuring several worthwhile remixes and exclusive tracks from some familiar and not-so-familiar names. Highlights include VNV Nation's melodic "Solitary (Signals Edit)," the much-improved Pain Station's "Martyr," Solitary Experiments' strictly Teutonic "God, Where Are You," and Yavin 4's aggressive (and very impressive) drum & bass symphony, "Red 5." --Steve Landau

Covers the best of the electronic genre, no doubt a must have for fans and music lovers of all kind. A worthwhile investment... ~sekhemet

Industrial music review One of the best Electro bands around.
If you are into the likes of Evil's Toy, Informatik, Din Fiv, or any european electro band, you will love Funker Vogt. Personally, I would start with Execution Tracks, then proceed to this album. You won't find better.

Industrial music review [...] it up Pigface!
It's almost ten years old and i'm still lovin' it. Asphole is a great opening track- percussive and full of chants, screams, and effects. Divebomber is good punk-style Pigface with Flea from RHCP on bass (I think) thrown in for good measure. [...] it Up has the band coming off like psychotic cheerleaders strung out on heroin. A great sing-along track. Chicksaw has badass chick vocals from Leslie of Ruby and Silverfish. Psalm Springs Eternal is funny until Steamroller tears it to shreds with it's tongue in cheek dirtball metal vocals and screams so distorted that it seems impossible that they could come a human's throat. All of this set to Atkin's incredible drumming style. A true industrial classic.

Industrial music review Incredible mix of genres and sonics. Must have indie.
A great pigface album that spans many genres. Track 6 is one of my alltime favorites. If you don't have any Pigface already, this is a good starter into one of the greats. Worth the money.

Industrial music review music!
This double-single companion to Gash has remixes of what I guess would be the 2 singles from Gash & has some previously unreleased or rare songs from the Gash recording sessions. He spent 7 years on Gash & made hundreds of songs for it -- all kinds of brilliant stuff -- & honed it into a 12 song album. The Gash recording sessions had produced many many times that number. The songs released here are brilliantly, carefully composed Foetus chaos that are so great but just didn't fit the overall feeling of Gash. The remix of Friend of Foe is fairly similar to the version on Gash. The Verklemmt remixes are more technofied, & one of them is instrumental, no vocals. My favorite song on this is See Dick Run, made up musically of 2 very different halves -- the first with a keyboard that is almost happy-go-lucky but maniacal & plotting & with Jim Thirlwell's heavily distorted very flat vocal delivery of a twisted narrative; the second with densely layered composed noise with beautiful melodies over it, sinking into it. The song also features a great sample from The Brady Bunch: "baby talk baby talk, it's a wonder you can walk!" Other new songs on this have all different kinds of stuff in them. I hope this review has been helpful to you.

Industrial music review foetus does it again
This collection of outtakes and b sides makes you wonder what else was left on the cutting room floor. This is intense music for intense people. Bleeding heart new age types stay away because Foetus will take you on a journey that will rip your soul in half, chew it up, and spit it bloody and beaten in your face. Quite lovely music actually.

Industrial music review BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!!
The first KSK song I heard was "Follow Me" off of the "Wired Injections" compilation disc (which has a pretty cool cover by the way, as well as a really kick @ss selection of tunes, not one of 'em sucks). I went out and got this album shortly after, and I listened to it constantly for months. KSK is awesome. Don't really like a lot of their newer stuff (a few good songs in there), but this album is definitely a must buy!

Industrial music review Pure aggression.
This was my introduction to Kill Switch... and it jumped out of the player at me. I always listen to this when I'm feeling particularly aggressive. This band has a pushy and sexual sound. "Insemination" makes me want to jump anything that moves! Get some!

Industrial music review The Young Gods are unbelievable!!!
"Only Heaven" is in my humble opinion, the best album of the 90s with "OK Computer" running a close second. If you like avant garde, techno, industrial, prog rock, etc. you should own this album. I saw them live in '95 on the tour for this album and they did not disappoint. Buy this record immediately!!!

Industrial music review Brilliant piece of work
Definitely one of my favourite albums. Unfortunately they have not caught on strongly with the North American audience, but this has to be one of the best CDs I own and I don't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Of all of the Young Gods' work, I think this was their peak of creativity. The new stuff doesn't sound the same. It's hard to classify, but if you like heavy music with a fusion of heavy guitars and drums with electronics, this is the album. It's better than any other industrial band I know (although I would classify this more as rock) including the Ministry. Take a chance. You won't be disappointed.

Industrial music review simply great
The Young Gods is one of the most interesting bands nowadays. They escape all boundaries and styles with a mixture of industrial, psychedelic rock and ambient textures that no other band has achieved to make with such brilliance.
It's a pity actually that this band's records are almost out of stock everywhere, cos they have made some of the most innovative and inspired albums of the 90's, even though they are ignored by media.

They have usually recognised as the band that invented sampled music, and even though may be a bit of an exageration, what is undeniable is that they were one of the first and definetely one of the best in handling sampled instruments.

This album is full of good songs, and that's what an album is supposed to contain. All of them are different enough to make the entire listening a very satisfying experience, and similar enough to give it a touch of conceptual unity.

If you ar familiar with the Young Gods, you'll know that with their previous album (TV Sky) they had made the most guitar-based album of their career, in a somewhat Ministry style. well, sort of.
With Heaven Only they combine those guitars with ambient passages and electronic devices.
Some songs are just short sketches ('Outside', 'Gardez les esprits') of no more than 1 minute long. Maybe fillers, it depends, but they are not bad at least.
There are a couple of pseudo-industrial guitar based songs ('Strangel', 'Speed of Night', 'Kissing the Sun') which are very energetic, but never as raw as for example Skinny Puppy or Ministry. They usually have ambient passages which make an interesting contrast with the guitars. The voice is energetic and with personality, but never disgusting. 'Kissing the Sun' is very catchy actually, a very good song.
Other songs are more electronic ('Donnez Les esprits', 'The dreamhouse', 'Lontaine') and are probably some of the best, since the electronics are innovative enough to delight us but not so cold as to kill the emotion transmitted by the melody. In fact, The Young Gods aer very good at melodies, and their songs sound to me very emotional. The most emotional of all is 'Child in a Tree', an acoustic guitar ballad full of melancholy.
And not to forget 'Moon evolutions', a more than 15 minute suit where they remind me of U2 and Pink Floyd with an industrial feeling, very interesting indeed, a song divided into 3 parts with a long ambient beatless passage in the middle.

I'm never sure which album I like best by The Young Gods, and that's a good sign I guess. But definetely Heaven Only is one of my favourite. If you think industrial music is just unlistenable music with distorted voices... or Mansonesque charade... give The Young Gods what they deserve... many listenings. For me, they are nowadays what Can were in the 70's.

Industrial music review Crunchy!
If you're looking for driving, aggressive beats and synth lines, this is THE album for you. As others have noted, bears a strong resemblance to what early Front 242 would sound like if they used modern equipment. A few tracks, however, fail to live up to the rest of the album ("Finalism", "God Bring Life") and catch it up at points. But the good tracks -- basically, the rest of the album -- more than make up for these faults. The title track, as well as "Blinding", are worth the cost of the whole damn album. Definitely one of the best industrial albums, ever, period.

Industrial music review Lucky Me!!
I stumbled onto the cd through getting a job where the artist works. I've loved the music ever since. This CD is great for the lover of the techno beat but they have a hard hitting style that
is pure energy.

Industrial music review MUST OWN !! !!
I picked this up cuz OUTBURN called these fellows the "Leaders of the US electro Industrial scene or something,.... OUTBURN was RIGHT ! This CD is a much needed SHOT in the ARM to EBM / ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL music that has become all too much like Wupscut or Covenant Wanna-Bees ! Ordr + Joy is back to the old school of Nitzer Ebb, KMFDM, Laibach & Front 242 BUT with a MODERN bent to it all! YOU just HAVE to hear it !

Industrial music review Loved Every F**king Second
From the start this album is very dark and has a sound that only Razed In Black could summon. There sound could be compared to Nine Inch Nails but that would be way to cliche. The whole album keeps you wraped up in it's grip untill the very end. Track 3 is my favorite because of the dark Techno beats and for the "Soft But Brutal" vocals. Even though this is a Remix CD it is still very well composed and brings your mind to the brink of madness in everything that it is.

Industrial music review An excellent CD
If you like Razed in Black or even if you don't, you should get this CD. Kicking things off with the title track, this CD is solid all the way through to the end track, Future Unknown, which is my favorite song on this CD and one of my favorite Razed in Black songs. My one complaint about this album: too short.

Industrial music review excellent - bravo - groundbreaking
this is the stuff dreams are made of and genres are based upon. this is a combination of many euorpean leaether strip releases in an american compilation from the soon to be out of business re-constriction records. i suggest you buy this one while its still around. ..if you can find it. aggrivating angst filled panic strucken screams against nazism, fascism, and for the pro-human carnal satanism movement pushed to teeth gritting extremes with furious analog beats.

Industrial music review A great album
I stumbled across this album in a used record store one day. It was my first experience w/Leaether Strip, and i instantly loved it. The vocals and lyrics are excellent, especially the distortion effect on all most all the vocals. Hauntingly classical electronic music.
