Filter's third album was inspired by a cross-country trip that imbued lead singer Rich Patrick with patriotism and appreciation for both the diversity and sense of freedom he found out on the road. While the recording is purported to be a celebration of that diversity, most of the record hasn't strayed much from the alt-metal template that Filter cut their teeth on back with their 1995 debut. Here are the same teeth-gnashing rants, scatter-gun drumming, and claustrophobic soundscapes that inhabited their first two albums. Patrick, however, has eschewed much of his trademark bloodcurdling screaming in favor of a lush vocal style that would suit an '80s New Romantic frontman. Though it's oddly an industrial band, Filter's best songs almost qualify as power ballads. The gorgeous melodies and moody lyrics of "The Missing" (written on September 11) and the psychedelic pop of "The Only Way Is the Wrong Way" owe more to Smashing Pumpkins than Nine Inch Nails. But even the jarring "American Cliché" and the ragged, downcast "Where Do We Go from Here" veer closer to pop than anything that appeared on the first two albums. The Amalgamut ultimately is a sophisticated and intelligent pop-metal hybrid. --Jaan Uhelszki

Industrial music review Words are not enough
This 5 hour collection is complete! It features a lot of true gifted composers as wel as some unknown talents. This box keeps reminding me that there is always some sounds waiting to float, trip, tranquillize and even dance to. It is a must for everyone who loves the combination of high technology and pure beauty, expressed in sounds you could only imagine in your dreams.

Industrial music review KMFDM's 'absolute must-have' cd
This is (arguably) their best album. Crushing tunes like "Drug Against War" abound on this disc, and even the slower songs can pound you. Second only to seeing them live, this is THE cd to own if you're only going to have one.

Industrial music review It's like a different band altogether!
I have an admission to make: I hate live albums.
Okay, that may be unfair, but in my mind, live albums, while possessing great energy, always had flawed production, annoying crowd sounds, and sloppy timing. The vocals never sound as good as something out of a studio, and the album never gives me anything new. I own and love the originals of all the songs.
But this... this was different. The production, first of all, is absolutely fantastic! It's as if they recorded each instrument seperately, but in truth, they're all palying at once. The tracks are just so distinct. It just blows my mind.
Not only that, but there are instruments in the first place! Live, Apop adds two guitars to the mix, making all of the music intensely heavy. It's more of an industrial rock outfit, and a good one at that. Add in Gier's wonderful backup singing, and the songs are almost without fail on par or better than the album counterparts. The Soli Deo Gloria cuts are infinitely improved.
And, of course, the energy is brilliant. Gone is the cold, digital feel of the studio albums, replaced by a human zeal and warmth.
Probably the only good live album on the market.

Industrial music review Welcome to talent!
I first heard of this band when I bought a Underground industrial CD from "Hot topics" two years ago. I heard "Non-stop violence" and instantly feel in love with the band. When "Welcome to Earth" came out, I purchased the CD the first day. "Welcome to Earth" should be considered a landmark in musical craftsmanship. Needless to say the live CD is unbelievable as well. It was recorded very well and sounds clear, which is always a good thing for live CDs. If your a fan of APB and can't get to their shows like myself pick up this CD...you won't be disapointed. Songs like Starsign, Paranoia, Deep Red, and Fade to black really come to life! Like I said before if your a fan of APB this is not to be missed...put the CD in your player, sit back and listen to some of music's best songs...Welcome to talent.

Industrial music review great industial-electro
If u like KMFDM, DAF, and especialy Klute you'll love this one. Its a blend of heavy industrial with dance beats of electro. Some see NIN as the best industrial band, hm, well they sound very much like pop to me compared to Klute and P'Pomps. this is produced by Claus Larsen(be careful, Casual Bodies isnt real Klute) and it has all the power his projects have. another bonus is track 14, a remix of godshit not listed anywere. certainly worth the money

Industrial music review indispensable
this is, without a doubt, my favorite attrition album. 'at the fiftieth gate' is attrition at their melodic, song-writing-oriented best. it contains several danceable classics, like death truck and the title track, as well as containing some one-time-only diversions, e.g. the brillian 'milano (auto italian).'

this particular re-issue includes a bonus 12 inch that rounds out an already wonderful album. sideways glance, to the devil, take five, and shotgun dream are all great songs that have been difficult to find until now.

the layers of rythm and music on this album will keep any decent listener's interest for (as near as i can tell) eternity. 'at the fiftieth gate' is an indispensable part of any self-respecting synth-pop, darkwave, or industrial collection.

Industrial music review this is the definitive recording of this millenium
Tony S. and his band have transcended my expectations...this is the best cd of the year, and probably the best music I have ever heard...I walked into a night club in chicago called Stardust and heard this for the first time...it blew me away...the music was the best that dj probably ever played(although he was apparently distracted by several female admirers)

Industrial music review spineCar - autophile (Spaceboy Entertainment)
Boy, other than to say "this is a really, really good record" or "this band rocks hard," it's pretty darn tough to get your hands far enough around autophile to be able to stylistically summarize it. I mean, just listen to the first three songs: "Home" grinds along in a disturbing aural groove similar to that etched by Korn on their influential "Ball Tongue;" "Stay" wouldn't feel out of place when pressed up against some great stoner rock classic from Kyuss; and "Soul Patch" could almost be a (great) lost Soundgarden track. Ain't too many metal heads that can evoke that many stylistic touch points over the course of thirteen minutes of music . . . and when you note that there's another 36 minutes to go after those first three songs, well, you can imagine the dilemma that a 250-word record review poses.

So let's just boil it down to those basic introductory points again, shall we? autophile is a really, really good record, and Spinecar is a band that rocks hard--not to mention smart, and that's worth a lot in a world of dumb Korn, Kyuss and Soundgarden imitators. Singer-guitarist Eric Braymer, bassist-vocalist Larry Gagliardi and drummer Art Bernstein deserve rich credit for thoughtfully mapping the point where those bands--and dozens of others--intersect, creating a unique and impressive sound of their own in the process. And the nicest thing about the musical place where they end up is that it's radio ready as all get out, proving that you don't have to dive for the lowest common denominator in order to create art with broad popular appeal. That makes spineCar a band worth pulling for. Go!

Industrial music review Lados B ? ??

Industrial music reivew Buyers Beware
This is a great album, the problem is the so called remastered version released by "Candlelight" records, it seems to have been recorded directly from a vinyl record, the thing hiccups throughout the whole recording. Also they seem to have added an echo effect to all the vocals which were not necessary, the vocals are also not as pronounced as the original recording. My advice: pay attention to the record company you are buying Christian Death "remastered/reissued" CD's from.
