I think a true talent has entered our presence. Let's rejoice.... Their work with Carlos Santana on Supernatural should not
be overlooked.
Excellent version of Jimi Thing

I've been a Dave Matthew's band for a long time. His style is definitely unigue and I believe a modern day music genius. The
version of Jimi thing on this short CD is outstanding especially with the jamming guitar of Tim Reynolds backing up Dave.
The ending has the exact chord progression of the lead in song to Rapunzel from Before These Crowded Streets. Highly recommend
this CD.

The track listing Amazon has for this seems to be wrong, or perhaps outdated. When I received this album, it was obvious this
was quite different from what I expected... for example, "The Mighty Quinn" isn't even on here. Most of the other tracks mentioned
here are on this album, but not in the exact order specified... and it's only 20 tracks. I'm not sure how they ended up with
such inaccurate info on here.
The good news is that if you're looking for a good sampling of Manfred Mann's early stuff, this album is still a good choice... but if you're looking for "The Mighty Quinn," which is why I wanted it--I already had a different Manfred Mann collection, also lacking this song--you're out of luck.
Here's the *real* track listing:
1. Do Wah Diddy Diddy
2. Hi Lili Hi Lo
3. I Put A Spell On You
4. 5-4-3-2-1
5. Come Tommorrow
6. Hubble Bubble Toil and Trouble
7. If You Gotta Go-Go Now
8. You Gave me Somebody to Love
9. Oh No Not My Baby
10. Pretty Flamingo
11. Sha La La
12. The Way You Do The Things You Do
13. Stormy Monday Blues
14. Got My Mojo Working
15. Smokestack Lightning
16. Don't Ask Me What To Say
17. I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man
18. Poison Ivy
19. My Little Red Book
20. There's No Living Without Your Loving

For a band that changed it musical style almost as often as its personnel, the output of Manfred Mann was surprisingly good
across the various genre in which the band played. Beginning with the archtypical beat sound - right down to use of a Brill
Building writing team for their first US hit - and then transmogrifying into a jazzy tempo, the group seems a heck of a lot
better in retrospect than some of its fellow-travellers in the second wave of the British Invasion (when was the last time
you tried listening to Freddie and the Dreamers?).
This splendid little album takes the very shrewd and erudite approach to chronicling the Manns by cutting its history before the band's hibernation and subsequent rebirth as Manfred Mann's Earth band.
You get it all here! The marvelous sitting-out-on-the-stoop emotional rocket launching of 'Doo Wah Diddy Diddy;" an intriguing little cover of 'My Little Red Book;' the more mature yet still emotive feelings elicted by 'Pretty Flamingo' and 'Semi-detached Suburban Mr. James, a somewhat toned down - but still bitter, nonetheless - lift of the thrust of 'Like a Rolling Stone.'
There is also pretty good version of Dylan's 'Just Like a Woman," which should not be taken as criticism, but rather a complement on the band's musical prowess...and, well, there is also 'The Mighty Quinn," isn't there? The band clearly shows its ability to interpret material.
All in all, a great album that can be listened to repeatedly for a really good time.

I don't see how happy review warrior calls the two new tracks 'more of the same'; 'New Health Rock' displays TvOTR in a newer
light. The title track is much more upbeat than anything they'd done at the time, with a hint of surf punk thrown into the
mix. 'Modern Romance', cover of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' song, goes beyond the original version's guitar and drums instrumentation
with electronic and ambient influence with truly great vocals.
And while 'The Wrong Way' does work well into the mix, the band could easily have put maybe 'You Could Be Love', an LP outtake, on it for some more substantiality, but oh well, still a great extra couple tracks that really shows the evolution of the band, a necessity for fans.

TV on the Radio are among the unlikely hit bands, capturing a wider audience than anybody expected. The "New Health Rock"
EP is an interesting three songs, albeit not entirely rewarding ones: two are extremely good, but the middle one is a bit
of a fizzer.
The title track is a gritty, dancey song that gives a heady twist to typically catchy rock. Wedged in the middle is the well-named "Wrong Way" -- it sounds like it could've been a good song, but that the band never quite figured out what to do in it. Finishing things up is a murky, dark cover of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Modern Romance," complete with zombie vocals and electronic twiddles.
It's always a good sign when a young band experiments with their sound -- it ensures that the fans won't become bored, and the sound won't get stagnant. So it's good that TV on the Radio is stretching their wings into funkier, dancey indierock rather than resting on their laurels.
Not all experiments work. "Wrong Way" tried hard to be a weird experimental song, but it's too loose and meandering. However, the title track and ghostly Yeah Yeah Yeahs covers are excellent samples of TV on the Radio's rock style -- heavy, thick music paired with low growly vocals, almost like chants.
"New Health Rock" isn't a total success, but the first and last songs are definitely worth a listen. Here's hoping TV on the Radio goes off in those directions.

This is an excellent follow up EP. Different than Staring At The Sun, simular writing styles in both music and words but with
a lot of funk.

Larger than life is a top track, one of my many favourite BSB tracks, however, 'If You Knew What I Knew' is a superb song,
and should have been released as an "A" side track.
This single is worth buying for this song alone.

This album in my opinion doesn't measure up to the calibre of her previous work. It reminds me of Olivia's Totally Hot album

ANN-MARGRET'S FIRST ATTEMPT AT DISCO CAME IN 1979 WITH THE HIT LOVE RUSH- A HIGH ENERGY VEHICLE THAT WAS FUN AND SEXY, BUT
HER INTERPRETATION OF SABUS MUSICS COME THROUGH WITH THE SEXY, 2ND TOP OF OF THE DANCE CHARTS MIDNIGHT MESSAGE-- A GREAT
DANCE ROCK VEHICLE THAT ESTABLISHED ANN-MARGRET AS A CREDIBLE DISCO ARTIST, AS THOUGH ANN-MARGRET HAD TO PROVE HERSELF AS
AN ESTABLISHED ENTERTAINING SUPERSTAR ON THE STAGES OF VEGAS AND COUNTLESS NOMINATIONS FOR MOVIE AND TV CREDITS. HER PRODUCER
PAUL SABU IS A MASTER TALENT IN HIS OWN RIGHT HAVING PRODUCED TOP DISCO ACTS INCLUDING DEBBIE JACOBS AND SISTER POWER NOT
TO MENTION HIS ROCK PRODUCTIONS OF COUNTLESS ROCK STARS.. WITH ANN-MARGRET THIS YOUNG{AT THE TIME OF THE PRODUCTION)PRODUCER
HAD THE ABILITY TO MOLD ANN-MARGRET AND ALLOW HER THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPOSE HER ROCKISH ABILITY THAT ALLUDED HER IN THE REALM
OF MUSIC DURING THE 60'S-- IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT IN 1981 --SABU REALY CATURED ANN-MARGRETS FULL SEXUAL AUORA WITH-- EVERYBODY
NEEDS SOMEBODY SOME SOMETIMES--THAT CUT IS A CLASSIC CUT THAT HAD STAYING POWER AND COULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE HIT HAD IT BEEN
INCORPORATED INTO AN ALBUM IN 1981-- FIRST HEARD ON THE WBLS SATURDAY NIGHT DANCE PARTY MIXES BY THE FAMOUS FRANKIE CROCKER
IN NEW YORK CITY- THIS CUT WAS DESTINED TO BECOME A CULT CLASSIC- THE FLIP CUT WAS EQUALLY FUN IN HOLD ME SQUEEZE ME WITH
A ROCK EDGE THAT SHOWED SABUS ABILITY TO REALLY BE IN TOUCH WITH THE ARTIST.. ANN-MARGRETS VOCALS FITS THE MATERIAL PERFECT
AND OF ALL OF ANN-MARGRETS PRODUCERS THROUGH HER ENTIRE RECORDING CAREER-- YES COUNTLESS ALBUMS IN THE 60'S--IT WAS A YOUNG
ROCKER THAT CAPTURED HER HIGHLY SEXUAL MESMERIZING ABILITY IN THE DISCO ARENA--GETDISCONNECTED SHOULD BE APPLAUDED FOR BRINGING
