Ska music review Live Ska music at it's very best!
I'm usually not a big fan of live albums, but this one does a great job of capturing the fun and energy of the Pietasters Live shows. It includes all the best songs from their first two albums plus some great covers including the Pogues "Fiesta" and a souped up version of the Business' "Drinking and Driving". Definitely my favorite Pietasters album, check it out!

Ska music review Great CD
This CD is awesome. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes ska or just fun music. The Pietasters are, of course, best when live, but this cd is the closest thing to it. And yeah, it's a little vulgar at times, but it's hilarious, and if you know the band, you know that they aren't just saying these things for the cd!

Ska music review This is the best CD ever
This is by far the best CD I have ever bought. Anyone who likes any type of music should buy it. The only thing better than listening to this CD is seeing them live.

Ska music review Pure awse!
I remember back in 1996 when it was pretty much just Blink 182, MxPx, LessThanJake, Goldfinger, and HomeGrown blowin up the pop punk thing....today its pretty much still them, although mostly Blink and HomeGrown...I thought that HomeGrown was going to be huge, like current Blink huge, but for some reason or another they decided not to "sell out"...anyway to keep my review short, Act Your Age is my favorite pop punk record of all time...i listened it on my way to school when i was in highschool and i still listen to it as a sophomore in college...this record has that same "special" quality that Dude Ranch, Losing Srreak, and Golfindger's s/t have - totally unique songs that you can relate to...which is the difference between Blink/HomeGrown and new pop punk bands like RiverFenix, New Found Glory, and Allister who are totally unoriginal and write terible songs...to get a feel for this record check out She's Anti, Last Nite Regrets, Suffer, Your Past, Grow Up, Bad News Blair...actually check out every song...which is another thing about blink and HG, all there songs are good...sooooooo many new punk bands have like 2 or 3 alright songs...whatever though, buy it

Ska music review great
Act your age is one of the best albums i've heard in a long time. I listen to it every day. If your just getting into punk yhis is a great album. "She's Anti", and "Suffer" are the best songs on the album. MY suggestion is that you go out and buy this album.

Ska music review Just simple, awesome punk!
After listening to this album for the first time all the way through, I was in shock. I had never expected in wildest dreams for Home Grown to be as good as they are. The fact is, that they are that good. Every song on Act Your Age has this certain yet unique character to it that only Bob Herco can provide. With the likes of John, Ian (since thrown out of the band), and Adumb, Bob is able to characterize each song with emotional lining and still be able to make it song young and punk. That is a true musical talent at its peak! So many songs go through my head when anyone mentions Act Your Age, but the ones that really stick out are: "Bad News Blair," "She's Anti", "Surfer Girl", "Reflections," "Grow Up," and "All That You Have."

Ska music review Hey Chris...Aaron...everybody..............
Battleska galactica is one of my favorite albums. I had no Idea who these guys Were when I first heard them, but I loved thier sound & energy ion this album. My Buddy then told me who they were, & I had to buy it. What a trip to have grown up with these guys, Hearing them in Our high school auditorium & now being able to hear them all the time... awesome.... VID

Ska music review I saw them live
I went to and Aquabats concert a couple nights ago, and Warsaw was one of the supporting acts. And they were so awesome, it would have almost been worth it just to see them. Well, maybe not. But they were so cool. The guitarist threw in some really good guitar solos. I was suprised.

Ska music review a truly awesome ska album
This album flat out rocks -- the first two tracks "Tap Nasty" and "Club Sex" let you know what you're getting into -- extremely catchy, well thought out music. If you don't move your head and feet to the tracks "Shalom" and "Prospector", then you're probably a corpse! The most important thing here: these guys have talent, something that is so hard to find. It's great to hear some Irish folk-type influence in some of the songs, too. Very original. Why the hell does Amazon not sell this album anymore? Come on guys......

Ska music reivew corn in the horn
The Adjuster's best show of all time was when someone threw corn into the horn at a U of C area show a long while back. It was summerish, maybe '96, my memories are a little hazy from that time period.

Ska music review Great band at first but they?ve changed
I like this album a lot (and politics of style too), they are great and amazing albums, but now the?ve changed, last album (ottis redding will save america) is very different, i don?t like it (very boring). But try to hear this album and it will surprise you a lot.Great female voice in "People make", all songs sounds different and all are incredible

Ska music review Need More Jessica
This is a great album that you can tell was put together with much thought and talent, only it needs more crisp vocals by Jessica Basta!

Ska music review You don't have to be latin to love it
This is a great album, especially for reggae fans, but it has a very catchy rock feeling, too. I have given it as a gift to friends and everyone has loved it. This is one of the best contemporary/alternative bands out there. I recommend it highly.

Ska music review True reggae in Spanish!
This is the band's second album and it's a great follow up to their debut album. The musicality of the reggae groves are very rhythmic and unique, plus the Spanish lyrics are a refreshing change to the genre. I highly recommend this album to all.

Ska music review This has got to be one of the best I've heard
The combination of rhythms and the meaningful lyrics of these songs make this CD one of the best around. I recommend it to anyone who wants to listen to really good music.

Ska music review An little-known gem
As a longtime Skwzbxx fan, I was saddened to hear that this awesome band is breaking up. This CD is a lasting testament to their talent, but their live shows are the real hook. The smooth ska sound of the horns blends with the rock of the electric guitar to make a totally unique, totally danceable beat. You can no longer see them (And their awesome Police covers) in person, but you can still enjoy their music with this CD. Check it out!

Ska music review SKWZBXX really rocks!
I had heard of these guys, and saw Charlton (trumpet) play with Jump, Little Children, but had never heard or seen them. I was lucky enough to catch them last night at the Warehouse in Charleston, and they were so much more amazing than I ever could have imagined. What a wonderful surprise!

Ska music review SKWZBXX is the best band ever!
I first heard them during a Charlotte Musicfest, the band list called them a Scaa band. LOL. They were so astounding during the concert that I got their album, Secret 68. Then a year or so passes and they come out with this follow up album which is fabulous, but doesn't have as many tracks as the first one. The best band ever formed!

Ska music review JUST GREAT
This CD just makes you forget about all your worries while your listening! It gives you power for the rest of the day!! How come? Well, this band provides an amazing skankin beat that drives your feet and legs to move by their own! Pure ska for 45 minutes!

The saxophone and trombone makes a perfect horn-couple, that you'll find espescially catchy in "shame" and "trouble in engineering...".

My favorite songs are "surfin in Tofino" and "whining", it kicks ass and the lyrics are fun.

Don't hesitate, go and put this CD into your shopping cart, I assure you won't regret any single dollar!

Really, the Planet Smashers, they rule, as does Canada!

Ska music review awesomest ska cd ever!
I recommend everyone buy this cd! I love it!! It's ska-filled and the lyrics make you laugh and smile.

xoxo

Ska music review Absolutely Stunning
The fabulous Planet Smashers come back to us with yet another cd. Does it fall short of the finish line? Does it fail even before its started? Absolutely Not!

Pop in the cd and you immediately get the album's title track playing at you "Life of the Party". What a starting song it is! Ear catching horn lines, head shattering driving guitar there is nothing that can stop this amazing track. Moving onto later tracks the cd does not disappoint.

There's some brilliantly conceived enjoyable tracks such as "Surfin in Tofino" and "Super Orgy Porno Party" that you just can't help but move an appendage to, whether it be your arm, foot, or elsewhere.

The Planet Smashers have - I'm happy to say - not strayed from their style as many bands do with later albums. They've kept the same old formula and it delivers a heart stoppingly good array of songs. The same sort of lyrics, the same sort of singing, the same sort of music but does that really matter? Its fantastic, thats all that matters, you'd be an idiot not to buy this.

Ska music review worth the risk
This album is worth the risk of buying if youve never heard of the group at all. They are very good and should not be compared to Sublime at all, even though there sound is almost the same.
This album was recorded during a radio session so its not really a studio album but it still sounds pretty good. If you like the mellow acoustic sound this album has it and is a good chillin album or just a good album to listen to daily.

Ska music review And the legacy plays on.....
If your a fan of Sublime or any of the Southern California sound, i.e. Long Beach DUb Allstars, LB Shortbus, No Doubt, then this is a must have album. Slightly Stoopid takes the sound that was Sublime and continues the Legacy. Mellow and flowing this cd is the perfect music to sit back relax and just listen too.

Ska music review A CD to FALL in LOvE with *~Rasta-Reggae-punk-rock-luv*~
I thought this was just a punk band. Slightly Stoopid proves their musicianship with the diversity of their style.
This album (Acoustic Roots) is a saving grace. It's a byrd to the industry that these guys are just not your everyday punk band. They're not drifters. They're not just lucky. They can back up their punk music with 9 levels deeper than the surface scratch. It's the root.

They made this album when their drummer bailed out on them.. who knew these boys sounded so good on the acoustic tip!!

damn..
get this CD.

Especially if you like surf style rock reggae punk.
This is a CD that will always be in rotation in your disc player.

Here's a righteous romp through the free-spirited L.A. ska-punk pioneers' history. This two-CD set features a well-chosen best-of disc that pulls prime cuts such as "Party at Ground Zero" and "U.G.L.Y" (from Fishbone's mercurial 1985 debut), "Bonin' in the Boneyard" and "Freddie's Dead" (from 1988's Truth and Soul), "Everyday Sunshine" and "Sunless Saturday" (from 1991's The Reality of My Surroundings), and "Black Flowers" (from the 1993 swan song, Give a Monkey a Brain and He'll Swear He's the Center of the Universe). Disc 2 features formative demo tracks from the group's early-'80s incarnation; it's amazing to hear their development from fun, awkward ska players to assured monster musicians, from scrappy horn band to metalloid mofos. Fishbone's influence--be it on the Red Hot Chili Peppers or the Mighty Mighty Bosstones--is massive; their success wasn't. This retrospective clarifies why, for once, you could believe the hype. --James Rotondi
Average review score: Ska music reivew

Ska music reivew 101 is a sampler for those afraid to jump into the Fishbone catalog
Just buy Fishbone's s/t record, In Your Face, Truth & Soul, and Reality instead of this. This two-disc set really isn't worth the money considering there's several (inferior) demo versions of "Lying", "Modern Industry", and "Party at Ground Zero" wasting valuable disc space. 101 is definitely a sampler for those afraid to jump into the Fishbone catalog. With all the songs spread over these discs, there sure is a lot of filler. I suppose Columbia doesn't want to give Fishbone soldiers bang for their buck. There's no way that "Love and Bullsh*t" and "Scrooge" can compete with the simple synth beauty of "In the Air" and the "Many Millions" which is just as good as "Fight the Youth". Like I said, if you've never bought Fishbone before and like the audio clips here, take the plunge and buy one of their first four studio LPs.

Ska music reivew A good collection that misses too much
This is a nice collection, but be warned that CD2 is mostly rare tracks and B-sides that might only be of serious interest to Fishbone afficianados.

CD1 is a mash up of most of their early work and hits.

So, here's the rub... You miss some of the best songs off "Truth and Soul", a great album, as well as "The Reality of My Surroundings". Both albums are worth owning in their entirety. This compilation is like reading chapters of great novels.

For the cost of this CD, you could score both CD's used, and have enough left over to maybe even squeeze in Chim-Chim's Revenge.

I think Bruce McCullough said it best: "Best of albums are for housewives and middle schoolers". The used CD's are cheap, and you get the offbeat tracks as a bonus.

Fossil Fuelin' is a great addition for the Dedicated Fishheads, but as "collection" in one Jewel Case fails miserably. Which is great, because you can just go get the real albums.

Ska music review No better Fishbone in one set!!!!
Growing up in LA in the 80's my friends and I listened to Fishbone almost every time I went cruising. We saw them several times live. We couldn't help it.

This 2 CD set truly is a EXCELLENT intro or reminder of the fun and power, not only music but intellectually, of Fishbone. The first CD covers the standard 'best set' from their albums. I love not needing to carry several CD cases now to get my Fishbone fix.

The second CD is an excellent reminder collection for those fans who were actually there to collect this music, or for those fans who would like more Fishbone to play with!

This album does NOT portray Fishbone as the excellent live band they are. See them in concert for that!
This album does NOT cover ALL their great music. Collect all thier CD's, tapes, LP's and EP's for that.

This album IS an EXCELLENT and large collection of great music by a great band at an super price.

I hope you enjoy as much as I do!
