Ska music review Houston Ska at its Best
I've seen these guys for 6 years now, and I was disappointed in hearing that they will soon call it quits. Regardless, if you are reading this, it is your god-given duty to buy this CD. The sound is incredible... not what you would expect from a non-major label recording. The songs are tight, with a great bass and stellar vocals from Thomas Escalante. If you live in a big city, pay close attention to the first track... you will appreciate it. There is not one dud on here... SKA RULES, and so do the Suspects!

Ska music review The Cheese Album
From the very beginning of the first track, "From the Start", you can feel the excitement of the soulful four piece horn section. The bright sounds of ska fill your ears and make you tap your toe."Growin Up" is a tune that you cant help but get up and "skank" to. It is obvious that this one of a kind band has the sound of many veteran ska bands such as The Skatalites, Reel Big Fish, and Save Ferris. With front-man Sam Sullivan wailing out the delightful lyrics, the powerful horn section, and the unstoppable rhythm section, Liquid Cheese's "Lost In the Music" is by far one of the most unique albums of this generation.

Ska music review Blasts The Ska Oh So Nicely...
If you're looking for a group of talented musicians, from all over the ska world (and from as many genres)... contemplate on purchasing this very disc! The title tracks starts it all off, and the ska and reggae just lays itself out before you in vast melodic landscapes. My friend saw em in concert at Oberlin, and they're some of the nicest people she's ever met! If you're looking for third wave, go elsewhere... this is where it all started (well a new era of traditional anyway)

Ska music review Fantastic Florida Ska Band
This band knows what they are doing and their first album proves it. I first heard Magadog on the Skarmageddon compilation and decided to give them a try for a full album. I'm sure glad I did because from the first song (Monkey in the Whitehouse) all the way through, this album is catchy and delightfuly skankorific!! I definitely suggest it to anyone who likes ska and needs a new band to listen to.

Ska music review Tampa Ska Band, Magadog, rocks Florida
Magadog is on fire with their self-titled album... Magadog is a must for any mod or rudi and you'll know you've heard them before on a comp if you haven't ever heard of them. That's because a few songs from the self-titled album like Monkey in the Whitehouse and their cover of Brown-Eyed Girl are notorious for being on Ska comps. The album varies in tempo giving a sort of summary of what you'd expect to hear from Magadog live.

    Ska music review Mest Rox!
Mest is so cool. I like the song "Jaded (These Years" Feat. Benji Madden from Good Charlotte. The song sounds sad, then happy, excited, and then at the end you just want to scream for five seconds and listen to it again! The lead singer is Tony, for all you guys who didn't know. Some other dude sings one of the songs and then he does back vocals. I forgot his name.....oh well! Great cd!

Ska music review Upbeat & Energetic, 'Miss Fortune' Delivers
How many times have you been asked, "Here, give this CD a whirl, you'll really like it", only to find mediocrity at its finest. That seemed to be what was going to happen with this CD. I was a little apprehensive about listening to this SKA CD, figuring it was going to be a 'follow a no talent, college underground, it's cool to like SKA for no reason other than everyone else in college listens to SKA' band.

I was pleasantly surprised! The overall quality of the music on this CD is superb. 'Miss Fortune' is an addicting CD. I find myself spinning it often. The songs are upbeat. 'Miss Fortune' is well laid out. My favorite track is 'Girl in My Kitchen' which is about a morning after with a hangover and girl who make breakfast after a what was going to be a one night stand (At least that's how I interpreted it).

Listening to the CD, I can tell Dave's Big Deluxe has fun with the songs. They are serious about their music but do not take themselves too seriously; a trait not normally found in much of today's music.

Now I find myself one of those people asking others to give it a spin, hoping they don't set up the same prejudice I did.
