Folks, if more than a "best of" cd is what you crave for your rocksteady or Dekker collection, this is the album to get, and let me tell you, it sounds as incredibly fresh now as it must have sounded then. Jah smiled broadly on Dekker when this lp was being made.

Anyone who has an "oldies" format radio station and who listens to it has heard the classic "Israelites" at least once on it, but probably didn't recognize the rocksteady beats propelling it. Now you will know!! and you can impress your friends with you new-found knowledge. A good thing! :)

The rest of the lp is top notch, as well. Numerous hits grace this lp, including Jimmy Cliffs' "You Can Get It If You Really Want," "It Mek," "That's the Way Life Goes," "Pickney Girl," "Rude Boy Train," "I Believe," "Nincompoop," and "Peace of Mind." All of the aforementioned were top 20 (at least) hits for Dekker. How many lps can you think of that have that many hits on it?! Even the Beatles can't claim that!

I can't stress enough the importance of this cd for your rocksteady, Jamaican, or ANY collection. Get it! It really is THAT good.

I love this album, but then: I was a Musical Youth fan since 1982's "Pass The Dutchie" and have remained a fan ever since. I doubt that you could call this 'The Best Of' Musical Youth, as they made some really good tracks that are only on their studio albums and singles (B-sides!), but this definitely IS the collection of all tracks that have been singles (A-sides). This one is practically the same as "Maximum Volune: The Best Of Musical Youth", except is has different liner notes and leaves out the unnecessary 1995 remix of "Dutchie". To conclude: this is a great item for everyone that loves "Pass The Dutchie" or anything else by MY and an addition to the collectors' collection, but wasn't necessary to be released since Universal releases "Maximum Volume" AND One Way released "Anthology".

This compilation of the great producer Coxon Dodd is another collection of reggae greats that are going to be obscure if we don't cherish the rhythms that don't promote violence and sexism. Every song on this CD is great to listen to. It's worth the investment.

Essential original versions of some of the countlessly versioned riddims that made reggae great. A true masterpiece of Reggae.

I have seen Sara perform twice now--the last time with her older daughter along with her. She is great with kids and her songs are catchy, easily learned and have wonderful messages in them. Look at me....a song that all parents should listen to and every kid should learn to sing. This album includes all of her older kid material..it will have you singing, clapping and wanting more. The final song on the album is beautiful and bittersweet and makes for a great lullaby. It's a wonderful collection. If you have the chance to see her perform...it's well worth the effort.

Award-winning singer and songwriter Sara Hickman reaches out with enthusiastic and movement-oriented songs to spark activity, confidence, and imagination in developing young minds. The individual tracks include Iolana, Cantaloupe!, Ooh La La, Middle Of A Little Country Road, Eat My Breakfast, Look At Me, Louise, Pledge, Little Seed, Radiation Man, Pink On The Inside, Here It Comes, My Sista My Friend, Nanatime!, Little Yella Dog, Belinsky, I Wish I Were A Princess, It's Fall, Space Poetry!, Pillowman!, Red Wagon, Rainstick, I Wish You Well, and Pray For Peace. Also very highly recommended are the two earlier CDs from Sarah Hickman: Newborn (featuring both traditional and original songs for newborns and their parents) and Toddler (a collection of songs, stories, and poetry that teaches counting, colors, animals, sounds, and geography suitable for preschoolers).

I think this album was very fun. Good beat, good lyrics, and catchy tunes. Judge Dread plays with the listener in many of his songs, for example: "There once was a sailor, sittin' on a rock. Wavin' and shakin' his big hairy fist at the ladies." Good Cd! Two thumbs up!

I love surf music and this CD contains some classic surf sounds. I've heard that these guys are true surfers - pretty cool for East Coast Dudes and very cool to have surf music from real surfers instead of a bunch of hodad dorks. I wonder if El Rollo was written from the band's personal experience riding the waves. This wahini says this CD is primo surf!

This was the Rudiment's after all the ska-crap, it is dark and beautiful. it makes me feel happy yet sad like i am on some wonderful drug. i wish they would have put out another album like this before their demise. rip
