Industrial music review The name says it all
This is such a beautiful song. Its so powerful the amount of energy it builds up inside of you. I can say that the original (track 1) of this cd is the best of the single and its my favorite single of all haujobb's albums. This is definatly a great love making song hense the name. Vertical theory is a different story tho.

Industrial music review The new album's catchiest song given the royal treatment
Of course it's always hard to pick a "best" song off of any good album. I can definately say though that Penetration is the catchiest song off of Haujobb's new Vertical Theory album, and it's the one you'll most likely hear at the club. It's definately very, very fun.

These remixes are beyond excellent. Each one adds something fresh and unique to the song and it never gets boring. As an added bonus there're a few songs off of Polarity remixed here as well. I definately, definately recommend this release. It's great.

Industrial music review It lives!!!
Yes Haujobb is back....and I LIKE IT!!!! Sure the CD is a single, but, the music itself is so pumping. Penetration is a good song and I have to say the Floor mix and Forma Tadre mix is my fave best. There is even a power noise version...for you hard core fans. I can't wait for the new album.

Industrial music review Perfect Dream is Perfect Record
From the haunting opening '25' with it's multi-tracked vocal built around the repetition of a single plaintive verse to the distant thunder that introduces 'With Louise' - probably my favourite song of all time - and on through an album of peerless poetry and emotion this CD is indeed perfect. It's a tragegy that this band is becoming a forgotten relic of the late 80's indie scene. Discover them now, because I can't see this gem of a CD staying in print forever.

Industrial music review inspiring music for who likes to surf on INTERNET
Its an honor to be the 1st. one to add information about this CD. Im from Santiago, Chile.

Industrial music review And these few precious days...
The songs may be Kurt Weill's, but The Young Gods delivered one of the most startling, original and powerful albums of the 1990s with these eight cover versions - covers unlike any others. "Salomon Song" veers from dream-like vaudeville to nervous edginess and back again. "Mackie Messer" is the famous Mack-The-Knife routine taken into punk-rock, speed-metal territory ( sampled of course ) with German lyrics intact. Franz Treichler gives one of his greatest vocals on "Alabama Song", omitting pure evil as he snarls "Show us the way to the next little girl..." - sounding like a killer or pedophile before the song is hurled into a thunderous chorus. "Seerauber Jenny" reminds us of the kind of music we might have heard in a Berlin theatre or nightclub in Weimar Republic years, the song descending into an overpowering darkness at its climax. And then there is the utterly haunting and evocative rendition of "September Song".

No one produces music like The Young Gods.

Industrial music review TYG bring Weill back to life
We've all heard the old Doors cover of the Alabama Song,(yawn). Luckily, this isn't a doors album. The Young Gods took Weill's old tunes, (which were brilliant and controversial in their time) and made them their own. The original song is barely recognisable at most points, in it's place is pure industrial strengh ingenuity. Probably my favourite YG album.

Industrial music review Tackhead live!
this live compilation serves to show what a splendid band Tackhead were live. Really they were completely unique. Wimbish, Leblanc, sherwood and co produce what we thought wuld be the music of the future back then. A unique mix of reggae funk and hard rock with vocal samples. Well we are now in the future and unfortunately the music is still not as good.

Industrial music review Nearest thing to a Tackhead compilation
This CD provides a sampling of live recordings made during the existence of Tackhead during the late '80s - early '90s. The band was a meeting of the minds of two entities: the drummer, bassist and guitarist of the Sugarhill Records house band (The Message) ; and Adrian Sherwood, a British producer with his own On-U Sound label and stable of recording artists. The band had put out Major Malfunction under the drummer's name, Keith LeBlanc, on their own. The music combined funk basics completely transformed into a gothic-feeling proto-techno, a hybrid, perhaps of Skinny Puppy, George Clinton, and The Cure of Seventeen Seconds and Faith, as conceived by Throbbing Gristle. Approximately. Very significantly, they used samples entirely in place of vocals.

Adrian Sherwood started out emphasizing a reggae hybrid of the electronic side of early UB40-style British reggae (Tyler, Burden of Shame) with Jamaican roots (Prince Far I). He emphasized production as a major component in the sound creation, a la proto-Electronica. When he hooked up with/created Tackhead, it was a marriage made in heaven, because his production was the best aspect of the On-U Sound recordings, and the band's musicianship was de-emphasized in favor or the industrial conception on Major Malfunction. A third component was added to the mix, a vocalist to replace the samples on some tracks. The result: 12'' singles like "Hard Left", a funky, techno-ized underground dance hit featuring vocals by Gary Clail and samples of Margaret Thatcher speeches.

I'm not getting the history exactly right; the same individuals worked together under the name Fats Comet (more soul/funk oriented) and the Barmy Army (most vocals provided by recordings of soccer fans singing in stadiums), and later as the Strange Parcels. They also went by the name Maffia in backing up Mark Stewart's nihilistic rants. So which came first, I can't entirely say.

The point is, though, that some of these recordings were the best pop music of their time, and the only way to get a general sense of the band and its music on CD is to get this live edition of Power Inc., which as a series attempts to survey the group's history.

You should consider however: in addition to the party flavor of The Bubbly, Hard Left, The Game and Melle Mel's version of the Message, there are some hard-edged industrial sounds as well, such as the track Object/Subject from the Major Malfunction album.

On the other hand, there are two instrumental tracks that absolutely stand out and typify the heights the band could reach: Doug Storm and The King. The sampled vocal, Tackhead Sound System style appears on Mind at the End of the Tether, Ticking Time Bomb, and Air Born Ranger. In between the songs are snippets of a tape of band members trying to get the attention of a guy in their apartment to open the door for them. These work well in giving the proceedings a sense of place and time.

So some of it's rocking/funky, some of its weird/spooky, and most of it is as inspired/inspiring as pop gets. It's not perfect, but it deserves high marks because it's the best of its type available for this band. The first two volumes are all over the place, and just don't have the same sense of excitement. If you prefer the funky side of this music over and above the industrial side, check out "The English Disease" by the Barmy Army. It's very funky; having an interest in things British helps in digesting the soccer fan song samples. Perhaps best of all, listen to Pay It All Back Volume 3. It shows off the On-U Sound style (of the early `90's, the Tackhead period) in its most accessible form., and Doug Wimbish, Skip McDonald, Keith LeBlanc, and Adrian Sherwood are all over it, and it contains tracks by the Dub Syndicate and African Head Charge, other bands with multiple (instrumental) releases on On-U from the period. The sound on Pay It All Back Volume 3 is more Brit funk and pure reggae than industrial.

Industrial music review It could explode at any moment....
Having experienced the sheer power of live Tackhead (my god... over ten years ago!), I was impressed by the fact that they've lost none of their assaultive beat-force. McDonald, Wimbish (back from his stint with Living Colour) and LeBlanc are still the most amazing power trio on the face of this planet, and the recording is excellent. Highly recommended for testing speakers!

Industrial music review My favorite CD ever...
This CD may not be truly in the industrial vein, more content to add elements of industrial such as samples and loops into punk songwriting. But it is a fantastic album for anyone looking for biting insightful songs, full of bile about their surroundings or about the indignities of life.

The CD comments on the 1960's hippie movement, abuse, abortion, and other disaffections with society...

Brilliant.

Industrial music review The most beat up CD
Why is it the most beat up CD I own? Because since I got it back in 1999, it's been listened to so often that it's showing the wear now. I would recommend this CD, it's a good mix of styles and sounds. The mix of Outback by Aqualite is particularly good, in my opinion better than the original.

Industrial music review Good driving beats.
A great CD for driving your car, or dancing to. Full range of tunes and instruments. Very enjoyable. Tracer and My house are probably two of the best songs on the CD, but they are all good. You don;t have to be a raver to like this CD.

Industrial music review An Undeniable & Timeless Classic
Now that it's eight years old (eight years?!? where does the time go?), it's safe to say that Revelations 23, the debut album by the Texas brothers Mentallo & the Fixer, is one of industrial's all-time classic albums.

It STILL sounds fresh and innovative. From the pounding rage of "Scum of the Earth" to the unholy shrieks of "Fusion Mutation", from the dreamlike synths of "Grim Reality" to the turbo-charged "Legion of Lepers", this album is a relentless wonder from start to finish. Most of the songs feature multiple layers of percussion (including organic-sounding bells and chimes) and typical industrial throbbing rhythms and backing synths. However, these supposed industrial cliches are arranged in a fashion that is anything but typical. Gary and Dwayne Dassing produce music that has been often copied, but never successfully imitated - the sign of true artists. M&TF produce the soundtrack to a trip through a timeless, endless black cathedral: a grand, dark adrenaline rush. Although the follow-up album Where Angels Fear to Tread has an arguably more refined and melodic sound, Revelations is a masterpiece of stirring fury that even the Dassings themselves could never match. Lyrically, there's more here than may be apparent - the grittingly personal anti-drug message of "Cerebral Statik Overdose", the anti-rape "Fusion Mutation", and the disturbingly poetic "Inhumanities" all indicate that there's more to M&TF than just electronic mayhem.

If you define a classic as an album that never gets old and still causes your jaw to drop after years of listening, Revelations 23 fits that description perfectly. This is one of the high points in the history of industrial music. If you got into M&TF during their later releases, do yourself a favor see how it all started. More recent albums like Vengeance is Mine and Return to Grimpen Ward sound flimsy and uninspired when compared to Revelations 23. Fans should also not miss out on the fantastic compilation of unreleased tracks titled No Rest for the Wicked. In my view, Revelations 23 was the best industrial release of the 90s (perhaps the best ever) and I am sure it will continue to be imitated for a long time to come.

Industrial music review AWESOME!
'Revelations 23' was released in 1993. Think about what some other bands were doing around that time. No joke, I've had this cd for over 4 years, and I STILL find stuff in it I didn't notice before...great layers, very trance like, and very raw and spontaneous. Far ahead of its time, I swear I hear several modern dance artists copying some of the Dassing brothers techniques. I like this cd a bit more than their most reknowned cd 'Where Angels Fear to Tread', but that's just me. If you like Trance, Spacey sounds, and industrial dance rhythms, this is definitely for you!

Industrial music review The classical music Claus?
I can't say anything bad about this album. It's definately a different approach to music than Claus's other work. His love of classical music is very evident on this one. Even though I don't listen to much classical music, I find this album to be beautifully done. I'm not sure it's even fair to label this as classical. It's much darker and more unique and powerful than most 'classical' music. There's no techno, no lyrics just a fantastic piece of music from beginning to end.

Industrial music review Satanic Ecstasy...
Most excellent ritual & dark meditation musick. This album could quite possibly be the theme score of The Satanist. From one song to the next, it does not falter one bit, but instead, continues with inspirational & impressive pieces that feeds the dark soul. This is timeless musick that will survive the ages.

No redundant monotones, no weaka garbage, & no pop-culture trash. This is purely black. There aren't even lyrics, which leaves the use of this masterpiece entirely up to the Individual. It WILL enhance your Magical workings, guarenteed.

There are horror-movie type of arrangements, erotic middle-eastern soundscapes, & just overall, ever-consuming PASSION behind it all.

With song titles such as "The Return Of The Evil One", "New Dark Ages", Leatherstrip certainly gives The Devil His due. In fact, all members of Leatherstrip are COS members, which comes as no big surprise, considering the degree of talent presented here.

Indeed, one could play this recording over & over again, back to back, & not easily tire of it. It magnifies that perfect diabolical mindset, conducive of all possibilities. Candles & incense go well with this opus. This is true atmospheric musick. Enjoy.

Industrial music review Ministry black box
I bought it in '94 for ~ $35

It's a good collection of Ministry remixes, especially for any MINISTRY fan.

But all 3 discs can fit on one CD-R. Why have a CD with 25 minutes of music on it?

But, definitely it's a "must-have" for your collection.

Industrial music review A Must Have
If you are a fan of albums Twitch-Psalm 69, this collection of remixes is a "must have" in my opinion. As a whole, the recordings seem superior to some of the previously released versions: they seem to be remastered independent of the previous pressings. I thought at first the price for this was a bit steep for 13 songs (most remixes or reissued from 12"), but after hearing it for myself in comparison to the material i already own, i feel privileged to have this compilation for myself. Its not just another collection of reissues imo. 5 stars because i feel the effort was there to make this a special collection and i feel it delivered.

Industrial music review Good and interesting mix
Nice culmination of older ministry with interesting mixes.

Industrial music reivew good to have---okay to hold
We find Raymond in a distinct place; neither as hilariously bad as he began, nor as astoundingly good as he became. I've been singing the Lard Lord's praises for almost a decade now, and buy this album used for your 'I love this guy' collection, but don't expect anything especially new, or even imitable.

Industrial music review Brilliant
Not a bad song on here. Full of replay value. This is probably the best EP by KMFDM. Very good stuff. Don't hesitate.

Industrial music review RAYMOND STRIKES AGAIN!
I picked this up because of my huge fandom (is that a word?) of Raymond Watts (aka Pig). This EP, because it's not really a full album, has a comical value for me, due mostly to the sampling of the reverand john hagey on "rape robbery and violence", and also due to big t on "f me hoghunter". Along with the comic value, however, there is also some really good music coming out of this EP. For the price, you couldn't possibly go wrong.
