What song and female artist is singing, playing during the part of the movie when he is back and looking at his email and the picture of all the beach tribe comes up? It does not seem to be on the CD and the print in the movie is so small. Please if anyone knows. Great Movie of all time! Soundtrack is great except for leaving out that song!

Great compilation, but bad soundtrack

Soundtracks shouldn't be compilation CDs. They should have a color of their own. The color of 'The Beach'? Well, the individual pieces are each a vibrant color, but just like watercolors, you mix them together and all you get is a muddy concoction that is the color of poo. Then again, maybe that was the purpose of the album.

In the meantime, the great songs make the CD worth buying-- just don't listen to them together. Leftfield's Snakeblood starts off the album with an enchanting melody, floating on the surface of a throbbing bass. Unkle's Lonely Soul is like morphine that can really pluck your heartstrings. All Saints' Pure Shores doesn't really go with the overall 'trance-like' atmosphere, but with a melody similar to Madonna's 'Beautiful Stranger' and a hip-swaying beat, not to mention those sugar-coated slurring female vocals, listening to it is like riding a yacht in the Caribbean with the ocean breeze blowing against your face. Orbital finishes off with its typical clean and crisp sound.

If you feel like you need a puff of the cigarette or you just want to get 'fuzzy', then 'The Beach' is perfect for a hazy afternoon reverie. In fact, you can actually get blurry-eyed and happily obscure even without tropical sunshine or burning incense.

I loved it!!

This is the best soundtrack for any movie ever!!!!!!! And the movie is awesome too! My personal favorite is Woozy but every song on the album is great(although I have to admit, Im not too crazy about the Blur song...the intro matches the movie with the exotic feel, but about 10 seconds into the song it goes way off course)....If I was in charge of putting the soundtrack together I couldn't have done a better job. I recently went to Thailand and saw this place and its magnificent even though its overrun with tourists now and not such a "big secret" anymore. I brought this soundtrack along with my own soundtrack I made with songs such as Peter Gabriels "Red Rain" and Stings "Desert Rose". Those 2 songs really capture the feel of Thailand, the same feel this soundtrack captures. Thailands the best! The movie is the best(except the movie kind of goes downhill towards the middle, but the whole first half makes up for it)! And the soundtrack is even better! And like the others said...VAST-TOUCHED IS THE SONG THAT IS NOT INCLUDED ON THE SOUNDTRACK BUT IN THE TRAILERS FOR THE MOVIE..GREAT SONG! THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW THAT ONE GUYS!

My passion is guitar playing by the most accomplished. Clapton is one of the all time best. His voice is good, but I favor his guitar solos. I was inspired by the Crossroads Festival DVD's. This album is a great addition to enjoying his talent.Blues Guitar Greats

Even if you didn't see the movie (which was very intense but good), you will LOVE this if you love Eric Clapton. He did all the music on it and you haven't heard it on other albums. No vocals, just great guitar, emotional, attention-getting music.

Although the movie for which this is a soundtrack is ancient by Hollywood standards, the music remains alive and as relevent as when it was created. For Clapton fans this is a must-addition to your collection. Keep in mind that movie music is, by definition, incidental, and you will find some forgiveness in the occaisional musical non-sequiter. Even with that disclaimer, however, this is Clapton in a rich blues genere. If you like Eric Clapton, you must buy this disk!

THE OC MIX 2.

By now, I'm sure most are aware you can usually count on The OC Soundtracks to contain some pretty good indie music. This is a good soundtrack to pick up if you're a fan of indie, or even if you're just a fan of the show and you enjoyed the music throughout the season. Pick it up, It's a good decision.

SATURDAY MORNING - Good track by the Eels. This number gives a good start to the entire soundtrack. Definitely a song that will make you want to get up and dance.
HELLO SUNSHINE - One of the wider known tracks on the soundtrack. Some might think its been played too much, but I think a great song and I'm glad they put it on here.
SMILE LIKE YOU MEAN IT - Who doesn't love the Killers by now? Another great track from their album, Hot Fuss.
A LACK OF COLOR - I knew of Death Cab long before the OC..But I think to some people, this show definitely gave them exposure to this marvelous band. A good song choice by them as well.
SPECIALIST - This is not one of the better Interpol tracks.
SOMETHING PRETTY - I think this is one of those "most remembered" songs played on the show.
YOU GOT ME ALL WRONG - Definitely a favorite to most on this album. Its one of those songs you never get tired of hearing on repeat.
IF YOU LEAVE - Remake from the 80s song we all know and love. This was a pretty decent remake, but I think most would still prefer the older version.
BIG SUR - The Thrills! A marvelous band. Definitely one of the most fun songs on the entire CD.
LITTLE HOUSE OF SAVAGES - The Walkmen. This song is very reminiscent of late 80s music.
TROUBLE SLEEPING - Personally, my favorite on the entire soundtrack. You'll catch yourself smiling and thinking of that 'certain' person in your life.
SO SWEET - Another one of the better tracks on this CD. A rock song with a slight folk influence.
POPULAR MECHANICS FOR LOVERS - A definite folk song. I love it. Beulah is another great band to check out if you've grown into this genre of music.
WALNUT TREE - This song doesn't really stick out on the soundtrack. It's pretty forgettable.
MAYBE I'M AMAZED - Another remake by a beautiful voice, Jem. Of course once again, most of us will probably prefer McCartneys version, but you've got to admit, she did a good job.
EASTERN GLOW - A pretty calm, peaceful song. One of those songs best to lay in bed and listen to.

Even better than the first mix!

This second mix features some great songs, mostly from the second-half of season one. They're all played during key moments on the show.It perfectly captures that relaxing SoCal atmosphere."Saturday morning" is a rocking song!I also LOVE "A lack of color" and "If you leave",but my personal favorite is "Something pretty" by Patrick Park.

the score to the final star wars film, is, actually, my favorite of all six. i heard that it would be released with a bonus disk.as you can guess, i was enthralled. a BONUS DISK? WITH MORE MUSIC? AWESOME!!! you can tell my dissapointment with the DVD. Is it a great addition to the soundtrack? Yeah, Sure. But in my opinion, i think more music shoulda been on the soundtrack instead of the DVD. Now, don't let that stop you from getting this. the score on the album is amazaing. DO get this item. Let's hope for a Complete Score Of The Prequels, Much Like The OT. I'm getting quite impatient as there is great music left off the album.Hopefully..It'll come soon.

Four years ago, John Williams reached a pinnacle (again) with STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH. Standing on the debatably smaller steps of PHANTOM MENACE and ATTACK OF THE CLONES as well as the mighty shoulders of the original trilogy, John Williams managed to bring it all together in harmonious union.

Along with some captivating new themes.

The vocal arrangements combined with the ominous tones of Anakin's betrayal, the fall of the Jedi, and the destruction of the Jedi Temple are beautiful yet very haunting. Nothing like this has ever been heard on a Star Wars soundtrack. And I've heard nothing more intense than the "Anakin Vs. Obi-Wan" theme. Track 12, "The Immolation Scene" provided a melodic but somber mood, somewhat of an echo of another piece John Williams composed also called "Immolation" on the soundtrack to SCHINDLER'S LIST.

Also with SITH, much more so than the two previous scores, John Williams has done a wonderful job of blending old familiar themes (especially from the original trilogy) with the new. Examples include Track 9, "Anakin Vs. Obi-Wan," Track 14, "The Birth of the Twins and Padmé's Destiny," and Track 15, "A New Hope and End Credits" along with a couple of others.

As noted on the liner notes of PHANTOM MENACE, there were musicians in the London Symphony Orchestra who went into music because they loved the Star Wars score so much when they were kids. Now they're performing this music on an actual soundtrack. There must have been at least a few of those same people performing on REVENGE OF THE SITH. And I like to think there were a few of the old-timers there as well. That's one of the most wonderful things about this music: it transcends generational barriers.

What a grand union of perspective! And what a grand reunion of memorable melodies.

There's Great stuff here, but way too much missing. Stones, Simon and Morrison music in the film are WAY TOO IMPORTANT to have been left off this soundtrack cd. I'm sure it had everything to do with the cost of securing the songs rights. Too bad.

What made it to disc is great fun and well worth the used price here at Amazon. Go ahead and get this disc, you won't be disappointed. That is unless you're like me and really need those missing songs to complete the "feel" of the movie through the soundtrack.

By the way, I slugged through about 40 of the 70+ reviews here and didn't fine a one review to correctly identify the Ysaye Quartet performance as Ravel's String Quartet in F. Just an FYI.

The first few times I started listening to this album I first thought of the movie and I would try to remember which song went with which scene. But as I listened to the CD in my Walkman over and over and over again, I began to really experience each song for itself, and I began to forget about its place in the film. Each song is so beautiful and has its own lovely personality, that you begin to fall in love with each song and the album as whole. Now I feel as though I can appreciate the film a lot more.

Though I only considered the original movie with Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin to be average, I was blown away by the soundtrack. The music was an important counterpoint to the storyline. The problem is in the billing.
This is the second time that I have ordered an item and gotton two copies-clearly I am doing somehting wrong. but as a doctor, I am quite capable of doing things correctly-so, what I have come away from this second experience is -don't order from Amazon.
I then ordered a breadmaker and the order went to 'one stop shopping' a (which it was) and utilized a card that I have purposely cancelled with a leter (Amazon Visa?)-again -it is just not worth the time to follow your instructioins and correft it though I have never, to my knowledge, in the last year used that card-and dropped the order.

Pros: This is such a great movie, filmed in possibly the most unique city in America. If you know New Orleans, you'll realize how well the film makers captured it. The "accents" are a little over-the-top, but the acting is great, the music wonderful, and the story-line and directing top-notch. If you love anything NOLA, then get this movie. It'll become one of your favorites.

Cons: The color is a little washed out compared to the VHS version. I've got both and probably watch the VHS more than the DVD.

The preferred soundtrack version for this landmark soundtrack found itself in musical realms as equally innovative as the cinematic counterpart. Carlos's '71 score merges breathy synthesizers with classical composition in a way that feels scarily undated, reaffirming all the horrific beauty inside the controversial film while standing as its own bleak vision.

The prologue features Hedwig's Theme, one of my all time favorites. What follows is a masterfully composed musical adventure, from the sinister "The Chamber of Secrets," to the stirring "Fawkes the Phoenix," and the friendly strings of "Reunion of Friends."

Another one of my favorites is "Dobby the House Elf." It has a sort of subtle nobility, if that makes sense.

Overall, a very, very good score. Almost each song is fun to listen to, moving through the story with as much excitement and magic as the film and book.

A must have for not only Potter fans, but music fans in general.

This CD has beautiful music that calls to mind different moments of the film. We enjoy listening to the music and trying to picture where in the film it takes place.

If you liked the movie, you will LOVE the sound track. I listen to it at work all day and the music takes you back to the wonderful sites in the movie.

Very inspiring and relaxing at the same time. I have ALL the sound tracks to ALL the movies, this one has the longest of the Harry Potter Themes ... "Harry's Wonderous World" Takes you right back into the movie.

Highly suggested for ANY Harry Potter fan, young or old.

This music is food for the soul. You absolutely can't help but smile listening to the kids bang pots on "Hey Now." The lyrics to "Wild, wild, life" never fail to make me smile (I'm wearing fur pajamas!) People like us is raw, emotional and moving (we just want someone to love.) The movie, too, is wacky and touching. The singer Susan Boyle comes to mind. :) I think this is a quiet classic.

Saying this CD and little creatures were their worst albums? You got to be kidding, this one is 4 1/2 stars and little creatures 4 1/2. This was the CD that got me into Talking Heads after I picked up Speaking In Tongues. So if your a fan of TH, get this one first, little creatures, then SIT. The only way to get 5 stars is picking up Sand in the Vasoline.

Great disc!

This is a great Talking Heads cd. They are all tracks from a movie David Byrne produced.

Let's be clear on something here...

the Talking Heads never released a bad album. Of course some are better than others (everyone's opinion on this of course varies from person to person) and in my opinion this is not one of their top 5 albums or anything, but it is (as others here have said) highly underrated. I just don't understand all the negative reviews. Every song on this album (except for "Puzzlin' for Evidence and - depending on my mood Papa Legba. Now I know a lotta people think that's one of the better cuts here, but honestly I find the song a bit boring. There are so many gems here..."Hey Now" "Wild Wild Life", "Radio Head", "Dream Operator", "People like Us"...any of these songs are just as good as their earlier more popular songs. "City of Dreams" is one of the best "slow songs" Byrne has ever written. It's just a truly beautiful song. David Byrne is just an impossibly great songwriter. I mean the guy cannot write bad songs at all. Even his worst songs (which are on his solo albums, believe me) are still highly melodic and usually have some element of them that's worth hearing). Anyways, if you are a TRUE Talking Heads fan, you will enjoy this album. That's all there is to it.

Still GREAT after all these years.

My girlfriend introduced me to the Talking Heads this year and I've not been able to get their songs out of my head since... "People Like Us," "Radio Head," and "Wild, Wild Life," are all standards from twenty years ago and they still have a clue... these songs speak to something in us that no other band has yet done. "Talking Heads," is subversive music of the best sort. AAAAA+++++

Disappointing Remaster

I just bought this remaster of a very good overlooked work.
Overlooked for a reason - horrible sound quality.
From what I can tell not much attention was paid to the remastering.
Sound levels are still all over the place from cut to cut. Still making it impossible to listen to this without having the remote in hand the entire time. Worse of all, the cult fave The Nile Song sounds even worse than the original CD. This cut is a horrible recording to begin with (I doubt this was recorded at Abbey Rd studios). The remaster only brings out even more distortion and the bass (once deficient on LP) now overwhelms the cut and everything else on the remaster.
Using my trusty old Roxio 5, I manually altered the sound levels from cut to cut (#8,9,12 and 13 didn't need any enhancing) and instead of using the remastered Nile Song - I used the cut from the original CD and boosted the volume a little to make everything fit. Only now I can put down the remote when listening to it.
If you were thinking of getting this I would wait for yet another remaster and maybe then they will get it right.

Inconsequential meanderings

More is a soundtrack LP that sounds like a movie soundtrack rather than a collection of 13 songs. There is no consistency of style or sound. An atmospheric doodling like Main Theme is followed by Ibiza Bar, a more "conventional" Floyd creation. I bought the LP in 1969. As I didn't particularly care for it then the record has sat in a rack for about 40 years. I won't be reaching for it again soon. Now, if I had seen the movie and could relate the Floyd's tracks to scenes in the movie perhaps I'd feel differently. I really enjoy Tangerine Dream's soundtrack to the movie Thief. The music is meandering at times but suits the tone and content of the movie perfectly. I doubt that I'd appreciate that music if I wasn't so familiar with the movie. As it is, the inconsequential and aimless wanderings of Pink Floyd's soundtrack more than overwhelm any value offered by the couple of worthwhile tracks on the album

Floyd jam out a few decent tunes here but ultimately the laid-back vibe can almost double as an early career b-sides disc- in fact, you can actually hear them already borrowing from a few of their previous, more memorable freakouts.

First of all its a pretty good film. Perhaps the best film the Floyd were involved with (haven't seen Crystal Voyager, but did see Zabriskie Point, and it wasn't great)

Some of the music isn't on this soundtrack (Seabirds, theres a different version of Cymbaline that plays in the film)

Its a very good soundtrack I think. Although the band took soundtracks less seriously than regular albums, and would spend less time on them (I think the soundtrack for La Vallee was recorded in a week at Elton Jones studio, and thats one of their best albums!)

Although they were taken less seriously, a number of tracks would pop up on Floyd "best of"s like Relics (like the rocking Nile Song

Its a great album, but there is some crap. Gilmour does one song in Spanish. Don't recollect if that was in the film (all of the music in the film is the Floyd btw)

Crying Song is great (first mention of "the stone" that would later feature more prominently in Animals)

Cymbaline's the best track - it was performed live a bit too (when doing it live on PBS there were footsteps during it - the Floyd using sound effects to great effect, culminating in "On the Run" on Dark Side). Gilmour was a great singer, and he sings this and on the acoustic track "Green is the Colour" - on the BBC take of Green he does a great scat singing at the end. The studio version has more of a piano coda

Very interesting album. Not mainstream in the least. Very interesting sound. Hearing an album like this in 1969, you would not recognize it as the Floyd. First, there are no Barrett songs, Syds not singing any songs at all. Also, a few of the tracks are instrumentals, with blues a definite influence (check out Gilmour doing the blues on Quicksilver!)

Be patient with it though. I think this one is a grower. These days I tend to listen to this Floyd album rather a lot however. I think its up there with Animals and Piper as one of their best. Its certainly one of their most obscure

Now if the band would only release "Household Objects"!

hey ho here a we go?

to begin with I absolutely abhor all the so called commercial stuff they did. Meddel and Dark slight of the moon and beyond were all atrocious LPs and cds.
This one, and the zabrisky point soundtrack and atomheartmutha and oomagooma are good staff also obscurred by clothsis an okay album yes?
