I purchased other learning videos, I want say "quite expensive" for my daughter 10 months at the time. Later to hear about Hip Hop Baby. This is the best product I could have purchased 2 months ago for my daughter. She is now 17 months and watches everyday. She still gets excited to learn the same as the first day.
Thank You

This video is great!!! My son is 17 months old and he MUST watch it everyday. He sings along, counts to 10, says animal sounds, and says the colors. As a teacher, I think its a great BASIC way to teach kids.....

Remarkable!

I'm not kidding!!! Within minutes of putting the DVD in, my 2 year old granddaughter was singing and dancing along. It was wonderful! Every day after day-care she wants to look at her "Hip-Hop Babies" DVD. This is a wonderful product!

Last Friday, I got the best thing in the mail - It's Hop Hop, Baby!

Hannah (14 months) isn't quite old enough to understand all the songs on the "All Your Child's Favorites" DVD we got, but she sure did enjoy it! With great games like "Simon Says" and "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" all put to upbeat music, it's a kids movie that I actually enjoyed watching and participating in with her! She sure thought that jumping up and down with mommy during "Simon Says" was a good time! Although she doesn't know how to do "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" yet, she sure figured out that she should be dancing with that music on pretty quick!

We had a wide variety of songs and short breaks in the 30 minute video. I think the best part was when the kids were asked their favorite letter, and my daughter chimed in with the letter "C!" (Okay, she didn't really know what she was doing, but she just learned how to say the letter C, so she heard other kids saying it, and she was NOT going to be left out of this.)

This is a great way to get parents and kids up and moving together. I actually am looking forward to getting to watch it with her again!

It's Hip Hop, Baby is available at Amazon.com for the great price of $7.99. I definitely think it's worth it!

I bought this for my enjoyment as well as to play between sets of my live music gigs. One song after the other, phat grooves, soulful stuff. I always knew I liked that Stax sound, but this CD went beyond even high expectations.

I first saw this CD at a store on Beale Street in Memphis. I almost bought it there but couldn't believe the price on Amazon. It has the definitive collection of Soul, R&B and Blues from the Stax era in Memphis. There are 50 songs on the 2 CD set and at least 2/3's are awesome! Many songs you won't find many other places - and they are all in one place.

Great Summary of the Output of the Best Soul Label Ever!

If the hologram snapping fingers on the cover don't give any indication of the lively, funky, toe-tappin' Southern soul that Stax put out, you should put on this box set for an introduction. For a very affordable price, it covers most of the major hits from the biggest artists of the label, including Otis Redding, Carla Thomas, Booker T. and the MG's, Sam and Dave, Johnnie Taylor, and Isaac Hayes, and includes songs by less famous acts that you'd be hard-pressed to find represented by an easily available compilation. Stax was the best soul label ever, grittier than Atlantic and Motown, and with an exuberant, passionate spirit that made it all its own.

Great "brings back memories" music!

I bought this package after visiting the Stax Museum of American Soul Music in Memphis. I've always enjoyed the old soul sound from the 60's, as performed by people like Sam and Dave, Otis Redding and many others. What I hadn't realized until touring the museum was that all this great music was truly produced out of love by a relatively small group of musicians and producers in an old abandoned theater they'd converted into a studio from scratch. For those not in a position to tour the museum, this album tells the story not only in printed word but with fifty of the best known hits they recorded. Read through the track listing and you'll see what I mean. And one thing about Stax, since the musicians and the artists worked together almost as a family, chances are if you like a song by one artist, you'll like them all. Among the best tracks here are Otis Redding's I've Been Loving You Too Long, Johnnie Taylor's Who's Making Love and the late Isaac Hayes' mind blowing Theme From Shaft. There are also some long forgotten gems like William Bell's You Don't Miss Your Water and Mel and Tim's Starting All Over Again. The Stax 50th Anniversary Collection is great music that needs to be heard not only for its historical place in popular culture, but also because it's as much fun to listen to now as it was thirty, forty and fifty years ago. And if you're not familiar with the story behind the music, the booklet provided will shed some light into the blood, sweat and tears that was Stax records. Plus, the cover has a really neat hologram of the famous Stax logo. You can actually make the fingers snap by moving the box! And finally, after listening I highly recommend you find time to tour the museum in Soulsville, Memphis, Tennessee. It's outstanding!

I bought this to teach students more about music in different African countries and found the music very addictive and upbeat. One thing that would have made this (and many other Putumayo CDs) better would be if Putumayo provided full translation of the lyrics. Some songs (e.g. Jambo Bwana, Battu, etc.) only had translations for one paragraph of the lyrics while other songs did not have any translations at all (e.g. Mbube, Hello Hello).

This is what music is supposed to be about...especially the music of Miles Davis

I avoided this one for a while. I'm not an obsessive Miles "purist," by any means, but I approach any project featuring his music with an extreme sense of caution.

Mark Isham made a bold move with Miles Remembered: The Silent Way Project, which admirably and lovingly recaptured some of the prime moments from the Bitches Brew era.

Bill Laswell scored with Panthalassa: The Music of Miles Davis 1969-1974.

But the concept of Miles alumni collaborating with "world" musicians, adding layers and nuances to the music? This is the kind of project that begins with true 50-50 odds for success.

To my surprise, this is a powerful, well-rounded set. At first, the wordless "vocalizing" during certain pieces was a bit jarring. These compositions are so well known among Davis followers that the introduction of any "unfamiliar element"...whether it's an instrument, a voice, or both...demands that you sit back and see where it will take you, rather than react negatively to it as an intrusion.

I've heard various people who knew Miles say that the posthumous box sets...things like The Complete In a Silent Way Sessions...would have truly angered the man, because the music was released the way he wanted it released in its original form.

Would Miles have loved "Miles From India" or hated it? The answer is one or the other. I don't feel that he would have greeted it with indifference.

It's no substitute for the actual work of Miles Davis, nor is it intended to be. But if you are a follower of his music, it's a refreshing alternate view of his craft from a substantial group of men who helped make it happen, along with some new friends.

Miles was all about shattering labels and boundaries, creating new horizons. In that spirit, I encourage you to give this album a spin.

I had to blink a couple of times when I saw the price. $20 and it's all or nothing - only one track available separately. THIS IS NOT HOW DOWNLOADABLE MUSIC SALES ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK. This is the music industry trying to preserve an obsolete model.

I didn't buy it and I don't plan to.

As good as the cd is and it's very good, nothing like vinyl. The sound on the vinyl is tremendous. I have a small inexpensive system but this sounded GREAT!! Even with my small speakers it sounded like the musicians were in the room with me.

And since it's vinyl, the packaging of the 3 lp's and the box and booklet; the whole thing looks like a collector's item.

In fact, I am going to buy 5 more because in a few years this will be going for 250-300 dollars here and on ebay.

Not what I hoped for . . . but it has its merits

I was excited about it when I heard about the project -- I loved the concept. I knew it had some key people, like Michael Henderson, Bartz, Pete, Chick Corea, Lenny White. And to my ears, the music came off "good" overall. But -- with a a couple of exceptions (Spanish Key, Ife), it is missing that thing, that DRAMA. I think those listeners who have followed Miles all these years know what I'm trying to say - it's the thing that makes his music NEVER get old, always fresh. But I can't fault anybody involved with this Miles From India record - my hats are off to you - this session truly must have been a labor of love. Yes, the drama is missing . . . but only because Miles couldn't be there.

Which Features Both David Lee Roth Era and Sammy Haggard Era(Sadly). Lots of good songs, Growing up to this thanks to my uncle and as a child of the 80's. Songs Like "Panama", Runnin, and my favorite as a Kid : Jump! . While Not the best band and not my favorite, I can't stand glam rock, Catchy tunes nonetheless.

Edward, Alexander, Michael, Samuel and of course Diamond David are all here to rock you on this long-awaited, double disc of jams.

This is your ultimate Van Halen experience. The only things missing are the newer songs from THE BEST OF VAN HALEN VOL. 1 and anything from Gary Cherone lead disaster, VAN HALEN 3. The songs spiritual sensing "Learning To See", horny getting' "Up For Breakfast" and reunion exhaustion "It's About Time" are not bad for their super long hiatus but nothing close to the vintage hits like the genesis "Running With The Devil" to Journey-vibin' BALANCE album. It's here. What's also here are 3 live tracks which VAN HALEN could have given one VH3 tune (just to make Gary feel important to the band), "Won't Get Fooled Again" from LIVE: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW and "Can't Get This Stuff No More" in its place.

Too much time and bitter feuds have caused Van Halen standing in darkness for long over a decade of a new album. But time changes things and people. Within time, maybe a new album will appear hopefully before a posthumous one.

6 missing gems.....

Because of the 3 terrible new songs.....And....the 3 terrible live tracks........THIS ALBUM BITES. WHY, mess up hit's collections with new (BAD) songs? WHY, mess up great openings in the track list, for live songs? SO EVERBODY WILL WAIT AND BUY THE NEXT, "HIT's ALBUM". More money, for a "LAZY,DON'T GIVE A HOOTE BAND" . JUST LIKE AXEL ROSE,VAN-HALEN TREATS IT'S FANS TERRIBLE. The sad, thing is....most of there fans love the PAIN. " And pay for it ".

You there, yeh YOU, how did you know, when you just reached out and touched me ~ that it was OK? Nobody touches me. 'Cept you. What's up with you, you telepathic or something, that's pretty fearless 'cause I'm pretty unpredictable and fairly illimitable when I put my heart in it. Watch it ~ 'cause it can get fast, fast. But whatcha really need to know before you proceed with me is what's the big fat difference between David Lee and Sammy.

Excellent with a few flaws

I echo what other reviewers have said here. I am no Van Halen zealot, but I do enjoy the band's music. I had a couple of discs, but I bought this one for storing lossless on my AppleTV. Like others, the live tracks seem a bit out of place, but I take no points off for inclusion of unnecessary items. But there is--for me--one glaring fault: the exclusion of "Intruder" from its role as predecessor to "Oh Pretty Woman." I mean, it is that incredible lead up to OPW that makes the song combo such a rocker. The OPW rendition is pretty good on its own, but with Intruder, it is killer. Its absence costs one star for me.

Can I use the word "awesome" to describe a compilation of music from the 40's? Well, I must say, I'm impressed. I'm 25, I work in a nursing facility, I know nothing about music from this time, and I purchased this CD for my residents with them in mind. The first time I put it on, I had a gentleman literally dancing in his seat. He was singing every word to every song. He called out each artist and each song - he remembered them all. I felt like I had just given him a gift.
I've had other residents and their family members ask for the name of the album, so they could find it. It's truly a hit with the generation that grew up on these songs! Highly recommended. And best of all, I enjoy the music too...it has me singing the Strip Polka all day.

This CD would have been perfection except for the inclusion of two songs by Betty Hutton (listening to her mangled version of IT HAD TO BE YOU is too painful for words) and the exclusion of Glenn Miller. Perhaps whoever put this collection together experienced a brief psychotic break. I can't think of any other reason why the off-key, over-the-top vocals of Betty Hutton would have been selected over Glenn Miller.

Enjoyed listening to songs from my past. These are songs that cannot be found on radio stations anymore. For older adults it is a great find.

I ordered this a month ago, and haven't received it. I emailed the seller but got no response. I have submitted a claim to Amazon and haven't heard anything. I am upset because the money has been deducted from my checking account.

I purchased this CD set about a month ago and have been listening to it almost exclusively since I received it. The audio archives presented are amazing! Each attraction built for the World's Fair has its own CD: It's a Small World, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Magic Skyway, and The Carousel of Progress. There is also a CD of Progressland - an early, unused version of The Carousel of Progress. My favorites are It's a Small World and the Carousel of Progress mainly because these include the great songs "It's a Small World" and "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" written by Richard and Robert Sherman. All CDs include isolated music and vocal tracks of the songs and rides which are foundations of the Disney Parks. Being a music teacher, I am fascinated to hear these isolated tracks. I hear something new each time! To hear the isolated instrumental tracks for all the various international versions of It's a Small World played by native instruments is a special treat. There's no way to appreciate the care taken with the arrangement and performance of the music while on the actual ride which was designed so that everything was happening simultaneously. The isolation really brings new appreciation to the attraction. The Magic Skyway disc includes previously unreleased background score from several Disney classics such as The Absent Minded Professor and Zorro which was used as environment music for these attractions. I highly recommend this set for all die-hard Disney fans! No Disney fan would regret this purchase!

What can I say but for the true Disneyana Fan this is pure perfection. I wanted my parents to take me to the New York Worlds Fair but being on the West Coast it never happened. Live near Disneyland so got to see the parts of the attractions they brought back, but my body tingled with joy as I listened to the CD's one after another. The music, narrations, stories in the hard copy in the booklet were all great.

A Classic For Any Disney Fan

A great collection of audio and music tracks from the 4 attractions Walt Disney built for the 1964 World's Fair (Progressland, "it's a small world", Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln, and The Magic Skyway). A bonus 5th disc includes an alternate version of the Carousel of Progress. The booklet included in the box has some incredible photos of the attractions as well as descriptions of each of the tracks on the disks. There are also a recording "outakes" track for the 4 attractions. My favorite is hearing Walt Disney narrate your trip on the Magic Skyway. Great stuff if you love Disney.

This set is AMAZING!

If you have any interest in attractions at Disney theme parks, this set is for you. Randy Thornton at Walt Disney Records has assembled not only complete atractions soundtracks and area music, but early recording sessions and demo versions of these classic Disney attractions. The concept and layout is by the late Bruce Gordon, author of "Disneyland: The Nickel Tour". The liner notes are a large format 24 page book, written by Stacia Martin. Stacia has worked in the Disney Archive for many years and has written several books for Disney. This one is brief but incredibly informative.

If I had any criticism at all, it's that perhaps Randy Thornton gives us a little too much. Progressland's wonderful material overflowed onto a second "bonus disk", and an entire disk is devoted to It's A Small World. I feel that It's A Small World could have shared half it's disk with Progressland's bonus disk. It's a triffling complaint. This set is everything you could ever want to hear from these classic attractions, and more. Over all, this collection is very satisfying.

No DRM issues here.

I read another post that this audio CD package has DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection prohibiting you from ripping the content with iTunes. I DID NOT have any problems ripping the content using iTunes. Like many people I no longer use CDs for audio playback, and need to rip CD for playback through iTunes and my iPod. So I was concerned when I read the previous post claiming this package had DRM protection. I really enjoy the audio tracks, and packaging - thanks Disney Imagineering! Let's hope there is more items like this for us vintage Disney attraction audio. I highly recommend this - if you're a fan, buy it!
