International music reivew Inesperadamente bueno
Como dirian los gringos, boy was I in for a surprise!

International music review El Gran Sabina
Salud Sabina y adelante.

International music review El ms grande

Released three months after her murder in 1995, Dreaming of You introduced the Tejano queen to the mainstream pop audience. Four new tunes recorded with producers Keith Thomas and Guy Roche envisioned Selena as a dance-pop diva similar to Janet Jackson or Mariah Carey, but with a Latin twist. Far more arresting are the two classic mariachi numbers and a bilingual duet with David Byrne recorded for the movie Don Juan DeMarco, in which Selena had a bit part. The contrast between her passionate invitation to "come dance with me" and Byrne's nerdy white-guy delivery indicated her wide-open creative potential. The rest of the album consists of remixes of Selena's Latin-pop hits, including a masterful version of "Techno Cumbia" that bring out the hip-hop and reggae flavors in the groove. The tragedy was that such a promising introduction also served as a sad farewell. --Rick Mitchell

International music review Sorry To selenas family memeber and to her fans
I thought that it was tradgic on what yolanda salvidor did to selena... And if it wasnt for her selena would be on top still to this day... and even though shes dead she still is... She will live on forever in music as people put it... I just couldnt imagine what it would be like to loose a sister, a daughter, and a wife... all do to the fact that she had to be selfish and greddy like she was... And I Think that J.lo jennifer lopez and Selena strike a strong resemlence and they talk and laugh just like one another... its so wierd ...I watch "Selena the movie" on v-h1 on tv whenever its on... Well thats all that i have to say for now... Sorry for your loss i know it must be hard to loose someone... Terra

Everything but the Girl hit the ground running with their first album, Eden; in some ways, they wouldn't equal the effort again for years. Though both Tracy Thorn and Ben Watt learned how to use their voices to better effect over the years, their vocal talents are evident here. Singing over a gentle, tropical-toned combo, Thorn sounds strong and free, and, when the occasion calls for it, vulnerable. Watt may be a little melodramatic on "Tender Blue," but the affecting "Soft Touch" more than makes up for it. Meanwhile, "Another Bridge" presages "Me and Bobby D" (from The Language of Life); "The Dustbowl" succinctly captures a post-breakup reflection with only a modicum of regret; "Frost and Fire" reaches out from daughter to mother; and "I Must Confess" neatly sambas its way out of a finished relationship. Mature, intelligent, and unflinchingly romantic, it ranks among EBTG's best work. --Randy Silver

International music review Scintillating...
"...I used to think that you were all that kept me sane when all else failed/Now I think you were probably what drove me off the rails" Wow. EBTG are, as every other reviewer has pointed out, best known as techno/chillout artists...a shame. Although they make a decent fist of that style, they have done nothing to compare with their first album, Eden. The word bittersweet was made for Tracey Thorn here: punishing lyrics and a piercing vulnerability and delicacy of tone...add to this the bossa nova backbeats, gentle and subtle arrangements and a restrained exuberance from the musicians and you do, indeed, get Eden.
Best tracks? Well, they're all great, but I can't recommend "Even So", "Frost and Fire" and "The Spice of Life" enough. Brilliant.

International music review Why, Oh Why Can't We Go Back To The Garden Of Eden?
Greetings!

I remember hearing this for the first time back in 1985, and I was blown away! The group was definitely different from what I was hearing at the time. It was a refreshing, jazz-influenced sound that had poetry and verve. I had the tape of this album, and I am glad I was able to replace it (it wore out) with a fine import CD.

The songs appear simple and unassuming, but they are wonderful and filled with beautiful poetry and very adept musicianship. This is truly music that will live on forever. Tracy's vocals are extremely beautiful and poignant. IMHO, she has a more pleasing voice and gets more out of a note than most any singer I have heard, and definitely more than ANY female vocalist I have been blessed or cursed to hear! Tracy and Ben have a perfect symbiosis, and this would continue on, until, that is, the arrival of the dreaded techno-pop-mix stuff, which, I really do not care for (it must have paid good money though!).

On Eden, even though I love the entire album, my favorite tracks are: EACH AND EVERY ONE, EVEN SO (with a nice Spanish tempo), and I MUST CONFESS. Brilliant!

All in all, this is perhaps EBTG's best album (in its entirety). The group continued to put out some fine recordings after this, but, when they started doing the techno stuff, they lost me.

Tracy has been blessed with an angelic voice. Ben is a fine musician and a very good writer. Now, if we could just get them back to doing what they did on this album, we'd have a heaven on earth!

Thanks for taking the time to read my review!

Rock On, Kids,
Dr. Of Style

International music review Exceptional EBTG
One of my favorite EBTG albums. Oh how I long for the days of melancholy cool and jazzy EBTG music!! I wish they would make music like this again and drop the techno "stuff"!!

International music review Sui Generis For All Americans
Having lived in Argentina for a couple of years, I came to know this group through the "locals" in Salta, a province in that great country. What wonderful music Sui Generis made (and Charly Garcia, being one of the principles in the group). I listen to it over and over and keep enjoying it. Yes, it's in Spanish, but music like this transcends language. However, if you do speak Spanish, the lyrics are very interesting and thought provoking.

International music review Guitar Master at Work
I've heard Chris play locally many times and am constantly amazed at his composition, playing and his broad musical knowledge. In his act, he covers new age, flamenco, celtic, mid-east, etc. with original and covers of existing songs. My reaction to this CD was "WOW!". He has skillfully added strings, percussion, etc. to make a truly delightful CD. Sometimes the music carries you to where you think it should, and other times it has a delightful surprise. I strongly recommend that you take this CD to your favorite spot and listen to the last cut. Close your eyes and let it fill your soul!

International music review Incredible!
Chris has, once again, proven his amazing musical abilities by releasing this wonderful collection of songs. The descriptions of the songs are proof that he also has a sense of humor. 5 stars and my fingers are crossed for another release in the near future.

International music review A treat for fans of acoustic and world music.
Chris Dunnett combines impeccable technique, strong musicianship
and solid songwriting on this CD that combines flamenco, classical, Middle-Eastern and pop styles. My personal favourites
are the beautiful Yo Se Que Yo Puedo, the Arabic sounding Samson & Dilemma and a wonderful cover of the traditional Maleguena.

Spanish bred actor and singer Rocio Durcal is one of the most beloved and best-known figures in all of Latin entertainment. With a career spanning better than 40 years, the classic beauty of an old-school movie star, a voice of silk, and charismatic feminine mystique, Durcal enchants audiences with romantic pop songs, ballads, and Mexican ranchera. Here on Entre Tangos Y Mariachi ["Between Tangos and Mariachi"], the silvery-voiced siren emotes the classic hits of well-known Argentinean composers in the torch song hybrid tradition of bolero rancheras. Accompanied by a Mexican rhythm section and the Symphonic Orchestra of London, Durcal soars through the arrangements of noted producer Bebu Silvetti, with whom she has worked on previous outings.

Elegant, romantic, and swelling, Entre Tangos Y Mariachi sets the stage for a ballroom of crystal chandeliers, sophisticated cocktails, and whispered seduction, as finely turned out couples dance cheek to cheek, breast to breast. --Paige La Grone

International music review IN MEMORY OF A FIRST-CLASS ENTERTAINER
just read this morning of the very very sad news of this great singer's passing after a long battle with cancer...a kind, wonderful, classy entertainer with an unequalled voice who will never ever be forgotten.

International music review Absolutely gorgeous.
The video for "Everything" is the most beautiful video I have ever seen. I've watched it 20-30 times and it makes me cry every time.

International music review Everything
I was so excited to get this single. I just love the cover. You should check out the cover of Out Is Through. Whoever took that picture and whoever was in charge of that outfit; they knew what they were doing. I just love it. Same here, but, there are no clothes. Just her beautiful and happy face.

Happy. She's finally happy. I'm so... LOL. Happy for her. It upsets me a great deal though, that people miss her being angry. Nevermind. If I get too into how I feel about that, I'm just wasting my time writing this review because profanity is not allowed on this site.

OK. When I first heard Everything, it was ready for download before the album, So-Called Chaos, came out. Which was awesome. At first, I was like, eh. That was before it finished downloading. Then, when I heard the song. I would not stop listening to it. I would be so excited to get home from school just so I can listen to this beautiful song of loving someone for their good and bad, light and dark. I love the music video too.

So Unsexy was one of my favorite songs from her previous album, Under Rug Swept. It was pretty interesting and cool to listen to this song from the Vancouver Session. When you're in a bubbly/perky/happy mood, it's a good song to listen to, playing in the background.

Listening to Everything from the Vancouver Session almost made me cry. It's not a sad song or anything. It's just her voice. My god, it is beautiful. This is one of those songs that I like to listen to when I want to get lost. You know? Get lost, like IN the song, in the voice.

There is not really that much to say. It's a pretty darn good single. Short, but very good. I love it a lot.

International music review "EVERYTHING" We Wanted From Alanis
Alanis is one of the most important women in musical industry, today, and that's not from my point of view, but a general opinion.

She has grown stronger and stronger over the years, and starting with her 30-million-copies-selling "Jagged Little Pill" to her most recent "So-Called Chaos",Alanis has shared with us, her personal experiences, that in a magical way, touch our hearts and talk to our souls.

In this song, "Everything", we see Alanis in her most positive attemp to understand life, to day. She explains all those things that you feel when you are in love. All these feelings of redemption, love, salvation, and finally, the feeling that you are accepted, not in spite of but with all your faults, all your problems and worries.
It'a really great song, one of the best Alanis ever wrote.I love the way the song starts with the synthesizer and each musical instrument is added every few seconds. It really makes you feel like you are in an emotional journey, starting low, reaching the top, and down again.

The cd-single also contains the video for the song, which, without being something extremely great is a good visualisation of an awsome song.

Believe me, it's one of the best things you can buy today, with all those Alanis wannabies (aka Avril,Pink, etc).

I really don't know what else to say, except, what are you still doing there??
GO BUY THE CD.

OHH!!! ALSO THE ALBUM IS GREAT, but read my review for more details on the album.

Thank you Alanis, you really mean ,"EVERYTHING" to us.
Peace.
