Not your average Floyd tributeI had purchased The Wall 2000, so I thought why not this? This is from a Danish electronica outfit with a female lead singer. Some people say Floyd paved the way for electronic music. This is more than a tribute. It's a reinterpretation.
BEST TRIBUTE EVEROUT OF PHASE, great band and great tribute, you can try too " the dark side of the moon", "animals" and "the wall", I have no doubt about it, this 4 albums are the best tribute ever made, you must buy it, I can guarantee...

Labrynth WatcherIf you are a true David Bowie fan, I think you'll love this compilation of songs. I believe this CD shows all sides of David Bowie's music. It has songs from his earlier albums, with new live versions that add a little twist. "Man Who Sold the World" (recorded live with the Pet Shop Boys) is one of the greatest songs on this CD, and will turn anyone on to David Bowie.

COOL CD EVEN BETTER REMAKESThis cd is a must have for all Spahn Ranch fans. Great remixes, even better vocals. When I first heard Heretics Fork I was VERY IMPRESSED.The first time a remix has ever complemented the original song without overshadowing it, and Vortex OH MY GOD ! I barely knew what hit me. A definite 5 stars easy.

Her Best ?Past Time is an over view of her past work with past bands.
This is so much better than "Demons Fall For An Angels Kiss". I love the dark industrial tracks 2 through 4 which her voice actually sounds good on other than backing vocals. The live Christian Death tracks finished the album off nicely.
A definite must if your fan of Eva, though this CD is out of print thanks to Cleopatra records which may cause you trouble finding this.

A correction on the last person's reveiw* Eva O. is deathrock first and foremost she even says so on her website. Second, her lyrics are not gothic! WTF?? It's poetry, gorgeous beautiful songs written from an artist who spent time and wrote her passions down in a incredible way, how the hell can anyone label that as "gothic"? Poetry is poetry through song or not.
* Eva O. is not a born again christian, she has always had an on again off again fight with orthodox christianity and she is currently an orthodox christian. If you don't like it than don't buy her new cds because they might have some "godly" influences other than that she's fine. Now, I am not personally a christian but eva o is a beautiful woman, extremely talented guitar player (her idol is jimmy page so you can imagine) and her voice is a deep feminine voice
* Eva O. was in a band called "super Heroines" long before she was in christian death and shadow project and her solo stuff
The super heroines are great band and should get some damn recognition because people often make her seem like she just tagged along with rozz and was in his band for the hell of it. She wasn't. She is a great musician in her own right and it should be appriciated, but like most great artists she isn't.
* I am also tired of people hating her just because her and rozz divorced. Contrary to belief they were not enemies after their marriage. Her and rozz remained great friends after their divorce. And anyone with human emotion can tell that rozz still loved eva and never disliked her by pictures and the last shadow project cd they put out together.

an interesting retrospectIt is without doubt Eva O gained most of her fame from her associations with Rozz Williams in both the bands Christain Death and Shadow Project. Of course, this also undermines her talent to only be known by those familiar with her late ex-husband's work.
While I'm not the hugest fan of her voice (a friend of mine was quoted as saying that she sounds "very butch") she's an excellent guitarist and adequite gothic lyricist.
The fact that she's a born-again Christian (her solo tracks on this album are proof of that) also laughs at the stereotype that "all goths are Wiccans/Satanists/devil worshippers" but also has created a very different sound in her life's work - selections of which are given here.
This album spans the portion of her career from 1980(?) to the early nineties.

- The Fourth Dimension
Speak softly and carry a big sequencer. If you're an industrial band, that Weltanschauung will get you reasonably far, and Germany's Dark Illumination are smart enough to understand that equation. Pathfinder, their sophomore release, is nothing if not pure nectar for lovers of crisp, clean techno-industrial. There is little in the way of overprocessed vocals, few cheesy horror-movie samples, and not a guitar in earshot. It's easy on the ears and, not accidentally, on the dance floors. "Concrete Age," the disc's toe-tapping highlight, milks a fluid groove built on beautifully layered synths and a well-programmed, nimble beat. "Another Light" phases the synths in and out and puts some funk behind the cold electronics. The lyrics, sung mostly in English, are bound by traditional industrial themes of alienation and hopelessness (with detours on space travel), but it hardly matters--you'll be too seduced by the beat to care. --Steve Landau
Average review score:

Ownage. This is a dance floor killer, no doubt about it. All the songs have a house influence, the strings are layed out in a very simplistic manner, but it is so layered - it comes out great. And this isn't your VAC album, the songs are not littered with tons of samples, just vox and rising synthlines. Enjoy if you get the chance to pick this up (it's out of print now).

the perfect horror soundtrackThis is the album that got me started on Xorcist and it is still their best. Most of the "compositions" take some time to develop, but the layering of sounds and the approprite effects(women screaming, samples from 70's horror movies) build into a rather seamless soundtrack that doesn't seemed forced or melodramatic like most of the gothic music I have heard. The genre for this album has been described as cyberdustrial, so if you like laetherstrip, joy division's "Closer," and you think Marilyn Manson is an egotistical poseur than you should like this.

Average review score:

And these few precious days...The songs may be Kurt Weill's, but The Young Gods delivered one of the
most startling, original and powerful albums of the 1990s with these
eight cover versions - covers unlike any others. "Salomon
Song" veers from dream-like vaudeville to nervous edginess and
back again. "Mackie Messer" is the famous Mack-The-Knife
routine taken into punk-rock, speed-metal territory ( sampled of
course ) with German lyrics intact. Franz Treichler gives one of his
greatest vocals on "Alabama Song", omitting pure evil as he
snarls "Show us the way to the next little girl..." -
sounding like a killer or pedophile before the song is hurled into a
thunderous chorus. "Seerauber Jenny" reminds us of the
kind of music we might have heard in a Berlin theatre or nightclub in
Weimar Republic years, the song descending into an overpowering
darkness at its climax. And then there is the utterly haunting and
evocative rendition of "September Song". No one produces
music like The Young Gods.

HELL IS INVISIBLEThis set of CDs was assembled illegally and without permission by Martin Atkins and Invisible. For 7 years they never accounted or paid any royalties to PTV thus ending all contracts null and void.
However various old CDs and tapes were still in their possession and they invented this set to continue stealing from PTV and their allies.
You can tell by the cover. The ORIGIN series has sections of a GP-O collage that were to create a full picture in the end. PLUS the booklets were 20 plus pages with new detailed sleeve notes by GP-O.
This is a stock photo with no sleeve notes.
Several tracks are NOT even by PTV...and were never intended to be on any release. Some are even wrongly credited to bands that dont exist.
So not only PTV get ripped off, YOU get ripped off by an inferior fraudulent product that was released to try and save Invisible from bankruptcy.
THEY CANT HIDE THEIR BANCRUPT OF ETHICS AND HONOR..!!!
Dont feed Atkins ego and lies, PTV cant even afford a studio to record new music in because of liars and thieves like Invisible.
BOYCOTT all Invisible CDs. They've ripped off most of the bands on the label too

Legendary material from a legendary act.If you know anything at all about Genesis P-Orridge then you're aware of the horror factor involved with everything that he does. Whether it be the insanely bizarre performance art of Coum Transmissions (1969-1976), the sonic madness of Throbbing Gristle (1977-1981), his personal theories on body modification or the cult religion Temple of the Psychic Youth-Genesis P-Orridge is gonna shock you into paying attention.
Through Coum Transmissions P-Orridge aided in the development and acceptability of conceptually abstract performance art. With Throbbing Gristle he pushed the very same envelope within the boundaries of music and literally coined the term "Industrial Music". So it should come as no surprise that with Psychic TV something else was born-House music, Acid House to be exact. Yep, the hypnotically monotonous backbeats fired by sequenced slap-bass and punctuated by starkly dry piano licks was partially if not entirely formed from the mind of Genesis P-Orridge.
Basically Psychic TV is to Throbbing Gristle what George Clinton's Parliament is to Funkadelic. P-TV is as subversive and cathartic as Throbbing Gristle but intentionally made more palatable for the masses. Moreover it's a damned far cry more rhythmic and the Origin of the Species 6-disc set is an ideal tribute to that.
There is a wealth of P-TV material to be had but the Origin of the Species set is a perfect place to start. Each double disc set is crammed full of quality live recordings, remixes, favorites, out-takes and liner notes, of course Volume 3 is of no exception. If you catch yourself entertaining the notion that Trent Reznor made an impact on Industrial/Dance music then think again and think hard.
