Ska music review good old reggae
you love the old reggae from the '60's? heartbeat has it. this recording is all hits, not a bad tune on the disc. all the tunes are produced by clancy eccles. most of the cuts are rock steady, but the best one, come together, is not. no reggae/rap here, wasn't invented yet (like beanyman), just beautiful melodies and a non-stop beat. this recording passes my test of great music, it effortlessly transends the generation gap. whenever i find a disc that i can't stop listening to i hand it over to my daughter to get her opinion, (I'm 46 and she is 19), if she loves it too then i know for sure it's great. don't believe me? listen to a few clips, you too will be hooked (and so will your kids).

One of the hardest working indie bands in any genre, Chicago's Blue Meanies mix ska, klezmer, various world musics, punk rock, and just about anything else they can get their hands on. Fans have coined yet another new name to describe them: skunkcore (which hopefully is not a comment on their personal hygiene). The Rev. Jim Cooley's versatile and innovative guitar playing will make your head spin. Jim Derogatis

Ska music review An Innovative, Groundbreaking Album
I picked this one up from Asian Man out of curiousity, and I was blown away. One could say that the Blue Meanies encompass several genres of music, but I daresay they've created an entirely new one. Their music is crazy, violent, and fun as hell. "Kiss Your Ass Goodbye" has the sounds of punk, ska, polka, jazz, and metal all mixed in, but it never clings to one of these and always knock's the listener's ears off-guard. Every time I listen to this record, I hear something new within the melody, harmony, timbre, or rhythm that I did not notice before. To put it simply, it's mindblowing. I recommend that everyone who is a fan of punk, metal, ska (especially 3rd wave), jazz, or any type of music to pick up this CD. It is well worth it.

Ska music review Must have!
I saw these guys last summer at the Beach Break on the Cape. They played for hours and had everybody dancing and having a great time. The next day, I bought their cds. This cd is constantly in the cd changer. If you like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Sublime, Long Beach Dub Allstars, etc you will love this disc. Incredible horns and energy permeate their songs and make you want to groove. All of my friends have asked for the name of the cd after listening to it once or twice. Great summer driving music, too!

Ska music review Very nice.
This precious little gem of an album features some of the best local acts, including the impossibly hard to find Investigators and Franceska, both of whom turn in some amazing tracks: the Investigator's with Evil Twin and Franceska with Diego. The Two Tonne Bowlers and local legend Engine 54 are also pretty easy on the ears. Buy it. Buy it now.

Ska music review Gotta love it!
A great live ska CD for fans of Reel Big Fish and/or The Aquabats. These guys can put together some really great songs and this CD is an excellent sampling. Live but still very clear and impressive. I've enjoyed it a lot. (You may want to look into a band called I Voted For Kodos for a similar ska/punk goodness.)

Ska music review One of the best albums in existence
JFC is my favorite band of all time. This album is the best that they released. It is a live album, so you really get a feel for what the band's shows were all about. You can hear how much the crowd is into them, and that adds a lot to the whole experience of listening to this album. The songs are mostly old stuff, but JFC can do no wrong, so it's alright. The new material is as amazing as every other song the band ever played. They stray from their usual ska style on two tracks. One being "Like A Dog" which was originally on the album "Nothing To Prove." The other non-ska song is a touching tribute to the band. This is a recording of the last show they performed just before breaking up. It's an excellent record, and if for no other reason you should love it just because it's important in the history of this amazing band.

Ska music review Great CD; a must for any rudeboy!
This has to be my favorite laurel aitken or skatalites CD. My favorite track is probably rude boy dreams, a trad ska song. Some of the tracks are somewhat unusual, but they grow on you. If I could, I would've given this 6 stars!

Ska music reivew A good preview
These guys are amazing musicians; perfect together - a modern Simon and Garfunkel. This album is pretty good on it's own, basically the best modern rock out there, if you'll call it that. It's hard to call it anything because these guys are totally unique; it's a sound I've been lookin for but haven't found in other artists. Even better are there next two albums, and more diverse.

Ska music review BOMB!
If you like the guitar and some chill mellow music, you gotta have this CD.

Ska music review Best of Slighly Stoopid
This album in my opinion is by far slightly stoopid's best. I don't really care for most of their other music just because they sound so "white". This is pure reggae.
