Great Collection, but the pictures of the product supposedly by the seller dont match the product I bought and got in the mail. I just got 5 cases wrapped together in a cardboard mailing box. I did not get the case that the pictures by the seller shows. There was also a bonus CD that was from 1976 and instead I got a CD of one hit wonders from the 70's. They are still all good music, they just dont match what the description was.

I bought this so called BOX SET as a christmas gift. Didn't get the thing til after new years, and to add insult to injury they came as lose CD's not in the box pictured. It made a crumby looking gift since I printed out a picture of the box and gave it because of the late delivery. I'll think twice before I order another so called BOX SET from amazon. Just for the hell of it, look up the ton of emails I sent you guys about the problems I had with this order. That will explain a lot. We love the music, the three stars is for amazon!

Product is fantastic but.... Buy only from a known and trusted seller, or make sure seller comments include "as pictured/described". At least one seller claimming new product (with no disclaimers) is delivering a cheaper, discontinued CD stack: no box or bonus and MSRP $30.00 less. That is a different product with a different UPC, different title (not "box set"), different picture and description. After a month of lies, Amazon took over and is investigating seller.

My 70s music explosion cd set came in it's original new shrinkwrapped box, no problems with the order or packaging. There are 5 double cd cases containing all 10 cds. A sixth cd was included covering the year 1976, this 1976 cd was originally released by a 1989 Time Life cd 70s set, but the remastering still sounds good for a 1989 release. Besides the packaging being great, this cd set has fine linear notes about the artists and the songs. The one thing I will say about this 70s Music Explosion cd set is the remastering of these selection of 1970s songs is incredible as well as pristine. Cheers to Time life for an awesome product. There are edits and missing songs. Time Life did the best they could to get every artist and song they could get under licencing agreement. Time Life despite the afore mentioned negatives have done an incredible job with this "70s Music Explosion" cd set.
Memories flood back to me with these 1970s songs, The Blackout 1977 in N.Y.C, Son Of Sam 1977, Disco, Winter Blizzard of N.Y.C. Feb. 1977-Feb.1978, The 4:30 Movie, The Pittsburgh Steelers, Jellies--womans shoes, Saturday Night Fever, Welcome Back Kotter, "Up your nose with a rubber hose!!!" HA HA HA HA. The memories are endless I could go on all day and night, Allright already, I will spare you and let you relive your own 1970s memories. Some of these songs may sound stupid to some, but to me I say one thing to the naysayers. "Come On it's the 1970s dude, the decade of stupidity". "Hey I admit it, this "70s Music Explosion" is definintly a guilty pleasure. I do recommend this cd set to anyone who was around or someone just discovering the music of the 1970s. Well thought out Package and cd set by the people at Time Life. Ah the 1970s were have you gone...........

Just received the "Box Set" purchased as a gift only problem is that instead of being in the cool box as pictured it was five CD jewel cases taped together with no box, not the most impressive thing for a gift. Just a caution if you want what is pictured that is not what you will receive. Otherwise, the CD's are as expected.

For all those who have searched for years for the lost tracks of IRON EAGLE especially: OLD ENOUGH TO ROCK n ROLL by Rainey Haynes, I have found it. I contacted Capitol records who referred me to Sony Pictures who then helped me track her down to a personal website:http://www.raineyonline.com/id17.html. Here you will find the song u can buy and all of her other music previously unreleased. She heard our plea for help and responded. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get ready to live out the Snake like Doug Master did but in your car!!!!!!!!! BUUUUYAAAAHHHHH!!!! I am definately old enough to rock and roll! Peace!

I found this cd to be very entertaining I thank AMAZON for letting me preview the songs before I purchase an album. AND I found Rainey Harlans song old enough to rock and roll! (the song played during the race w/ Notcher) [...] There are links to the left on her page, The song title is one of them. In it tells the story of how she (after weeks of searching) finally found them (the old analog tapes.) She is remixing them on to cd's And she is autographing every copy sold!! I'm buying two. Thanks Jimbo (Las Vegas) for giving me the song title and artist to google.

For those of you like me, who have been searching for this song since it came out, and now I have found it. The artist, Rainey Hanes, has a website where she has released the song "Old Enough to Rock & Roll". The story behind why the song has not been released earlier is interesting. Go to RaineyOnline.com and you can get your copy. I just ordered mine. Hope this was helpful.

This may just be the king of the 80's rock soundtracks. As good as the soundtracks for Over the Top, Navy Seals, and the Transformers were, none of them had quite as impressive a collection of tracks as Iron Eagle.

If the fact that it features an exclusive Dio song (Hide in the Rainbow) isn't enough for you, you also get songs by Queen, King Kobra, Helix, a pre-Mr. Big Eric Martin, and the Jon Butcher Axis. Even lesser known acts like Adrenalin and Urgent turn in quality material. The Katrina & the Waves and George Clinton offerings don't add much (from a rock perspective), but even they aren't too bad. It doesn't have all of the music featured in the movie, but what it does offer is pretty impressive (and besides, you can hear that Twisted Sister track on about a billion other albums).

If you make any claim at all to being a serious 80's rock fan, you must own this soundtrack. You don't even need to like the movie to enjoy this killer selection of melodic rock and metal from a decade when this kind of music ruled the radio.

THIS IS A PRETTY GOOD ENTRY IN THE ULTRA LOUNGE SERIES, BUT NOT ONE OF THE BEST. THIS ONE LITERALLY TAKES THE TERM "SPACE AGE BACHELOR PAD MUSIC" TO A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL, I GUESS, BUT ULTIMATELY FAILS TO DO THAT BECAUSE OF THE CHOICE OF MOST OF THE MATERIAL. YOU'RE THE TOP BY DEAN ELLIOTT AND HIS BAND (WHOEVER THAT IS)IS MY FAVORITE SONG, IT IS TRULY STRANGE, WITH THE MUSIC BLENDED IN WITH THE SOUNDS OF PHONES RINGING, COUGHING, AND OTHER BIZARRE SOUNDS (A LA SPIKE JONES). I LIKE THIS CD, BUT I COULD HAVE PROBABLY CHOSEN BETTER SONGS FOR THE THEME OF "SPACE CAPADES".

not quite what I was hoping for

I by no means consider myself an expert in the swingin,' sultry sounds of the space diaper-wearing set, but something about the theremin and silver sparkle beehive hairdos gets my pantal region quite toasty. And, wow, I think I just spied Bobby Womack! But, no, turns out it's just the Bobby Hammack Combo. At best, they've got Alex Van Halen on 360-degree xylophone, or as I like to call them, "bones."

Sorry, ladles and genuflections, but "Space Capades" strikes me as more tiki lounge than space age -- more "Bewitched" than, say, "My Favorite Martian." Les Baxter's rather bland "Calcutta" actually feels like a holiday number in praise of some totem pole character. Grab the voodoo nog and head for the pyre to singe some Carols! In his defense, Baxter absolves himself on the later Bernard Hermann-esque "Saturday Night on Saturn." Billy May's "This Room is My Castle of Quiet?" Apt title and snooze inducer. Tak Shindo's "Stumbling?" Another snoozer. Terry Snyder's "Puttin' on the Ritz?" Must you pester me?

Still, slip on your coconut-scented loafers, dial up a bamboo martini and head directly to the final cut, Dean Elliot's "Lonesome Road," worth the price to this time capsule all by itself. I would argue the track, recorded in 1962 and featured on Re/Search's "Incredibly Strange Music" collection, is an early, but by no means rudimentary, example of cut-and-paste hip-hop (think J Dilla).

This is just a fantastic CD for those of you who love campy 50's "space" music (which I do!). It's been the perfect background music for those evenings where it's finally time to sit and have a cocktail, while eating some mid-century style finger food.

I love the Ultra-Lounge series.

The sound quality of the Ultra-Lounge series is excellent, even though the songs were recorded mostly in the 50's and 60's. Capitol Records packs each CD with carefully chosen tracks consistent with the theme of the particular volume in the series. Many of the selections that appear here aren't available elsewhere, either because the original album on which the song appeared is out of print, or because the song was issued as a single and never collected in an album. A few 'previously unreleased' tracks also appear here. This series is a wonderful introduction to the music of a by-gone era, and each album includes detailed notes on each track (artist, writers, date recorded, how released, etc.). I heartily recommend it to anyone who has an interest in this type of music.

If you're a dance radio listener and want to pick up most of what you've heard in early '08, this collection will be a good start.

That being said, skip the MP3s if you listen to your music on anything more than small computer speakers. The tracks are definitely encoded at 256k, but you'd never notice if you compared them to a 96k or 128k file. Do yourself a favor - buy the CD and rip them yourself in iTunes, WinAMP, or any other encoder with better encoding options like VBR and a more aggressive method (Q=0). This is my first - and last - MP3 purchase at Amazon.

The compilation had a good dozen or so songs which are enjoyable to listen to, but some of the other fillers just took up space which other artists could fill. The remix of break my fall, wait for you, and freefall are my favorites. A good cd but there are other better Ultra Cds out

Wonderfully fun. To hear tango with very different instruments and rhythms awakens the senses!

My only complaint: Some of the selections at the very beginning are too similar. I was about to write it off as "all the same" when I was pulled into all-new realms of exploration.

The Four Seasons were the fourth biggest singles group of the sixties, only the Beatles, Supremes, and Beach Boys were bigger. When Frankie Valli went solo, it must have seemed like a no-brainer that he'd be a huge star. He started releasing singles in 1966 with some success -- including the lush, string-filled smash "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" (#2 in 1967). However, by 1969 his career had faded.

Fortunately, Frankie was one of a handful of sixties male acts whose careers were resurrected in the mid-seventies, along with Neil Sedaka and Paul Anka. Specifically, he hit with the gorgeous ballad "My Eyes Adored You" (#1 in 1975). He followed that hit up with several others, including the disco-fied "Swearin' to God" (#6 in 1975) and "Our Day Will Come" (#11 in 1975) a dance-tinged remake of the sixties hit by Ruby & the Romantics. In addition, he had the biggest hit of his career with the title song from the movie adaptation of "Grease" (#1 for 2 weeks in 1978).

All of these songs are on "Greatest Hits," as well as two moderate hits -- "To Give (The Reason I Live) (#29 in 1968) and "You're Gonna Hurt Yourself" (#39 in 1966). The only miss is "Soul," which sounds like an early, cheesier version of "Fame."

I love Frankie Valli's falsetto, and many of these hits use his gorgeous vocals to magical effect. However, this collection could have benefitted from being organized chronologically, as his sixties hits sound extremely different from his mid-seventies singles. Listening to the danceable seventies music and then jumping back to a melodramatic sixties hit is a bit jarring. Frankie really had two careers, and this CD should have reflected that more explicitly. Also, the liner notes are sparse, with only writing and publishing credits listed for each song. The music is great, but the collection could have been a tad better.

Frankie Valli had a marvelous falsetto and his talent led him to a successful solo career after he worked with The Four Seasons. This is an album of some of Frankie's greatest hits.

"Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" is a `60s ballad that made girls swoon--I wonder why! LOL Frankie never sounded better and his voice is quite strong. The musical arrangement goes along with his vocals perfectly and overall "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" is quite a strong start for this album.

"My Eyes Adored You" always brings back memories of my former one true love; Frankie sings this so sweetly with all his heart and soul. I love this tender and touching ballad and I predict you will enjoy it, too. "Swearin' To God" is a more optimistic, joyful number as Frankie celebrates his one true love. The female backup chorus sounds great and Frankie never hits a bad note. "Swearin' To God" is truly one of Frankie Valli's greatest hits--ever.

"Grease" is from the show of the same name; and this funky `70s beat still sounds awesome today! I like the musical effects and Frankie performs this with an awful lot of style. I really like "Grease."

"Our Day Will Come" features Frankie at his best; and the `70s melody remains catchy, upbeat and pleasing to the ear. "Our Day Will Come" showcases Frankie's vocals squarely in the spotlight but the backup vocalists do a great job, too.

"The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" again proves Frankie Valli is a grand king of pop vocalists from the entire twentieth century. Great!

As another reviewer notes, the liner notes ARE sparse! We get the song credits but little else. I do like the picture of Frankie on the front cover of the artwork, however.

I have two complaints about this CD. First, the album really should have another song or two. A track list of ten songs is a bit too brief for my tastes. Second, other reviewers say that they should have presented the songs in chronological order; and I agree with them. It can be a bit jarring to listen to one song from the 1960s and then jump into a totally different style that Frankie may have used in the 1970s. Ouch! I will have to take off one and one-half stars to make this a three and one-half star review.

Frankie Valli will always be a giant amongst giants of the entertainment industry. This album does him some justice but as I noted just above there are two flaws with this album. Nevertheless, staunch Frankie Valli fans may choose to have this in their collections anyway.

My Eyes adored you is my cut from him.can't take my eyes off you is still a smooth jam as well.of course "Grease" which the Bee Gees wrote&you get there trademark production which matches Frankie's Falsetto on point.this is a really good collection.

A Better Idea...

Although the first 5 tracks are classic songs that are a delight to hear, the other five are nothing special. If you really like Frankie's music it would be a much better investment to purchase the album titled "Very Best of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons." For just a couple dollars more you'll get all the favorites this album offers plus many he did with the Four Seasons (think: Walk Like a Man, Big Girls Don't Cry, etc). That one is a five star, but this one only gets three.

After a string of hits with The 4 Seasons, Frankie Valli decided it was time to try his hand at a solo career. The result was a long line of chart hits, 2 of which made the top spot, 3 additional top 10 hits and several more that made the top 30.

Beginning with the number one hit "My Eyes Adored You", "Frankie Valli: Greatest Hits" is off to a flying start. Any album that can boast "My Eyes Adored You", "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", "Swearin' To God" and "Grease" as its lead - off tracks is well worth your money. But it's the remaining 5 tracks that go deeper into Valli's legacy. I especially enjoyed "Soul" and the haunting "To Give (The Reason I Live)". But my favorite was his electrifying rendition of Ruby And The Romantics' "Our Day Will Come". Also worth checking out are "Your Gonna Hurt Yourself and "You're Ready Now".

I highly recommend this cd to fans of Valli and/or The Four Seasons. While there are collections with both his solo hits and Four Seasons hits, this one is cheaper and just as enjoyable. Also recommendes: "The 20 Greatest Hits Of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons Live".

This CD contains the most erotic, relaxing, mind tripping if you will music I have ever heard. It will certainly mean a lot of different things for a lot of people, which will in turn, make a lot of people feel a lot of different things.. I am taking a tribal belly dancing class and bought it for one song in particular...had no idea every single song would be great. A rare find and a fabulous deal. You will NOT be disappointed.

Imagine if the East and the West got together and had a love child, and that the love child embodied all that is great from both cultures. Now imagine that love child compiled an album. This would be that album. Enjoy.

I have the first two albums in the Tantra Lounge series, and found that they seem to lack something. I could never define what, but I wound up not really listening to them.

This one is completely different. Whatever they were missing, they found it. From the moment I heard the sample of "The Baghdad Groove" I knew I had to buy it. I went on to discover more gems like "Beauty and the East", "Ohm", and "Mystic Caravan". Of course it also never hurts to include some of my favorite artists (Thievery Corporation and Natacha Atlas).

Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised with this album. The only songs I'm not immediately in love with are "Raga" and "Flight 828", but that's just personal taste. I hope they continue choosing songs of this quality for future compilations!

Bill Engvall hosts this show and says he might be out of a job now that these guys are around. Your job is very, very safe Bill. Aside from Reno Collier, the last comic on this DVD there is not a lot of good comedy here. In a few years, most of these guys will still be the middle act in a club somewhere.

I was prepared to cry while watching this video, since it's a memorial service, but I was pleasantly surprised to find myself laughing as well. The "flub" clips and the like were welcome reminders of the other side of Steve--the fun-loving practical joker, and other clips showed the passionate Wildlife Warrior. The interviews included on the DVD were an unexpected bonus that answered a lot of questions for me.

A worthy tribute

I ordered and received 2 dvd copies of Steve Irwin's Memorial Tribute. One was a gift to my best friend and the other for my household. I played my dvd and part way through, it stalled. There's an error on the disc but since it's opened, I can't return it. I haven't played it since, although I would love to. So -- missing more of Steve is appropriate.

So glad this is on DVD!

We don't have cable/satellite so I didn't get to see this on TV. I was so happy to find this at Netflix. This is such a special opportunity to get to be a part of such a touching memorial of a one-of-a-kind man. There will never be another like him. He really did change our world. The great thing about this service is that, although you will cry, it isn't all heavy and depressing, there are plenty of laughs to be had too, as some of Steve's friends share funny stories about him, and some of the more humorous TV clips of Steve are played. My favorite part was when Steve's daughter Bindi delivered her speech about life with her dad. What a wonderful little girl she is, no wonder Steve was so proud of her! My *least* favorite part of this DVD were the blips featuring American celebrities...I cringed every time one came on. (Cameron Diaz? Justin Timberlake? Kevin Costner? Steve Harvey? I seriously doubt these people made much of a difference in Steve's life.) Steve's wife Terri was so visibly devestated and that was soooo sad. She truly has lost the love of her life, and the animals have lost their best friend.

P.S. Don't miss the "Interview" in the special features.

When you bifurcate btwn this volume and it's predecessor set, Ultra Trance Vol. 7, Vol. 8 is head-and-shoulders above anything i've purchased as of late. Remarkably, Disc 2 was a pleasant surprise and found it arguably superior to Disc 1! I was initially reticent to buy this set; but now certainly happy I picked this up. UT v8 is seemingly reminiscent of some of the greatest mixes to date. Unfortunately, the music samples do not afford listeners w/ the author's obvious unrelenting effort to compile two full disks of coterminous music from start to finish. Why anyone would not appreciate this volume would leave me simply quizzical. I now feel compelled to pick up v10!

Horrible.

I used to collect the Ultra releases, Dance, Trance and Chilled.

This is the worst one I have heard so far, catchy tunes and then the most random s*** I have heard of on the second one, with exception to the only song I consider trance is Above & Beyond's track.

So don't buy it thinking your in for some good trance, I only picked it up because I wanted to hear some new stuff.

But I guess if you like Cascada, random distorted bass, then this compilation totally caters to your desires.
