New Wave music review I find myself singing along to every song! It ROCKS!
I listened to it at Barnes and Noble last weekend and I HAD to have it! I already know almost all of the songs and it's just such a great mix, it really puts me in a good mood.

New Wave music review this is a "must have" for your CD collection
I was skeptical when I first listened to the album thinking that it would be a poor quality playback, but I am amazed at the clarity of the clips. I soon found myself singing along with the artists that I have been listinging to for years! If you love classic music sung by classy ladies, then this is the album for you. Remember the commercial "Just do it!"? That statement definitely applies to this album.

New Wave music review upcoming and old school
With a new singer (they accept demos) this could turn out to be
the best metal band ever! Rooted in 80's yet still blazing a path. You wouldn't know anyone still wrote and played guitar riffs like this until you hear it. Good song separation as well.

New Wave music review headbanging retro metal
this album is ferocius in it's attack. Featuring veterans of such bands as sacred reich and steel assassin they have delivered one badass album that will quench the thirst of the most hardheaded headbangers out there.

New Wave music review A marvel!
Among the true innovators of popular music and one of the first artists to fuse ska and fatness while embracing the questions that drive us all, and sticking your tongue out as well.

New Wave music review Simply a masterpeice
Just because the lead singer Buster Bloodvessel is a fat skinhead with a big tongue that he sticks out a lot and that they do songs about being fat and liking ska and rnb dont mean theyre not as intellectual as Radiohead or Sonic Youth. The Manners paint their visions of cats, monsters, woolly textures etc from a far richer palette. The brass section on this peice is also superb. If John Coltrane was a skinhead into ska he would have begged to join Bad Manners.Buster Bloodvessel is the ska Biggy Smalls except unlike that fat naughty legend this one still has blood pumping through him.Mind you he has a similiar sense of fun but not quite as many tunes about crack.Ska n B is Van Goff for the ear.

New Wave music reivew wishing I was there
First heard aussie crawl 20+ yrs ago, and the music then fitted the atmosphere of the time, the cd has brought back many happy memories, It may seem a bit dated to modern times but the rawness of Aussie Rock is still does it for me, get the tinnies chilled the sun block on and give it full volume and you are back on the whitsundays without a care

New Wave music review Great Aussy Tunes Mate
I was lucky enough to live "Downunder" when this came out and I just pulled the old LP out that followed me back home to the states and still sounds great. This is one that will grow on you. Was a big hit overseas. I forgot I had this Gem.

New Wave music review An odd yet classic Aussie album
The first time I ever heard this I thought "What a load of mumbo-jumbo." Thankfully, I persevered with it, and after three or four listens I was happy with my discovery! Despite the eccentric pronunciations, this album has a terrific set of songs. The tempo and beat of the music is very enjoyable. My favourites are Runaway Girls, Shutdown, Midlife Crisis, Letter from Zimbabwe and Happy Song for Problem Children. Give this album a few listens and you'll get used to it. You won't be disappointed.

New Wave music review Awesome but reject the shamanism
I love Peter Kater and most of his music without occult or shaman titles in them, because the truth is, it is part of a cult thinking and spiritual darkness. I studied it for years as I did other cults and I know people firsthand who were involved with the illuminated cult and "ism. Otherwise he has an excellent talent and beautiful spirit in music and melodic creation on the piano and you cannot deny that he has a God-given gift, if and when he ever acknowledges that is truly where it comes from.

New Wave music review Inspiring
This music inspired a scene in the novel I'm writing, along with many a daydream. Peter Kater is a genius. I think "River" is my current favorite in this collection; I wish I had the sheet music for the song so I could learn to play it. One of my fantasies features an image of me, a ragged college student, playing "River" in the back of a deserted concert hall. Picturesque, no? Please, Mr. Kater, send me the sheet music!

New Wave music review 55 minutes and 22 seconds of bliss
The review title says it all. The last track, "Spirit", is the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard. The aptly named "Ascent" is another standout. Calming, serene and uplifting musical experience.

New Wave music review Just good piano music...
I'd like to give this album a back-handed compliment by saying it's just a guy playing piano, albeit wonderfully. The "new age" label is tacked on -- there's nothing contrived here, nothing "new-agey" about Kater's expressive playing (unlike many of his later works, in my opinion). The music excels at painting mental pictures, and most of the songs are worthy of their titles (e.g. Summer's Innocence). Like looking at a masterful painting, the music will transport you. Here's a great example of musical "beginner's mind" -- before the whole image thing came into play, before cashing in on the attention of established audiences takes the front seat. Highly recommended.

New Wave music review A masterful work; Kater taps into the deepest of the soul
Even if you aren't into relaxation/solo new age piano, this album would be for you. Without a doubt, Peter Kater plays with more depth and technical prowess than most other pianists out there. This, his first album, will shoot through you like an arrow. Kater's deeply beautiful and introspective playing will leave you with the same feeling that one gets from seeing a beautiful sunset or landscape. This album should not be missed!

New Wave music review Don't Argue!
A superb compilation of the A & B sides from every single released by the Specials, STEREO-TYPICAL is a a great collection for anyone who loved the band, Ska, or the semi-underground club scene in which both flourished during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Beyond making black & white both a fashion statement and a social comment, Ska, much more than Punk, was able to crack radio playlists on both sides of the Atlantic, allowing in a breath of fresh air after years of increasingly stale corporate Rock and Pop. It seemed fresh and new, yet had its roots in R&B and traditional reggae. On the dance floor Ska was hip with roots, if you follow me.

The Specials were witty, fun, fashionable, bright, had a great horn section, brains and a social conscience. Within the genre they couldn't be touched, and they sound as great now as they did in their glory days.

New Wave music review Great Collection and More!
Whether you're new to Ska or a seasoned fan of the Specials, this 3 CD set will be a welcome addition to your CD collection. Unlike so many "out of the vaults" boxed sets we're seeing nowadays, these CDs are not full of stuff that would have been better left forgotten. This is the best and the rarest music from the most important Ska band since the birth of British Ska in 1977.

Although there is music here that some fans may have never heard, there is plenty of very famous Specials music for everyone to enjoy. In the past, you would have had to collect all the Specials regular releases and quite a few songs only available on vinyl or hard to find compliation discs to get all this music. This collection brings all of it together on 3 discs that won't leave your CD player for months.

Do yourself a favor and get Stereo-Typical now!

New Wave music review 'Straight Outta Burbank' 2-CD various artists (Bomp)
Two discs, with a total of forty-five bands.Due to space limitations,I'll just list the bands and not the tunes of the tracks that I enjoyed the most.Disc one introduces bands on the Bomp and Voxx labels.I dug the tunes by The Zeros,Dead Boys,Brian Jonestown Massacre,Psychotic Youth,Iggy&The Stooges,The Germs,The Heartbreakers(no,not Tom Petty's band),DMZ(doing a 13th Floor Elevator cover)and the Martians.Disc two features bands from the Total Energy and Alive labels. It's equally as good and includes some killer cuts by Swell Maps,Street Walkin' Cheetahs,U.S.Bombs,Pink Fairies,Deviants,MC5,John Sinclair and Sun Ra And His Solar Myth Arkestra.Comes with a 16-page booklet that lists the line-up and details of each song.Fantastic cover!

New Wave music review What? I can't hear you...play louder!
Incredible collection of must-have tracks from Bomp, Alive and Total Energy. From Iggy and the Stooges, the Dead Boys, Zeros, Germs, Dils, Swell Maps, Deviants, etc etc etc -- this is the best compilation I've ever heard. Having the musical pedigree Bomp has, this shouldn't be surprising, but most comps aren't worth picking up. This one is -- especially if your copy comes with a great Bomp sticker in it! (Did I mention Sun Ra? and the Pink Fairies? and Tav Falco? . . . .)

Buy it. Play it. Be grateful you are alive to hear this.

Simply put, this is the one. This is the authoritative career-spanning overview that Motörhead fans have been waiting for. When Lemmy Kilmister, uh, left Hawkwind in 1975 (he was axed), he dreamed of doing, in his words, "the British version of the MC5, simple as that." Of course, his little "fast and vicious" outfit made quite a name for themselves, and this set celebrates the group in all of its testosterone-fueled glory. With 99 tracks spread over five CDs, Stone Deaf Forever offers a glimpse of every single phase of the band's evolution from punk-metal burners to plodding metal gods--every album and every lineup is represented. (The classic trio incarnation--Lemmy, Fast Eddie Clarke, and "Philthy Animal" Taylor--is responsible for more than a disc and a half's worth of the material.) There are 19 previously unreleased cuts, mostly tracks recorded for BBC sessions (and there's also the famous bootleg of Chuck Berry's "Nadine"). Disc five is all live recordings, which has the added benefit of Lemmy's concert banter ("this one is about Los Angeles, I wrote it in England, I was thinking about Italy"). Featuring Lemmy's involvement every step of the way, Stone Deaf Forever is a definitive introduction for newcomers and, thanks to the terrific rarities, a gift for hardcore fans as well. Throw in the perfectly executed 60-page booklet--with notes by Mick Wall--and you have a wonderful survey of one of the most unique and exciting performers in hard-rock history. --Marc Greilsamer

New Wave music reivew Too Much
Motorhead, is good every once in a while. This is way to much Motorhead for any one to handle. They are good but not that talented. I regret not just buying a single best of CD and saving 20 bucks

New Wave music review A Must Have
I haven't stopped listening to this since I found it used in an Austin, TX record shop for only $45. It's got an average of half the songs from EVERY Motorhead album, in some form. I would've prefered the origional studio versions of many of the cuts. But the BBC and live tracks are still kick ass. The poster is kinda lame but the booklet is good quality and very informative...well except it states that "Damage Case" is included but actually isn't. This bastard is addictive, get it NOW!
