Punk in DubHmmm, at first it was a little strange but each time I listen to this record it becomes better. Great idea!!! To make dub versions of punkrock 'oldies' For all those who love Dub and Punk :)) I recommend to listen also to 'Dub Side of the Moon' - Dub versions of Pink Floyd and 'Psyhedelic Souls' - Dub versions of 60ties hits. I wanted to give it four stars only, but I discovered that I listened to this record 4 times allready today and I got it yesterday!

wonderful to have them back! One of the greatest british bands ever have finally returned - after years and years of sadness. And it's wonderful to have them back. Catchy tunes, witty lyrics and exciting arrangements: Madness at their best! Just listen to exceptional tunes like LOVESTRUCK, ELYSIUM or the exceptional JOHNNY THE HORSE and you will see again how fantastic pop music can be! Not to forget DRIP FED FRED - the final recording of the late and great Mr. Ian Dury. Buy it - you won't regret it!

important debutThis remastered cd offers a look into the very early days of Dekker- well before the mind blowing success of "Israelites." It offers Dekker's first recording, "Honour Your Mother and Father," as well as several of his early tracks with his backing band, the (Four) Aces, including the great "Mount Zion."
While not as polished or successful as later releases, this lp showcases the young Dekker and that amazing voice of his that would skyrocket him to international success.
A great place to start with any artist is the beginning, and for Dekker, this is where it all started. The songs are great, as was his voice and presence. A wonderful companion to any Dekker or rocksteady collection.

One of a handful of pop groups in the latter half of the 1990s to exploit the renewed interest in American roots (swing, big band, soul) music, this Eugene, Oregon ensemble scored big with a neat modern update of the old school. Purists take note: Cherry Poppin' Daddies built a following by touring with third-wave ska outfits like Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Reel Big Fish, prompting main Daddy Steve Perry to wryly call his group "third-wave swing." But post-Swingers dance fanatics (rockabilly retro-cats, modern-day sockhoppers, and Royal Crown Revue boosters) don't sweat the particulars. Charged horn arrangements, bouncy rhythms, and saucy verve effectively recall masters like Basie, Cab, and Ol' Blue Eyes while injecting an unmistakable post-punk ethic. --Mark Woodlief

Great Music, vulgar lyricsThe music is great, but the lyrics are pretty vulgar on most tracks. I would like to hear a strictly instrumental album.
Cherry Poppin' Daddies bring swing back to lifeI am 14 years old, and I love this CD. The way the music flows, it just makes you want to dance! This is perhaps the best CD I have ever owned. The Cherry Poppin' Daddies have thrown swing into my life from the bell of a saxophone. After I listened to this CD I realized what mindless [...] I has been jammin' to before (System of a Down, Linkin Park, Korn etc.). I strongly urge you to buy this CD either for you, or as a gift for some teenager, or even child. Who knows, they might be chuckin' all their System of a Down Cd's and start blastin' some music you like too. Good Luck!
Swinging musicWhen I started hearing "Zoot Suit Riot" I would sing with my friends and we'd alternate the lyrics "throw back a bottle of beer" to "throw back a bottle of root beer," because we were in 6th and 7th grade and we didn't like the alcohol references. The title cut, "Pink Elephant" and "Master and Slave" are the top 3 songs on this CD. As said in one of the reviews there are a few songs with vulgar lyrics, but most of them don't have too many. The CD is very good, especially if you like swing music.

Didn't quite meet my expectationsIf the first song you heard by Mest came off this album and you're thinking of buying the CD because of it, then go for it, I'm sure you'll love it. If you have old Mest albums and are thinking of buying this because you assume it'll be just as good as the old ones... preview the songs online first because this album is different. I usually think change is a good thing. I tried to like this album, but I just couldn't accept it. I loved Destination Unknown to death. I bought the self-titled Mest album the day that it came out, hoping it would be like Destination Unkown all over again. Unfortunately, it wasn't. It wasn't just the more polished production or the poppier sound that bothered me. I felt as if the band had changed their sound, like it wasn't Mest anymore. The difference was subtle, but it was there and I noticed it as soon as I put the CD in my stereo. A band trying to be more versatile and experimenting is something that I'm all for, I have no problem with it. It's trying to hold onto themselves in the process that is hard to do, something that I feel Mest wasn't able to accomplish. It sounds like the band focused too much on making a CD that would appeal to more people and bring in new fans. That's not to say that doing that isn't important. The problem is, the band didn't really do much to keep the older, original fans hooked. This is the album that made me move on from Mest and find other bands. You want the essence of Mest? Buy Destination Unknown.

Brad Thinks Its GreatThis May not be the best album to come from mest but I rate it high, that shows how good the other two are. They may have gone for quite a different sound but it's great. The best songs are Jaded and Rooftops and Chance of a lifetime's acoustic balladry provides a welcome change of pace.Well worth 5 stars

MessssssssttttI loved this Cd soooo much. I bought it, and the next week, i took it to my friends house, and played it, a while later, i took it out of her stereo, and placed it upsidedown on her desk. BIG mistake!!! we then proceeded to light candles a such, when she knew she wasn't allowed to, then we had to smother the flmae, and the smoke went everywhere. then she sprayed perfume around the room, and it landed on my wonderful Destination unknown CD! I WAS SO MAD! She runined it, and I now have to go buy another one! But yes..as I was saying, awesome CD. Probably my favourite out of all of their Cd's, and i think they'll keep getting better!
Pop Punk at its BestMest is definatley one of my favourite bands and all of thier albums are great. They are at the top of the list as far as the pop punk genre goes. The music is fast paced and extremely catchy. If you like Yellowcard, The Starting Line, Green Day, Good Charlotte, Blink 182 and New Found Glory then I recommend Mest.
Destination Unknown is a truly amazing cd and deserves to be played loud and often. It is full of up beat catchy songs. The tunes all have the capability of getting stuck in your head. Sure, a lot of the songs are about girls and brokendown relationships, but what do you expect listening to a group of young guys singing about what's going on in their lives.
Some of my favourite songs on the album are:
Opinions
Cadillac
It's Over
Reason
Mother's Prayer
If you liked Mest's first album then you will definately enjoy this one also. All 14 songs are great, no filler included. I highly recommend Destination Unknown and if you like this one you will be sure to enjoy their other two albums also!

A Must Buy For AnyoneIf you aren't a Reel Big Fish fan, buy this CD. You will instantly love it. If you are a Reel Big Fish fan, then what are you waiting for? But it! This CD rocks. There are plenty of awesome songs, like Somebody Hates Me, The Set Up (You Need This), and definately Down In Flames. My favorite is Down In Flames. It has to be one of the best songs Reel Big Fish has ever done and is one of the best ska songs! it is very catchy, it is not 2 minutes long (try 4:49), and it takes seconds to fall in love with it. Slightly better than their other album "Turn The Radio Off", it is just a rockin' CD. But, it still has its "ok" songs that you might skip when listening to it. This is why I couldn't give it 5 stars. But this is NO reason NOT to buy it -- about 90% of the music on this CD is ska-punk goodness that you'll eat right up!
Not as good as previous albums, but still satisfying"Why do they rock so hard?",the follow up to "Turn The Radio Off" by Reel Big Fish was entertaining to listen to. It is true that it isn't as good as the previous albums, but then again it's different from the previous albums. RBF seemed to mellow down on most of the tracks this time around, but at the same time didn't loose their edge. Tracks that made this album kick were "Somebody hates me", "Shes famous now", "The Set up (you need this", "I want your girlfriend..", "The kids don't like it" & "Down in flames". Pick this one up if you like Reel Big Fish and own the previous albums, but if you are a first time buyer check out "Turn The Radio Off".

Don't pay full priceThis contains 1985's Country Living, and 1987's In Store For You. The Gladiators were falling apart during these albums making an uneasy transition into the 80's. The song writing is slight as shown by the song titles, a little too much cheesy 80's keyboard.
You are better served by Dreadlocks, Bongo Red: Studio One, or Trenchtown albums.
These are okay albums, but not worth paying full price.

A MUST for all Reggae lovers. Truly uplifting!I have outworn this Gladiators CD! I rate it as one of my favourite all time reggae albums. Its way up there with Bob Marley and Burning Spear. This is reggae music...you'll feel the naturality and spirituality when you listen to this album.

Great collection - horrible qualityAs much as I love The Untouchables and was dying for someone to put all their classics to CD, this is not what I thought I'd be typing here. Cherry Red's remastering has terrible sound quality. Compared to the original vinyls, it sounds like you're listeing to these songs through giant ear muffs. None of the edge and liveliness, neither the great guitar kicks nor the low beaty thumps, that IS the distinct Untouchable sound gets conveyed here.
Retro 80's. Nice flashback vibe of ska & soul, Like no other. This is a super album. Not to diss the British but The UNTOUCHABLES master that soul/ska sound better than THE ENGLISGH BEAT. "I Confess" is the only song I can deal with by them. The UNTOUCHABLES are far more intelleGENT with their sound selection. Favorites "I Spy For The F.B.I.", "Freak In The Streets", "What's Gone Wrong", "Free Yourself" etc. I'm not dissing the BEAT but with that beat, they need some UNTOUCHABLE soul..like this!!!!
Excellant UT cd!For all of you LA based ska-brothers this is an excellant CD! This CD has almost all of UT's good songs! The only songs missing are The General, Tropical bird, Twist & crawl and Dance beat (the singles). This is a "can't miss" cd!
