1) the Choo-Choo soul songs on this CD are not on the Choo Choo Soul [CD/DVD], so it can only add to your collection
2) we only own Juice Box Heroes, and not the other CDs by Imagination Movers, but Puppy Dog and Kick It were new to us (aside from watching the episodes on TV)
3) the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse tracks can also be found on Here Come the 123s as well as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
4) includes songs from the "between" shows like Happy Monster Band, and Ooh and Aah, which is completely awesome!!
5) other shows include Handy Manny, Bunnytown, My Friends Tigger & Pooh, Johnny and the Sprites, and Special Agent Oso
This is my son's new favorite out of all the children's CDs that we have because it includes the theme songs from ten different Disney shows, and this is the first time I've come across a mix like this. (I would love it if Disney would make a DVD compilation with the same show selections -- kind of like Nick Jr.'s All About Fall or Sleepytime Stories)
We play this in the car, whether it's errands or a road trip. We play this at home too...an easy way to keep the TV turned off, and get other things done.
I wrote a listmania list of children's music (you can find it through my profile), if you want to see what I am comparing this CD to...needless to say, the whole family enjoys this CD.

Rock & Roll in 1969 course number 101--even if they were limited to ten songsReviewer ID:
Review Date: 2006-08-13
Another reviewer writes that Tommy James & The Shondells shouldn't have been picked twice since there was only room for ten songs on this CD. I think he has a good point; but I liked both "Crimson And Clover" and "Crystal Blue Persuasion" anyway. They are somewhat laid back, quasi-psychedelic songs that you can still hear occasionally on certain radio stations playing '60s music.
There are several different types of songs on this CD; and that's really a great plus! "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" has an awesome beat and is still sometimes played at sports events. "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies represents that bubblegum type of '60s song that is very catchy even if it's not the greatest music ever written. "Build Me Up Buttercup" has a terrific, almost triumphant sounding musical arrangement this is completely infectious; and "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In" has a certain dramatic element to it that starts the CD off on a very strong note.
In short, if you have to pick just one CD to cover the year 1969, this is a great choice. It's not as comprehensive as I would like it to be because Rhino limited the "Billboard Rock & Roll" series to ten songs each. I recommend this CD for fans of music from the late '60s and people who just want to know a little bit more about some of the great hits put out in 1969.

I first heard of the Celtic Woman from a PBS broadcast the Celtic Woman - A New Journey. I became captivated by their voices and smooth style of singing. All five woman are incredible performers. The four vocalists, Chloe, Lisa, Meav and Orla are beautiful to listen to as they are to watch. Even when they sing in Gaelic the pure quality of their voices are breathtaking. Mairead, the fiddler, never speaks, but you will delight your senses as she glides around the stage playing her fiddle. This DVD concert is beautifully produced with a good selection of songs that highlight their powerful voices and personal styles. All the music has a Celtic quality even when the song is not of Celtic origin. It's a very upbeat and happy DVD which I hoped would never end. I originally purchased the Celtic Woman - A New Journey and was so mesmerized by their performances I just had to have more and this DVD was perfect. I found behind the scenes very interesting learning more about these woman and their background. You'll not be disappointed.

While some scenarios feature the actors going through routines to show that anything is possible (and remember, Marlo Thomas posing as a construction worker was practically radical back in 1974), other scenarios are animated. The animation isn't always the greatest, but it's more than adequate and it helps to impart a meaningful message anyway. For example, in one animated scenario we meet a King's daughter named Atalanta. She doesn't feel so sure that she wants to get married despite the fact that her father the King (the symbol of authority and what society expects for a young woman) wants her to get married right away. When there is a contest to see who can win the right to marry Atalanta, she meets her match in a young man named John from the village. John and Atalanta come in tied for first place; and John is wise enough to know that Atalanta has to want to marry him and that she cannot be forced to marry simply because that's what other people in society expect for a young woman to do.
Another wonderful animated scenario concerns a young boy named Dudley Pippin. Dudley is accused by his teacher of spilling paint all over the floor at school. Although Dudley denies it, his teacher doesn't believe him and makes him clean up the mess long after all the other children have gone home. Dudley then goes home--but on his way home he meets the principal who tells Dudley that it's OK to cry about being so misunderstood by his teacher. This animated segment leads straight into the very famous (well, it was very famous at the time) segment in which the ultra-macho football star Rosey Grier sings "It's All Right To Cry" while playing the guitar. "It's All Right To Cry" is very masterfully done and Rosey doesn't falter one bit.
In general, the other segments teach children that it's OK to be in touch with their feelings about friends, siblings and their parents. There's even a segment on the importance of letting a young boy have a doll--so that he can see what it's like to be a father when he grows up to have his own children.
Overall, Free To Be You And Me doesn't lack much. The quality of the print could have been cleaned up somewhat; but it's all so good that this is really minor. I highly recommend this film for children to watch; it might also stimulate some meaningful conversation between parents and their children, too.

These stories and songs influenced me, opened the world to me, and they do the same for my young daughters. I remembered every word from my own childhood and sharing this with my daughters is emotional, special, and worthwhile.
Anyone who says female empowerment is no longer necessary is (1) not female; and (2) doesn't have daughters.
I credit these lessons with my sense of social justice and I hope my daughters develop this as well.

Here we have a very talented young songwriter, who simply did a wonderful job. The easyness of the songs plus the simplicity of the lyrics make it a treat to listen to that particular soundtrack.
Sondre Lerche uses lots of musical surprises and nice easy-to-remember melodies. It is something you can have playing in the back of your everyday life.

fine single CD retrospective--especially for the more casual fanReviewer ID:
Review Date: 2009-04-17
The CD begins with The Buggles performing a great hit entitled "Video Killed the Radio Star." "Video Killed the Radio Star" got played so much on the radio I knew all the lyrics by heart! This tune has a fine musical arrangement that The Buggles do this one up right. In addition, "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" by The Eurythmics was just one of their best tunes; The Eurythmics never sounded better and that strong percussion marks the beat along with the drums. They sing this pretty well, too! I love it; and this was played in all the clubs back in the day. I don't think Wang Chung got enough true respect for their "Everybody Have Fun Tonight;" it's quite a strong number and Wang Chung really showed they had a lot of talent.
There's also the hit "One Thing Leads To Another" by The Fixx; and listen for "Something About You" by Level 42. Level 42 really shines on this tune; "Something About You" was and remains a big hit for them and they do this one with a lot of class. Culture Club got a lot of mileage from "Karma Chameleon" and they deserved every bit of the attention and airplay that they got for this tune. "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" keeps Tears For Fears squarely in the spotlight which was right where they always belonged--awesome! In addition, I really like "Higher Love" by the wonderful Steve Winwood; Steve really sings this one straight out of the ballpark and he remains a music icon to this day.
"Addicted To Love" by Robert Palmer is another song that features the talents of a very accomplished artist; you're bound to enjoy "Addicted To Love." The guitars, percussion and drums combine to form the basis of a strong musical arrangement--but wisely they never steal the show away from Robert; he stays in the spotlight and that's quite all right by me! Dexys Midnight Runners do their wonderful "Come On Eileen;" I remember hearing this on the radio and rushing out to the record store to buy the LP single of this number so I could listen anytime I wanted to hear it! The Stray Cats do a magnificent job on "Rock This Town;" they use the music to complement their vocals perfectly.
Madness plays and sings "Our House" which always makes me think of my childhood home--it's THAT good. This tune will bring back memories and Madness harmonizes really well on the chorus for this classic 80's tune! The CD even ends strong with Squeeze playing "Tempted." "Tempted" was one of their biggest hits ever and they still rank high in my book. They play this to perfection, too.
Overall, Pure 80's is a great CD that I heartily recommend to people who like music from the 1980s. Truthfully, though, it is probably best suited for the newcomer who doesn't yet have these hits in their music collection; but it could be a nice addition for the more diehard fan as well. If you truly want an in-depth look at 80's music, however, I would recommend a box set of this genre of music.
