Industrial music review Ozric Does It Again!
This band may not be well known, but they are a real treat. Lovers of psychedelic music and creative Rock should own at least some Ozric Tentacles. I own what I believe to be their best music. I have Erpland, Jurassic Shift, Strangeitude, Pungent Effulgent, Curious Corn, and the Floating Seeds Remixed album. Strangeitude is one of my favorites. But the others are great too. They utilize so many things to make their music. It is really interesting, and never offensive. Pick up some or all of the titles I just mentioned if you like their vibe. It's all good!

Industrial music review One of their strongest early discs
Strangeitude is an essential Ozrics disc. Aside from containing one of their concert dance staples, "Sploosh," this disc boasts a wide, innovative range of space-rock compositions that really show how unique their sensibilities were as a band in their first incarnation. Joie Hinton and Ed Gwynn made a fabulously talented dual-leader combo in this first Ozrics lineup and this disc, along with Jurassic Shift and Erpland, form part of an incredibly productive and consistently excellent body of work. Highly listenable, challenging, and resistant to the formulaic prog-rock sensibility.

Industrial music review Gloriously Weird!
Many times during this CD does the band's creativity defy description. My best advice is to just sit back, put the earphones on, close your eyes and just let your mind work. My favorite song on this album (and, I'll admit, on any of their albums) is "Sploosh!" While a bit repetitive it is an incredibly fun listen.

Industrial music review remixed to perfection
before picking up this two-disc package, i was not familiar with the works of Collide. i bought this item on a whim, and am very glad i did. the variety of style approach is refreshing, you really don't hear the same song twice, though there are a few mixes of a few songs. these are good cds to put in on a trip or chill at the house, and i've had the album for a few weeks now and am not tired of it. enjoy the haunting effects of a great band rearranged by great artistic minds.

Industrial music review EXCEPTIONAL REMIXES OF THEIR OWN MATERIAL
Ready for the Club and some chill out remixes of their great music? This is the double CD for you. I'd have to say that a lot of great guest appearances are on this album as well and I really appreciate their sound.

This band is labeled like a loungy goth in terms of its sound. It misses the industrial vibe a bit and while Goth music tends to go hand-in-hand with the industrial sound these guys come with a more Euro flavor in lines with Conjure One, Balligomingo, Kate Ryan, and that kind of sound. I really enjoy this dual CD and found some of the sounds to really make the hair on the back of my neck stand up! It is awesome.

If you're looking for something different check these guys out.

Industrial music review Now a Collide fan
I sampled some of the songs on this cd on amazon. They sounded good so i ordered the cd. I'm new to Collide's music but now I am a fan. This is a 2 disc cd. It has great remixes which range in sound from rock, techno, to remixes that put my in mind of Enya. The lead voice is beautiful. I'm very pleased with this cd and will be looking into other Collide albums.

Industrial music reivew Jacks vocals have always been hwaak....
...but keep in mind, the rapping he tries to pull off here was done in the early 80's, long before the term "hip hop" was even coined.

Mr. Dangers was a studio DJ above all else, but as a musician he had to try his hand at everything along the way...
ranging from experimental rap/beat lyrics on this album (and 99%), to perfect Depeche Mode vocals on the album Satyricon.

Now he's actually playing many of the traditional instruments you hear on his newer albums (and singing a lot less!).
After 20+ years of experimenting he's an accomplished musician and artist (in the truest sense of the word)...
with songs in major films such as The Matrix for one...and god knows how many albums, singles, producer credits & sit-ins he's been a part of over the years.

Jack Dangers is the Steve Albini of electronic music...
you don't see him very often, but if you own an album that you really, really, really, like...chances are Jack's name is in the credits somewhere.

So why are you reading this review anyway? This music is legendary.
Purchase the entire catalog from this man, and learn a thing or two about other forms of music along the way.
This is more than some college DJ playing with Rebirth...this is the dawn of electronic music when it really started getting good.

This is free speech and free thought at it's finest,
true art without a fraction of commercial resistance.

Industrial music review My first encounter with MBM
When I first got into the industial dance stuff back in the 80's, this was one of the first albums I bought. Nothing like any other MBM releases, Storm the Studio is a dark, edgy CD without any polish. The tracks are all unique. The parts of the songs could be their own songs themselves. And the music ranges from the danceable to avant garde to even hip hop. If you buy this CD be prepared: It is not like any other MTM CD out there.

Industrial music review MBM is absolutely the greatest...
I was already convinced of that before getting this album. This album only served to further confirm what I already knew. Old-skool hiphop fans, industrial fans, and big-beat freaks will revel in this nearly-flawless combination of the three. The 'Strap Down' tracks were maybe a bit blandish and too dancy for my tastes, but only when compared to the incredible remainder of the album. STS is so good, I can even forgive Jack's attempts at rapping (which, while not the worst I've ever heard by any means, is frankly not that good). Meat Beat Manifesto is Great Britain's answer to Public Enemy.

Industrial music reivew Like it
I just recently bought this record, and living in finland, Einsturzende Neubauten records are hard to come by.
Therefore, it is my first EN record. I am a fan of noisy, experimental sound in music, and having heard of EN, i knew they were a band i would like.
What i liked in their music, was the lack of synthezisers.
They have a very unique sound to their music. Blixa Bargeld is a fitting singer for the band, and in my opinion, is able to bring out emotion nicely.
Especially the live versions of the songs have lot of energy, the spontaneus pieces are very coherent, not degenerating into uncomprehensible rabble.
Some of the songs in there are quite unusual, silent and ambientish, while some are rough rides.
I liked it very much, and i believe if anyone fancies experimental, industrial music he should grab this one.

Industrial music review A Phenomenal Compilaton!
Having never heard their music I bought this cd used and on the cheap and only because I had read other reviews that EN is a great band. As is often the case with experimental upon first listen I wasn't sure that it was even worth the six bucks I shelled out for it. Well... that was about six months ago and I've probably played it every day since. Another reviewer called it "addicting" and I have to agree so if you're in a 12 Step Program for recovering music addicts then you might want to stay away but otherwise I highly recommend this one to anyone who's into experimental sounds and doesn't mind lyrics sung in German. One quick and important note though... I'm not familiar with their early works which is often labeled as "industrial"... this one is anything but.

Industrial music reivew All the best moments are from one CD
The potential listeners of this CD can be divided into 2 groups - those who know of early Chandeen, and those who are being introduced through this compilation. For the latter, this work is unquestionably a triumph; Chandeen is uniquely beautiful and pleasantly listenable, with a distinct signature sound that is blissful and dark at the same time. But those who have heard the earlier works, and Jutland (RTD 391-0122-2, Hyperium importt) in particular, will realize just how much has been lost. The passion, shadow, and sensuality prevalent in songs such as Ginger, Lightning, Young Days, Snow, Drift, and Strawberry Passion are unforgettable - once you hear these in sequence, Chandeen may well become one of your all-time favorite works. Fans of Dead Can Dance, Delerium, and even Cocteau Twins will be thrilled with these songs. But compared to what has come since, with new vocalists, new direction, and less creativity, the past triumphs of this group remain on a plateau considerably above the present collection. This is a great disk, but not nearly as good as it could be, and many opportunities were missed in the track selection. Search out the back catalog if you can! ;)

Industrial music reivew Pleasant and listenable
This is a pleasant Goth aubum better then Dead can Dance which they are compared with. But it doesn't stand out in any way. The vocals are nice but not grabbing. The lyrics don't stay with you. I have this with my morning music since it's easy to just let it flow in the background. Personally I'd go for Faith and Disease, Switchblade Symphony, Ataraxia or Cocteau Twins if I want female goth voicals or Deine Lakaien for rich male vocals.

Industrial music review A hidden gem worth unraveling
Chandeen is a truly unique group. They've got a very eclectic sound and I'm constantly looking for variety like that. I'm sad to report that they recently broke up, as so many great acts do after just a few albums, but the music this German group did put out has been nothing short of amazing. The distinct voice of Catrin Mallon from Edera guest sings on "Anyone's View To The Inside" but the heavenly sirens of Stephanie Harich and Antje Schulz are the bewitching lead vocalists.

The material found on 'A Taste Like Ginger' is really a compilation of songs from several of their previous releases and I hope to hunt them all down soon but this is a wonderful introduction to their diverse assortment of style. Most of these tracks will appeal to fans of ethereal Goth but there are many world inspired as well as ambient, electronic influences. Either way, if you enjoy beautiful, haunting melodies that'll often touch the core of your soul with deeply felt emotions than buy this before it's impossible to find!

Industrial music review "Sideburn and napalm aftershave headache"
"Don't Hide It Provide It" is the nastiest piece of music I own, and it's brilliant. I hounded the DJ at a club I used to frequent to play this, and when he finally did I danced. Exuberantly.
"A Prayer For My Death" is extremely well written (it's even better live on "RIFE").
Probably the last great Foetus recording made.

Industrial music review thaw...raw
This is absoolutely the most jarring of any Foetus album yet. The music makes your ribs crack not only because of the noisy, thickly composed screaming metal-banging music, but also the immediate juxtaposition of wild noise & some of Thirlwell's quintissentially Thirlwell modern classical pieces. There's also a blues song (with very poetic lyrics, I might add as a well-read poet), & some tabla drumming. This crazy experimental music can be pretty catchy, too, if you ask me -- especially the 4th & 5th songs. Or anyways. I mean. I like those songs a lot. It's also pretty incredible that Thaw is so radically different as a whole from the Foetus album that preceeded it: Nail, also wonderful music. Between them he did a Wiseblood album, Dirtdish, which has a lot of pulsing static white noise.

Industrial music review achin' for a breakin'
Part of JGT's ongoing Picasso-Matisse style battle with Nick Cave, you see, the mercy seat was more commercial, more accessible, so JGT says to himself, " I can do that".
Hence, we have 'Thaw', which goes in my "best album of career" drawer, not one bad song or wasted moment to be found, and I've tried looking everywhere.
Great to play at office parties, Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Also a great repellant for the "I love trent reznor and ministry, look at my wounds, they are beautiful" type scum that have claimed our music.
Buy it or don't, I dont care. p.s. this is one release where the CD version sounds as good as the vinyl.

Industrial music reivew They've done it again
I only gave this 4 star because I was disappointed that it wasn't a new album when I got it. That aside, this is a great disc. Like I've said before, EHC puts out great remixes that don't just rehash the same sound. The blatant commercialism (which they speak of themselves) of Shout at the Devil is great. Cykophuk's Hellfire mix is great, as are the rest of the mixes. Unholy Roller is a good new piece as well.

Industrial music review Great Satanic rock. Smoking as Hellfire!
The greatest Satanist glamor band on Earth. This CD smokes as hell. Funny as hell. Become Satan's Little Helper and buy this CD. These Folks are evil, cool and wonderful!
Freak out your Christian friends; play this CD at your high school dance. Real groovy tunes.

Industrial music review This is Brilliant Stuff!
This has become a favourite CD for my household, we usually start and end the day with it. The lyrics in the title song are so good that I'd like to quote some of them in one of my own books.

The diversity of musical styles alone is something which makes this CD possible to listen to over and over without tiring of it, and the quality of the songwriting is superb. I'm going to have to listen to more by this band, meanwhile, I'm going to set up a link to this page from my website just to recommend it to everyone that I can.

Industrial music reivew Solid, heavy...but not a masterpiece.
Given the elements of their origin, the sound of Susperia is an initial surprise. After all, when members of Old Man's Child, Satyricon, and Dimmu Borgir get together to jam, you expect a very distinct style. You expect something reminiscent of their genre.

But with Susperia, an entirely different path is taken. "Vindication" is a heavy, punishing slab of post-thrash groove, contrasted by the occasional foray into venomous assaults of speed and savagery. And when you think you have a good bead on where Susperia is coming from, they pull the rug out from under your feet with slow, gothic-metal grinds and blistering black-metal brutality.

Perhaps the most potent blow from "Vindication" is dealt with the riffs. Simply put, they are enormous and crush everything in their wake. It is hard to resist tapping your foot to some of these tracks. Performance-wise, this album is the wet-dream of any drummer. The percussion is almost ridiculously good. The drummer, known simply as Tjodalv, rips out blast-beats and savage double-bass, but is extremely tasteful and never overplays. This album is worth the purchase for his performance alone.

But, this album is far from a masterpiece. Vocalist Athera is one of the main reasons this album never fully takes off, despite its several attempts. His range is limited, and at his best, he sounds like a Philip Anselmo impersonator with a bad case of the flu. He is certainly not a terrible vocalist by any means. But his vocals are adequate at best, which does hold some of the songs down.

Secondly, there are few songs here that I would call "memorable" or note-worthy. After listening to "Vindication" thoroughly, you are certainly impressed with the sound and sterling production quality, but you probably won't have any of these songs stuck in your head.

Definitely worth buying if you are a metal fan, especially of Scandinavian bands. Susperia is a melting pot of styles and techniques, and a good one at that. But don't expect "The Jester Race" or "Slaughter Of The Soul" from this one.

Industrial music reivew A new style of metal..
This album is somewhere between black and classic iced earth like metal. I really like the sound. The high point of this album is most cirtainly the drumming provided by trodjav, who is a past member of dimmu borgir. Though a great album it lacks quality tracks, and the vocals arnt that great. This is why i gave it only 4out of 5

Industrial music review Susperia strike gold
Susperia is a project brought together by ex-Dimmu Borgir drummer Tjodalv. Let me tell you, this album will beat the crap out of you and want you screaming for more.
Susperia's first album, Predominance was ok, nothing too impressive or new, and in my opinion, bland and uninspiring. Vindication however, is the complete opposite.
From the opening track Cage of Remembrance, the band will make your ears bleed and your skull crack with a pummeling assault of razor sharp guitars, thunderous drum blasts and bass lines, and lead vocalist Athera's surprisingly wide range vocal skills.
To me, it seems, Susperia decided to go with something different on Vindication then they did on their debut. Its almost as if they wanted to throw in a blend of different metal styles and forge it into one solid sound. In my opinion, they succeeded magnificently. You have black metal in the vein of Dimmu Borgir, thrash metal in the vein of Pantera and Slayer, and even some melodic metal like older In Flames.
The song structures are laid out well, starting off either hard and heavy, then slowing down to a dirgy crawl, or starting out with some haunting clean guitar licks then kicking into high gear with a massive wall of grand distorted guitar bliss.
Athera's vocals are impressive, he changes so much in one song he's far from boring, sounding one minute like Phil Ansolmo from Pantera, then going to a Tom Araya like scream the next.
Cyrus and Elvorn simply rip out the guitar riffs on this album. I mean it when I say that these are some of the heaviest, meatiest, and most head bangable guitar riffs I have ever hear since perhaps Slayer or Children of Bodom. Tjodalv pounds away on the drum kit, blast beating one minute, then stepping down to a nice, even, though still hard hitting tempo the next.
Vindication is based heavily on rhythm riffs, and although there are not too many solos, the music changes pace enough times to keep each song fresh and stops them from becoming stale and redundent. All the guitars are packed with enough distortion to make any other metal band jealous, and the way Susperia blends the heavy rhythm riffs together would make even the legendary Slayer proud.
Every song on here to me is memorable. I can pretty much gurantee anyone who listens to this album only once, that you will have some riff from one of these songs stuck in your head. Such songs as "Anguished Scream", "The Bitter Man", and my personal favorite "The Bounty Hunter" are good examples of this.
Do yourself a favor, if your tired of the boring done over and over again death metal such as Deicide and Morbid Angel, or if you are looking for a new band to check out because others like In Flames or Soilwork have become a dissapointment, pick up Susperia's Vindication. I guarentee you will not be let down.

Industrial music review What kind of singer!
When finally you decide to make a personal list of the greatest American crooners in the past Century you must include him necessarily. His voice has a singular style and could to make a real journey from a tour de force song to the most slender song under the moonlight-
Andy Williams will be always remembered due his fascinating charisma and personality. His version of Autumn leaves, for instance is one of the five best I know, but there will be always Williams

Industrial music review Sweet Memories
These songs bring back so many memories from my childhood. I remember dancing in the kitchen with my dad while this tape played. Now I'm 17 and we still have the tape. so when I found the cd on here I had to buy it. My favorites are: "can't get used to losing you", "Moon River", "Born Free", "Danny Boy", "Impossible dream", and my all time favorite..."Emily." It was always a special song since my name is Emily. I know that this was more sharing my feelings than reveiwing the cd, but thats ok. I highly recommend this album. Andy Williams is one of the best.

This is a best of B-sides for Marilyn Manson's Portrait of an American Family era (1994). It kicks off with Manson's mainstream hit, which is a cover of the Eurithmic's Sweet Dreams. Mr. Manson puts his own personal twist on it, as it churns heavy guitars and Manson's unmistakable lyrics. It then goes to the supercharged Dance of the Dopehats remix from Charlie Closure (Keyboardist for Nine Inch Nails). This version is so much better than its original song Dopehat, because it is quicker and has a nice beat that dances from start to finish, something that current Manson songs are missing now. The third track on the import comes from the Lunchbox single and it's a cover of Gary Numan's Down in the Park. This song was far ahead of its time and it even sounds like something you would find on the Mechanical Animals album. It's a slower song, but not a bad song! Finally is Chris Vrenna's version of Lunch Box that also appears on the Lunchbox single. It is an amazing remix that received more radio play than the original song and features loud banging drums with Manson's raging vocals.

Industrial music review Who Am I To Disagree?
The Eurythmics may have been the first (and best) to do this song, but Manson gives his cover the heart, rock, and originality where so many others fell short.

Though the song was perfect to begin, Manson twists it ever so gently to a rock anthem to scream along to. He takes it from the almost sentimental note in which it was originally produced and adds raw, passionate anger. An anger that only he could acheive.

Even if you hate the cover, buy this for the B-Sides that never were. It's well worth the money just for the underground tracks.
