Industrial music reivew For a wonderful romantic evening..........
This is a rocking 21 minutes from The Dwarves. Not the hardest hardcore punk, but good stuff. Actually even before I knew this was produced by Smash Mouths producer, I thought a few tracks sounded like Smash Mouth, whether that's good or bad is your call. That's especially noticable in "How It's Done" and "Better Be Women", both strong songs. Overall though it's just mostly rocking fun. Now to quote track 6, "Recognize The Dwarves, slut!"

Industrial music review The best punk album of 2003
"Come Clean" is the best album the dwarves have ever done. Since the first time I listened it until now, I can't take the songs out of my head.
The best songs are "Better be woman", "How it's done, "Production Value", "Over You" and "Way out". The lyrics are irreverent as usual and the music goes from Industrial punk on Over you, to Hardcore on "River City" and some catchy melodies on "Production Value". There is everything on this record, is definitely part of the punk history. Excuse my english.

Industrial music review Queens
If you like The Dwarves check out the bass players other band Queens Of The Stone Age. Good flowing rock and roll with a hard edge.

Industrial music review Cuz It's Hot - Best Song They Ever Wrote
I bought the tape when I was 22 years old and wore it out listening to Cuz Its Hot. I tried to make a copy to another tape to salvage it and wore that tape out too. I'm 33 years old now and listen to the CD regularly. I'm never going to get sick of it. A few years ago I heard Cuz Its Hot played in a big Miami dance club for Gothic night and people went nuts. It will always be a classic. It's too bad TKK ... now. Those were the good ol' days.

Industrial music review Great! But somewhat different from their later stuff.
The full title is actually "A Girl Doesn't Get Killed by a Make-Believe Lover....'Cuz It's Hot."

Some people don't like this, say it's too repetitive, blah, blah, blah. But the thing is, this (at least the title song)is dance music. I believe it was originally released on vinyl for DJs (much like the stuff on their Kooler than Jesus cd).

Music meant to be played in a club is structured differently than music meant for radio. It tends to be longer (8-9 minutes) and has something of an emphasis on the beat.

Anyway, 'Cuz it's hot is one of their best songs. Rather than being industrial or having jazz-ish sound to it, like their later stuff, this is rather house like. Very 'groovy' and disco-ish. But it still combines their trademarks, 'b-movie evilness', silliness, and sex.

Most TKK fans already have A Daisy Chain 4 Satan (as it's on their best ablum), but it doesn't hurt to have another copy of that.

Industrial music review Oh baby are you meant for me?!!!!
I absolutely am on fire about this CD cuz it's hot!!!! The hi-hat repetition is so much fun that I can't contain myself!!! Plus who can beat a name that's so much fun to say as, "Thrill Kill, Thrill Kill, Thrill Kill, K-k-k-k-Kult!!!" Try it and continue to ride the mindway!!!!

Industrial music reivew A MUST OWN cd for fans of "electronic" & "industrial" music
I agree with most of the other reviewers that Freeze Frame Reality has a more polished production quality & sound than Homes and Gardens, but isn't as consistent in it's style through out the album. Which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Homes and Gardens is a more danceable album - but this album, FFR, is still my personal favourite, with all of it's interesting layers & varied intensities. FFR album has a broad spectrum of emotions attached to it. From numbness and frigid emotional detachment to anger, angst and to haunting depression with the lyrics within "Solid State Logic". I believe Freeze Frame Reality to be the best example of Daniel Meyer having utilized his talent(s). Also there is the added bonus of the track 11 re-mix by Mentallo & the Fixer. : )

Freeze Frame Reality is a must own album for any lover/listener of electronic and industrial music. This album makes a perfect soundtrack for long drives, especially at night. Everyone has those albums that they love to drive to, this one will surely become one of them.

If you are interested in Project Pitchfork (old albums such as Entities, Lam 'Bras, Dhyani or IO), Wumpscut, Leather Strip, Front 242, Massive Attack, Recoil, or Front Line Assembly, Babyland, etc - you will most likely enjoy this album very much.

stand out songs:
Solid State Logic begins this moody & intense album with the lyrics: "I don't want to be scared anymore, or to kill anymore. I don't want to kill anymore. I dont want to be alone anymore. I don't want to be anything anymore. I don't need a reason to kill myself. I need a reason not to." (which are samples from the suicide note in the 1992 film 'Single White Female').
Dream Aid follows as a multi layered & more fast-paced (& danceable) track. there is so much to listen to within this track! imo, it cleary demonstrates Daniel Meyer's enormous talent. also, the lyrics are dark, brooding and intelligent. my favourite track.
Consciousness is more atmosphermic, the beat very catchy
Perfect Average is a more aggresive track with more guitar & more samples from the 1992 film Single White Female: when Hedra is about to kill Alli she says; "I can't I can't.." / "Oh God oh God.." is taken from Hedra's masturbation scene & of course there is the scream.. )
Nezzwerk is another favourite of mine. it lends a feeling of claustrophobia & insomnia, and although it is not a danceable song (imho), it is another great song for long drives.
Trivial has great beats, especially towards the end of song!!
World Window do you like to feel like you are trapped inside a spy movie? this song is for you! it's extremely angst driven & very danceable. probably the most played Haujobb song from this album at "Industrial/Goth" Clubs.
Analysis this song should make it onto set lists more often at clubs interesting beats & layers. slower than some of the other tracks on the album, but still one of the best songs and great to dance to.

Industrial music review Walter Gropius Is Alive And Well and Collaborating with haujobb
This is music Walter Gropius would have designed to coincide with his Bauhaus concept of design: clean, sterile, functional, with a theme of industrial function to incorporate a sense of livabilty within a new order of adaptability.

Industrial music review Haujobb is reality
One of my favorite Haujobb CDs, more developed than Homes and Gardens, but not worse than Solutions. I enjoy this CD more than Solutions actually. There is just something about this one, very atmoshpheric and moody. A great night time album. Haujobb doesn't dissapoint.

Industrial music reivew an occult face of "pop" music
This is one of my favorite c93 albums. Mr. Hilmar rn Hilmarsson (aka HH) is the "cause" of the strong presence of keyboards. His contribution (along with beautiful backing vocals on the 1st track from Bjork) has made this album one of c93's most accessible works. It's quite different from almost anything you can hear from c93,yet maintaining the melancholic and occult atmosphere that is present in most of their albums.(As always) there are 2-3 songs (not present in the original LP version) that are irrelevant to the rest (Tibet's caprice/humor or just intermezzos?) but this time i have to admit they are quite amusing (HH's touch obviously). The whole result would be unworldly and "spaced out" if it wasn't for the lyrics and the diffused melancholy that bring you back to earth (or underneath...).
(HH -who among others has written scores for few Icelandic films- was based on this collaboration for the creation of the soundtrack of "Children Of Nature" (Oscar for Best Foreign Film-1992) but his -beautiful- music there, is more based on string arrangements and much less on keyboards.)

Industrial music reivew Not even Bjork can ruin this gem
I remember listening to this alone in a huge old house on a mammoth sound system. It was....formative, okay? I swore never to listen to it again because it was transcendental (man!) And why ruin a perfect moment? It meanders at times but passing horses is awesome. Our lives are like vapour, apparently, drawn from celestial influence. Beats New Labour, I suppose. Great keyboard work. great everything. Yes, I broke the vow and regretted it.

Industrial music review Superb! Tibet is wonderful
I can only describe this music as an elegant masterpiece who's sound carries perfectly the feeling Current 93 expresses. Tibet is as godly in ISLAND as he is in any other C93 album; spellbinding, gracefully capturing, darkly bright and beautiful; moving. 5 stars.
I recommend Thunder Perfect Mind; All the Pretty Little Horses too.

Industrial music reivew Very good CD. Dragonflies should be top 10!
Povi is a lot like Portishead and Massive Attack, if those bands weren't so downbeat. There's much more of a pop sound here, although not schlocky. Like an artier Morcheeba.

I can't understand why "Dragonflies" isn't on the charts! It's an incredible song! Most of the rest of the CD can't match it, but it doesn't pale by comparison either. There are lots of styles (pop, trip-hop, instrumental) merged into a unique sound that flows through all the tracks, marking them as Povi. The lyrics are very well-written, and I hope their future CDs reprint them in the jewel case.

Even though the last couple of tracks veer off into self-indulgent and self-pitying goo, the majority of this CD is really intriguing. I will definitely keep my ears open for more.

Industrial music review Atmospheric gem
Unless you had your antenna up you were apt to miss this little known gem. Though clearly a first effort, for a first effort it's quite an accomplishment.

Povi is a band in firm control of dynamics and atmosphere. The majority of the music here takes the listener on an almost seamless journey through these interconnected songs. For those who can't resist atmospheric, occasionally even breathy, female vocals laid over a smooth, varied, dynamic, landscape of sometimes dreamy, sometimes propulsive, background and foreground textures and rhythms, then this might embrace you like a warm, humid summer night. On the one hand, the descriptions of this recording as a combination of trip-hop, pop, and electronics, are right on the mark. On the other hand they just don't hint at the diversity or the unforced smoothness of the techniques at work here. There's nothing heavy handed or overworked here, despite the extensive layering of multiple effects coming clearly and steadily out of the mix - just a smooth accumulation of atmospheres enveloping you. There's a good deal of just slightly quirky articulation happening here, with rich washes of various sounds moving in and out, smoothly, ever so smoothly, and the unique character that results lifts these songs out of the ordinary. There's also a kind of sophisticated sweetness and innocence about this music, present even during the more cynical moments, that's distinctive and engaging.

It's all some kind of lovely, pulsing, shimmering fog flowing in and around to embrace you.

Industrial music review A must for trip-hop lovers
I just bought this CD after hearing it first in a coffee shop. I immediately fell in love with its subtle lyrics and fujon arrangements. This is a must for all trip-hop lovers who are a little tired of listening to the old (yet still awesome) massive attack and portishead. Povi, however greatly influenced by the latter two, manage to brew their own distinctive sound, stirring in a bit of pop without losing their integrity and uniqueness. I hope that this is not a one-album-stand, and that the Povi duo will keep on feeding us with their vibes.

Industrial music review Pro>Tech - The best side project of Leeb & Peterson
As a avid Delerium fan, I purchased this release only because I heard 'Walls Of Ice' on a friend's CD in his car and I liked the song and its rhythm. Pro-Tech is aptly named for it mixes and combines techno style themes with industrial beats and cool ambient moments. Once again Bill Leeb teamed up with Cris Peterson without the stewardship of Rhys Fulber. I enjoy the two together for they come up with some great sounding songs. I am surprised that some of these songs have not been picked up by club DJ's for they have groovy moves.
For me the three song picks in this album release from 1995 are 'Erotic Ontology', 'Wall of Ice' and 'Re-Thread'. Pro-tech combines the sounds of Delerium, Intermix and Synaesthesia together and many of the songs will sound familiar to the fans of these projects.
So this is a album not to be missed by any fan of Delerium, FLA or Synaesthesia.

Industrial music review Orbiting Cathedrals ~ Pro-tech
Pro-tech being one of Leebs countless musical projects has a sound which can be said to be a mix between Kraftwerk, ATB and , Nois Unit , FLA and Intermix. There are definite touch of trance and techno as well as the driving industrial baseline. The music is great for the dance floor and has great beats and baselines. I love the sounds and it seems like Leeb spends plenty of time just to pick out the right sounds for the tracks which is essential when it comes to this kind of music and this is probably his best choices since the 1992 FLA release TNI. The book-let is quite cool with a strange futuristic design and the logo of pro-tech is neat. I love the Nietzsche quote and that brings me back to my college days when I studied a semester of Frerdrich Nietzsche and his texts. This is such an amazing album that it ranks right up their with his monumental release TNI and is a must buy for fans of Leeb and all his side projects.

Industrial music review Great Album
This is a very cool album. It was in my CD player for many , many days before taking it out. This album is very similar to Equinox or some of the Flavor recordings, atleast in style. It is dark and dancy. The one track on here that was "intersting" was Communication. This is a silly track that personally I would have left off the album if I was Leebo. It sounds like a joke (and probably is). All and all this is yet another Bill Leeb Chris Peterson 5 star album. You can find several of the songs from Orbiting Cathedrals on the Cryogenic Studios compilation album. Also if you listen closely to the first song on the album "Pheromne" it has parts that are very similar to the song "Decoy" on Epitaph.....kind of cool eh.

Industrial music reivew Interesting concept, wish they had taken it further...
I originally came upon this CD when my friend decided to pop it in his car stereo one day. While I personally do not care for dark/death/goth metal or what ever metal genre Exodus would be classified as (basically I don't care anything that has that industrial death growl ~ I feel vocalists that make use of it void themselves of any originally that would help them to distinguish themselves), that all changed when I heard "From Malkuth to Kether."

If the idea of mixing the kind of music outlined above with techno beats sounds funny and absurd, this song may change your mind, as it did mine. Actually, it is because of this odd combination that "From Malkuth to Kether" is the only spark of originality on the album. I honestly could really care less for the rest of the songs (even is the music is decent), which suffers from vocals being drowned out by the music. However, even as annoying as that is, the fact the vocals take a back seat to the music works well in "From Malkuth to Kether", as the music is the main driving force of that song to begin with.

It is unfortunate that this is the only song on the album done in this fashion, because it is a perfect example of crossing of two musical genres (such as 311 and Papa Roach's first album where those bands combined rock/metal music with rap-type lyrics) to create something fresh and interesting. In the end, if this concept sounds interesting, I suggest at least checking out that song to see if you like it. As for buying this CD for that one song, that's one question I am unable to answer myself.

Industrial music reivew They are good...
This "Exodus" continues with "Passage" majesty. It can be taken as an EP; it has only 7 songs and the same format as "Rebellion"(also an EP):New songs(in Exodus 2),a cover, new versions, and an instrumental(the hidden track is the same in both).Basically the songs are Passage-like and has the same ingredients as usual. The songs show no surprises. New versions of "Son of Earth" and "Ceremony of Opposites"(Vorph is more gutural; this version is maybe Samael's best song ever). From "Malkuth to Kether" is a cool-fast-energetic-heavy-techno instrumental(hey, how many adjectives?). Anyway, for old(?) and new fans, this "Exodus" continues what was started in "Passage", showing their greatness in their musical evolution.

Industrial music review New fusions
Well, you can't expect recent Samael to sound just like their old black-metal days... it appears they have evolved so far that you can't even compare their old stuff to this new stuff. I wouldn't even try to force it into the "metal" pigeonhole anymore; it's not quite darkwave or dance yet, either, but some incredibly nifty hybrid. The techno beats were odd and hard to get used to, but they're not used exclusively. "Exodus" still has the patented Samael stomp that we've all come to expect, along with the same digitized vocal roars. It's the logical outgrowth of the Passage album... If you liked "Passage", chances are you're already into wonderful melodic bombast, and will love this EP. (Admittedly, I don't know quite what to make of the hidden instrumental track, which sounds like it should've been used as a soundtrack to a Miami Vice episode, although it is quite pleasant on headphones.)

Picks: "Winter Solstice" and "Tribes of Cain".

Industrial music reivew Too Industrial
This CD is too industrial for me. I like something more emotional line Nine Inch Nails and VNV Nation.

Industrial music reivew my opinion
a person that wrote the previous review insists that nurse with wound and coil are "industrial" bands. that is just completely false. they are the first ones to deny the very existence of "industrial" as a genre, and steven stapleton has clearly stated a million times that he finds "industrial", even if one agrees that it exists and CAN exist as a genre, tedious and utterly uninteresting. as you may well know, his only true musical inspiration was always kraut-rock. coil are truly unique band that simply can not be categorised, and its substance is completely non-industrial. the only "industrial" bands that ever existed were bands like throbbing gristle and whitehouse, maybe first few einstuerzende neubaten records (they probably wouldn't agree), but that is a historical thing. a "genre" called "industrial" was made up long after the initial appearance of such bands and doesn't mean anything but an excuse for a bunch of unimaginative people to make music. back then that aesthetic in its pure form did make sense. in the second half of 80s, 90s or today it certainly does not make sense and i'm truly surprised how anyone can think today that "industrial"/"noise" aesthetics can be shocking.

on the other hand, if the content of this music is what's shocking to you, then i can only say: grow up. this applies to pretty much all cold meat industry bands. imagery of burned bodies, mutilated carcasses, bloody anuses, explicit "weird" sexual imagery or whatever else, is just completely juvenile, meaningless and plain stupid. however, it is not hilarious or funny as one might think, because violence, death, hurting, truly perverted sexuality that misses the point of sexual relationship and love (i'm not talking about your everyday "perversions" that are in essence just imaginative sexuality) is a serious thing. that's why i cannot tolerate this sort of music today, where before i would not take it seriously and therefore would be able to listen to it. cold meat industry bands sound and look like children with no self consciousness trying to be "dark" or whatever and in the process of making their music they use serious things as if those things were not serious and that's insulting (i hope you understand i'm not talking from the viewpoint of people like priests, "concerned parents", "profanity cleaners" or any similar mindset). i really do not know to whom this music would make sense (if i assume they are not a bunch of posers, teenagers trying to look cool/dark/whatever or children who don't find black or death metal aesthetics extreme enough anymore).

Industrial music reivew You Either Like That Sort Of Thing . . . .
...or you don't.Whaaaaa, I don't like noisy bands that use
horrible, terrible things for their so called image,
and they can't even play instruments! My god,
why are you kids worshiping this noise and throwing
cash at it?! You all think you're so dark. You think
yr so "evil". Well let me tell you something, I don't
think it's very nice. *proceeds to write two paragraph
review, telling you how stupid it is to like this music.
while crying*
Seriously, as an industrial/noise band, if that's yr thing
it's worth having 2 maybe 3 of their albums but that's all
'cause it doesn't really matter which ones they are, they're
all kinda the same. I find that 3 is good. But maybe I'm
just a sucker. ?
