Cape Verde music reviews

This is a great live album and one of my all-time favorites. The very best introduction to Illapu is probably to listen to some of the same songs on this album, but the studio recordings. This album has some real classic versions of some of the best Illapu songs, especially "Del Pozo de Mis Suenos" with Pablo Milanes (guest vocals). He has a wonderful voice. I also love "Aunque Los Pasos Toquen" and really all of the tracks on the album.

I never tire of listening to Illapu. While I don't share their political view and often times their music is highly politically charged, I love their music. The nice thing is that even though they are leftists politically, they always seem to have positive undertones. So much of what they are saying is true. I am reminded of Hernando deSoto's (Peruvian economist and head of the ILD) opening dedication in "The Mystery of Capital" (book) where he states that he shares the left's hope for a better world, but disagrees with their means of achieveing such. All of that aside, Illapu is wonderful music.

This is one of the best albums from one of the best musical groups in the world. If you were to buy a couple of Illapu albums, this should be one of them, along with En Estos Dias. They continue to put out really good albums but this is a classic.
