Cameroon music reviews

When I bought this, I wasn't sure what to expect; I had only heard about them in a world music magazine. The two guitarists do have rhythm/lead roles, but they're nothing like what Western guitarists would expect. They do polyrhythms and time changes practically every second, making them sound effortless (which, depending on how original Bikutsi music sounds, they probably are), and don't come off as being the least bit pretentious. It's a shame that the lead guitarist committed suicide after this was released; they had the same impact on Cameroun's culture as the Sex Pistols or Jimi Hendrix had on American culture. They were (and probably still are) a revolution in music. Buy this today; you won't regret it!
