Ska music reivew Goofy novelty garage-punk... and I mean that in a good way.
A fun, dumb, cheerfully irritating yet kinda catchy record. This Canadian quartet plays refurbished, pop-punked-up garage riffs at a lightning fast pace, packed with silly, dorko-rific lyrics on songs like "Nard Nest," "Salad Bar" and "Addicted To Cheese." It's the sound of cruising-into-middle-age pop-culture hipster geeks having a blast, playing their electric guitars and banging their little drums for all they're worth. This may not be an album that will live with you immortally forever, but it would certainly spice up a rock-based set on your local college radio station. Worth checking out.

Ska music review Pure maple syrupy sweet masterpiece
This album is so life affirming that I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't benefit from listening to it. Fire your psychiatrist and buy Ripple Rock. Your problems will dissapear instantly.

Nardwuar is a hairball of joy. Every tune is filled with hooks, wit, and energy. I don't know what else to say but BUY IT or live out the rest of your shallow existence feeling like you're missing something.

Ska music review Nardwuar Rocks
Those of you who don' know who Mr. Nardwuar is, well you should. He is from Vancouver Canada, hosts a radio show and dose interviews with celebs for Muchmusic. He is a big ball of halarity rolled in plad. This CD is up beat and funny. Agreat listen. "Keep on rockin' in the free world and doot doola doot doot ___ ___.

Ska music reivew DC's rockinest second-wave cats--must have!
This CD definitely had me tappin my hooves to the swingin beats. Good stuff, and they put on an awesome live show. Definitely the recent best of DC's second wave ska groups.

Ska music review Listen over and over and over
E.S.T. reminds me of a twisted Big Band Music. I listen to them over and over and just can't get enough. What comes to mind is the animated Bear named Baloo in the Jungle Book when he is starting to dance to the Monkey song. His comment " Man, what a groovy beat!"

Ska music review A must have album for anyone of any music taste.
I am not a ska fan, heck I don't even know what the word means but I love this album. As a musician myself, I was in awe of the talent and polished arrangements of Eastern Standard Time's covers and orignals. I caught myself whistling the melodies. "Richard Bruce" is my favorite track, but the whole album keeps your toes tappin' and wishin' a CD could hold more than 72 minutes. What you hear on this album more than anything is that this is a band. There are no slackers in this group. You don't hear the prevailing soloing of one lead musician like most groups today, but a confident blend of everyone's talent. Although you could buy the CD here, and I am sure EST would appreciate it, find out where these guys play and see them live. I bet they are even better in person. I know I will.

Ska music reivew The Widest Ranged Christian Rock Album Around
This was the first christian rock CD I've boughten. The CD is the best when it comes to variety of christian rock. The punk-style rock with Raze, the praise and worship rock with Delirious, the ska-style rock with The Supertones, the hard rock with Skillet, the rap-rock from Audio Adrenaline, the pop-rock with Smalltown Poets, and more. The only bad thing about this CD that it got old pretty quick. The only song left on the CD that I still like is Delirious' Revival Town. Buy it if you want short time fun for your ears.

Ska music review Great variety:pumped up
This CD has it all. The punk of slick shoes goes well with the industrial sounds of skillet. Supertones and Five Iron Frenzy pump up the ska and Graptree's R&B is highlited along with Pop Artists like Rebecca St. James and smalltown poets. Audio Adrenaline puts another edge on it.

Ska music review THIS CD ROCKS!!
This is a really great cd,it has some serious songs, but also fun things.I have seltzer 2,and I'm gonna get seltzer 1 soon. All three of them are great cds,you have to get them!

Ska music reivew Review of the Soundtrack to Taylor Steele's movie "The Show"
I love this soundtrack! I think It's awesome to see so many great punk bands together on one CD. There are some really good songs on here, my personal favorites being those by Rancid, Lagwagon, AFI & Dance Hall Crashers. My only problem is that I've never seen the movie and I can't find it anywhere! If you know where I can find it, let me know! I'd love to see it (with a soundtrack like this one, how can it be bad?)!

Ska music review Get this, now!
Amazing compilation, has taken the very best songs from each artist (in most cases) and from start to finish every track is absolutely amazing! Some of the best tracks on the cd in my view include, Descendents - Shattered, Pennywise - Need To Know, Good Riddance - Fertile fields, 98 Mute - Breakdown and Unwritten Law - Teenage Suicide, altho every other song is good in its own right! Get it, ya won't b disappointed!

Ska music review The Movie!
The movie itself is a surf video, not an actual movie... don't bother with it unless you are really interested in surfing, just stick to the soundtrack! :)

Ska music reivew Strong
A strong Ska piece. There isn't much of the muddy sounds the punk influence seems to produce. The high point of this collection is "Hung Up" by Bim Skala Bim. A better slection is Sak Down Her Way: Vol. II. But if you have that go for this one too.

Ska music review top-ten-desert-island-fave!
Every time I play this people ask to see the CD case and want a copy for themselves. It's one of my top-ten-desert-island-faves so I enjoy turning my friends on to it. I love every track except for maybe the lyrics of "lyin' a** b**". It's just a little too realistic a portrayal of a dysfunctional relationship. If you love ska or are just beginning to be interested and want an album that will introduce you to new bands and not have any throw-away tracks on it, buy this one!

Ska music review Love it!!!
I grew up with Ska and more power to any one who's in a Ska band any one who's just starting out in the world of Ska I think that women in perticular are very good Ska artists refering to the nation wide known one's of today's genre of Ska bands especially Isaac Green and the Skalars from St. Louis Missouri I think that they are on there way up the ladder to stardom and I hope they make it big with there female vocalist's and the rest of the band thanx alot Mike Murphy END

Ska music reivew Skank those dreads and don't drop your sushi!
Many years ago I was listening to the radio (to a now defunct programme) when the car turned into a mosh pit! What in the hell was that? None other than this album. What a blast.Twelve practitioners of the genre, still learning on this album, but quite capaable of pumping out a strict ska beat with jazzy solos over the top. Some of the compositions are not at the same standard as the others, but on the whole, a fun fun fun purchase. Just be glad that it is still in print.

Ska music review You'll want to see them live...
I saw this band live ten years ago and I've been hoping to find an album of theirs ever since then. This is a great album to start with. Most of the songs are crisp and full of energy. They do an amazing cover of "Baby Elephant Walk" that will bring anyone to the dance floor. As for being Ska, Ska Para incorporates many different style of music seemlessly but it's driving force is a huge horn section. I love to play this album for my friends who are skeptical of a Japanese Ska band and watch their jaws drop when they hear what a great sound they have.

Ska music review Ska at its best.
If you're a fan of Ska, I suggest that you pick up this recording. I assume no one is reviewing this band because they are a mainstay in Japan, and haven't really made it big in the United States (what Ska band has REALLY made it big in the United States after all).

Anyway, these guys are great, and the sound quality is awesome. I would also recommend picking up their live album Gunslingers. Another good Japanese Ska band is Kemuri.

The Skatalites were to the beginnings of Jamaican pop music (ska, rock steady, reggae) what Booker T. & the MGs were to the beginnings of Memphis soul. Like the MGs, the Skatalites were a tight, innovative band that not only backed the major singers of their field but also scored major instrumental hits on their own. And like the MGs, the Skatalites have reunited despite the death of a key member (drummer Al Jackson for the MGs; trombonist Don Drummond for the Skatalites) to play for a whole new generation of soul and ska fans. The Skatalites' reunion album, Ska Voovee, may not have the spark of a young band plowing new ground, but it does deliver the satisfaction of old pros revisiting the scene of their triumph. --Geoffrey Himes
Average review score: Ska music reivew

Ska music reivew good, solid skatalites
This album is a good, fairly typical offering from one of the greatest bands in ska. With a number of classy songs themed around various locations and several other strong tracks (policewoman, etc.) this is a good album for new or veteran fans. Plus, as a special bonus, the Skatalites are joined by the super-excellent jazz trombonist Steve Turre, who guests with jazzy ska bands from time to time. Not their best album, but a great one. I'd also recommend Skamania, if you like this, or Foundation Ska if you are looking for a more complete overview or retrospective type album.

Ska music review awesome horn solos, delightfully jazzy ska
Another stellar effort from the original kings of ska--the skatalites just keep getting better with age! Of all the Skatalites albums I've listened to(Foundation Ska, Ball of Fire, Stretching Out, and this one), this one is by far my favorite, for three reasons: 1) great horn solos, maybe the best I've heard on any of their albums, and a good balance between sax, trumpet, and trombone solos. 2) The songs on this album are never too repetitive--some songs on their other albums have a tendency to repeat the same chord over and over again ad nauseum, but you won't find that here. 3) The overall ensemble sound on this record is superb. Similar to Ball of Fire, but with better(less repetitive) songs and more and better solos.

Ska music review Honed to perfection
Have the Skatalites ever had an inadequate recording? Whether you are an old fan or are just discovering ska and the Skatalites, Ska Voovee should be part of your collection. The horns are great and the images evoked by the selections are simply fabulous, especially the tribute to Japanese ska. Ska Voovee is a tightly drawn but humourous look at themselves and their music as it spans the decades from Fifties/Sixties to the present and goes global. Don't be without it.

Ska music reivew Safunkrastapunk
Not Skankin' Pickle's best album, but still a good one for fans to have. The groovy music, funny lyrics, and strange little jokes make it a rather enjoyable cd.

Ska music review Still sounds good
I first heard of Skankin' Pickle back in 1991 when I was a sophomore in college at UT. I went to see them in the fall of 1991 at a club here in Austin called Mercado Caribe (a reggae club back then). I remember having the time of my life, listening to great music and eating free pineapple and other fruit. I'd never seen anything quite like them before. I bought the Skafunkrastapunk cassette immediately after the show and have enjoyed listening to it for years. I need to get it on CD. My musical tastes have changed exponentially since college, but I still dig the Pickle.

Ska music review Best Ska CD I own
Alright, every song on this CD is great. I recommend it to anyone looking for a punk/ska cd, and most of all for fans of Skankin Pickle

Ska music reivew Excellent Mix of Various Artists
This is an excellent CD to own. I enjoy it everyday, There are alot of these Skunk Samplers to collect.

Ska music reivew Slightly Stoopid is amazing!
I picked this CD up because I love Sublime. I actually discoverd a band that I love just as much through this CD Slightly Stoopid. Long Beach Dub is cool to, but whenever I throw this disc in I immediately fast forward to Slightly Stoopid songs "Mexico" and "False Rythms" I actuallyu bought their two full length CD's which are now my two favorites.

Ska music review Skunk Records Rocks!
Everybody knows that Sublime is the best band in the history of music, but what happens when you need something new? Sublime can't make new stuff, so you have to turn to other bands. Why not turn to bands on the same label as Sublime? The LOng Beach Dub Allstars, the Ziggens, Slightly Stoopid, Filibuster, and more all bust out bitchin' tracks on this cd. Buy it and I guarantee you will be happy.

Ska music reivew Whitmore the ska punk duo
I bought this album after hearing the track alsion on p-rock t.v which is still probably my personel best. But here is a list of the tracks and a rating out of 5

Alison 5 classic old school punk rock witha EXTREMELY catchy tune that you cannot forget and won't forget.

Scones 3.5 O.k quite short could be improved the tune will seem recognizable but you will not be able to point out where from

On the Ceiling 4.5 The p-rock theme tune great intro poor lyrics but hey they fit into the song

29 times 4 Good but very forgetable

Johnny Bells Greenhouse 5 Great tune is perfect lyrics are good.

Star thing 3.5 O.k

The rest of the tracks are all the same so i cannot rate them but lets just say is you hate punk then never even think about buying this album

Ska music review 5 stars
after seeing Whitmore twice live at the pitz (milton keynes) i decided to buy their album. its probably one of the best punk rock albums in my collections and i cant wait for them to tour again!

Ska music review Woohoo for Whitmore!!!
This is a truly brilliant cd from British Ska/Punkers Whitmore! All the songs are all fantastic, especially Alison, Scones, * (Star Thing), 29 Times, Johnny Bells Greenhouse. Buy this cd, you wont be dissapointed!! Trust me!!!!
