Goth Synth Pop; pre-Techno Die FormThis has been one of my favorite albums since it was first released in '87. Early on, Die Form forged a Gothic brand of Industrial music... in time they became more Gothic Techno. This album is an odd one for them though, being very strong New Wave/Synth Pop. All the fetish imagery is present in the art and lyrics. The music is a great blend of analog/digital sounds (DX7, Prophet 5, Super Jupiter, etc) and the production is perhaps the slickest I've ever heard from Die Form -- strong hooks & very melodic! Not all of the original art is presented (the LP came with lyrics and instrument list, both of which are missing here) but the Slow Love 12" is included on the CD, and alternate versions of a few tracks. THANKS, Metropolis, for releasing this!!

Tackhead and A SherwoodThe presence of A Sherwood and Tackhead on one CD is formidable enough but there are actually 3 volumes to this best of compilation. Get them all. The playing is superb. listen to Hard Left with gary Clail to be convinced.
Every one a classic! Buy it.This is Adrian Sherwood and crew at their best. He's renowned for his reggae (check out Prince Far I), but his unclassifiable work with people like Tackhead (Sound System) and Fats Comet is as weird, noisy and cerebral as their maddest reggae. I must admit I don't have this CD, but have, and love, all the tracks on original vinyl 12's, promos & radio tapes. The music ranges from threatening sonic accounts of an increasingly militarised world (What's My Mission Now? "Don't send in the military and then wring your hands and say 'oh my god, you've hurt somebody', of course we have - that's what you sent us in there to do.") via Margaret Thatcher (Hard Left: "Today you've seen the hard left; fighting in the streets") to the sweet true love mangled beebop of Fats Comet's 'One and Only'. This is innovative music that will mash your speakers, force you to play it again and again and will leave your ears ringing.

Excellent Piece of SpeechThis 54 minute oration by Angela Davis is a very complete piece on the topic of the ever developing incarceration of minority groups in US society. Angela incorporates many elements into the conceptualization of the reason and psychology behind the development and alarming increase in prison growth. She speaks with amazing knowledge, personal experience and wit. The discussion comes full cycle and closes with suggestion on how to be proactive in assisting the incarcerated people in our society because our justice system has created an environment of punishment and not reform.

- Progress (DJ Ram Evolution Mix)
- With Me
- Progress (KAJ's Rave In Head Mix)
Average review score:

Caution: Highly AddictiveThis single is fantastic! Michael's intoxicating vocals will draw you into another dimension. The title track is one of my favorites from "Time To Speak". DJ Ram's Evolution Mix is a very danceable, club-friendly version that you will fall in love with. KAJ's Rave In Head Mix is a highly addictive, catchy interpretation that makes an already wonderful song even better. The Extended Version of Zeit Zu Leben is extremely enjoyable as well.
I highly recommend this single to anyone who is not familiar with Wave In Head or who is looking for the perfect complement to "Time To Speak". Even if you're not the type to indulge in singles, this is one that belongs in your collection!

One of FITS' best.An excellent recording. FITS is an amazing band live. Highlights include a passable Jagger imitation on Happy. Nice hard edge to the whole thing without assaulting you. All in all, it's hard to find anything bad about the recording. A definite gotta-have for the Fury fan.

Cabaret Voltaire unpluggedThis collection of recordings are a snapshot of Cabaret Voltaire during the slightly more accessible period of the mid eighties (84-86). Having signed a recording contract with Some Bizzare/Virgin Records, after the more experimental years with Rough Trade, saw the material become more vocal based and dance oriented. The recordings are unique in so much as they were made in the BBCs studios with in-house producers and engineers, rather than the usual self-produced material out of Western Works studios. Almost Cabaret Voltaire unplugged, with a minimum of overdubs or studio trickery. Augmented by Mark Tattersal on drums and percussion. Those who enjoyed the digital funk of "Microphonies" and the dub electronics of "Code" will not be disappointed.
"BBC Recording 84-86", "Radiation Pilot 39" and "Sex, Money, Freaks" all refer to the same release.

Excellent Melissa Beck styleThis cd is totally amazing. In a dream "The Lard" told me to buy this. I went out and bought the damned thing and now my friends: Jack Burton, Big Bill and myself can't stop dancing in the woods to it. When i was buring an effigy on Miss Ang's lawn with Big Bill we even listened to it. STR is so damned skilled, Melissa Beck style. Still I never have poked his nose though. Just trust me with this one, buy it and dance like a fool.

Excellent CombinationsThis cd is very cool. For some reason, the band decided to go gothic with the classic emotion of the 80's, and then intertwine it with industrial beats and remixes. I would never listen to anything gothic usually, but the emotion they throw in with thier clever guitar has a great result. Finally old fashioned style rock bands are realizing how cool electronics and especially remixes turn out. I really hope they keep up this way. This cd is the perfect example of what I'm talking about. A complete overveiw of their style. With 8 remixes of recent songs and 1 new song, you get a taste of everything. It took me a while to finally get around to buying this cd, but I really wish I had bought it sooner. Get this and you'll love it.

A poor-man's MinistryI had such high hopes. I'd read about this album several times before buying it. I'd heard it described as a "Wall of Sound" and the "noisiest, craziest band EVER." Geezus. Metal fans in 1994 must have been a bunch of wussies. This entire album comes off like a Ministry album recorded in someone's garage. It has some interesting beats & hooks, but it is a FAR CRY from the loudest, most insane music I've ever heard. I think anyone who was a fan of Sepultura before Max became a geezus freak will appreciate this CD. I've never heard any of Fudge Tunnel's stuff before, so I can't make a judgement call on that. Maybe I'm off base here, but what's the point of doing a "spin-off" or "side" project if half your original band contributes to the album? I mean, that kind of defeats the purpose, don't you think? *cough* Andreas from Sepultura....*cough* Igor from Sepultura. Anyhoo, I suppose this album is good for any obsessive-compulsive Sepultura and/or Fudge Tunnel completist, but it really won't blow up your skirt (unless you think Linkin Park is the hardest band out there...then you might be impressed.)
industrial metaleven though its not the Heaviest cd ever, its still filled to the top with AWSOME songs. this is one of few cd's that can be played through without skipin songs. Max said he didnt want it sounding to industrial and that they didnt promote shooting ppl like on the cover, just showing what happens in that country
Who knew 2 guys and a drum machine could be so loud? That's right. Nailbomb is a side project of Max Cavelera (When he was in Sepultura) and Alex Newport (When he was in fudge Tunnel) While there is the occasional appearance of Igor Cavelera and Andreas Kisser of (also of Sepultura) this is entirely Max and Alex's show. It's a Punk filled Metal album with all the anger and hate you could expect. The drum machine and samples work rather well and add certain style that is only found with Nailbomb. The opener Wasting Away shreds where as the closer Sick Life...does the same thing! It reflects back on the problems in society, police, religion, etc. I often find myself laughing at the beginning of the cover of Doom's Exploitation.
Here we have the remastered version with bonus tracks and more artwork/pictures/lyrics in the sleeve. Problem though, is that all the bonus tracks have been released before. They're all on Proud to Commit Commercial Suicide. This is an Album and a half. If they were going to do this they might as well have re-released both in a 2 disc set. We know that the energy on the live songs isn't as good as the studio versions, but they still entertaining. Most notably is the cover of Dead Kennedy's Police Truck. The only remotely bad song on the whole package is the B-side Zero Tolerance. If you like punk or metal or both you can not pass this up.
