Trans-Continental African rythms come togetherthis record is a great representation of traditional african music. although ity leaves out quite a bit of countries in the collection, it caputres the liveliness of african folk music. I love it.
I found it!At last! I've been looking for this African music for ages, I had lost hope. It takes me to Africa everytime I listen to it. It's incredible!

Selections great, sound quality not.I currently own nine cds by the famous group and Celebration was the first one I bought. While I was pleased with the selection of songs on the cd I was disappointed with the sound quality. The entire recording sounded as though it was done under a heavy blanket and subsequently I gave the cd away. I'd like to know if subsequent releases sound better.
Celebrate!Do you like highlife, ska, rai, zouk, funk, with good old r&b thrown in? If so, you need to add Celebration to your collection. This album brings you some classic Osibisa (like the evocative Woyaya) along with newer (though lighter) tracks. The combination has something for everyone. You'll soon be transported not only to another place and time, but to a level not visited by many. If you drink your music, allowing it's intoxifying effects to take you new highs, as it touches the depth of your soul, then this album is for you.

The worst CD by a great artistAs some listeners have noted, this CD is a glimpse into the brilliant virtuosity of African percussionist and xylophonist Bernard Woma. The man is in a class by himself.
Unfortunately, this CD is poorly recorded and mastered even worse. The sound quality obscures what's going on with the music. Any of Bernard's other CD's are much, much better -- and if you want a great live performance, buy "Bernard Woma in Concert" (I don't know if it's on Amazon yet, but search in Google and you can easily buy it).
Someone here wrote that the problem with this "Pito Bar" CD is that it was a bootleg, which would explain it. And give another big reason to pick up a better CD by this great artist!!

I like the sound qualityThis is a live field recording. It sounds like it. Some recording artists go to great lengths to get sounds like this in the studio. If you prefer pristine, audiophile recordings, you won't like this, then heed the warnings of the one-star reviewers.
I think it's questionable that it's a bootleg, as the recordist gives great thanks to Bernard Woma in the liner notes.
I'm interested to hear "better sounding" Bernard Woma, but part of what I love about this is the sound of it.

Rhythmic complexity at its highestBernard Woma is a master musician, and all his CD's are worth hearing, however this one is astounding. Informally recorded, the sound quality could be better but what you receive in trade
is authenticity - a live event that is rarely captured. The rythmic variations, speed and intensity achieved by these players seems almost superhuman. A perfectly syncronized clattering wall of sound which will envelop, entrance and fascinate you from start to finish, you cannot go wrong with this CD.
