Ska music review The Best Ziggens CD Ever
This is probably the best Ziggens CD that has been made. It has music for everyone, with Country, Punk Rock, Surfabilly, and more.

Ska music review The Ziggens are brilliant.
Honest talent - Musically the Ziggens are everywhere and they brilliantly master it. The Ziggens cover so much of life with a splash of humor.

Ska music review Top Notch
Awesome - 5 *****. I think Chefdeverque must have been smoking a big spliff when he reviewed this one, he's not even talking about the same album. Crazy baldhead.

Ska music review Good study of the Wailers' development
There are probably more reviews than you can shake a stick at when it comes to the Island albums done by the Wailers and by Bob Marley. True devotees of the Wailers like to seek out their earlier recordings, and this is one of the better collections I have found.
It is as good an example of how the Wailers developed their style as you are likely to find. The songs are splendid to listen to, and can be appreciated on their own merits even without considering the future that Marley and the Wailers had.

Ska music review classic album of classic music
This album is one of my favorites. Definitely a classic. A must have if you love reggae, particularly the original stuff. Notice that UB40 made a killing on their "laour of love" album in the 80's taking most if not all their material from the artists included in 20 reggae classics. Now, if I could just get my hands on volume 2.

Ska music review Get off your ass and buy this album right now, don't wait.
Simply the best. If you buy this and don't love it, I will personally give you double your money back. Seriously. It's that good.

Ska music review Toots Hibberts' Masterpiece
This 1974 album stands as Toots & the Maytals' finest single LP achievement. At this one moment, their Caribbean gospel shout couples with 1970s consciousness and a singularly strong collection of ten original songs and two surprising interpretations. At this point, reggae was no longer a quaint indigenous music, but a serious contribution to the global music scene. If you love Bob Marley's music, you should acquire this disc also.

Ska music review explosive rocksteady is the bomb
this c/d is culled from two l.p. records produced by joe gibbs. gibbs first started producing in 1966, and has worked with legends such as clement "coxsone" dodd, lee "scratch" perry, and prince buster. the first record, "jackpot of hits," contains one of the first true rocksteady songs "hold them" by roy shirley, and it is this song's unique rhythm that helped create a genre. this record features the engineering/board work of lee perry. the second record, "explosive rocksteady," was mixed down by "niney" the observer and is every bit as tight as perry's work. these records feature beautiful vocal harmonies and the tightest musicians available. you would probably dig this record if you are down with duke reid's treasure chest work---highly recomended!

Ska music review ROCKSTEADY AT ITS BEST!
Here is a great reissue of two Trojan released Joe Gibbs produced album.Definately a good buy for someone who likes rocksteady, and especially the Pioneers(who have 8 tracks here). Other great songs by Stranger Cole, Lyn Tait and The Jets, and the Versaltiles

Ska music review This Album Moves Me!!!
The members of this group are my cousins, excluding 1, and They had released anutha album before this one called "A New Version" but it is really hard to find. They go by a new name now called "IMISI" . I aint heard they new stuff yet, but these guys are my fam, and really down 2 earth. So I hope this cd makes a difference in your life as well as it did mine!
God Bless

Ska music review This Christian Group always bring me closer to The Word
I wasn't really into christian music because I knew I was doing wrong and I just couldn't relate to any songs until I heard, "MY FRIEND" on the Youth Exodus(LIVE) Album. Not only that thanks to Youth Exodus for sharing The Word of God through their amazing lyrics to get through to the Young Adults of tomorrow their message penetrates right to the heart!

Ska music review My Favorite Christian Reggae CD!
Youth Exodus is the best Christian Reggae band I've ever heard. A fan of Reggae music, over the years, I have yet to hear anything put out by a Christian band that I truly enjoy listening to again and again. I've had this CD for a few years, and still find myself pulling it out from time to time. It's too bad they never made any additional recordings (that I know of). The sound quality is a little on the crude side, but is more than compensated for in talent, both in the songwriting and performance. I highly recomend this CD to anyone who loves both the Lord Jesus Christ and Reggae music!!

Ska music review It is the same recording as on "Live 75"
Yes, this is the same concert as on LIVE from 1975. It has an extra song, Kinky Reggae...A great CD to own from a wonderful concert.

Ska music review Marley Fan
This Cd is awesome, great sounding set, and I personally like Knky Reggae when he itroduces the band, I think this could be from London '75 though, because it sounds like the Live! album, but they play different songs so maybe it isn,t it's still great sounding, Get Up Stand Up sounds like it gets cut short though, but its good

Memories of Barber Mack
Released in Audio CD by Island (27 January, 1998)
Amazon base price: $16.98
Used price: $10.50
Artist: Ernest Ranglin

Tracks:
  • Papa's Bag Juice
  • Fade Away
  • For Joni
  • Undecided
  • Memories Of Barber Mack
  • Stop That Train
  • Mountain Breeze
  • Lovebird
  • Dancehall Fever
  • Five Thirty
Barber Mack, a sax player in the mento style, was Jamaican jazz guitarist Ranglin's earliest inspiration, and this is his way of saying thank you. But Ranglin doesn't seem quite sure how to say it. Part of this disc is straight-ahead jazz, with some typically liquid Ranglin fretwork. The rest combines jazz with reggae rhythms, even taking in a cover of the ska classic "Stop That Train." Some lovely dub effects from the piano, and a solid rhythm section (including Sly Dunbar making a rare appearance on acoustic drums) for the backdrop to some very inventive playing from Ranglin. It works. But you can't help wishing he'd opted for one thing or the other, instead of constantly shifting. Maybe his memories of Mack are a little mixed? --Chris Nickson

Ska music review A Must for Fans of Jazz, Reggae, and Guitar!
My intention in writing a review of this album is to inspire those who are shopping in and around Ernest Ranglin's catagory of music to buy this CD. I own many Ernest Ranglin CD's. This is my favorite, and in my opinion his most accesible. The music on this CD is inspired by Mento music, but it is not at all limited to this style. If you love Reggae, and Jazz, and incredible guitar players than I can't see you not loving this album. A key ingredient in the success of these recordings is the piano playing of Jon Williams. Like Ranglin on guitar, Williams is a virtuoso on piano. So talented, in fact, that he is able to mimic Ranglin's unique improvisations, pushing the guitarist to, what has to be, his most inspired playing on record. Sly Dunbar's drumming is done so on a traditional kit, which, for him, is rare. It is an awsome experience to hear his electronical dub voice in an acoustic context. David Williams plays acoustic bass, and Larry Macdonald underplays percussion, putting the lace on an already elegent tapastry of traditional island music. You need this album.

Ska music review The Ultimate
I first heard this track on a Cape Town radio station with poor reception. I had never heard of Ranglin. When I came back the states I bought the title-track album and was not disappointed with a single track-unfortunatly it was so good, a friend took my CD for good.
