The songs are good, the Tesla sound is there, I'm glad that they are still putting out good music unlike some bands that started in the eighties. I would say this is not quite as good as some of their records from their heyday.

Into the Now is the best album Tesla has made. They aren't trying to re-hash the 80's, they aren't trying to copy other successfull acts from the 2000's, they're just playing straight ahead rock n' roll.
Innovative, fresh and invigorating every song works. Predictably Keith has lost some of the range he had 20 years ago but he still pulls you into each song. Although it's been 10 years since their last studio album the musicianship has only improved. Each song has depth and layers that other bands only wish they could produce. The stuff they do with only guitars is amazing.
Rockers like 'Recognize', 'Into the Now', 'Look @ Me', 'Miles Away' and 'Got No Glory' are top notch. Even the quirky 'Mighty Mouse' (yes the cartoon Mighty Mouse) rocks your socks off.
True to form even the slower songs 'Words Can't Explain' and 'Cuaght In a Dream' aren't sticky sweet but they do make you pause and think about life.
Honestly I was mildly surprised with this album as previous Tesla records have routinely had "filler" songs. Not so here. Each song is an acoustic adventure. Enjoy the ride.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS ALBUM!!!!

Avid Tesla fan here, but I must admit I was not a huge fan of "Bust A Nut". So I was a little skeptical 10 years later with "Into the Now". In fact it took a year or so to buy the thing. I then found out shortly I was dead wrong!!! This one rocks, big time. After having it for a while now, it is still my favorite Tesla album hands down. And I love the other ones! Since there is no radio play to warm these songs up, they take a while to get a hold of you, but then they do, and they don't let go! Killer licks and lyrics, through and through. The opening guitar torrents on "Recognize" are nothing short of astounding. "Heaven 9/11" is awesome and would have hit the charts hard if it had ever gotten air time. That is a theme with this record; the songs are so diverse and good, you find yourself wondering how this album did not make it onto the airwaves and win tons of awards. I guess that makes it all the more special, such a hidden gem. My thirteen year old daughter even started listening, and now has her own CD. That says alot, let me tell you, with the Rap and HipHop that normally hits her ears. There's hope for youth yet, and it starts with TESLA!!!!!!

For me, this ablum summed up all that was still in this band. That they still had something to say and wanted it be the "Tesla" way. They did a great job on this ablum and so this being their last album, I would want it my collection to show all the greatness they had to offer us!!

Great comeback cd!!!

If "The Last Sucker" is indeed Ministry's swan song, what a way to go. Al Jourgenson, one of the pioneers of industrial/metal, has always been socially conscious, and especially loathing of organized religion ("Psalm 69") and the Bush era, both senior and junior.
Not that the evil deeds of W. aren't worth this scathing wrath Jourgenson delivers. Without trying to get too political myself, which, given the last three Ministry's lyrical contents is not easy, it's a glorious insightful exercise of the 1st Amendment, set to punishing brutal riffs and samples that make your skin crawl, since many of those are from the Bush man himself.
What makes latter day Ministry particularly powerful is the inclusion of Prong genius Tommy Victor as a full musical writing partner and guitarist extraordinaire. Few can pummel your cranium into soggy grits like Victor can, and his attack is as brutal as the crimes Jourgenson laments on "The Last Sucker".
Favorite cuts include the title track, the Cheney slam piece "The Dick Song", which is funnier than hell, and the closer "End Of Days Pts. 1 and 2". What makes these interesting is the inclusion of the prophetic and chilling final speech Dwight Eisenhower gave on national television before turning the office over to JFK. In it, Eisenhower warned the public of the danger he saw emerging of the military industrial complex getting mixed up with profiteering and tipping the balance between rightful defense needs and outright military corruption. Talk about hitting the nail on the head.
We should thank Jourgenson for including all of that speech as an album closer, as he obviously wants to share a chilling moment in history with his listeners, and good for him for trying to educate us.
But whether you agree with his politics or not, it's great for the music, too. Prong and Ministry are a match made in metal heaven, or hell, whichever they prefer.

The end of the Bush trilogy concludes with another solid release that is top notch from start to finish.

It's amazing how a band like Ministry can produce such a quality thrash album, when their discography is so diverse that it delves into such genres as sludge metal, synth pop, prog rock, and industrial metal. Bands like Sodom and Destruction, who are strictly thrash bands, haven't released an album that is anywhere near as good as this one.

Ministry is one of the few bands that can release albums that are almost entirely free of filler, and this album is no exception.

Let's Go continues the trend of album openers that are not only heavy, but extremely catchy. This song is quite possibly one of Ministry's best. This album is bookended with the instant classic that is End of Days 2, which includes a sample from Eisenhowser's Military-Industrial Complex speech.

In between, there are such choice cuts as Watch Yourself, Death and Destruction, End of Days 1, and No Glory.

Tommy Victor of Prong once again delivers catchy riff after catchy riff.

For those who did not enjoy Houses of the Mole or Rio Grande Blood will not enjoy this. The lyrics on this album are similar to the previous albums, but for me, the quality of the song writing trumps the message from the highly controversial Bush trilogy.

Ministry concludes their amazing career with another gem, and leaves you wanting more.

In 1992 when Psalm69 was out, Ministry was one of my favorite bands. I loved that album and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing due to their unique brand of industri-thrashmetal. Really a sound Ministry created and defined for themselves. Or I should say Al created and defined. Anyway, Filth Pig didn't live up to the high standards set by its predecessors, and then Ministry kind of faded off the map for me as Al's addiction took more control over of his musical output. After reading some reviews here on Amazon and longing for something in the league of Psalm69 I bought the latest (and last?) Ministry CD, The Last Sucker. I was pleasantly SHOCKED by the return to form of the classic Ministry of old. This album ROCKS and I don't think there is a bad song on here (even Psalm69 has a few clunkers near the end). The Last Sucker is packed with aggression, speed, and killer riffs and rhythms. Perhaps Al overdoes the anti-GWB thing a little in dedicating three entire albums to his personal arch enemy, but when the songs are this good it doesn't matter to me. Hey I'm no fan of Bush so slamming him doesn't offend me anyway. It's the music that stands out for me on this disc. If you haven't heard Ministry in a while and want to pick up something post-1992 I suggest this one, because it's excellent. I even enjoy the thrashed-out version of Roadhouse Blues. While I don't skip any songs on this entire CD, my favorites include: Lets Go, Watch Yourself, No Glory, Death and Destruction, Die In A Crash, and End of Days (parts one and two).

In my opinion this is a better album than Rio Grande Blood, which for some reason most people seem to like a bit more. I think this is a little more diverse than Rio Grande while still keeping the industrial/thrash sound they are known for. The beats-per-mintute are toned down just a bit, but there are more layers to the music-weaving guitars, layered samples ans some really interesting drum programming. There is an appearance from Burton C. Bell (from Fear Factory) on a couple of the later tracks, and even a cover of the Doors song "Roadhouse Blues". Sadly this is supposed to be Ministrys' last album but I'm not sure if I believe that (or want to). Highly recommended.

The Good
"Let's Go" leads the charge with galloping riffage and equally as powerful vocals. Heavy guitars and a furious Al Jourgensen stomp a mud hole of anger into "Watch Yourself." Jourgensen unleashed more fury and hatred on the politically charged track "The Dick Song." Meaty riffs and chugga-chugga riffs back up snarling vocals on "The Last Sucker." "No Glory" fires off at you and furious heavy metal break-neck speed. A cover of The Doors "Roadhouse Blues" seems a little out of place with the rest of the music, but does fit it lyrically with the albums overall theme. It's certainly more interesting than the original. Ministry closes out with the multi-tempoed epic "End of Days."

The Bad
This has been labeled the last Ministry album.

The Verdict
There's no denying that Ministry is making a strong statement against our current government and political actions as a nation under George Bush. With The Last Sucker Jourgensen makes his opinions clear with anger, fury, and thunderous guitars. I have listened to Ministry in the past, and I wasn't really impressed. However, The Last Sucker opened my eyes and touched my metal soul. Powerful, strong, and to the point.

I gave this 3 1/2 stars, not because I think Kiss is so great, but because this is the best compilation of all of their music that matters. It has all of their 70's classic rockers and some of their 80s pop.

If you don't own any Kiss, this is ALL you need, trust me. Anything after 82 was just..........well let's just say other people did it better............stay far away from Psycho Cirus

This two disc set sees KISS as legitimate musicians, which they were trying to do since 1979 with the Dyanasty album. Shandi is a big one here, showing the band's ability to write pop oriented music, and I Was Made for Loving You just as good as any other disco hit of that era. Also showcased here is their early stuff which can be criticized as too soft for their over the top look and image. This is a good disc to quit obsessed tendancies with this band KISS, as it offers a good sample of their musical sound to the early 80s. I like it.

I give this DVD 5 stars because it shows the humble beginings to the awkward incline to the top. It emcompasses all that with interviews(not with all the band unfortunately), videos and stage performance. Not too many people get what I get out of this band, which is too bad for them. These guys are incredible, period. Looking for songs that will motivate, create passion, create deep thoughts, or just plain ROCK OUT TO. Its one stop all the way here. You get Silent Lucidity, The Thin Line, Best I Can, Eyes Of A Stranger. The only gripes is that they didn't expand on the material since the VHS version. They should have included more extras, interviews and maybe videos expanding into the Hear in the Now Frontier(which I do enjoy!)-IF THEY MADE ANY VIDEOS, you wouldn't know it from the crap MTV/VH1 forces down everyones gullets now daze. As you can tell, I really love these guys. I am from Seattle and if you ask me, they gave birth to the Seattle music scene explosion. But I guess the corporate music puppitiers thought it would be easier to "control" herion addicts like Curt Cobain and Courtney Love than to promote a band with real talent AND with something to say... Think about it people-KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN !

Today Queensryche is looked at as one of the pioneers of progressive metal. The band burst on to the scene with this EP in 1983. I remember first hearing "Queen Of The Reich" on a late night radio program and it immediately caught my attention. There were other bands doing similar material, but there was something about these guys that separated them from the pack. Geoff Tate's soaring vocals and Chris Degarmo and Michael Wilton's twin shredding guitars really hooked me. The other standout track on this CD is "The Lady Wore Black" which would be a forbearer of the more progressive metal oriented direction this band would carve in the future.

Back in 1983, a very unknown Queensryche would release a four song EP, simply entitled "Queensryce" The album, released twenty five years ago, has still not lost its edge, and even though they have been classified as Power Metal or Hair Metal even in their glory days, this album is far from it. Its raw and dismal, every song completly grabs you by the neck, and even though its not as edgy as early releases from Slayer, Venom, and Metallica (all who recorded albums in the same year) it doesnt mean that it isnt pure Heavy Metal. Its just not Thrash or Black Metal, but to hear it would be to compare it to the early days of Judas Priest (pre-"British Steel" or Iron Maiden (pre "Seventh Son of the Seventh Son")All four songs on the orginal release are here, and the Bonus Track "Prophecy" would be included on the re-release in 1988. They have included some Live Tracks on this version also, which also are good, but the first four songs off the original, are worth the price of admission alone. I was very disspointed to hear that this album was going to be remastered. Back in 1988 the bands states "WE toyed with the idea of re-mixing the songs but quickly decided to leave it exactly how we recorded it" The orginal songs were recorded in some cheapo studio (probely a garage) during graveyard hours. NOW, with this said, some things are better left alone. Even though I love re-mastering, there is a danger of over-mixing, or fiddling around with stuff so much, that the songs actually lose some of the orginal feel. Since the album is so raw and really was recorded as a demo, its that raw energy that also gives this album some great feel. Not to worry. I checked out the re-mastered versions. You can thank Queensryche for not taking away the from the orginal versions. The only thing that sounds like it was tweaked was Geoff's vocals were brought up a bit in volume, and some of the hiss that was in the background was cleared up. A great album and a great job re-mastering. ENJOY

After discovering 'Prophesy' was supposed to be on this album, I bought it at the first opportunity. Before, I knew I liked 'Queen of the Reich', 'Lady wore Black', and then I discovered 'Prophesy.' Those are three out of five original songs on this album(back then, they were these large black plastic 'albums'!LoL) that rock the hell out of most bands even before Queensryche's later stuff. But, then I gave blinded and nightrider third chances; i had already determined they were at least worth listening to if you were 'in the mood.' But now, I'm just amazed at those songs as much as the 'big' three! This album just on those songs is equal if not better than anything from any other rock band; this album is better than anything metallica has ever put together!

The Warning in my opinion outside of the obvious two songs 'Take Hold of the Flame(one of the great songs of our times and important to any queensryche fan), and 'Roads to Madness', is the band trying to find another way of playing this music they found in a new way. Warning has some moments of hope for the 'Warning' album, but the rest of the songs continue to fall short(I've been listening to queensryche since getting 'Operation Mindcrime' on cassette; yes, I still have it on cassette); the band didn't figure out how to take their musical sound to another level till 'Rage for Order.' Some people consider 'Warning' a continuation of this first effort of theirs, but like I explain, they were really trying to find their way out of it; good thing they did, because as I've just listened to 'Tribe' and 'Hear in the Now Frontier' after listening to 'Operation Mindcrime 11', Queensryche is probably my favorite band for 'intelligent' music; deep music that requires a musical sense and some concentration to like it.

I started listening to Priest again after many years of not doing so, growing up in the early and mid-80's, I was as big a fan of them as any from Junior High School to about my Junior year.

I've longed to have all the old videos on DVD that I could watch any time, and never bothered to look into it, until I saw this for $13 and my eyes almost popped out when I saw the entire Priest...Live! concert was also on this. I loved that live album in the 80's and to have both that great concert and 13 videos is a great deal, despite video quality concerns, for the price.

The sound, at least, is in 5.1, but yes the video quality doesn't really look cleaned up or polished, but yet it is DVD quality and very passable, and will have to do, can't complain too much.

I can't WAIT to throw this on the Plasma TV and 5.1 system, throw down a few beers like old times, and annoy my girlfriend by rocking out with some old school Priest.

I'm not a huge fan of the Turbo album and anything beyond that, but there's enough pre-Turbo material on here to make it a must-have.

Thanks Priest, you are still the kings of old school Metal!

If you love bands like Pink Cream 69, Harem Scarem, and Jaded Heart, then this is an absolute must have!

my wish is and always was to hear more great music from those artist that i love and have listened to over the years. ive been listening to tony sing since t.n.t.- tell no tales. a long ago co-worker turned me on to them and ive been hooked since. fast forward to now - starbreaker tonys current band. and of course after four great westworld releases he grants me another wish with the first starbreaker cd and grants yet another with "loves dying wish". this second effort from starbreaker is an amazing collection of hard rock tunes that i know will not dissapoint long time tony harnell or starbreaker fans. i waited about a month before reviewing this cd so i could at least be subjective based on familiarity. in beginning, i wouldnt say this cd picks up where the last one left off. rather it goes off in a more distinct, subtler direction. i found the first starbreaker album a bit dream theater-ish with its mid-aggressive tempos and its progressively stylized song structures. (i love and still frequently listen to it.)the frenetic bass drumming and frenzied guitar and bass playing provided a perfect and complimentary backdrop to tonys commanding vocals. loves dying wish, upon first listening, may seem to shun that very successful formula, but with repeated listenings the richness of the songs begin to unfold. i found that these songs were every bit as heavy and complex as the first cd but they are crafted in such a way as to draw you into the music over time, subliminally, emotionally. the adrenal glands arent activated immediately, that comes later when you realize, wow this cd is so awesome. i cant wait to hear it again. you press play and theres your rush. the sound of tonys voice in unison with these intoxicating melodies holds one in a powerful and seductive spell. the bands performance here is majical. the recording perfect. john macalusos drumming is as great as anything ive heard him play on before. (tnt and riot) magnus guitar playing although seemingly more subdued on this cd is actually better, heavier, faster. i realize this seems a contradictory statement, but i cant describe it any other way. new bassist jonni lighfoot turns in a very respectable performance, but im not so sure hes quite the virtuoso that fabrizio grossi was/is. i mean im still hearing ridiculous bass passages from the first cd that i missed the first hundred go-rounds. i wont go into song descriptions other than to say i love them all. as i write this passage tony has sung the final soaring note of evaporate. outstanding. now the title track with its haunting chorus and somber lyrics. i can listen to this cd over and over again. in conclusion, music this enjoyable to my ear is a very appreciated treat. thanks to tony and the band for a five star plus release and of course a wish fulfilled.

Former TNT vocalist, Tony Harnell, is back with the long overdue second release from Starbreaker. This is a guitar heavy album but Tony is ever present, as always. European musicians always seem to get the mix right with hard rock and CDs like this really make you pump your fist.

Yes! They're back!

As much as I loved the first Starbreaker album, I honestly never expected to see another one. It seemed like a one-off project, and guitarist/songwriter Magnus Karlsson is pretty busy with Primal Fear, Allen/Lande, Planet Alliance, and several other projects. Fortunately the metal gods smiled on us all and brought Karlsson and former TNT vocalist Tony Harnell (plus former Ark drummer John Macaluso and producer extraordinaire Tommy Hansen) together for another album - 2008's Love's Dying Wish.

The songwriting on Love's Dying Wish may be better than the first Starbreaker album. Harnell and Karlsson make a great team, and the resulting songs combine the hard hitting hooks and killer melodies Karlsson is so well known for with some uncharacteristically dark lyrics (Harnell's work, I'm guessing). The album just sounds more mature and radio ready (not that that will ever happen, but still) than you usually find in this genre.

Karlsson's guitar work is first class as usual, and Tony Harnell deliver's an awesome vocal performance, full of power and emotion. Nobody really sounds like Tony Harnell, no matter how hard they try (cough*Tony Mills*cough). My favorite songs on Love's Dying Wish are "Evaporate", "The Day Belongs to Us", "Beautiful Disaster" and the title track, but there isn't anything on the album that I'd call filler. The whole album really works, and feels more like the work of a committed band than that of individual players doing their own thing. I'd love to see these guys hit the road and play some of these songs live.

Love's Dying Wish is one of the year's absolute best melodic hard rock releases. If you liked the first Starbreaker album, you should enjoy Love's Dying Wish as well. It's a must have for just about any fan of the genre, and those who follow Pink Cream 69, Jorn Lande, and Pretty Maids should absolutely love it.

After "The Blessed Hellride," Spifire Records wanted Zakk to put out another album of the same kind of rock that all BLS fans had become accustomed to. One problem with that idea was that Zakk wasn't having it. He wanted to do something different and that's exactly what he did.

"Hangover Music Vol. VI" is a pseudo-acoustic affair. It's got fifteen tracks. They're all good including a song called "Layne," which is a tribute to Alice In Chains' fallen singer. "Crazy or High" is also a solid track & it leads off the album. The only hang-up I have is that most of these tracks are slightly-amped. For my tastes, Zakk is at his best when he is either tearing up his electric guitar and pummeling his audience with riff after amazing riff or it's when he's strictly on an acoustic & churning out songs such as "Spoke in the Wheel," "Like A Bird" and 'Lost Heaven." I would've loved a full album of tracks just like that because I favor them over these slightly-amped/pseudo-acoustic numbers. But, once again, the man does deliver & there's plenty of good material on this disc. BLS fans will want this in their collection &, at the end of the day, that's what matters most.

I see some people are complaining that isn't a metal album.....well it says right in the title.."Hangover Music." When your head is throbbing from a long night of Crown & Tequilla, the last thing you're gonna want to listen to is some hard n' heavy riffs. This is a pretty laid back album, has a southernish blues/country feel to it at times. Something to put it when you're tryin to kick back & relax. Pick this 1 up

Mr. Wylde has produced a simple, beautiful, understated album that reveals his true talent. I came across this one by mistake, and it was my first Zakk purchase! Well, it really set me up for becoming a fan. This album, even after hearing his work with BLS and Ozzy, is still my fave. As a rock fan and a burgeoning rock guitarist, this album is awesome. Granted, it is for the mellow times. But you MUST hear the beautiful, soulful guitar work on Won't Find it There and the devastatingly accurate flamenco-inspired 40 second song Takillya (Estyabon). This man is a fabulous guitarist, and on this album he shows his true colors, his blue moods, with the amps turned down.

I read a Guitar One magazine interview when this was released that Mr.Wylde wanted the listener to know how he feels when the show is over, what's goin' on in his head on the bus in the morning, something the listener could relate to in a soulful way. Well, mr. Wylde, you nailed it. This album, from beginning to end (including a moving cover of Whiter Shade of Pale), is a beautiful composition to enjoy on a nice drive, with a cup of coffee in the morning, or especially late at night when everyone's asleep and you need to find yourself alone and mellow. Enjoy this masterpiece. Personally, I still can't believe it's the same guy that produced those searing shredding heavy metal tones with Ozzy and on albums like Sonic Brew and Alcohol Fueled Brewtality (live!). Good work, Mr. Wylde. This one will keep you coming back.

Absolutly fell in love with Adam Pascal in his RENT performance. What a tallented musician. This is a great album for any Pascal fan or for any music lover. Original sound and quality musicianship. Not a single track I didn't love.

Alright, call me slightly biased to Adam Pascal at the moment. I just returned from seeing Adam and Anthony Rapp in the Broadway Tour of Rent and have re-fallen for this gorgeous man. I've alwaaaaaays loved Adam's voice, since 1999 when my wonderful cousin (who was with me tonight) gave me the complete Original Broadway Cast Recording of Rent.

Then came Model Prisoner. I bought this CD when it was released in 2002, and maintain that it got me through a heavy load of summer reading. His voice is so full of passion and warmth (but with an incredible edge) that all tension melts away upon hearing him sing anything. Needless to say, this man has an amazing voice.

And he's never better than on this CD, if you want him singing non-musical material. The title song, "Model Prisoner" is one of my two favorites on the CD, and has lots of the edge and raw passion that he's become famous for. "Undiscovered" is much softer, gentler, and almost angelic. It is a truly lovely song.

In short, if you've become a fan of Adam's through Rent or Aida or from his stint in Caberet on Broadway, take a chance on this CD. You won't be sorry.

Adam Pascal Rocks!

As an Adam Pascal fan, I was anxious to hear this, yet nervous that it would be less than perfect... and I was wrong - I really like this cd. The songs are "singable" - Liken A Razor and Rhyme and Reason are my favorites. For a free preview of him playing an accoustic version of it, go to (...)

ah..the good old days.buying cigarettes underage, losing my virginity at age 14,sneaking my first couple of beers,ah and of course,my first motorheaad cassette. this record is timeless. lemmy and the boys deliver with gutteral force. songs like "i'm so bad baby i dont care" and the war ballad "1916" are a constant reminder of how these guys are old but man can they still rock.if you dont own any motorhead stuff, get this record. you wont be dissapoined.

Very solid, and just as good as any of their classic records

Motorhead's "1916" is a little different than their older classics such as Bomber or Overkill. While you get the fast and hard-rocking numbers such as "The One to Sing the Blues" and "Make my Day," you'll also see some experimentation with songs like "Nightmare/The Dreamtime." This doesn't take anything away from it at all though, and this album rocks as hard as anything else they've ever done. Another thing I must note, is that the title track will leave you feeling a little sad, but in a good way. It is that amazing.

If you like Motorhead, and already own "Bomber," "Overkill," and/or "Ace of Spades," get this album. It's a pleasant surprise that deserves its place in any fan's collection.

Motorhead - Lemmy Actually Sings!

Motorhead was big in Europe throughout the late 70's and 80's but did not make much of a dent here in the U.S. Even their seminal early 80's album "Ace Of Spades" never charted on this side of the pond. By the end of the decade though, Motorhead had developed a solid cult following in the States, and "1916" would prove to be the band's highest charting album up until their current resurgence in 2008. The single "I'm So Bad Baby I Don't Care" even managed to get some airplay on American rock radio. The album also features several songs that have become concert staples ("One To Sing The Blues", and "Going To Brazil") over the years. This is really kind of a unique album for Motorhead as they move out of their hard rock comfort zone here and there, dabbling in electronics and keyboards with "Nightmare / The Dreamtime", and of all things a ballad about a soldier in WWI with the title track "1916". In fact it is this track that really sets this album apart. Lemmy actually sings on this one, (instead of his usual growl) and it is a great little portrait of the horrors of war. Other highlights include "No Voices In The Sky", "Angel City" and "Love Me Forever" with a killer guitar solo from Phil Campbell. My only complaint about this album is the recording. Sonically this thing sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. There is very little bottom end and listening to this on a good stereo system can really be distracting. Other than that I think this is one of the band's best studio efforts. If you are a fan of Motorhead, this one should be in your collection, but it could use a good remastering.
