Ska music review KILLER LIVE REGGAE-PUNK ALBUM !!!!!!
Recorded in 1995 before a capacity crowd (among which a humble server was sweatily present) this is the crowning glory and last album for this incredibly good argentinian band.Very reggae-tinged and at the same time explosively agressive hardcore punk in texture and sound (think Bad Brains meet GBH) ,the album is a ride throughout the several albums which make up their career. The sound is uneven but overall very good, and the versions of the songs are a far cry from those on the studio album, making this cd a worthy and exciting addition to your collection or simply doubling as an excellent greatest hits for the uninitiated.A word of advice : best if played as loud as you can possibly tolerate !!!!

Ska music review The most "Expressive" reggae-punk compilation.... EVER!!!
An explosive meddley of sounds and rithms that scream uncomformity and show the social reality of modern latin america.

Ska music review I was stoned, like a sinner.
This album explores a post-ska expansion with some swing influence- predating that GAP swing explosion. LOTS of horn parts. If you like horns, you'll love this album. The bottom heavy horn section: Bass Bone, Bari Sax, Tenor Sax, and one trumpet makes for an excellent huge sound that is a relief after listing to so many twangy, and screechy small horn sections. The structure of the music puts the horn parts in your face, while the slippery bass parts and chaotic guitaring messes with the mind. Great album, especially the last track.

Ska music review This is the one to get!
There's plenty of Specials CDs out there, but if you just want one to add to your collection, this is it. The music is great fun, and it never fails to get people dancing. The recording sounds a bit thin on some of the tracks, but it's not bad.

Ska music review When the real world gets you down, take off with ska...
For anyone interested in the first wave of Jamaican ska, than this insanely cheap CD is essential listening. Taken from the original masters of Top Deck supremo, David Yap, and representing about a third of his total, short-lived output, these 26 journeys feature such legends as Ferdie Nelson, Roland Alphonso, Tommy McCook and, of course, that miraculous session band, the Skatalites. Obeying the hypnotic hum of the totem Dub, this compilation revels in ska's versatility, its ability to clash soul, jazz, blues, spaghetti soundtracks, Latino et al into epic wet dreams.

Ska music review Rude Boys Unite
This compilation is an outstanding introduction to the unique "rude boy" genre of '60s Jamaican music. These light-hearted and amusing songs pay tribute to the often violent lifestyles of urban youth. Many of the themes (and a few of the songs) turn up later in the film "The Harder They Come". The audio here is raw and authentic, the music original and inventive. A must for fans of Caribbean music.

Ska music review This CD is awesome!
This CD features 5 tracks of some of the best music I have ever heard. Powerful guitars with great drums! The Keys accompany 3 songs on this cd really well. This is the best cd by TBP yet and TBP keeps getting better. The last track is an acoustic track which is just flat out awesome. You'll love this cd. Buy it today!

Ska music review Excellent Sound Quality AND A Classic Ska Collection!!!
Collecting early Ska (60's era)can be frustrating because of the varying quality of the source material. You never really know what you are getting sound quality wise on different labels unless you actually listen to the disc first. This particular release on the Heartbeat label, "Ska After Ska After Ska", is an outstanding Ska collection AND it has the absolute best sound quality I have ever heard for material of this vintage. A five star package if there ever was one! It sounds like it was recorded yesterday - it's that good - a rarity for early Ska CDs. The song selection is also not to be missed. Even if you already have some of this material you really owe it to youself to consider an upgrade purchase. Just buy it!

Ska music reivew For Jam Completest's Only
I purchase this because I've allways been a huge Jam fan (although thats through listening to one cd "Snap" and the video compilation "Video Snap"). Now 41 I've come to financial means and nostalgia to start obtaining the complete Jam discography (which after buying all their released albums on cd I realized missed some great singles, DOH!). I also started buying all (well most) of Wellers stuff, including The Style Coucil. Since this is all I could find on CD from Bruce I had to have it (plus a 5 star glowing review on Amazon, what's up with all the 5 star reviews?). One of my favorite Jam songs is "News Of The World" which is a Bruce piece and the bass riffs on a lot of the Jam songs are just so awesome. Unfortunatly, this cd lacks any sound like the Jam days even though it was recorded in 83-84. I was trying to think of what it sounds like, and "Animotion" came to mind without the female lead vocals; its heavy in synth and horns and I can hardly hear any bass on the tracks. 3 stars is probably too many but it sure isn't 5 stars. One track may have qualified for a "Golden Throats" CD if Bruce was a TV star instead of musician the track "24 or 6 to 4" is horrid. Bruce himself did an interview that questions the quality of this material on http://www.thejam.org.uk/bruce.html .
A redeeming factor for my purchase of this disc is a bonus CDV track of Bruce and a band (unknown when or who they are, its not on the liner notes) doing "Smithers Jones". Bruce is rocking with his bass front and center and voice sounds great. It's really too bad the Jam split up when they did. "Beat Surrender" is still a great song I play often and it was their last single! While Weller has done some really good stuff afterward, I like him best with Foxton playing bass and backing on vocals. AHHH...I'll allways have the 80's (early 80's)!

Ska music review Attention Jam Fans, Style Council Fans: Get this one!
Whether you're a Jam fan, Style Council fan, Paul Weller fan, or none of the above, it's easy to become a Bruce Foxton fan with this 1984 album. This is Britpop done right; a delightful collection of fun tunes beautifully performed, provocative words, original music, you name it. Ever since I bought this album on vinyl when it first came out, I've searched high and low for other Bruce Foxton albums, but never found another thing. Very frustrating. The World deserves more from him. Not one of these songs, from the upbeat "Freak" to pop-infused "SOS My Imagination," get boring no matter how many times you play them. In fact, as much as I loved Paul Weller's Style Council albums, this one's better than some of them.
