Ska music review Feel it in the one drop
This is a great compilation of songs that belong on Legend, so if you already own Legend you should probably get this. The songs here are from albums not included on Legend like Natty Dread, Survival and Rastaman Vibration. Those 3 albums are amoung Bob and the Wailers' best works and they should definitely be heard. The instrumentation here is just as good as on legend, and the songs here are fan and collector favorites so you will be sure to enoy them as well. I am glad that Natural Mystic has continued to help the legend live on, and if you like Legend get this cd and you will be well on your way to a fine Wailers collection.

Ska music review Mystic Marley !
Natural Mystic is by far one of the best Bob Marley collections, along with Legend & Songs of Freedom. Bob Marley fans certainly won't be dissappointed with Natural Mystic. Bob inspires us as he sings his songs of love, hope, peace, and freedom. The message is certainly clear and evident in each of these songs.

One can certainly see where Marley gets the title "King of Reggae" from as he chants down on songs like "Easy Skanking", "Iron Lion Zion" "Pimper's Paradise" "So Much Trouble in the World". Bob also does an awesome rendition of Curtis "the Pioneer" Mayfield's song "Keep on Movin." And last but certainly not least the heartfelt "Time Will Tell". This is a must have for all Marley fans both young and old. The Legend continues as our Natural Mystic's voice continues to echo.

Though the shell is gone, the spirit remains as the Legacy continues and the message remains the same. Bob, thank you for your Songs of Freedom. R.I.P., Our Lion from Zion!

Ska music review Truly timeless
I've owned this CD for some time, now and I'd have to agree that Bob Marley's music should be denied by no one. I pop it into my CD player in the car and at home and can't help but turn it up after the first couple of tracks play through. The music is mass-appealing and his voice is unmatched. If you don't own any of Marley's CD's yet this would be a great first, as is "Legend". It is a necessity for anyone who appreciates great music and lyrics that are fulfilling and passionate.

Ska music reivew THIS IS A GOOD
THIS A GOOD CD OTHER THAN THE FACT HE TALKS ABOUT ASSULTING HIS GIRLFRIEND ON ONE OF THE SONGS BUT IT TOOK A FEW LISTENS FOR ME TO GET INTO IT BUT IT IS GOOD

Ska music reivew Goooood Ska
This is a great album. I like their sound on this album. Cant say too much for em when they left to go to hellcat records, but this is a classic.

Ska music review Classic Third Wave CD
This classic moon release is probably the Pietasters's most favored album. This is because there is more ska on here than their other albums, which delve farther into soul and rock 'n' roll.

Every song on this cd is great, and most of them are still played live, despite the fact that this was released back in '95. Songs like "Something Better", "Freak Show", "Pleasure Bribe", and "Movin' On Up" will get anyone dancing instantly, while other classics such as "Maggie Mae", "Girl Take It Easy", "Night Before", and "Biblical Sense" will get you singing from beginning to end.

This is definitely a classic and a must have for anyone's ska collection, whether they be a huge ska fan or just a casual listener.

Ska music reivew The stuggle continues...
Maybe it should stop cause... it isn't that good man! I won't lie the only reason I like Link 80 was cuase of Nick I can't back this or any band that sounds like it becuase Nick wouldn't be in it (cuase uh he can't obviously). Anyways I hate the bonus track at the end of this where they cover (well I guess you can't cover your own song, but it's so bad it sounds like it) No Way Out. Man do I love that song and these guys ruin it, THEY RUIN THEIR OWN SONG! How could I possibly listen to this, I'm sorry I love(d) Link 80 but I just... oh well I don't think it matters ALL that much either way the band is on "haitus" (read broken up) and the cd is just old and the band is old and I doubt anybody who is new to music will be looking at this without knowing what it already is, you wanted my two cents (you didn't? No I think you did, don't lie!)? BOW there it is homieeeeeeeeeee

Ska music review Newer Link 80 without Nick, but still incredible
This is a great album. I do favor 17 Reasons more, but without Nicks singing I think this album still delivers. Great horn lines, fast drumming, furious guitar riffs... its basically the Link 80 I've always known and loved, just a new singer. It was great to hear a new version of Nowhere Fast, too. If you're a Link 80 fan or a fan of ska-core of ska-punk in gerneral, pick this up, along with 17 Reasons, you wont regret it. My favorites include Addiction, Intolerance, My Girl, Evil Twin, and Resist in G Minor.

Ska music review Very Powerfull & Strong Message
This is Link 80's second full legnth release after their former lead singer Nick Traina committed suicide because of depression. This cd has many qualities. For one it's cheap for 16 songs, great guitar and lyrics. If you are a fan of Link 80, you need this cd. The East Bay Hardcore style in this cd is obvious making it fun to listen to.

1. Addiction - Starts off creepy then goes hardcore, fast paced, the horns are great!

2. Evil Twin - Another fast paced song from Link80, great instruments, and lyrics

3. Righ Hook - Catchy sax and trombone sounds, good guitar as always, and ok lyrics

4. Intolerance - I quess this song is about school, teachers, ...

5. Nothing New - A fun song when everything is catchy: tunes, lyrics

6. Resist in G Minor - This song has a lot of yelling, but has a good message, sort-of short, and awesome guitar.

7. Step Up - Good lyrics, instruments as usual, and fun.

8. Face Down - The only Link80 song I'm not to fond of for some reason. It's a good song and all, but I just don't like it that much.

9. My Girl - Mike Park sings most of the lyrics in this song, of course it's about a girl, great horns, and drums.

10. Past Tense - This song and the next, I think are about Nick Traina with the titles and the lyrics, both great songs

11. Time for Change - Reasons with track 10

12. Tengo Nada - Good song, a normal Link80 song

13. Peril After Peril - Rockin' beats and catchy tunes are what explain this song

14. Unbroken - A fun last song, good everything as usual

So all in all, this Link 80 cd, should be the most wanted East Bay Hardcore cd, nothing bad about it. I gave it 5 stars because of everything I have listed, If this is your fisrt Link 80 buy it, and if you like the EBH, check out 17 reasons where Nick Traina sang the lyrics.

Ska music reivew Good band, mediocre hits album
Sublime was easily one of the finest alternative rock acts of the nineties. It's only proper that the band got a Best Of CD. Read on for my review of this, the band's first (to my knowledge) hits package.

PROS:
-If you're the casual Sublime fan, and you don't want to hunt down all of the band's studio albums, this is a fairly good alternative. Wrong Way, Doin' Time, Date Rape, Smoke Two Joints, and all the other hits are here for your listening pleasure.

CONS:
-The major flaw of this compilation is that it just isn't enough. There are just ten tracks, and they could easily have fit ANOTHER ten in the time limit of the CD.
-Needless to say, the self-titled album is overemphasized.
-It's out of print and near impossible to find.

OVERALL:
This is a good hits package. I actually recommend you purchase all of the band's albums, though. But if you're on a budget and you don't want to hunt down all of them, this is the way to go. JUST MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE UNCUT VERSION.

Ska music reivew simply great!
Sublime's music is just amazing, and you can't get all of it just within this album. It's the first Sublime CD I had, and the songs are all oustanding, but familiar (all played on the radio extensively.) I'd definitely recommend this CD but their other albums (Robbin' the Hood, 40 oz. to Freedom, and self-titled) would be a much better buy.

Ska music review The best band ever!
If you want to listen to an awesome band with soul, sublime is it!

Sublime - The best band in the world!!!!!

Ska music review Remember H2O Here.
This is the cd that I like to remember H2O with - its really dark melodic punk/hardcore. Its one of the best cds of the genre as well.

Even though they well ... went against everything they stood for with their first album (and "sold out", went to a major label, changed their genre to the fit the trends, etc.) this album still stands the test of time.

If you're into their newer stuff but haven't checked out any of their earlier work, check this album about and give a listen to the bands that they have tattooed onto themselves while your at it.

Ska music review H2O IS THE BEST
THIS IN MY OPINION IS THE BEST CD NEXT TO GO THAT H2O HAS DONE.

Ska music review GREAT ALBUM! H2O AT ITS BEST!!
If you are a fan of Punk music, then this CD needs to be in your collection. The first Epitaph release for H2O is definitely their strongest...even though all four of their albums are fantastic... These NYC Hardcore guys keep it positive and put on the best live performances that I've seen. They exude energy and Toby keeps it real by hopping in the crowd on a regular basis. H2O are definitely at the top of the list of all the new school punk bands. I could go on and on about how these guys rock, but you'll just have to experience it for yourselves. Buy this album!! You will not be disappointed.

Ska music reivew Pleasant but unmemorable
There aren't any bad songs on this album, but there are no really great ones either. It tends to just fade into the background, never coming to life and grabbing your attention like the Urge does at their best. "Receiving the Gift of Flavor" and "Master of Styles" are much more compelling albums.

Ska music reivew A Million Times Better Than Smash Mouth
The Urge has got to be one of the best ska/punk/metal alternative bands out there, along with 311. However, "Too Much Stereo" sort of had a pop-alternative vibe to it. This is not a bad thing. "Receiving The Gift Of Flavor" may be a better listen for Urge and Sublime fans, but this stuff deserves a listen as well. "Master Of Styles" is also a great disc, as "Jump Right In" features Nick Hexum from 311.

Back to "Too Much Stereo"...
I never heard of these guys until three years after their breakup. This disc isn't as powerful as the stuff on "Receiving The Gift Of Flavor", that's why it loses a star. However, the song "Too Much Stereo" is a 2000 classic. I wish I knew what another single from this album was.

If you think this CD sounds like Smash Mouth, you obviously need to lay off the cough syrup. I'm worried about you. Smash Mouth is a crappy sell-out band that produces crappy songs that make it in children's movies such as Shrek and such. This band sucks so much that when I was in FYE and looking in the "Just In Bin" of used CD's, I saw 3 copies of their self-titled piece of crap. This is how much they suck.

The Urge, however, was a good ban. If you like 311 and miss Sublime, listen to this. You will not be let down.

Ska music review 3 Killer Albums by an Underrated Band...
I have to say that I really enjoy The Urge, that music has a great upbeat feel to it and it can always lift my spirits. I first heard about them actually from the CD sampler that came with Korn's - Follow The Leader. The song was "Straight to Hell" from Master of Styles. I quickly went out and bought the release, although the cd was quite a bit different than that single track, that was in no way a bad thing. I downloaded various songs off of their other two albums and eventually bought them off Amazon for like $2 a piece and I can say that it was worth every penny and a lot more.

I actually like this CD the best out of all 3, with Master of Styles coming in second. At first I liked Receiving the Gift of Flavor a lot, but its feel kind of lost its effect on me after a while. Here's a breakdown of the songs on TMS and what I think:

1. What is this - This is a great intro to an album, great lyrics and I love the sound of the bass. Very catchy chorus. 10/10

2. Too Much Stereo - An instant single, again amazing lyrics, you can tell that these guys have fun with the music they play 9/10

3. What Do They Know - A solid song, a little different from the rest musically but it works very well. But not one of my favorites 7/10

4. Four Letters And Two Words - This is my favorite track on the disc and actually why I bought it, this is a beautiful song that also rocks.. what more could you want? 11/10

5. Liar, Liar - Very catchy tune and chorus, this song keeps the momentum up. 8/10

6. I Go Home - This is the first "real" slow song but has great lyrics and a nice feel to it, I like it better than track 7 9/10

7. Say A Prayer - This is another slow song and winds down a bit, and although I like it, I think it wasn't put in the right place of the CD 8/10

8. Welcome to Gunville - You can't NOT like this song! The lyrics are amazing, the double meanings and the rhymes and the vocals and music are amazing. If this wasn't a single it should have been, 2nd favorite on disc! 10/10

9. Living on the Surface - Again, awesome bass and pretty decent vocals, but this song is lacking something, can't really place it though 7/10

10. Push on Like Flinstone - I have to admit when I first heard this song I didn't like it a whole lot but it grew on me, not one of the best but good 8/10

11. Warning, Warning - Although this is a somewhat short and slow song I think it's a good way to wind down the album. Has a really funky feel to it 9/10

All in all a great album and worth more than the Amazon used price.

Ska music review I was there!
Great CD, and I was at the good ol' Ranch bowl when they recorded this album. Great show, their second best show of theirs I've ever seen.

Ska music review One Night Stand
This album is incredible. It really shows how tight a band Goldfinger really is. This was for the most part recorded in one night on a whim after a three hour show. It was the first time most of the band members had seen the charts. Any band that can pump out excellent covers like these on a whim is worth listening to. Nite Klub and Downpressor Man are extremely catchy and Feel Like Making Love is just awsome.

Ska music reivew Not a great beginner's CD
This is my first intro to DHC. I am a big fan of groups with intelligent or interesting lyrics (TMBG, Barenaked Ladies, Nerfherder) and used the Amazon recommendation to look into them. I figured this would hit their better songs and let me decide if I want to pursue them further.

The problem with a live album is that it is harder to understand the lyrics so I am not sure if I would like a studio album since I am such a lyrics fan. They seem like a fun band with lots of energy and would be a good live show. However, I don't like how they drop the F-bomb a lot.

Overall, it is likely a very good album for DHC fans but maybe not a good starter's album.

Ska music review Just as good as if you were seeing them in concert!!!
I just bought this CD and absolutely LOVE it!! I saw DHC in concert about 8 years ago in Hawaii and it was one of my all time favorites! This CD really brings back great memories of how GREAT they sound live! It's so upbeat and catchy!

Ska music review wow...just wow
To anyone reading this review, BUY THIS CD! I bought it after not knowing many DHC songs and it knocked me off of my feet. The CD was instantly on the list as one of my all time favorite CD's. There isn't one song on here not worth listening to. Trust me, it's the kind of CD you listen to in your car and decide to keep driving around, just so you can keep listening to..alright maybe I'm the only one that happened to, but trust me, there is not one song on here that you won't want to listen to.
