Ska music review A great start to a new punk ska band
This album is one of the best debut album of any british ska in a long while, not only were the tracks raw but they also have a strong message even if it is smoking pot. They are one of my favorite bands at the moment. This album beats the pants off of any other ska bands that can make such a good album for just 5 grand . If ur looking for raw talent this is for you.

When you do buy this if you like it as much as i did your buy their second album "Smoke the roach" which is equally good and with the little extra cash they di so much more.

I wouldnt say there was any bad songs they all really rocked my boat and im normally in to metal, such as ssystem of a down , and linkin park, and i would place Whitmore in the same league as those !!!!!!!

If you want summin a little different this is for you ,

    get it !!!

    The Agents
    Radical Records RAD 70034-2

Two-thirds reggae, one-third ska, this record adds up to four-thirds fun for the right environment, and the right environment for this one is pretty flexible. Got a stereo on your boat? Driving the beltway around Raleigh in heavy, fast traffic going someplace you want to go? Snow skiing with a walkman? Getting ready for a party with college friends? Three hours into that same party? <401> is a great choice for you in any of these settings if you're 25-49 years of age, have ever eaten Pepperidge Farm products or are record shopping on a day ending in "y."

<401>'s greatest strength comes from the studio. While The Agents are a wholly praiseworthy band, there are other bands out there that are competitive with them. Those other bands didn't enjoy the Mark Creegan production and Robert Pemberton/Sound.Station7 recording and mixing. It's a thoroughgoing package for the ear, with imaginative, crisp use of a wide range of effects.

It's really a nice stylistic stew. The techno and horn insistence of ska is tempered by reggae's undercurrent of swaying mellowness. At the same time, the energy of ska requires listeners to lift their feet on occasion while moving to the music, which pure reggae would never do.

Eleven songs. Cut four, "Everynight," is the one least likely to be anyone's favorite, but it's not so bad, either.

Ska music review Yeah Rhode Island
I have to say that this is a very good album. I think that Rhode Island is represented very well by the Agents. If you like ska at all this is a great album and even if you're looking for just catchy songs that have good instrumentation this is a good cd. "Sally Brown" is such a good song. Where i used to work we used to listen to it over and over and it still is such a good song. Give Rhode Island some love and buy this cd. You can't find this cd at many stores so buy it here.

Ska music reivew A gem from down under that way
Wow. This was a most pleasant surprise. It actually had me walking back to Open Mind music in San Francisco to find out what exactly this genre was. Is it reggae? Is it dancehall? I found out, it's basically early dancehall. Tracks like "Sleng Tang" (a late 70s dancehall gem) are worth the price of admission alone. Jesus, if this is volume three, then I can't wait to get my mitts on #1. This is fast late-night groovy times music.

Ska music review Classic tune after classic tune - perfect party album.
This is an excellent introduction to anyone who likes true reggae but finds the jungle of unknown artists a tad dawnting to pick through. On the whole all of the Dynamite series are worth buying and this is the pick of a good bunch. All the tracks are exciting, happy and uplifting but none are cheesy or tacky. There are 4 tracks that are absolute classics:

'Under me sleng teng' by Wayne Smith
    'Bam Bam' by Sister Nancy
'Take it Easy' by Hopeton Lewis' (worth the price of the album on its own).

    'Coconut Woman'

This is an album everyone would enjoy for it's funky, catchy beats.

Ska music reivew Yet Another BEST OF Collection
They all can't be "best of" collections, can they? Nope. Most of them are cheaply licensed, low quality pressings. But of the low quality Maytals records out there, this cd is one of the better ones. That's not saying much, but it's definitely better than the current pressing of MONKEY MAN that sells for $5.99. You'd still be better off picking up the Island and Trojan cds of Toots and the Maytals, but *if* have to pick one of cheap pressings, this one isn't as bad as most of them. The best "best of" collection was pressed by Trojan several years ago, and it was called, "The Best of Toots and the Maytals," which was the very first "best of" collection and, with the exception of the Island recordings, the only "best of" collection that did justice to the group. Unfortunately, that original Trojan cd is either out of print or extremely hard to find. Until it's reprinted, settling for a cd like this will have to do, I guess.

Ska music review A good collection of toots' hits
This CD contains a lot of great songs by toots and the maytals at a very reasonable price. I would recommend this CD to anyone who wants to explore reggae music. I listen to it all the time.
