Despite what all the negative reviews say. Kim proved herself the leader of the female rap game with this album. Just because she isn't afraid to say what she wants doesnt mean its trash. Suck mY DI.. is one of the best tracks. The beat is crazy and the way she spits on this tracks makes u get the chills! Thats good music!
Fact is Lil Kim is the leader of this game and clearly doesn't give a fu*.. what people think. Thats a winner.
And her image cant get no better, Yea shes sexual to the xtreme, so what, stop hatin!

This is the perfect example of why black women and women in general are disrespected. Lil kim is teaching generations of women to be nasty as you can be and to disrespect yourself. Then to top all of this off she is still hanging on the coat tails of biggie, the ultra fantasy gangsta rapper. Queen latifah never had to talk like this to get her name out or to make good music. This is ridiculous! Kim would be better off in a porn movie than in the rap game. Please please please spare us and stop rapping.

Lil' Kim...notorious for making horrid music.

Biggie put her on the map. Why, i'll never know. So she sucked off the fame he gave her (not the only thing she's been sucking) Also, being a Biggie fan, the name of this cd (proving my point about Biggie) was offensive and disrespectful. This is not rap, this is pop. If you think this is rap, you need to get smacked with a "The Lost Children of babylon" album and learn real rap. Nothing but two dollar trash by a two dollar wh*re.

Kim is nothing but a publicity tramp with no class or style. Please stop buying her albums b/c to me, it sounds like stereo porn. Great female MCs to check out: Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Roxanne Shante, even Salt N Pepa. What do they have in common? They were pioneers who didn't sell music with horrible lyrics and had class at the same time. So don't buy any of Kim's records and get something from the ladies I listed above. So now, your stereo system should be playing the right music.

the CD is great and the songs are all popular ones that parents/kids will know & love. the only issue is that the 2nd song skips a little & must have a scratch or something....but the CD is such a hit with my relatives that have small kids that I gave each of them one for Christmas

The first problem with this cd is the singing, it tends to be very monotonous. It sounds like the same little girl's voice on all songs. Then after we played it a few times, the layer of vocals was erased! Now, we just have the instrumental version of the songs. Very strange, this has never happened to me before. I guess the monotonous voice problem is solved...

We are very pleased with 25 Toddler Songs, our second purchase in the Songs Kids Love to Sing series. The songs are performed by other children, which seems to delight my toddler and, as an added bonus, it soothes his tantrums. He enjoys dancing to the upbeat tunes. Some of the songs are short, but then again, so is a toddler's attention span.

I bought this CD for my son when he was 6 months old. He and I both LOVE it. The songs are familiar tunes that we all grew up with, reasonably well-performed by kids. Many of the songs have a definite beat, something which my son really appreciates. We've "danced" to this CD nearly every day for the past 2 or 3 months. Now, he starts "bopping" to the music as soon as I hit the "play" button. I highly recommend "Toddler Songs" for your baby or toddler as a fun CD that you can both share and enjoy together.

Alright, so I first really checked for Brother Ali when I heard him on Jake One's CD - he was dope there so I picked up The Undisputed Truth. That CD was good to me, but not as magical as I expected given the hype. I picked this up and am both disappointed and happy. There are like 3-4 tracks on here that are absolutely dope dope dope. The other half of the EP is kind of just there though. Average Ali tracks and the beats are just so so. I think the fans are overrating for the classic tracks, which are dope, but overall the EP is just a bit above average given the weaker tracks. DVD is a nice bonus though and would give the rating higher if you add points for it.

Another knockout release from Ali. I love how his EPs have a different sound than his LPs. My rankings:

1) Shadows on the Sun (classic....as if you didn't know)
2) Champion EP
3) Truth is here EP
4)The Undisputed Truth(I was a little disappointed in this album. That's only because I was spoiled by Shadows on the sun and Champion EP, though. If this album was released first I think I would have liked it a lot more, but knowing what Ali is capable of, this album fell short of my expectations.

I couldn't imagine a better voice to support Minnesota's thriving hip-hop scene other than Brother Ali. The quality he brings to the table each and every time out is simply astonishing. While Ali continues to grow as a lyricist and songwriter, Ant continues to make tremendous strides as a producer, bringing even more heat and impressiveness to this extended EP (which is 34 minutes in length). This duo holds the mass appeal that the mainstream aspect of the game truly needs. This is real hip-hop in it's truest sense.

Fresh off of his critically acclaimed sophomore album, "The Undisputed Truth", Ali picks up where he left off. Ali continues to grow as a person, and his music is a testament of his real life tales and struggles - the "truth" as Ali will continue to pound into your skull. He reaches listeners on a personal level, and this material is arguably his best to date, as I say with every Brother Ali release (even though "Shadows On The Sun" still my personal favorite). Ant's soundscapes continue to evolve with infectious funk, boom bap, and jazz flavored elements, among others. Every beat and lyric here is truly gripping in my humble opinion. My favorite cuts are "Real As Can Be", "Philistine David", "Palm The Joker", "Talkin' My Sh**" (my favorite), & the excellent closer "Begin Here". The DVD portion of this package is also very nice, which features a great concert at the legendary First Avenue club in Minneapolis. There is also a commentary track which is very interesting. Highly recommended to any hip-hop listener.

B. Ali is right back at it. True to his sound (ANT as well), true to fans, and true to himself. This is one solid little package. The EP itself is well worth the price, let alone the bonus DVD! The pre-order edition also came with a Brother Ali poster/lyric sheet, sticker, and an Atmosphere and POS sticker from the new albums. Thank you by the way Rhymesayers for the incredible value and product.

I'll do a brief overview of both the CD and DVD.

The EP:
More great beats from ANT (some reminiscent of Shadows on the Sun/Champoin) and of course, more inspired words of truth delivered with Ali's signature flow and passion. Once again, Ali invites you into his life and tells you what's been up lately. The first song particuarly, recaps some of the events that have occurred in his life over the last tour and what not. I won't give any stories away, but I will say that as always, Ali is upclose and personal. Also, as always, his words are well thought out and well placed, and his flow continues to be a favorite.

Basically, it's more great ANT and Ali doin' their thing. It's all there- the beats, the rhymes, the delivery, etc. If you have been a fan of Ali especially, you should in NO way be disappointed. With the new album out this fall, you couldn't wet your appetite any better.

The DVD:
This is a very nice addition to the Ali collection. The bulk of it is Ali's sold-out homecoming show at First Ave in Minn after The Undisputed Truth tour. In between the songs there are cuts of Ali talking one on one with the camera about the tour, coming home, his hometown (includes a take of him in his old hood), etc. The show itself is a great one. Good sound quality as well. I don't want to spoil anything, but the end of the show is cool.

Aside from the show and tid-bits in between, the music video for Uncle Sam is good and the behind the scenes was nice- it was filmed in DC in front of the Whitehouse and surrounding memorials. The video for "Take Me Home" was especially cool I thought. Ali plays a multitude of charters in everday life and the production is very good. It was also comical to see the part with him and BK One at the office in suits.

The last thing on the DVD was a treat- in part becuase I had not heard the song- "The Truth" from the Jake One White Van Music release from last Oct. I should be slapped for missing it- the album has it all- Ali, MF Doom, Slug, and too many to list. Anyway- the Freeway/Ali cut "The Truth" is on.

So botton line- get this, especially if you are an Ali fan. If you're new to the man, get this too, but listen to his other stuff first if you want to get a true appreciation for all the hard work and dedication this man has been putting into this music. It's nice to see him getting the props and sold-out shows he deserves.

The only reason why people bash this album is because it followed PEOPLE'S INSTICTIVE TRAVELS..., THE LOW END THEORY, and MIDNIGHT MARAUDERS. Yes, I do not think that this album is quite on the level with the first three, to say that Tribe fell off is ridiculous. There were definitely some banging tracks on this album. And Consequence is a nice addition to the album. My favorite tracks on this album are "Jam", "The Pressure", "1nce Again" and "Stressed Out". If people would judge this album on its own merit, rather than compare it to past classics, this album would be seen as a great album in its own right. Don't listen to what detractors might say, ALL TRIBE ALBUMS ARE ESSENTIAL LISTENS. Yes, the sound changed a bit, but that does not mean that it is BAD. Listen to album and draw your own conclusions.

This album is absolutely ridiculous from beginning to finish. The beats are the best beats comprised on any Hip-hop album with constant consistency. Flawless production in my opinion probably equaling Camp Lo's Up town saturday night as my favorite ever. Tip is as tight as ever with his execution and delivery along with Phife and cons to the quence who is introduced into the mathematics.

In my opinion one of the best produced albums in Hip-Hop history unmissable. Shame they could not continue the track for track consistency in the Love Movement. PURCHASE THIS !!!!!!!

I've been told from many sources that this album and the love movement were produced nearly 98% percent by Dilla. With another 2% of it overseen and executive produced by Tip and Ali. It Makes perfect sense because it sounds nothing like the first 3 albums. And if you know your production at all, this sounds like 100% Dilla, and if you can't hear him, I judge your knowledge of rap production. The drums are unmistakable, and the background ambience and detail is exactly the sounds that he utilized to re-define hip hop in the late 90's and early 00's. Listen to this, then to Commons LWFC, His tracks with the roots, and his other stones throw productions. Unmistakeable if you ask me, and the sooner you figure this out, the sooner you realize how much of a genius Tip was for discovering this cat and giving him the full creative power to do what he does best, and how much of a time capsule this album really is. BTW, did I mention the rhymes are incredible?

Yeah, there was a time I actually liked Ja Rule and this album was that time. We Hear Now was an okay track to start off the album with. World's Most Dangerous(feat Nemesis) is good. Let's Ride has Ja rapping like Twista on the track and it wasnt a bad album. Nigguz Theme(which borrows from NWA's Efil4zaggin) is cool. The Suicide freestyle with Case is great because it shows what Ja is capable of. Holla Holla was a good first single and Murda 4 Life(feat Memphis Bleek) is a dope follow up. E-Dub And Ja(feat Erick Sermon) is dope collabo by itself. Erick Sermon and Ja did pretty good on that track. Daddy's Little Baby(feat Ron Isley) is Ja's touching tribute to his daughter and Ron Isley complimented the track well. Its Murda was a great match up which feautured DMX and Jay-z(before Ja fell out with DMX). Kill Em All also features Jay-z-- the only thing he's on the hook. Only Begotten Son is Ja ripping his father a new one for not being is his life as a kid. As for flaws I cant recall any. Bottom Line: Venni Vetti Vecci is Ja's best work to date. This is not out of spite, its out of love. Ja showed his true potetial more on this album then he ever did on his later releases. Im not mad at him for going pop, Im mad that he abandoned his fanbase out the window just to make a quick buck and put out slopy work. I could care less about him going pop. This album is reccomended to anybody who remebered him for what he was and not what he turned out to be. Standout Tracks: WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS, LET'S RIDE, NIGGUZ THEME, SUICIDE FREESTYLE, STORY TO TELL, ITS MURDA, E-DUB AND JA, DADDY'S LITTLE BABY, RACE AGAINST TIME and ONLY BEGOTTEN SON.

PS: If you never like Ja, that's cool. If you liked him at one point than despised him for what he has become that's cool to but dont bash him just because 50 Cent made it trendy then turn around and bash 50 Cent years later. This punkdafied groupie behavior you kids chronically exhibit has got to stop!

After appearing on Jay-Z's 1998 smash hit, "Can I Get a...." off his album, "Volume 2: Hard Knock Life," Ja Rule's debut became highly anticipated. His rugged voice and flow made him stick out amongst most rappers in the New York rap scene. Signed to Irv and Chris Gotti's Murder Inc Records, Ja's debut album, "Venni Vetti Vecci" was released in Summer of 1999 spawing the hit single, "Holla Holla."

To steal a line from Biggie, there is no party and bull&%$# anywhere to be found on this CD. This is the young, raw and focused 2Pac with enough energy to change the world by himself - and some might argue he actually did. Standout tracks abound - definitely a CD that you can listen to from beginning to end with no weak spots whatsoever. A definite must for any true collection.

This cd was before 2pac became really commercial and started to rap about money all the time. 2pac is a genius and no matter what album he comes out with, he is always gonna bring skill but he was really talking about something on this one. Racial injustice, police brutality and poverty are the main focus of most of these songs and 2pac is exceptionally inspiring this time. This album is one of the great 90's gangsta rap albums and is ridiculously underrated. Listen to holla if ya hear me if you need convincing that the beats are on time and 2pac's flow is sick on this one. This is his best album in my opinion, if you like 2pac even a little check it out.

2Pac is the best rapper ever. Hands down. No 1 can compare 2 his lyrical talent. I wish he was still alive 2day 2 show people that. Even though he has put out so many awsome records since his death, some people still dont respect him. Like this loser P. Myers who wrote that this album is garbage. U like ZZ Top man! That's garbage! Don't ever disrespect a legend. I can't believe u said that. If u don't like rap, don't review it. This may not be the best cd 2Pac put out, but nothing he has done has been bad.

The reason I say 2Pac shouldn't have released this album is because I think if he knew how much it would have been passed over he wouldn't have let it out. There is so much raw and real effort and emotion 2Pac infused into every track on this album from 'Holler If Ya Hear Me'-the video raised pores back then; to the interlude 'Something 2 Die 4' into the prophetically named 'Last Wordz'. DJ Akshun and Special Ed add one of the most ill tracks for 'Pac to spit on:'Guess Who's Back'. 'Keep Ya Head Up' is the perfect prelude to the murderously dark title track, 'Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z...' that is easily the gem of the album...Here 'Pac gives a glimpse of the Makaveli on the threshold within threatening to emerge- akin to Anakin Skywalker beginning to give way to Darth Vader- following with the exquisitely crafted 'The Streetz R Deathrow' that leaves the listener winded from the killer one-two 'Pac serves up before he pulls a cold one from the fridge for you with 'I Get Around' with tru homiez Money B. and Shock G of Digital Underground. 'Pac next stuns you to tears with 'Papa'z Song' that embodies a piece of all our childhood fears and disasters and is in my personal Top 3 Hip-Hop tracks. All in all I consider this album the beginning of the end of the 2Pac who could be diverse as the humanity he was trying to change on any subject and the prelude to the ascendance of 2Pac/Makaveli who saw enemies in the mirror of All The Eyez On Him; plunging him deeper into inner isolation and workaholicism. After this album I mourned the loss of such an individual that touched so many and couldn't save himself from himself.

You can't have a "10 Greatest Rap Albums Of All-Time" list without including this one. It's one of those albums that you hated the first time you heard it, but as you listened to it more and more, it began to grow on you, eventually-becoming an addiction you can't shake. I can't go far from home without bringing a copy of this CD. I even go through periods where I'm completely-addicted, listening to it every day, for weeks on end.
Co written/produced by The Beastie Boys and The Dust Brothers, "Paul's Boutique" (Ask For Janice) has more in common with classic rock/pop albums like "Abbey Road" or "Pet Sounds" than your typical rap album. It's a lot like a hip-hop soundscape or a piece of fine art. The Beasties and the Dust Brothers put together a mammoth-sized collection of samples culled from a veritable mountain of funk, soul, and even classic rock and pop references, and used these different musical colors, mixing layer upon layer together with some of the greatest rhymes ever heard in rap ("I'm throwin' up signs like Dolomite!"), to paint a hip-hop masterpiece of infinite proportions. "Paul's Boutique" is one of the last great rap albums (like Public Enemy's "It Takes A Nation Of Millions...") recorded before the rules changed regarding sampling. Back then, rap artists had free-reign to sample whatever music they wanted, and the Beastie Boys left no musical stone unturned. This album is LOADED with samples from all sorts of classic artists such as the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and other classic rock/pop bands, along with funk and soul artists like James Brown and the Meters (WAY-too much to really go into any kind of detail). Trust me, if you are one of the few people left on earth who hasn't experienced the genius of this classic album, then do yourself a huge favor and buy the CD. Take it home, do whatever you have to do to "relax", play this CD through a fine-sounding home stereo, and sit back and close your eyes. I assure you, you won't be disappointed. This one's a keeper.
(By the way, if this CD seems to be a bit on the quiet side, that's because it was mastered long before the days of "brickwalling" (Nowadays, engineers use mastering compression to push the volume to the limit, at the expense of dynamics). Back in '89, dynamics were still considered an important thing in music, so if it's not loud enough, then turn it up)

Respect to the Beasties for the courage to grow up. That said, however, this, their second album, was their creative zenith, at least as a straight hip hop crew. I'm obssessed with the song "high plains drifter" and am going to, at some point in my life, try everything mentioned in the song. I've already spent a night at the motel 6.....

It's all been said before so I'll keep this short. But if you are interested and ANY kind of Hip Hop or modern funk/rock you need to own this album. No only is it an awesome album in and of itself, but it has grown into a classic of cultural proportions. It was a major influence on bands like Sublime and 311 who have in turn influenced countless bands themselves. It also proved that the B-Boys were more than just a white boy rap gimmick. Anyway, do yourself a favor and get in on modern music history.

When reviewing a song/CD, I ask myself a few questions: 1. would I pay to download it from iTunes or Amazon? 2. If I got it free (for example, as a gift), would I load it onto my iPod? Obviously, tastes vary a lot (see all the prior reviews) esp. between genres (e.g. country vs. rap vs. rock). For compilations such as this CD, one would expect more really great songs than an average album by a single artist. And, I have to admit, this is true here (but barely IMHO). I've also heard NOW 26, for example, which has many more songs I like than NOW 23. As has been pointed out by others, this CD has many songs that were not big hits--unknown to many reviewers--kind of a cop-out if you ask me. Personally, the only songs I'd pay to download are:
#2 Promiscuous: (I already had it in my iPod), an interesting mix of 2 artists with a catchy beat--but nowhere near wonderful Nelly Furtado's best song. My fav is "Like a Bird"
#12 Unfaithful--Rihanna has a nice voice but could have sung this one better--but at least she doesn't overpower this one with so much repetition
#13 Too Little Too Late: pretty good, worth listening to
#19 Far Away--a solid Nickleback song--their singles are usually great though their album "B-sides" can be pretty awful

So, 4 out of 20--not so hot but better than a lot of 1 or 2 out of 12 song albums. Certainly, your taste will differ from mine, but there you have it--"different strokes for different folks."

This is a very good addition to any NOW fans CD collection or anyone's,
in general, as it has a good variety of music. I will do a track-by-track
review:

1. Fergie-London Bridge: Fergie is okay solo. This is not a great track,
by any means, but it is better than "Fergalicious". And it has a good beat. B-

2. Nelly Furtado feat. Timbaland-Promiscuous: Finally, Furtado releases
a decent song. This and "Say It Right" are awesome tracks and I'm glad she
finally showed her dancier side. A

3. Pussycat Dolls feat. Snoop Dogg-Buttons: I hate all Pussycat Dolls
material, and this is no exception. As before, a guest performer always helps add strength to a song by the Dolls. C-(for Snoop Dogg).

4. Justin Timberlake feat. Timbaland-SexyBack: I love this song, even though it was overplayed. It just has an excellent hook and Timbaland is
great, too. This is GREAT. A++

5. Christina Aguilera-Ain't No Other Man: Some funky beats elevate an
otherwise average Aguilera song. So-so. C+

6. Beyonce feat. Jay-Z-Deja Vu: Like Aguilera's addition, some good beats
help this song, as does Jay's rapping. It's an okay song. B

7. Cherish feat. Sean Paul-Do It To It: This song is really annoying, but
now I've got it stuck in my head. Note: It's not the Sean Paul you think.
D

8. Kelis feat. Too Short-Bossy: This song is kind of funny and has a good
hook, so I like it fine. B+

9. Chingy feat. Tyrese-Pullin' Me Back: This is an okay Chingy song, since
he's not as annoying as he usually is, thanks to Tyrese. It has a good
backbeat, albeit a repetitive one. A

10. Lyfe Jennings feat. what's-her-name-S.E.X.: This is an average song,
at best. It's a little too slow for me. C

11. Ne-Yo-Sexy Love: This is an okay ballad, but that's all it is. Nothing
to get excited about. C

12. Rihanna-Unfaithful: This is a bad song, with an annoying chorus and
Rihanna's singing sounds disjointed. Ugh. D-

13. JoJo-Too Little Too Late: It's surprising to find teen pop on NOW again. Not that I really like it. C

14. Nick Lachey-I Can't Hate You Anymore: I don't think this was that big
a hit. It's not as good as "What's Left Of Me", and that song is pretty
bad, too. C-

15. Teddy Geiger-These Walls: I like this. It's heavier than "Confidence"
and Geiger sounds better on vocals this time around. Nice. A-

16. Jessica Simpson-A Public Affair: I like this song because of its
bouncy hook, but Simpson's voice gets annoying at points: A-

17. OK Go-Here It Goes Again: As you probably noticed, I am a rock fan,
and this song is very good. It's a great rock song, overall. A+

18. Hinder-Lips Of An Angel: I usually despise rock ballads, but this is
okay for its guitar solo and because the singer actually sounds sincere.
A

19. Nickelback-Far Away: This is a good ballad, too, even though it is
Nickelback and I usually don't like their stuff. A

20. Keith Urban-Tonight I Wanna Cry: I hate wuss country. F

This is a good NOW CD, even though none of them have been really bad.

National Disgrace was the video that I fell in love with. I happened to see Atmosphere on a sampler DVD released from Epitaph records. I'm into the type of bands that are on Epitaph and generally don't listen to any hip hop at all. But I was so mezmerized by Slug's voice and the music video, that I had to buy their album. Currently, I have 6 of their albums and they're all amazing. The lyrics are my main reason for loving Atmosphere. The words actually mean something, rare with a lot of rap/ hip hop artists. But Atmosphere has something special, and I'm glad I found them.

This was my first Atmosphere album. I stumbled upon it while at Best Buy looking for CDs. I saw it everytime I went. I said, "Fine, I'll take a chance on you". "You better be worth it". And.. it was. As I sat there on my couch listening to it.. I thought.. Damn.. He's (They are) pretty good. Been hooked since. I own them all now. If you want to listen to real Hip Hop that doesn't involve guns, rims, boasting & crack.. then this is a great album for you. Nothing flashy, just his outlook on life. Try something different.. you'll like it.

Essentially, this is "Hip-Hop" for people who normally would never listen to Hip-Hop. This is the kind of album, which as a hip-hop fan, is recommended to you by your friend who normally listens to fall out boy because he knows you're into hip-hop.

This is a very feminine, wannabe-poetic attempt at "intelligent rap". The lyrics are mostly Slug's complaints about girls.

The beats can be almost decent on some songs, but are generally diluted by some kinda of "artsy" elements.

If you want hip-hop that isn't about money and violence, please don't think this junk is your only option.

Atmosphere and the whole rhymesayer's posse are making underground hip-hop look bad. Yes, I said it.

When Get in Where You Fit In was released in 1993, west coast rap & hip-hop were just starting to hit the mainstream with the help of Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg. Too Short has always been putting out great music since the late 80s and this album is my favorite from Short. There are so many classics on here. The album starts off great with I'm a Player and then just keeps going strong with Just Another Day and Gotta Get Some Lovin'. This is one of those albums that every hip-hop fan should have.

You've got to have this, how could anyone not like it...unless you dont like sexual lyrics. Its somethin funky fresh that you can ride to fool! It blew me away if you like funk, pimp rap, smooth grooves, etc then buy this. I'll roll around all day in my impala on dubs to these syrupy beats (produced by Ant Banks!) and FUNNY lyrics... wishin i had an old school rag top cadillac on spokes and vogues too. His album Cocktails must ESPECIALLY be checked out also, but I stronly believe all his old school albums should be in your collection. Not sure about his newer 2001+ albums(theyre probably awesome too, but more of a lil jon, hyphy oakland style since he moved to ATL), but i just ordered "too shorts greatest hits 1983-1988 the player years", which has his first three albums that you wont be able to find, all on it on two discs from amazon, cant wait to get them but that stuff is OLD old school.

Too Short is respected as a legend for being one of the West Coast's first MCs and gets unconditional love from the Bay. His eighth album is 1993's "Get In Where You Fit In," a fine showcase of one of rap's most unique characters. Back in '93, classic hip hop LPs were dropping by the week, and Too Short's Dangerous Crew created a presence with their funk-based Oakland sound. Ant Banks deserves a co-credit for this LP, for mastering the pure, ungangstafied funk that was the Dangerous Crew's trademark. True to his formula, the songs have no hooks or recognizable structure, so sometimes they drag on, especially since all but two tracks approach six minutes or more. But the bass-heavy, twangy funk is endlessly enjoyable, with live instrumental breaks, clever samples, and thumping percussion. Banks' funk isn't soulful or smooth like Long Beach's g-funk; it's heavy, deep, live, and tight. Musically this is one of Banks' best works, comparable to his solo efforts.

It's business as usual for Shorty on the mic. The topics at hand are pimping, his sexcapades, and prowess with the ladies. Short's pimp persona is by this point familiar, but still fun as he tells long winding stories over Ant Banks' tracks. He is one-dimensional, but at this point in his career, the Dangerous Crew was in full effect, and frequent guests include Ant Banks, Goldy, Rappin' Ron, and Ant Diddley Dog. "I'm a Player" is the opening highlight, a pumping statement from both Short and Banks. "Just Another Day," produced excellently by QDIII, chronicles a day that includes hustling in Oakland, a post-game party at Gary Payton's house, and a concert in New Orleans. "Gotta Get Some Lovin'" recounts a "dry spell" over a spage-age banger, and Banks cleverly flips well-known samples for "Money in the Ghetto" and "BJ Betty." Banks and Short trade off verses over "All My Bs are Gone"'s twangy lick, and the whole Dangerous Crew shows up for "The Dangerous Crew" and the title track, the latter a 9-minute diss at former member Pooh-Man (check out Ain't No Love for the comeback). Short proves time and time again that he can flow for days, and he is frequently a force on the mic as his stories defy any convention. Short and Banks are a great match and their music is completely unique and creative.

"Get In Where You Fit In" isn't a lyrical masterpiece by any means, but what Short lacks in lyricism he makes up for in style and Ant Banks' beats. It's hard to compare an album like this to the classics of '93, because it relies on a different formula of music and style. In any event, it is a good listen that I recommend. Over Too Short's long and winding career, his music has become reheated and derivative, but I think his best days were with Banks and the Dangerous Crew, so this is an album I'd check out if you're new to Too Short. He's a better character than rapper, but he's one of rap's most prolific and influential MCs and it's hard to argue with this funk. Good music for the ride, party, or just relaxing.
