A Treasure
it's magicFor those who love the blues, for those who like the gospel, for those who want to discover the roots of rock and reggae, the Real Bahamas is a great treat. The Real Bahamas reproduces some twenty-eight Bahamian songs recorded in 1965 and 1977 by Peter K. Siegel and Jody Stecher and released respectively in 1966 and 1978.
These songs, performed by extraordinary singers and musicians such as the Edith Pinder, Frederick McQueen, Sam Green, Bruce Green and Joseph Spence, are more than beautiful, they are intriguing. They seem to combine the gospels from the Southern plantations with the colors and the brightness of the Caribbean. They sound as if they were coming out from a watercolor by Winslow Homer. They bear the traces of African music, and yet anticipate in many ways the future developments of Caribbean music.
Joseph Spence's guitar in Won't That Be a Happy Time and in Don't Take Everybody to Be Your Friend are probably the most memorable parts of this great record and show that Spence was as good as some of the best blues guitar players.
There is a lot of magic in this music and this is a record worth having.

Essential Spence and Pindar FamilyThis recording contains a number of essential tunes by Spence and by the Pindar Family that are not available on his other records: Spence's "Won't That Be a Happy Time," and the Pindar Family's "Numberless Are the Sands," a simply amazing a capella performance that begins in topical lyrics but then drives deeper into a wild farrago of pure sound and emotion. This album was a high point--indeed, one of the highest--of my education in real music, and I'm sure it will be one of yours, as well. Not--I repeat--NOT to be missed.

What a beautiful voice and a romantic CD!We recently received this as a gift and listen to it daily. These are such romantic songs and Rebecca Dru's voice is so rich and beautiful. I highly recommend this CD. It is quite the perfect gift....perhaps our favorite of the season.
Beautiful vocals and melodies -Rebecca Dru has a rich, passionate voice and writes romantic, singalongable melodies. This collection is one I listen to over and over again. Thanks, Rebec!
Beautifully sung Italian lullabies that warm my heart! This cd surprised me. The songs are so sweet and magical, they must have been written by parents themselves. They are truly lullabies for all ages, and equally romantic. I have the English version also, but since my husband is from Milan I especially enjoy the Ialian. A new artist with such talent in this category is desparately needed and welcomed. Bravo!

superbthis is actually mr. Ruiz' debut album...and it showcases why he has able to make many more. His voice is rich and powerful, even on ballad singing, Arrangements are beautiful.
Another great album from the king of salsa!Rey Ruiz's third original album leaves off where the first two began--with lots of great salsa hits! His singing is the best in the business, his arrangements are superb, and the songs themselves are delightful to listen to and exciting to dance to! Enjoy!

I got mine autographed by P.J. Soles! This is the soundtrack to the cult movie where P.J. Soles plays the Ramones #1 fan. It features two great original songs by the Ramones, plus an 11 minute live performance by the Ramones. The Ramones also back up The Paley Brothers on a cover of Ritchie Valens classic "Come On Let's Go". (Incidentally, Andy Paley later became a well respected producer.) The only other song recorded especially for this album is a cute version of "Rock 'n' Roll High School" by P.J. Soles herself. The rest of the album consists of tracks licensed from other record companies. Most of them are very good, although I don't care much for the weird instrumental by Brian Eno. Several of the songs have a "school" theme, appropriately enough. I should mention that "School Days" by Chuck Berry is not the original version, it's a rerecording that sounds almost identical to the original (it's even in mono). In short, this is a terrific soundtrack. Highly recommended.
wowthe ramones are awsome!!!!seen the movie, even have the movie.i watch it alot just to listen to the music.im wearing the ffrd and rew buttons out.so i found the soundtrack and now i can ware the c d out she is the one is the best song... but i like them all...
AWESOME!!!!I just got this album for the live Ramones songs.. track #4 is well worth the price of the CD!! The live version of "She's the one" is mind blowing. I LOVE this soundtrack.. and if you like the Ramones you will too! Rest in peace Joey, we love you.

best of the bestRomeo et Juliette de la Haine a l'Amour is a must-have for musical theater lovers everywhere. It might be a bit difficult to understand the CD without purchasing the Movie (unless you know French) but I still recommend it. The music is very catchy, and will leave you amazed. I was humming "La Rois Du Monde" for weeks after I first saw the musical! My only warning is to those who cannot pick up the language-it can be quite difficult unless you have the words right there in from of you. Enjoy!
Romeo & Juliette de la Haine a l'AmourThis is an absolute masterpiece. I saw the original musical when i was in France in summer 2001 with my parents for my father's business trip. Then he got tickets for the Romeo and Juliet musical. First, i thought.... musical? But then I saw it. Even though we were near the top, it was amazing. Unforgettable. The music grabbed my attention and held it through til the end. I couldn't understand French, but could just feel the love and the pain from the singers' voices. When it was over, i could not leave the theatre without getting the CD. (Juliette has the sweetest voice.)
Romeo & Juliette The MusicalThis CD is absolutely incredible. The music of this French adaptation of Shakespear's love story Romeo & Juliet is so moving and powerful. It really doesn't even matter if you don't speak French. The musical has just arrived in London now and is playing at the Piccadili theatre. It has, of course, been translated into English. I saw it last night and it is just as emotional as the French version. A must buy and a must see!

True MusicSimply put, you haven't lived musically until you've heard Beth Hart. She has the ability to stroke your emotions like very few others can with her powerful and intense voice. Her words - her sound and voice - have meaning. I bought Screamin' for Christmas a few years back (a present to myself, hehe) and have since picked up Immortal and both are by far my favourite CD's. Before I go to university next year, I'm going to buy them both again just so that I can have new copies. ^_^
A CD you can sink your teeth into!I must thank HBO for airing Beth's performance. WOW! I had to get the CD and it is worth every penny. If you even remotely like Joplin or Dale Krantz-Rossington, you'll love Beth. Her songs rock. There aren't many "whole albums" that I like but this entire album is great, not just one or two songs. I especially dig Delicious Surprise, Is that Too Much To Ask, Stay, Sky Is Falling, Favorite Things, and Get Your Sh*t Together.
Best original compilation of songs in a long time. These tunes will stay in your head long after you're done listening. They really flow.
KickinBeth Hart is one of the most powerful heartfelt singers on the market place today. IF you've never heard her, with just one song, you'll be hooked for life! She can bring tears to your eyes, goosebumps on your back and give you enough energy to rule the world! Buy it - you won't regret it!

Solid debut albumRamones (1976.) Ramones' first album.
In the mid-late seventies, there were a ton of punk groups fast coming onto the musical scene. Although the vast majority of these groups were emerging from the United Kingdom, there were a good share of them coming from the United States as well. By far the most popular of these American classic punk groups was the Ramones. The group took its name from Paul Ramon, the pseudonym that former Beatle Paul McCartney used when checking into hotels. Over the years, the Ramones have built a strong reputation for themselves - one that remains true to this day. It was in April of 1976 that the group released their self-titled debut album. Read on for my review of it.
If you're looking for classic punk rock, you've come to the right place. This album serves up track after track of pure classic punk rock excellence. The band's first truly big hit, Blitzkrieg Bop, can be found on this release. The song has gone down in history as a classic, and this is where it was originally released. Other Ramones classics, including Judy Is A Punk and Beat On The Brat, can also be found here. But, as with pretty much any band's material, some of the finest tracks featured here are the most underrated ones. A good example of this is the excellent Havana Affair. The band even shells out a cover of the Chris Montez classic oldie, Let's Dance. Admittingly, a few of these songs sound a bit redundant (hence the four star rating), but that doesn't mean this isn't an excellent album. If you're new to the band, what better place to start than their first album?
This album was recently remastered and rereleased on Rhino Records. And Rhino Records is a company that never fails to please when it comes to compilations/reissues/etc. The reissue of this albun is no exception. In addition to widely expanded liner notes, there are a ton of bonus tracks! These are mostly demo versions of the album's tracks, and single versions. Casual fans or newbies may not be too drawn in by these tracks, but die-hards are really going to be able to appreciate them.
In conclusion, the first Ramones album is a damn good album. If you're a fan of the band, or just a fan of classic punk rock in general, you'd be doing yourself a real favor buying this album. Just make sure you buy the reissue so that you get the expanded liner notes and track listing!

Moving MusicI have now seen Jeremy Kittel perform live 4 times. 3 times at the local highland games and last night performing with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. If you have the chance to see him live, I would highly recommend it. The music is moving. It is hard to listen to this music without tapping your feet and/or pounding on the table.
If you can't see him live, buy his albums they are a treat.
I give this album 4 stars because it isn't as good as his first album. However, it is still excellent. Well worth listening to.

Astounding musical skillI bought this CD at a concert after hearing Jeremy and his group play the music featured on this disk. I was, in a word, dumbstruck. Here's a lad still in college who is writing and performing contemporary celtic (and jazz) arrangments of the sort done by bands like DeDannon or The Tannahill Weavers or Barde- arrangements of stunning harmonic and rhyhmic complexity, with performance skills to match. His arrangment of Chick Corea's "Spain" is simply a stunner.
Forget his age. Kittler plays with the skill, sensitivity and fire of the best Celic and jazz fiddlers out there. Buy both his CDs now, and in ten years you'll be able to brag you discovered him when he was a mere lad. And if you have an opportunity to hear him play live, run, do not walk, to buy your tickets before everyone discoveres how incredible he is. Six stars.

Playing with great balanceI had the luck of hearing this young man play at a local Celtic festival several years ago, and he certainly knows what he's doing. I'm a former violinist (an injury stopped that), and I struggled with the balance between mechanically correct and being expressive. Kittel does not struggle with this; he just does both very, very well. The songs on this CD were mixed in amongst the traditional Celtic ones I heard that day, and they were a joy to listen to. No worries, here, lads and lasses.

Not the bestWell what can I say... I'm very picky when it comes down to singers. She's not bad for her young age, but certainly not the best. I think she needs to sing in a lower key. She'd sound much better and not so "strained," if you know what I mean. Kinda gets annoying after the first 3 songs to hear her sing that way. Well, just my opinion. Good luck to her though!
Where is she now?I wonder where she is now? I hope she is doing good. This is her second cd and her voice at that age is amazing. She was the youngest artist to get signed by Sony(before Charlotte church). She is a ranchera ala Lola Beltran. a very ranchera voice! I just think the song selection is too ranchera for her. I mean,,, singing about lost love is kind of too early for her.songs like Tomas Mendez cucurrucu cu(in her earlier album) are more to her. most of the songs she selected sem to me are more suited to Vicente Fernandez than her.
Tatiana Bolanos Album ReviewThis was a very cool CD. Tatiana is very talented. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who loves Ranchera music.
The collection contains everything that I could dream for in music: treamendous sophistication, yet modest and unassuming, sweet simplicity and honesty. These people are really singing about their lives! And not about the findings of some market survey.
Sweet, soulful and intreaging.
