This is my first Michael Buble CD and I liked it. His great voice and singing style is good for my stressy days and tired evenings. For me, as long as the songs are enjoyable and the singer sound great to me, all is OK for me.

This is my first of Buble's albums and I am SO happy I bought it. He is so fun to listen to...great "ring" to his voice, full and resonant. I loved his jazzy, sexy interp. I'm a total fan!

I read the negative reviews and although I agree with some of the nitpicky points, the fact of the matter is, Buble can take any song, make it his own and you have to listen. I think the only song I skip is Me and Mrs. Jones just because it is about adultery, not because he can't sing it. The tone of the album is definitely darker, a downer and deep blue, but when you have a singer like Buble, exploration, variety and new paths are a must. He can not be relegated to just a Frank Sinatra or Nate King Cole impersonator.
I love the variety, I love the different treatments, arrangements, the variety of songs, tempos and beats. Keep it coming Michael!

Farm is good - didn't grab me like "Beyond" did and personally there isn't enough songs with Lou Barlow on vocals. Some songs sound too similar to one another - stand out's for me are "I Don't Wanna Go There" , "Over It" and the best is "Said The People" - i really like the cover for Farm and the bonus x4 songs are worth having - 7/10 album.

It's a good listen. I'm not a long-time fan or devotee - just heard a couple of tracks on Pitchfork for the first time and ordered this new release. Great guitar work, nice power trio sound - and catchy tunes. Nice tight production and certainly studio polish. Could've used a stronger producer's hand to shorten some of the final tracks, but the bonus CD is a treat.

Michael Jackson ... DANGEROUS (1991)

Review Date: 2009-06-28
In 1991, Michael gave us his ninth album entitled, DANGEROUS. Once again, Michael proves to us that he truly is the King of Pop. Just about every song on this album is amazing.

"JAM" (performed by Michael Jackson & Heavy D)
The fifth single from the album. At first, I wasn't too keen with this song, but about ... five years ago, I listened to the song again and it had grown on me. Definitely a great song.

"WHY YOU WANNA TRIP ON ME"
Great song.

"IN THE CLOSET" (performed by Michael Jackson & Princess Stèphanie of Monaco)
The third single from the album. Damn! Michael really wanted a sexual song and he got it. This is one sexy song. In the song's music video, (sexy) model, Naomi Campbell, appears as Michael's lady friend, where she actually re-recorded Princess Stèphanie of Monaco's vocals.

"SHE DRIVES ME WILD"
Great song.

"REMEMBER THE TIME"
The second single from the album. Michael continues to reel out the awesome dance tracks. The song's music video is another one of Michael's greatest and one of his most elaborate. Eddie Murphy appears in the video as Pharroh Ramses, as the video takes place in Egypt. Iman, David Bowie's now-wife, appears in the video as the Pharro's queen, who, is "Bored. I want to be entertained. Can my Pharroh find some way to entertain his Queen?" After two failed entertainers, a mysterious man approaches, throws onto the floor, three handfuls of gravel, stands on the gravel, and mysteriously disappears, leaving his black cloak. Suddenly the gravely and clock turn into gold, which then morphs into Michael, where the song finally begins, with Michael flirting with Egypt's Queen.

"CAN'T LET HER GET AWAY"
Great song.

"HEAL THE WORLD"
The sixth single from the album. What a great ballad with an extremely positive and true message.

"BLACK OR WHITE"
The first single from the album. What a great song. The message being sent out is one of the greatest messages ever. The video was directed by John Landis, who is famous for directing such movies as "Kentucky Fried Movie", "Schlock", "Blues Brothers", "Trading Places", "An American Werewolf In London", as well as Michael Jackson's video for "Thriller".

"WHO IS IT"
The fourth single from the album. Great song.

"GIVE IN TO ME"
The seventh single from the album, though, released in the UK & New Zealand only. Once again, Michael decided to rock out. This song is way too awesome, and is my favorite from the album.

"WILL YOU BE THERE"
The eighth single from the album. Not only was this song the album's eighth single, but it was also the theme song for the 1993 Drama / Family film, "Free Willy". I never cared for this song.

"KEEP THE FAITH"
Great song.

"GONE TOO SOON"
The ninth single from the album. Great tune.

"DANGEROUS"
The album's title track. Great song.

back in 1991 Michael Jackson re emerged with a new sound and vibe. He came back with a New Jack Swing and more edge to his sound. He had elements from his past. all the New Jack Swing cuts are bangers. Jam,Why you wanna trip on me?, In the Closet, She drives me wild, Remember the time(which is soulful) can't let her get away, the title cut is tight. WHo is it is tight, will you be there. so many Great classic MJ vocal performances and the overall feel of the album is still a Banger. Michael Jackson as always being the Creative Genius he is,always is able to turn the corner with whatever is happening. I played the album, cd and tapes out and had to buy new copies. MJ had that Jerri Curl Activator New Jack Swing Funk going on. Props to the King of Pop.

Michael Jackson's "Dangerous" was released in 1991. This was after "Thriller" (the best selling album of all time) and "Bad" (became the second best selling album of all time). Most people consider those two (along with "Off The Wall") to be his best work. But I think they're wrong. I think this is his best work ever. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that this is the best album in the history of music! From the infectious beats on "Jam," to the emotional "Heal The World" and "Will You Be There," this album goes to so many different places and does a great job at it! Michael Jackson is "The King Of Pop" and this album proves it! Buy this album right now!! Trust me, you will not be disapointed.

PS - I also reccomend the "Dangerous - The Short Films" DVD, because the videos are just as captivating as the music!!!

I really wasn't sure what to expect with this new CD, but it is amazing! I heard "Just Go" on the radio and instantly loved it. The title song's carefree chorus features Akon, who I think works very well with Lionel Richie. The song is real unassuming and likable, and it makes for a perfect song to listen to this summer. I thought Lionel's other song with Akon, Nothing Left to Give", was real catchy too. Akon's singing on this song is very similar to his work on Gwen Stefani's song "Sweet Escape".
"Forever and A Day" was very interesting, too. I thought the beginning of the chorus sounded a lot like those old Folder's coffee commercials ("The best part of waking up..." as compared to Lionel's "Girl, your the best part of me...") Whether it was intentional or not, it sure made me remember the song!
"Good Morning" is a beautiful romantic song that is a real joy to listen to. I think it's one of the best on the album. "I'm In Love" is another great song that's enjoyable and sincere without being too loud or complicated. The song's got a great chorus that's a lot of fun to sing along with.
Along the way, there were a few of the songs on here that weren't that memorable, but it doesn't mean they aren't good (for example, "Forever", "Pasttime", and "Think of You"). Even the "worst" song on here is "good", I think.
The highlight of the last half of the album has to be Lionel's duet "Face in the Crowd". I was surprised the song was so upbeat and not slow like "Endless Love", but it worked very well. I hadn't heard of the female singer before, but she did a really good job.
Another surprise was "Somewhere in London", a techno-infused song that is quite dancy. The album ends very well with "Eternity", a beautiful gospel-like song featuring a choir and wonderful message of unity. Great ending.

If you like Lionel Richie and you're an objective music listener, you have to check this CD out. As a young person (23) who appreciates older music and has a limited taste for the modern stuff, this album is perfect. There are very few artists who can pull off something like this, where they remain true to their style while updating it and marketing it to a younger audience. What a wonderful surprise this CD was!

I've never been much of a Linoel Richie fan - actually, I generally don't like his music. He was on 'The View' today and I really enjoyed his new track "Just Go". Being a Trop Rock aficionado, I liked the reggae beat and the escapist message. So I'm buying the CD and will listen to what else he's come up with.

Please be very slow to hit the purchase button on "It's Not Me, It's You". I love Lily Allen, and I laughed aloud at "Not Fair". The rest? The The F-Bomb repeatedly set to over-polished 1975-era pop tracks just does not hold my interest. I know all the "bad" words and am bright enough to know the only way they CAN work is by using them sparingly. Otherwise there's no impact...no punch. This album is like listening to giggling 'tweeners who just learned a new word for sex or something. And I get a little tired of her social commentary. Yah we know there's problems Lily. One reason I listen to music it to help me FORGET about them. She should save this stuff for rallies where people can go get revved up for their cause or whatever. I wish she'd stick to the songs about personal relationships...she does it well. Still love the voice. I'd almost pay to hear her sing the menu at a Jack-In-The-Box....but not quite.

I'm not really a pop fan for the most part but every now and then I will listen to some pop music to lighten up the mood. Lily Allen is one of the few pop artists that I listen to. I loved Lily's first album so I was excited when she put out a follow up album not too long ago. I must confess I was a bit unimpressed with IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU. The music didn't have the same bite and charm her debut album had. The melodies for the most part were pretty forgettable except for the song "F*** You" which is funny as heck to sing along to. I love the snotty attitude of that song and I found that quite lacking on most of the album. I did enjoy "Not Fair" which was quite melodic but didn't like the infectiousness of "F*** You". Lily's vocals is rather limited on the album which really doesn't help the songs either. While I think IT'S NOT ME,IT'S You isn't bad but it certainly doesn't live up to its predecessor.

Love it!

Overall Grade: B+
Hilights: Everyone's At It, The Fear, Not Fair, Never Gonna Happen, F*** You, Chinese

Lily Allen is back, and still shameless. "It's Not Me, It's You" is a brilliant sophomore record that combines silly romantics and societal views with her usual brutal honesty and cynicism. While upbeat, fun, and slightly intoxicating, Allen's focus has shifted into a bit of broader and more serious thinking (as evident in the album's opening track, "Everyone's At It"). Still, she could care less what anybody thinks. "F*** You" is a whimsical biggot basher and "Chinese" is just too cute! Fans of her first album should eat this right up.

Great. Refreshing. Fun.

This isn't as bad as some reviewers have made out, nor as good as others have said. There are some excellent selections (eg Where or When, Everytime we say Goodbye, Exactly like you) but overall the standard isn't up to the Paris session. As has been pointed out, the orchestra in Rio isn't quite as good as the Paris one. Diana's playing is fine, but her intonation is patchy with too many lazy sliding-up-to-the-note choices in the manner of Vera Lynn (for those Brits who remember her!)And the "singalong with Diana" bossa selections-which I'm sure were moving and atmospheric live-lose a bit when viewed on film. Anthony Wilson plays good consistently. As for everyone getting older, which some reviewers have observed, well that happens to all of us-and Diana still looks lovely. But Mr Hamilton has DEFINITELY eaten too many pies since Paris.....!

I have both the Montreal and Paris DVD's they both have their own character and personality. The Brazil DVD adds a mature musicianship that puts Diana and her group in a new category which will carry her into the future. Guitar players are astonished by Anthony Wilson's genius and the best jazz guitarist of today, Jeff Hamilton who is internationally known as the greatest brush drummer shows that on this DVD. And, of course, Mr. Clayton who is one of the greatest composers as well as bass players. No, this DVD is more than a performance. It is a tribute to great jazz players. Maybe the Oscar Peterson Munich concert equals it in importance... Buy this and you will be playing it 10 years from now

I had the good fortune to have been a disc jockey on one of the few radio stations that still played "Easy Listening" music up until the late '90s, KQUE in Houston(until it was sold and flipped to Spanish).
I played Sinatra and Jobim, Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto and Sergio Mendes, wishing all the time that the bossa nova had not been just a passing musical genre, in the US at least. Then here comes Diana Krall bringing back that magical beat on a couple of her recent albums and THEN, a DVD of a concert in Rio! I just finished watching the whole thing from end to end and I was enthralled, especially with the audience of cariocas singing along in Portuguese to,"The Boy from Ipanema". I thought I heard Astrud somewhere in there at the back table. I almost didn't buy this DVD because of some of the negative reviews here, but my birthday is coming up and I thought, hey, I'll get this for myself and tell those who would buy me another shirt that I'm fixed, thank you. If you are determined to purchase only one Diana Krall,"Live in ..." DVD, by all means get Paris.
But if you love Diana, John, Jeff and Anthony AND the bossa nova and can't imagine it getting better than played before an audience in the city of its birth (and the liner notes didn't even put an apostrophe in "its"), buy this DVD as fast as you can.

People. Here I sit defying my own mantra. My own raison d'etre. My own popcorn at the cinema verite. I never wanted to review this iconic album. Really I didn't. But forces beyond your known experiences and weakening tides of the earth have sung a different tune to the Seer of Seers, the Truth beyond Fiction, the Hobnail of all the Boots, your own beloved Metamorpho.

Why you say? Because what could one add to the vast multitudes who have written before your enlightened friend? Me! That's who! And please realize that explaining this album is not what I'm about. No. Having an off-centre approach and having fun is really what it's all about. No doubt.

This is one of those albums that stand out from the crowd because, upon your very first listening, it is such an impressional landmark in your mind, and so entirely unique that you just have to listen to it again- and again- and again to reveal yet another nugget of worth from it's vast expanse that your sub-concious mind (as stubborn as it may be) must be forced to give up to your concious mind eventually. It will happen. No need to stuggle. I will be there for support.

I do not presuppose that I know everything that this album means to all people. Or what it conveys. It's always a subjective thing people, and I can't speak for he or she or them or it or he is me and we are all together that we belong to. Face it. Late 60's or early 70's psychedelia has taken a toll on all of us. That said, this album is the monumental one by Pink Floyd and one that is essential in your vast musical archive- even if you never listen to it. Hell, even owning it is like a musical pass to the great beyond and then some, providing, of course, that you symbiotically got something from it. And, don't make me responsible. Everyone hates to be responsible these days. What? You didn't notice? How rude.....

To me, this album is so successful because the music and lyrics pertain to the journey of life. And themes that we can all relate to. Life's struggles, money, mental illness, comfort, time (or lack of it), energy spent, personal alliances or the differences between us, the value and worth of our own human experience, death, and the beginning and end of our own existence. Inescapable stuff for sure. And. so jarring.

We revisit so much because we want to know that we didn't miss anything. But Pink Floyd, in this outing, gave you more than enough aural enlightenment that it will keep your brain cells and ears humming for years to come. Take my word. Seers never lie.

The whole thing is hard to explain. It's like explaining why Metamorpho has a vast fan club at his beck and call 24/7. It's just one of those phenomenas that we all must marvel at. But, Pink Floyd did it with all sorts of electronic equipment; synthesizers, changing patterns, clocks chiming, horns, saxs, driving rythmns, soft melodic breezes of sound. The changes relate to the many moods of life itself. And this is what I find so exemplary about it's whole construction.

The seamless construction of this offering has stood the test of time. I think that if you don't get anything from it then you really haven't listened to it. And, music of this magnitude commands to be listened to. From the heartbeat at the beginning to the heartbeat at then end- this really is what your life will be. This is the genius behind the production. Don't take my word. I am just an all-knowing Seer. Come to your own conclusions. Any Colour You Like. But, if you don't agree with me- I will be highly offended! ;) (But forgiving).

In closing- a monumental work and make of it what you will. But, definitely worth a place in your collection of all-time greats.

The lunatic is not so crass-------Metamorpho ;)

My younger brother died recently, and requested we play "brain dead" at his services. My sister and I were appauled, (we were not sure who Pink Floyd was). I ordered the album, and play it in my car always.

I learned alot about this group, and find it interesting.

Thanks, Billy!

I never owned this CD (album) before, even though I've been in love with Floyd for many years. The sound is excellent, sweet and clear. I can't tell you how many times I have played the song "Time" in the past month. Thanks so much!

I finished watching Mark's documentary twice, a story of exploration, where he retrospectively journeys into the life of his late Father Hugh Everett who was a remarkable physicist. Hugh is known for his paper on parallel universe that throws a new light on Neils Bohr's perspective of quantum physics. Hugh's battles with world renowned physicists and his ups and downs were not noticed by Mark, until Hugh passed away suddenly due to a heart failure at the age of 51.

Mark hardly ever talked with his Dad when he was alive, partly because his Dad was lost in deep thought and research work, and partly because of the ups and downs he went through while trying to convince his theory of parallel universes to the world's renowned physicists.

Mark knew he had to find out more about his Dad's journeys through his life. He set out to meet all the professors and government officials with whom Hugh had worked and interacted during his life. He also went back and transferred all the dictaphone tapes of his Dad's meetings to a known format to get more clues on his possible journey.

Mark's efforts have proved to be successful, as more people today are aware of his father's outstanding contribution to physics. Over the years, Mark realized that his father was too early for his time and the world was not ready for such a radical theory.

When I listen to Mark's music, I can hear the story, agony, joy, disappointing, frustration and excitement in his singing. I really think Mark is a really talented musician, and also in many ways you will realize that he is very much like his Dad. Mark has re-discovered himself through his Dad's story and his music ability and is a whole new person after he finished doing the biography of his Dad.

I really enjoy Mark's music, his song writing ability and the uniqueness of his talent.

Serious fans of E and the Eels are overwhelmed with information about the man, his life, and challenges. I happened across a tune about 5 years ago, and have listened to much of his catalog. Fascinating life, true talent, heartbreaking episodes, there's no lack of pedigree or justification for making music.
I'm looking at it this way: I'm headed to a sunny vacation in a week, putting some mixes together, etc. Nothing crazy... However, Hombre Lobo is going straight on as a stand alone album / playlist whatever the proper nom du jour.
A beer, some contemplation, blowing off some steam, maybe some shenanigans - this is a great soundtrack for all of that. Cool adult music, without about being contemporary junk, saccharine, forced swagger of bygone youth (no one is calling anyone old here man, it's just life). Put this in your player of choice and enjoy.
Howl.
P.S. - Fresh Blood is inevitably going to make it into a movie soundtrack, I request that it's a good flick :)

More great music from E

Being a huge Eels/E fan and just having read his awesome autobiography I was sure that he simply cannot release anything that is not at least "good". After his masterpiece "Blinking Lights" I had personally hoped for some kind of next step in his musical career but rather E decided to release an album that contains songs that could have easily appeared on "Blinking lights" or "Souljacker". Actually the albums sounds like a mix of these two albums. Some very great tunes ("That look..", "The longing", "Ordinary man" and "Fresh Blood") but for the first time also some kind of fillers ("Lilac wind", "Beautiful things"). Still a great album with absolute gems on it. Maybe I just expected more (maybe too much). Maybe there can be nothing better than "Blinking Lights"...

Good album, no doubt.
It's not on the level of their better days, but good.
It's quite easy as easy is the desire.
Love the lyrics.
Better than Shootenanny and Souljacker.

Still have to give it a chance
