Industrial music review Dark Metal without the Thrash
What a pleasant surprise. Good Dark Metal with a medieval flavor and plenty of female vocalization. I'm listening to this one over and over! I can't wait for Volume 2!

Industrial music review Oi Oi Oi !!!
This is only the best of the best and this collection is mixed together wonderfully with obscure interview out takes and other rare treats shoved in between songs. This is one of those compilation sets that provokes you to go out and buy a whole slew of records by artists that you weren't previously too sure about. The best song on there is "Vengence" It makes me wish I could hear it on vinyl. The only thing missing from these Burning Ambition sets is something by the Posers. Oh well, you can't have everything...

Industrial music review Abrasive industrial guitar noise from ex-Godflesh guitarist
This CD will probably appeal to fans of Godflesh & Techno Animal. Still, nobody sounds quite like Cable Regime -- their music demands patient listening in order to discern the intricate sounds & textures buried in the layers of white-hot guitar distortion. Think of a mix between Godflesh & Loop -- the spaciness of the latter & the obsessive abrasiveness of the former. The chunky industrial rhythms are featured more prominently here, making this release perhaps a little more user-friendly than in the past. Highly recommended.

Some trivia: Paul Neville, one of the two guitarists, played w/ Godflesh on Streetcleaner & their self-titled debut. Justin Broadrick of Godflesh co-produced the album.

Industrial music review Very Dark Sort of Ambient and NOT!
This was the first Controlled Bleeding CD I purchased. At first, I did not like it much. I was thinking, "Another English band of really trippy space-cadets". Well that was last year when this title was released. I kept coming back to it. I like dark stuff... experimental and trippy, but this recording had no "hook" to it until I put the song, "Here Come the Warm Jets " onto one of my mix tapes. It actually has a beat to it and it is on the hard side in flavor... but it is infectious! I put it right after the live version of Saucerful of Secrets by Pink Floyd. I had already recorded more than half the CD already on other dark mixes for my somber car rides alone. Most the songs have no real beat pursay, but fits a gothic definition in a way. Darn if this is intellegent, well-planed improvization and experimentation with tone, texture and "closing" space. You will have to hear it to understand what I mean by closing space.

Next to Between Tides, this is their best record! I think it is fair that there is no deception about what this music is. It is strange, eerie, mood enhanced dark-joy of musical experimentation!

I fear that this band is done. I hope not. They will NEVER fit into a mainstream category but this is a very intellengent work of Dark Ambient Space rock. Excellent spin!

Industrial music review Could've used more guitar, but still good
The latest offering from Unit: 187 is a little more geared towards total electronics than eletronics mixed with heavy guitars. But that doesn't make this a bad album. Most of the songs come off as instrumentals with Tod Law shouting one or two lines here and there. The electronics still have the trademark Unit: 187 sound...very abrasive and harsh. I would've maybe liked to have seen more lyrics or guitars in these songs, but they're still good. My favorite is by far the title track, which opens the record. Both mixes of Anger Management are also good. If you have the other releases from the boys, pick this one up as well. It's worth it in my opinion.

I'm very fond of the new ? single, myself. Though it shows more attention towards song structure, (and less on experimentation,in my opinion) I'm very fond of this song. The lyrics are very strong on this release, as is the chorus.. Of the remixes I've heard, I can't really speak for.

Industrial music review The best live Current 93 recorded
This is a VERY professional recording of Current 93 live playing some of their best music ever, their accoustic songs. This is another CD that I would have to call a cornerstone of my 300+ CD collection. The tracks on this cd are (since Amazon doesn't have them listed)

      1. Twilight Twilight Nihil Nihil 2. Calling For Vanished Faces I 3. Death Of The Corn 4. Horsey 5. The Descent Of Long Satan & Babylon 6. In The Heart Of The Wood & What I Found There 7. Be 8. Black Flowers Please 9. Mary Waits In Silence 10. Calling For Vanished Faces II 11. Since Yesterday 12. The Blue Gates Of Death 13. The Bloodbells Chime 14. All This World Makes Great Blood 15. The Great Bloody & Bruised Veil Of This World 16. Dormition & Dominion/So This Empire Is Nothing/This Shining Shining World 17. A Sadness Song 18. Happy Birthday

As you can see you definetly get your money's worth here.

Industrial music reivew one for collectors
this is a cd that i'm glad i have, but the sound quality is pretty awful so it's not like something i listen to much. it's interesting to listen to; it's good music, but it's not really one of the most important foetus releases. it's rock format like the foetus live album Male. i recommend that you buy this cd if you're already a fan, but probably not so much if you're looking for something you'll want to spend a lot of time listening to

      Industrial music review ...
Knowledgeable fans will admit that Thirwell is as much a personality as a musician. For those fans who appreciate that aspect of the music--the Artist's unleashed ego--Boil is perfect. Compared to Rife, the production on this second live album is miserable. The first half, taken from a Scotland show, sounds like it was recorded by some drunk redneck with a one-channel cassette-recorder; to get any sense of the music, you have to turn the volume up ridiculously high. The second half, recorded in Brussels, is better but not perfect. But these are trifling details when you listen. Thirwell here comes across not as a neurotic recluse holed up in a studio, constructing bizzare soundscapes from sampled swing music, scrap metal & meticulously crafted instrumental loops, but rather as a testosterone-swollen rockstar. The music is all rewritten for a standard rockband setup: a handful of guitars, a drummer, a bassist or two, and a keyboardist. Against the screaming confusion of sound emerge throbbing, organic renditions of previously mechanical numbers like "Mighty Whitey" and "I'll Meet You in Poland." And then there are Thirwell's witty dedications: "This one's for the Scottish Nationalist Party ..."
