Sudan music review Graspy and quite dramatic
The Spanish composer Alberto Iglesias has created the music for several movies by Pedro Almodovar, being the latest ones for "La Mala Educación" and "Volver". He's always been succesful with Almodovar and now he gives the musical background for a foreign movie. Once again, he succeeds in this most fascinating score by creating the right atmosphere to the drama in the movie. The interesting thing is that the music has the same dramatic power even if you're not watching the movie. Some themes are magnificent, such as "Tessa's Death" which opens the album. I would recommend this CD to:
1. Alberto Iglesias'admirers.
2. Audience who saw the movie and enjoyed it.
3. Listeners who enjoy a well-crafted movie score, intelligently executed and brilliantly produced.
4. Refined soundtrack collectors.
5. Followers of New Age music.
I wouldn't recommend it to:
1. Rap admirers.
2. Hard-rock fans.
3. Spectators who go to the cinema and believe that the only thing there's in to see (and listen) in a picture is sex, blood and violence.

Sudan music review Alberto Iglesias does it again!
For those who have followed the musical production of Spanish-born Alberto Iglesias, you will be surprised with his work the score he did for the film "The Constant Gardener". Famous for scoring the five most recent movies by Pedro Almodovar, Iglesias reinvented the style that made him famous, blending in sounds and instruments from Africa. The result is a soundtrack that ranks alongside 2005's great soundtracks, which made last year one of the most prolific ones for movie music.

"The Constant Gardener" is a solid body of music that serves as a great place from which director Fernando Meirelles (City of God) can launch the visual concepts that make this one of the best movies in recent times. Along with the work of Alberto Iglesias, you can spot the voice and strings of Ayub Ogaba contributing the the uplifting musical mix. Overall, this is a soundtrack not to be missed.

Sudan music review Fantastic!
Some soundtracks I hear in films sound worthy of the purchase once I leave the theater, yet when I get the cd home I think to myself "Come on! What a waste". Not so with this one...the music is just as moving in my car or on my Ipod as it was in the theater.

The Constant Gardener was a truly amazing film, and Alberto Iglesias certainly had a challenge in matching such a diverse and gorgeous work with music that could be equally powerful. Iglesias rose to that challenge and delivers a true work of art. An added bonus in this soundtrack are two songs by Ayub Ogada. If anyone is looking for some music that's different and beautiful, he is the answer.

The only weird thing on this soundtrack is that the songs don't appear in the order they did during the film. It works out however, since they flow perfectly on the cd together.

Sudan music review Another 5-Star recording
If you like music of West Java this CD is a great addition for your collection. As like most Javanese music it seems to have no end or no beginning. Very relaxing, when I play it outside birds seem to come by for a listen and add to the song.

Sudan music review the U.N is SLOW
It is a tragedy that Western countries cannot act when it is most necessary and vital.
The world must react to immobility! I know i'm only talking and not acting but if everybody realized what is going in Sudan (among other places) the world probably wouldn't be in this sad situation.

Sudan music review WWW.WAXPLOITATION.COM
IT'S PRETTY SAD IF YOU'RE TRYING TO RESELL THIS CD WITH ZERO FUNDING GOING TOWARDS THE GENOCIDE RELIEF FUNDS. PEOPLE, IF YOU WANT THIS CD TAKE A LOOK AT THIS AND BUY FROM THIS SITE...I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THE MONEY WILL BE SENT TO HELP WHERE IT IS MOST NEEDED. According to the UN, the conflict in Sudan has created the world's worst humanitarian crisis, with more than one million people driven from their homes and up to 50,000 people killed by government supported militias (CNN 8/31/04). The systematic rape of women and the murder of children has been widely reported.

"We're trying to address two things with this CD," says Waxploitation CEO Jeff Antebi, the album's executive producer. "The first is to get the United Nations to declare the ongoing atrocities a genocide, so that real action can take effect to stop what is obviously an `ethnic cleansing' taking place, in violation of the 1948 Geneva Convention. The second is to raise money for the dire relief situation effecting over 1 million innocent civilians who might die from starvation and disease if aid does not reach them right now."

In 1994 in Rwanda an estimated 800,000 people were killed in just 100 days, in one of the worst genocides of the last century. One of the primary reasons cited for why this happened was a lack of outside intervention by the United Nations. Even with UN troops on the ground in Rwanda, they were unable to intervene because it was not legally declared a Genocide until too late.

Waxploitation will donate all of the profits from the Genocide in Sudan CD to the United Nations Refuge Agency and UNICEF (www.unhcr.ch and www.UNICEF.org ), build awareness for solutions that anyone can easily assist with, including signing the petition at (www.darfurgenocide.org/action.htm), and guide people to protests and events in their area.

The CD will be available at most major retailers as well as at www.waxploitation.com/genocide.
