Be aware that there are (probably) 2 versions available: One with 6 tracks and the other with 12. I believe that the "Linea Naranja Series" is the shorter version. The more expensive copies would probably be the full length DVD. Rather confirm with the seller beforehand. Otherwise a very enjoyable 1984 concert of MOCEDADES.

For those who like boleros or any kind of slow, romantic Latin music, this is the album for you. Charlie Zaa, from Colombia, truly breaks your heart and stirs your passions with these songs. Two of my favorite songs, here, are "Pasiones" and "Deseos." They capture the urgency and the pangs of love (and lust). Get together with someone you feel like getting close to, and dance to this.......

I read the bad reviews people have left. And with most of them people talk about "Los Panchos" or "Cuco Sanchez" etc etc. But what people have to understand is that not this type of music is targeted to the younger generations. I personally rather hear Charlie Zaa over Los Pancho or Cuco anyday. I can relate more to him. And he has a fresher sound. I'll leave Cuco and Los Panchos for my Grandfather and Dad.

Excellent piezes of music, truly worth all your money. Zaa has the best latin voice I'd ever heard-with such well written lyrics and romantic themes that sounds just beautiful.

Heard it. Had to buy it.

I heard this in a Berkeley burrito place. It grew on me while I was waiting for my order. I speak only burrito Spanish, so the lyrics were lost on me; however, the melancholy romanticism in the voice resonated in my soul. When that high, husky-breathy, effortless tenor (think Sade ["shar-day"]) seamlessly slid onto the keyboard and guitars of the second track (Odiame), I knew I had to have this music and begged the owner to tell me what it was. Purists (see other reviewers) will doubtless have problems with his styling, but I love it. The owner said he was Puerto Rican, I thought the voice was a woman's, and my sweetie thought the music was Greek. Turns out Charlie's a Columbian guy doing a genre some say was born in Cuba. Whatever. Buy it. Play it. Dance with your sweetie (or a broom) all night.

I bought this for a friend who LOVES Hair Band Butt Rock. I have always dug the Steve Stevens "squeal feel" style, and I feel were it not for him Billy Idol would never have been a star. My friend loved this as an addition to his collection and I never have to hear it again, so we're both happy.

Revisiting this album after listening to "Black Light Syndrome", "Situation Dangerous", and the single he did with Billy Idol for the movie "Speed", this album is almost a Flintstonian execution of a metal spoof album. With lyrics like "an SDI like a gun at his hip when he meets you" on the title track, you are not sure if this album is aiming towards a joke in Spinal Tap/Bad News territory or if the album is just going into the really awful album realm from where no comedy can be derived. The playing is top notch, the song writing varies from one or 2 good songs, to the bad, to the absolutely insipid. Beau Hill also produced Winger; it sounds like either he encouraged Steve and boys to go over the top in terms of camping it up or instead lead them off the cliff.

Steve Stevens followed up his incredible performance on "Whiplash Smile" with "Atomic Playboys". I thought he sounded good with Billy Idol but "Whiplash Smile" was the last album Stevens did with Idol. Admittedly, I do like "Whiplash Smile" better, but then again Billy Idol is one of the premiere rock vocalists. My favorites on this CD are "Atomic Playboys", "Desperate Heart", "Crackdown" and "Run Across Desert Sands". You're going to hear the wild guitar style that you became accustomed to when he was with Idol. I believe I first found this on vinyl in the early 90's. "Run Across Desert Sands", really does sound great if you're on a trip and drive through the desert.

Between 3 and 4 stars. Good but not Atomic

Mr Stevens, side man to Billy Idol + guitar hero of the 2nd degree unleashes his Atomic Playboys for some serious party rock action.

Good points: The shredding of Mr Stevens himself, Straight rockers like the title track/lead cut, changes of pace like Power of Suggestion with it's female backing vocals and only one instrumental. Production by Beaut Hill and Stevens himself and the whole thing fronted by cover art by HR Giger.

Bad bits: Not many - but questions marks over the whole thing cos while it's fairly good in it's own right it's questionable as to how necessary for your collection it is. It does seem very calculated at times and how many debuts in '89 could get Beau Hill + Ted Templeman involved and get HR Giger cover artwork? No chaps, there was some serious corporate bendover going on here.

But over all better than a lot of the hard rock that came out in '89 and better played and thought out and also blessed with mostly straight forward songs with limited guitar hero shredding that could of taken over too much.

A good album but not essential

Two cd's and 41 tracks cover the career of enduring rock legends Status Quo.I't's interesting to hear their sound develop from the bubble-gum 1968 hit "Pictures of Matchstick Men".Presented in chronological order, classics like "Down Down","Caroline","Rocking All Over The World","Paper Plane",and "Whatever You Want" still sound great.Francis Rossi & Rick Parfitt and co. have sold over 120 million records and notched up 55 British hit singles to date,a record in UK chart history. Also included are their most recent hits thru 1996.A MUST for committed Quo fans, and a great choice for the casual fan as well.

This is an absolute peach

The radio stations in the US only play "Pictures of Matchstick Men." That song had me curious enough years ago to read the article in my Harmony Illustrated Encyclopedia of Rock about Status Quo. There I saw that "Down Down" was a number 1 tune in England, and I had never, ever heard it! Couldn't convince the dj to play it, either. So, after years of wondering, I took a chance and bought this anthology with everything on it.

For those others who are curious, but have no clue, just like me before cracking this baby open: The album reminds me of Thorogood's greatest hits, and the J. Geils Anthology: Song after song of boogie and blues, all in the exact same style. Sound-wise, the album graduates from "classic rock" sounding to somewhat electronic and progressive. Add a mix of "poshness" and over-production to the later tunes, and you're there. Honestly, the common driving beat became a little incessant after 2/3 of the first CD. (There are a LOT of tunes here, 41 in all, keep in mind.) Non-stop. Love it. Hate it. But you can take a long trip, and play this collection as traveling music, and not get bored anywhere along the line. While at home, you'll be selective and play the top rated tunes. Aside from so much great traveling music, I feel like I've bought a giant slice of England's landscape. I hear all these top rated tunes that have escaped America's radio. I had to do it to "figure it out." Glad I did.

Great Cd

Here is a great collection of songs from a excellent hard rocking band.
This is a collection of their hits and alot more.
Starts off with Pictures of Matchstick men right up to the more modern version of Status Quo.
Those earlier tunes here were excellent, and they realy had a style and sound of their own.
You can hear the changes musicly they went through with this compillation of songs.

Martha, Martha, Martha!!! Well done, our good friend!! This time, she has invited some of the most well-known and powerful chefs to join her and share their kitchen gems!!

Of course I would have loved for this to have been longer and with more video and recipes and such, but how can I possibly complain? It has the markings of Martha quality and perfection that is her trademark and she has once again, delivered some of the very best. Only this time, she has shared the spotlight with some of the cooking greats!

There are 15 recipes that compromise 5 major cuisines, which include American, Italian, French, Mexican, and Asian. And she has some of the top chefs within each joyful international fare to teach us, with the assist of Martha's reputation of superb filming quality and perfection of delivery.

AMERICAN:
Oven-Roasted Ribs with Bobby Flay/ Olive-Stuffed Flank Steak with Tom Douglas/ New England Clam Chowder with Jasper White

ITALIAN:
Spaghetti alla Carbonara with Mario Batali/ Spiedini alla Romano with Lida Bastianich/ Lemon Chicken with Frank Pellegrino

FRENCH:
Cote de Boeuf with Daniel Boulud/ Shrimp with Orange Dust with Jean-George Vongerichten/ Coq au Vin with Riad Nasr

MEXICAN:
Tamales with Diana Kennedy/ Chiles Anchos Rellenos with Roberto Santibanez/ Calamari with Jose Hurtado

ASIAN:
Pad Thai with Su-Mei Yu/ Pork Buns with Eileen Yin-Fei Lo/ Hand Rolls with Nobu

As per usual, there is the ability to print recipes and instructions for all of these classic foods. Trying to pick a favorite is very difficult because there is a time and occasion for each of these gastronomic delights and it would be very weak to cry ignorance in knowing how to prepare any of them.

The joy (or shall we say the secret) of Martha's success lies in her knowledge that if you give all the steps and instructions to make something, be it food or crafts or gardening, the masses will return to you again and again. And we do. This DVD is no exception to her steadfast rule. We are very grateful for her step-by-step, detail-oriented teaching style and this has become her hallmark. She requires this of her guests as well. And when it comes to cooking and baking, it is essential; if you want a following, teach them well and with patience.

I was please to see that she went back into some of her earlier shows to bring up this menu of guest chefs and recipes. To see a very young Bobby Flay and Mario Batali as well as the most elegant Lidia Bastianich. She has even more treasures from her earlier shows which I hope she brings to DVD as well, perhaps to buy as a series. Ah yes, I digress...........

I was trying to decide which was my favorite but that became impossible as each recipe had some aspect of desire that made it difficlt to decide. The Clam Chowder was soooo very good but that is for my fall and winter settings; for summer, I rely on the Pad Thai with its slight kick of flavor to get us in the mood for sun and fun, not to mention the superb Shrimp with Orange Dust----------absolutely a must!!! And if you need something just a wee bit special for dinner, go with the Olive-Stuffed Flank Steak because it is as beautiful to serve as it is to eat.

This is a definite Top Ten Martha----enjoy!!!

The Volume 1 and 2 series have and are being played over and over again for our own enjoyment and of course for visitors to our home. This is the music of romance, to anyone's ears! If even for a short period of time it transforms our home to an earlier time.

My review will address the discs across three dimensions. First, listenability/pleasure. Some of the finest and truest representations of meaningful and memorable pieces of folk art music. Played in classical style the music evokes memories of simpler and happier times; of being serenaded on the balcony and of welcomed parental involvement in our daily lives, our maturing process. Second, the quality of the music being played. Angelo Favis renders these tunes with such melodic purity it allows you to safely close your eyes to see him play. Favis truly allows you to hear the voices singing the words in your own way.....without them actually cluttering up the music on the disc. His interpretation is flawless and his emotions flow through his fingers to rest on the strings of his instrument. Third, the recording. High quality listening allows the listener to focus on the music and personal images without interruption.

This is music for both men and women. Based on your personal life history the music allows the listener to customize their own experience and build private, individual mental images. These recordings are for dinner party background where everyone in the room can fulfill their own needs or for sitting in your favorite listening chair and floating away in the sound.
